4 thin slices of potatoes for $15
    Marcy B.

This is hands-down the best restaurant in Ouray when it comes to food and cocktails. The bartenders and servers are consistently attentive, and the entrees are thoughtful and well-executed. Cocktails are some of the best I've had in town. That said, there are a couple of things I hope the management takes seriously--especially around pricing transparency. First, the appetizers are significantly overpriced for the portion sizes. For example, $15 for just a few thin slices of sweet potato, or $21 for four small pieces of toast with mushrooms, feels disproportionate--even by upscale dining standards. More importantly, the way the restaurant handles service charges and tipping is misleading. There is a 5% kitchen living wage fee, which I actually support in principle. However, the way it's presented is problematic: it's not clearly listed as a separate line item on the bill--it appears to be folded into the "tax" line, which is misleading at best, and possibly not legal. Guests should be able to clearly see what they're being charged and why. To make matters more confusing, the restaurant uses the Toast POS system, which prompts tipping based on the total (including tax and the 5% kitchen fee), rather than the pre-tax subtotal--which is the standard tipping base in the U.S. It then suggests default tip options of 22%, 25%, and 30%. This makes it easy for guests to unintentionally tip far more than they realize--especially when they've already contributed 5% to the kitchen. When I worked in restaurants, we tipped out a portion to the kitchen--this feels like a workaround that shifts the entire burden to guests. Some easy fixes I'd encourage the owners to consider: 1.Clearly list the 5% kitchen fee as a separate line item--not rolled into tax 2. Adjust Toast settings to base tipping on the subtotal, not the total 3. Offer more standard tipping prompts (e.g., 18%, 20%, 22%) so guests don't feel pressured or misled Again, great food and service--but these billing practices could use more transparency and fairness. I'd love to continue recommending this place without having to add a disclaimer about the check.

We're from Florida and absolutely loved our experience at The Western Grill in Ouray. We sat in the bar area and the ambiance was amazing. It was cozy, stylish, and felt like a true Western Colorado spot. I had the Colorado lamb mixed grill and it was fantastic. The lamb was tender, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. I can't remember the name of the drink I ordered, but it was great, and the bartenders were super friendly and really know their stuff. Everything from the food to the drinks to the atmosphere was top notch. If you're visiting Ouray and looking for a memorable meal, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Best bar atmosphere, excellent cocktails and friendly, fun staff. Love everything about this place - including the view into the chef's table.

The award-winning drinks were outstanding, the food was delicious, and the decorations were perfectly suited to the mountain vibe.

The experience tonight has us planning a return trip to stay at the hotel and spa in anticipation of similar top notch treatment at these other services. From the handcrafted drink menu to the main course to the dessert... five stars across the board. Throw in excellent, friendly service from Amelia, and we are literally planning our next stay in Ouray around a restaurant. Lamb Bolognese, prime strip, apple crumble with lemon honey ice cream... just fantastic across the board. Caught a little snow out the back window to tease us for the evening.

Amazing experience! Cozy, friendly vibes and staff. Innovative cocktails and incredible food! Protection from start to finish!!! I had the mushroom risotto and my friend had the burger. Both were repeat worthy!

I really wanted to leave this very cool restaurant a 5 star review and I would if it were based on my meal only. Let me explain: the large menu portion had 3 entrees - they were out of 2. Bummer. The bean hummus was excellent, plated beautifully, but not much hummus or beans. The baked feta was excellent too. Toasted bread with both great. Considering we had 2 apps and shared the sturgeon large plate (excellent but served with nothing but olive tapenade), I thought pricey. I'm ok with all of that until the bill came with 5% KITCHEN LIVEABLE WAGE FEE WHICH GOES DIRECTLY TO PROVIDING OUR HARD CULINARY TEAM WITH A LIVEABLE WAGE...I was and am fuming. Shouldn't the employer be providing liveable wages? Sorry, I won't be recommending or visiting this place again.

Love the atmosphere, drinks and food. We split a perfectly done porterhouse and enjoyed the craft cocktails. Great service!

My buddy had a cocktail which he didn't really care for, but that was just personal taste reasons. The service was slow, even though they were running around like crazy. They seemed understaffed, but I'm not really sure it seemed like they were just inefficient. The staff was stressed and not real friendly, but not rude either. I also ordered the zucchini fried strips for an appetizer they were OK. They brought out the smallest little dip of ranch dressing to go with them. I think I've ever seen. I believe for the pizza, the water and the drink and the appetizer it all came out to about $70 with tip. Which is about average in this town, but dang that seems high to me. Now the pizza was really good and for two of us, we couldn't finish at all so that's a good thing. We did take three pieces back to our cabin to finish up the next morning for breakfast. I love cold pizza for breakfast. It's weird. I know that I love it lol . Would I go back to this place? Yeah I think so. Other times I've been in town. I've noticed this place is always packed and people are always waiting outside so I probably would not stand in line for this restaurant.
