Good Jakes Restaurant is located on Main St. inside the Coopersburg Fire Department Club. They are open Tue - Thu 8AM - 9PM, Fri - Sat 8AM - 10PM, and Sun 8AM - 8PM. I never heard of this place, but a friend recommended it to me. I'm glad he did because the food was good and the service was great. GJ is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is similar to one you would see at a diner. I ordered a cheesesteak and garlic Parmesan wings. The cheesesteak comes with American cheese, sauce, sautéed onions, and mayo. I typically don't like my cheesesteaks with sauce or mayo, but this was good. The wings were crispy and heavily sauced. I've had better garlic Parmesan sauces, but once again, still good. GJ has Indoor and outdoor seating. Pickup and delivery are both available. We have a group called TBC (The Breakfast Club). We look for breakfast restaurants /diners that we feel are excellent enough to put on our regular breakfast spot rotation. Good Jakes Restaurant was a first time stop for our group. The service and staff (Felicia) was EXCELLENT. The food is great and the ambiance is awesome. This place was the go to for a quick bite! But it has changed hands and in my opinion has gone down hill! The steak sandwich came out with a roll that fell apart, when picked up, from the grease and the french fries had a taste of old grease and seemed to have been fried more that once-didn't even eat these. Unfortunately, I didn't fell welcomed. I was planning to order a pizza since it was conveniently located next to a children activity center. The plan was to order while my husband was with our kids, but while we were getting my little ones out of the car a lady parked in the "bartender parking" spot was watching us. She waited until we were all out of the car. She then stated "Do you know that you're parking on private property?" This was my first time to the area and the parking lot had many open spots. I'm guessing this must be a problem for them with parking, which trigger the comment. So I said that I'll move my car. She continued to make a comment "Yeah, I'm sure" and then said she'll be back out to see. Extremely unwelcoming and uncomfortable! I hope she came out to see that she turned away a customer by the way she treated my family in the parking lot. read more

My husband and I arrived in the middle of dinner hour and no one else was in the restaurant, we should have left and saved ourselves over $50. My husband ordered an omelet and I ordered the small brick oven pizza. We also ordered an appetizer of chicken fingers. The appetizer arrived promptly, but at the same time as our dinner. The chicken fingers were large in size, but were tough to cut and not edible in our opinions. The "brick oven" pizza tasted like a pre-made frozen pizza, and the garden omelet was tasteless. We left most of our food on the table. On the way out we stopped at the ice cream counter and decided to get some to go. We should have known better. The pre-packed ice cream my husband picked was totally freezer burned and he threw it in the trash. The freshly packed ice cream I ordered was also filled with ice crystals and not very tasty. We drove past this restaurant every day and finally decided to take a chance and eat here - the food was great! Their pizza was really good; nice, hot and crunchy. The owner of this restaurant has deplorable manners and has no idea how to speak to his customers. Most restaurants, if you have a problem with the food, the owner does not take it personally and hold a grudge against you. Not the case here. The owner often seeks out previous patrons of his establishment, scolds them as if they are inferior to him and does not warrant any respect for the consumer at his establishment. I have never in my life experienced such abuse from a man who is suppose to be serving, because that is the restaurant business! He has some great cooks, and waiting staff, but he should never and I mean NEVER speak to any patron, when there is a problem. He is inept and should not be running a restaurant. read more

We've had take out food from Good Jakes a couple of times and I ate in once. Their burger is amazing, as are their french fries! I've also enjoyed their lasagna and crab stuffed fish - really, really good! Salads are crunchy fresh and service is fast and friendly. Nice local spot. This place is attached to the Coopersburg fire companies social club, and it supports the fire company. I am not a fan of the social club but Good Jakes is great! read more

Full disclosure. Angelo is part of my family and has been cooking for us at holidays for years. Everyone in the family always commented on how great his food was. So when he opened Good Jakes I started supporting him as much as possible. I've tried just about everything from burgers to prime rib, salads to eggplant parmesan and his food is amazing. His prices are very reasonable and like others have said, very generous size portions. He was working on opening before Covid hit which delayed things 5 months and is now working like crazy to make a go of it. So if you're looking for great food at reasonable prices give him a try. The only reason I am giving this a 5 star rating is because of our waitress her name was Chrissy. We went in with our two grandsons a few days ago for breakfast. When I tell you this young lady was the sweetest woman we have ever met I mean it. She generally made us feel welcomed and even got down to our grandsons level when she was taking the orders. The food was good but our waitress was the best. Our grandsons felt like they were grownups cause she asked them directly what they wanted. If you go there ask for her by name. I promise you that you will have the best service ever. She will make you smile and if you have kids she will get down on their levels to take a order. Had a Gift Certificate to use so we decided to try it out. No one was in the place, so that should have been our 1st clue. There was 1 kid in there working. Teenager, maybe 16. Food was ok. I asked for feta on my gyro, there was none. Go to pay and he tells me that he can't accept the gift card. The company that sold the gift cards screwed up so they aren't accepting them. I paid for the gift card! But nope, now I have to pay for the meal, no gift card allowed. No sign hanging about not being able to accept the gift certificate, nothing!! It would have been nice to know that BEFORE we ordered. I asked to speak to a manager and he said he is the manager. I doubt that. I feel totally ripped off by Good Jake's. I really wish I would have grabbed my (very generous) tip off the table before we left. That was really crappy customer service. read more

My husband and I stopped in here for the very first time tonight to have dinner. I am sorry to say that we will not be returning & do not recommend eating here. To begin with, I really don't want to have to say this, but the waitress was terrible. Apparently, she did not understand what we were ordering. To be fair, it was clear that English is not her first language, so I would like to grant her some leeway for that. I ordered a caesar salad with grilled chicken (she asked me what kind of dressing I wanted on my caesar salad) & my husband ordered a cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, bacon & mayo. He asked if that was a problem because there was no burger on the menu that said it came with bacon. She said it was not a problem. He was also very specific to state he did not want anything else on it - no tomato, onion or lettuce. After taking our order, she left then came back a few minutes later to apologize, saying she was new at this, and asked me to actually point out on the menu what I was ordering. I pointed to the grilled chicken caesar salad on the menu. After about 10 minutes of waiting, she brought out our meals. My caesar salad consisted of lettuce, croutons, tomatoes & onions - (tomatoes & onions are never part of a real caesar salad), and no chicken. My husband's burger had american cheese, lettuce & tomato. There was no bacon. She walked back to the kitchen & a minute later returned with ANOTHER salad for me...not sure what kind of salad it was supposed be as it had olives & tomatoes on it, but it also had the grilled chicken on it that was supposed to be on my caesar salad. My husband & I both looked at her and asked why she brought a second salad out & she pointed to the grilled chicken. I said I did not order 2 salads - she apologized & was going to take it away. But I felt bad because I knew she was new at this & told her I would just take that one home. In addition, not only was my husband's burger completely wrong, he said it was terrible - the burger paddy was clearly a premade frozen paddy that was not the least bit appealing to even look at. Now, we have had great frozen burgers before (i.e. Bubba burgers), but clearly this was not of the best quality. Finally, the check came. The bill for 3 meals (2 salads & burger) & 2 drinks was $39.14. Not terrible based on the inflation we are all dealing with....but then again it was more money because of a salad I did not order. When my husband input his credit card to pay, the waitress had scrolled the screen over to where the tip would be 25%. He scrolled it back to 15%. For doing her job, she deserves a tip, but in no way was her service or the food worth a 25% tip. On a side note, we arrived at 5:00pm, prime time for dinner. No one else was there when we arrived & no one else came in the entire time we were there. But we did notice that the restaurant next door had numerous cars in the parking lot when we drove by, so I guess we chose the wrong establishment to visit for the first time. I am going to have to assume that other than the one other review on here that is 2 stars - which was given based on the length of time it took to get their food - all the other 5 star reviews MUST be from people who are friends or family of the owner, or they are people with low standards, because based on our experience, absolutely none of what they have to say about the food matches what we experienced. read more
