This was overall a decent although not amazing hotel stay. It's located downtown with a decent selection of restaurants within walking distance. Although I checked in through the app and was hoping to bypass the front desk with a digital key, I had to go to the front desk anyway. I did receive an elite status room upgrade to a larger corner room on a high floor. This room had a small integrated sitting area with a small sofa. The bathroom was decently modern but with only fairly basic toiletries and plastic drinking cups. It was extremely difficult to control the shower temperature. A tiny adjustment of the control resulted in the water going from cold to extremely hot. There is no club lounge at this hotel. I never received housekeeping the first day of my stay despite messaging the front desk through the app as soon as I left my room early in the afternoon. The room was overall quiet and comfortable, and I like that you can sign into your personal Netflix account on the television for entertainment. Checkout was easily accomplished through the app allowing the front desk to be skipped on departure. Overall a decent stay but nothing amazing. read more

This was such a great experience. The gentleman at valet explained how we could valet or where to park if we wanted to save $20 by doing ourselves. He was so polite and informative. The gentleman at check in was even better. Told us where to go get some food and a beer. The breakfast was good. Coffee pods in our room. We had a good experience here. The beds are very comfortable, there is ample workout equipment in the fitness center, including pelotons (you have to use your own account though, just fyi) the rooms are very clean. There is parking across the street and next door if you don't want to spring for valet, which we didn't. The rooms have their own thermostats, but they can be tricky to use. I wish they had fans/another way to create white noise available, just to put the experience over the top for me. very quick check-in and out process. This was an awesome hotel! It's not in the most trafficked location, but it is an easy walk to the Third Ward. The hotel itself is very modern and clean, and I liked the room a lot. It had plenty of outlets and a nice little couch. The view of downtown Milwaukee was great, even on the fourth floor! The one negative is that, despite the great bed, the pillows sucked. Great stay at the Westin Milwaukee! The beds were comfortable, the room was spacious enough, and the service was very friendly. We had a nice view of Lake Michigan staring straight over to Harbor House, and the room was stocked with a fridge, iron/ironing board, shampoo and conditioner, and all the things you could need. Shout out to the friendly staff - Kelly the bartender was very nice, and I wish I had got the name of the guy at the valet (Thursday night, black guy) because he was sooo nice and helpful. The only ding is the food at breakfast was nottttt good. Very nice it was free, but the eggs were bad, the potatoes were bad, just overall the food was bad. But oh well - it was free! Lastly, the location is great. We were a little weirded out by it when we first arrived because it's RIGHT by the freeway on kind of an empty looking corner, but it's a very very convenient walk to three major areas - downtown, Third Ward, and the water. Upon check-in the lady at the desk was super nice. Unfortunately the heat wasn't working in our room and the engineer that come up almost 45 min after notifying the front desk couldn't figure it out they changed our room. 2nd room's heat also wouldn't turn on, but the 2nd engineer that came up right away fixed it. Unfortunately the heat had a weird smell, but we gave up and went to sleep due to being exhausted from our day. Talked with the staff the next day and they were very apologetic and understanding and compensated us for the poor stay. Service here is top notch, unfortunately the stay overall was a bit disappointing due to the issues. We've stayed at the Westin in Chicago which was great, and I'm assuming this isn't the norm at the Westin Milwaukee. read more

The Westin is centrally located and has great Spothero parking nearby as well. We only stayed for a quick overnight but I would absolutely be coming back and I have recommended the hotel to all my friends who have visited the area. Opened in 2017, this Westin is located near the lake and just a short walk from the sommerfest grounds-in fact our clean comfy room on the 7th floor had a view of the nightly fireworks just across the highway. Pros: -brand new hotel-always nice-so everything is new and up to date -love the Westin heavenly beds-great pillows too-so comfy and I always sleep well -our room 744 was a two-room suite with a separate bedroom, very large bathroom with a big shower AND an huge soaking tub, and a separate living room with hardwood floor and seating for 9 which was a nice gathering spot for our family reunion -VERY friendly and helpful front desk staff made Check-in easy and friendly -valet service was fast an efficient Opportunity: -nothing significant but parking at the hotel is valet only @$34/day but there are other surface lots across the street for a lot less -perhaps the cleaning crew was short handed but I thought the housekeeping was a little slap dash-bed -bed was technically made but very rumpled and dirty glasses not removed. Bottom line for me-this is a comfortable, new hotel in a nice location with a great staff that's walking distance from lots of summertime fun in Milwaukee. The Westin Milwaukee was amazing! My husband, dog Tyler and I came from Chicago for Labor Day weekend to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, and our experience was fantastic. Not only was the staff so sweet with our little pup, by bringing him a dog bed and bowls, but they treated him so well and would give him treats and pets. He was positively spoiled. They also put his name up on a board in the lobby, which was adorable. They even washed Tyler's bed for us once at our request. For our anniversary, the staff also went out of their way to make us feel special. They served us complimentary bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries in our room, created a wonderful dessert plate for us one night at their bar, and in general, provided us with excellent service. Fairly new hotel, this Westin has a true Westin experience. The decor was tasteful and the bed was comfortable. The only thing was the restaurant closes between meals which added pressure to the bar. We wasted 30 minutes waiting for the 1 bartender who was taking care for about 30 people before we all decided to order room service. Not to say the bartender was rude but she was also avoiding our area for the most part of that 30 minutes. I made sure I took full advantage of their peloton bikes in the gym! It was great! The gym equipments are quite new and clean. Lastly, they ran out of food in the kitchen by 3am. Granted it's a busy weekend for them but I would think they would prepared better. Overall I had a good experience. I have stayed in other Westin that I didn't think was up to the name but this was enjoyable. read more

This is a nice hotel with a good bar. It's not too far from Summerfest grounds but it is not close to the bar scene. This is in the middle of the business district, right next to the US Bank facility. Parking is kind of scarce in this part of the city. The hotel offers valet, but we used the US Bank garage and they had a $5 weekend special (score!). We just left the car and walked around all weekend. As mentioned above, this hotel is in the business district. That meant lots of walking around where there was nobody else around. I'm talking you are the only person you see up and down the street. It was kind of creepy. I was half expecting a zombie or two to pop up as we were strolling down the street! We were in town to drop little brother off to stay with big brother at Marquette. When I tried to get a hotel room I found out it was also the Milwaukee Marathon and a Cubs vs. Brewer weekend, so there were not many choices. Will I stay here again? I don't know since I like to be closer to the action, but sometimes a hotel room is hard to find in Milwaukee! read more

I'm not sure what some people expect. This is hands down the nicest, cleanest, friendliest hotel I've ever stayed in, in Milwaukee. In the sub 200$/night category, there is nothing better. The rooms are sized well enough. Clean, modern bathroom. A thermostat in your room that actually controls the room temp. Netflix on the tv. The west view we had was less than great I guess. But we didn't go there for the view. The bartender was one of the best I've ever had too. A hickory smoked manhattan - yeah, that's a thing. Without a doubt I will recommend this place to friends, family, and internet. I challenge anyone to find a better cost effective alternative. It's not penthouse suite, but it's by far far far the best hotel in the area. I guess unless you're into dated decor, exposed pipes and run down - ahem, "historic" buildings. read more

This is going to be the go-to spot for Summer Fest attendees. If this place was any closer you would be staying on the Summer Fest grounds! The location is an affordable "ride-sharing service" fee to many other attractions (if not walkable). This hotel has been open for three weeks as of this Yelp review. It appears that any kinks that may have been present have been worked out. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff stayed on top of things and were attentive to any needs we had. Views of the city and lake are great. For a nominal fee the hotel will provide workout gear in case you forgot yours. The bar and restaurant are nice. Definitely worth checking out. Will be looking to stay here again. Parking is $35/day which is a painful expense and even more so over time. read more

After staying at many Marriott's throughout my career, I had the pleasure of staying at the Westin in Milwaukee. I have stayed at various hotels in the area. And this by far is the best hotel. The hotel is great... yes because of the restaurant, valet, gym, and city views (great distance to the third ward) BUT it's the greatest because of Maddie and Julia. Upon arrival Maddie checked me in, I sighed as Marriott has yet to change my married name in the system. She eagerly tried to help out, and gave advice on how to contact bonvoy. That night I realized I left my charger in my car (and with the valet) it makes things harder. Julia answered the phone full of professionalism and energy and offered to grab my charger and bring it to my room. WOW! Within 10 minutes my charger was at my room. Night 2, I have a terrible cold. I call down to the front desk, and my two favorites answer yet again! I'm begging for any cold medicine. Julia and Maddie again save the day again with emergen-c and waters + more! If every marriott could train their staff like Maddie and Julia, or better yet...if the world had more people like Maddie and Julia - we would live in a much better world. Someone give these ladies and raise, and whatever you do STAY HERE! read more

The one star is for the room itself. It is clean as a branded hotel. Now, here are the problems we had in a family trip with two little kids. 1. We were told the room is not available to be checked in although it is already over 5pm. We got a free drink and they told us they will call once the room is prepared. We had to take our two little kids out for over two hours and no one called. We came back around 7pm and checked in without hearing one little apology. 2. We asked for a crib for our baby but couldn't manage to set it up after a lot of efforts. Therefore, we called the service counter to ask some help. After waiting over one hour, no one came. My baby was tired and kept crying. It has been 10pm then. We called again and they sent a hotel staff, he found the crib did't work. Yes, they gave us a broken crib and our baby had to cry till 10pm and could not sleep. If you are an adult for little service, just sleep in the hotel room. I think it is fine. Myself has stayed in Westin Australia, Westin Japan and Westin China. However, if you are traveling with kids and need some extra service, believe me it is not in their minds. Think again before make a reservation. I regret this reservation. read more

My (our) experience overall at the Westin Milwaukee was tainted and could have been much, much better. The property itself was very conveniently located, new and comfortable. The management I had to deal with was disappointing to say the least... Upon arrival and checking-in around 4pm, which is standard check-in time, I was told both rooms that I had reserved were not yet ready. It was a busy weekend in MKE due to Summerfest and the hotel was booked out, but I highly doubt that many people had Platinum status (as I did) and ultimately the hotel should have planned better for a busy weekend. I stay in hotels every week for work and half the time they are sold out - never ran into this situation. On top of that, the staff checking me in didn't offer any sort of compensation until I HAD ASKED - how uncomfortable and annoying! And forget about a single sincere apology, all I got was excuses and the manager avoiding eye contact with me. We had a total of 6 guests and 2 additional that were not staying with us, everyone was waiting on the room to get ready so we could drop our bags off and freshen up before the festival. We were watching more and more guests check-in and go up the elevator presumably to their rooms. I was confused and baffled at this point. No one came over to explain or apologize as we were waiting by the lobby bar. It was simply embarrassing and insulting for me because I had booked the rooms and all my friend were waiting. Because we had 3 guests in each room, I had asked the front desk to make the breakfast coupon for 3 guests instead of 2. At first, she refused to provide that change. I had to INSIST before she actually went to the manager to put this through. Mind you, this whole time I had not made a scene, been frustrated but not rude. I felt like my politeness had been taken advantage of. The disappointment I felt was unparalleled. read more

A nice addition to the Milwaukee hotel scene. Close to the lake and the Third Ward, the Westin is a sleek and polished place. They have a great wide open lobby (3rd floor checkin) with a fireplace on one end and a very attractive restaurant and bar (Stella) at the other end. The rooms themselves are your typical Westin fare. Comfortable bedding, internet enabled TV, and a spacious bathroom. Views are somewhat compromised but you are staying here because of comfort and convenience, right? I would definitely come back to stay when given the option. read more

I chose to stay at the Westin Milwaukee for my mom's birthday weekend trip over a larger suite in a comparable hotel because the reviews for this hotel were mostly positive and since it was new, I expected the service and the hotel to be top of the line. For what we paid, the view was a little disappointing as well. I posted some pictures so you can see which rooms are actually facing the lake and some of the rooms are facing the highway and about 25% is actually lakeview. Looks like the dog in the review below mine got better service than my family of 5 did LOL Pros: - They were able to accommodate early check-in. - Valets were probably the friendliest people my family had met during the stay. - Brunch at Stella Van Buren was tasty. - Beautiful hotel lobby - very contemporary and modern furniture. Cons: - Room was obviously not inspected (crumbs left over near coffee machine & a "We respected your do not disturb request?" card leftover from the previous guest). - Lipstick, blood, or ketchup stain on the robe in the bathroom - Although there were cards saying that there should have been complimentary water bottles, we did not see any. When we called to inquire, they said that they ran out. They did not offer a solution or offer to send up any water until I asked. I called on Sunday (the next day) as well because I assumed they would have refilled their supply but I was told again that they were out. - Toilet paper unchanged - Front desk agent was not friendly - even after I tried to strike up conversation and let him know that we were here to celebrate my mom's birthday weekend, he just gave me my keys and told me where the elevators were. - Premium lakeview room faced mostly highway and about 1/4 lake. - 7 AM on Sunday morning, the construction workers for the parking garage (not sure if this is associated with the Westin) started work and unfortunately, woke up everyone in our room. This is probably not a con against the hotel but if you're staying in the "Premium Lakeview Room", you should be aware. - Walls are pretty thin - I traveled with my 10 month old and the rooms next to us were extremely loud due to the guests celebrating Halloween and coming in around 2:50AM. Again, not a con against the hotel but just know that the walls are not great at suppressing noise from the hallway/adjacent rooms. - We called to inquire about high chair availability for my son on Saturday around 5PM at Stella Van Buren - she confirmed "yes", they do have high chairs. Make a reservation because by the time we got down, despite the restaurant being half empty, there was still a long wait and our expected time to sit down was 8:45PM. Our fault for not making reservations - wish they had asked if we would like to make one when we called. If I can think of anything else, I'll edit my review to add. My mom, fortunately, still had a great time on the trip and had a great birthday! We were all a bit disappointed in the hotel but thanks to the wonderful weather and the gorgeous Art Museum, we had another great trip to Milwaukee. We'll be back for another trip soon - we will just not plan to stay here again. read more

We experienced great customer service as Marriott Platinum, and got great comps in the form of food and drink vouchers to use at Stella Van Buren in the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive and provided incredible service. Plus the food and drinks for weekend brunch were delicious! We checked in at 4:00pm, had to wait over an hour before our room was ready. Once up stairs, we checked our bed and found pubic hairs on the sheets. We called down to house services and they said they would change them. We left for Summerfest and the FGL concert, when we got back to the room at 11:30 pm we found that our sheets had NOT been changed. The night person finally came up to replace our bedding after we called down to express our disgust a second time. After check out we didn't get our receipt for the room emailed to us until we called them after got home.The desk clerk was verbally abusive after we asked why it had not been sent. We asked for a manager, she said he wasn't available because she had a line of people to get to. Fortunately the manager came to the desk and was put the phone, after lengthy discussion the manager took 206.62 off of our $459.00 bill. read more

Had an amazing time with my husband at the Westin Milwaukee. Got a really great rate (maybe because it was the dead of winter) but upon check-in, while having a nice conversation with the front desk staff, they realized I actually qualified for a lower rate and he took it upon himself to adjust our rate. We went to our room and it was spacious, well appointed, and had a great city view. We went down to the lobby bar for a few cocktails before dinner, then went and enjoyed an evening out. The lobby bar had some really tasty and imaginative drinks on the menu and the appetizers were well done and well priced (especially for hotel food). When we returned to our room they had dropped off champaign and chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary. It was very thoughtful and we really appreciated it. My husband and I went to the Westin for our 2nd year anniversary and had a GREAT time! There were a couple of complications during our stay, but David and Jasmine did a wonderful job making sure our stay was enjoyable. We were one of the first to try out the Tri-Westin Package. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is in Milwaukee and want an active stay. The offer is described in detail on their website. We also had dinner and drinks at Stella Van Buren for our anniversary. We gave a separate review on Stella Van Buren via yelp, which you can check out. Long story short - we loved our dinner and the craft cocktails were made to perfection! The room we stayed in was wonderful. The decor is beautiful, yet practical. This might be a fine place to stay if you are in town for a quick visit as the rooms are very nice and clean and it is a great location, but I would NEVER recommend working with them if you are hosting a large event that requires room blocks. We selected them as our hotel for our wedding block and there were issues from the start. Our friends had gotten married a few months before and also used the Westin for their room block and had issues then, so that should have been our warning. From the beginning, guests would call to make reservations and be told that our block was full when it wasn't, resulting in them paying a higher rate for the room and us not getting credit for filling our block. This is a big deal because you sign a contact saying you will cover 80% of the costs of the rooms not filled. Guests would ask to come in a day early and be told that they wouldn't get the room rate (the room rate for guests checking in early had been agreed upon) and that if they did check in a day early, they would have to check out then re-check in then next day. Eventually (like weeks later) we finally started working with someone who was more helpful. While issues got corrected quickly, we continued to have issues and continued to have to reach out to them, which was time consuming and frustrating. Fast forward to the weekend of and our contact person kind of left us high and dry. To start with, I attempted to check into my suite on Friday night prior to our rehearsal dinner only to be told my room wasn't ready (after also being told there is a guaranteed 3:00 PM check-in and I was checking in at 2:57 PM). When I emailed our point of contact who had been working with us the entire time to let her know there was yet another issues, she replied with "you will need to speak to the front desk manager." Still no follow up from her or any of the the staff regarding our weekend. The next morning my sister-in-law had ordered food trays to be sent to my suite for the girls to eat while getting ready. Not only were the trays not ready on time, when they finally brought the trays, only 1 of the 3 she ordered was there. Additionally, they had an announcement on the screen in the lobby that we were hosting a brunch that morning, which was not the case. My father went to check out on the last day only to find out he had a few hundred dollars worth of charges that were not his. While this did get worked out, it was just another hassle to add to the whole situation. I was fortunate to not have a lot of wedding stress; however, this was one of the most stressful parts of the whole wedding planning process. We also had a small room block at the Marriott downtown for our guests and things were fantastic there. I would go there before attempting to deal with the Westin if you hosting an event that requires room block. read more

Made me sad coming here. It was swanky, beautiful, food was great, floor to ceiling windows, bar was straight out of a fairytale. It made me sad because it reminded me too much of sweet home Chicago. But that is a compliment to the staff, and westin hotel Milwaukee. A real compliment. No other place in Milwaukee can get this down yet so kudos to the westin being the first. Great service, friendly people ready to assist. The Kimpton screwed this up royally. My daughter's wedding is next year, and I really wanted our out-of-town guests to stay at the Westin. However, I guess the Westin doesn't want them, because NOBODY EVERY CALLED ME BACK OR RESPONDED TO MY E-MAILS. Must be that business is amazingly good for this property, to not even have the courtesy to respond to room block inquiries. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here! The hotel is new and our room was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast in the Stella restaurant and the front desk was awesome and was able to provide us with medicine complimentary at night when the Walgreens had closed. My only criticism was someone from the housekeeping team barged into our room when we had the dnd sign on the door and didn't even knock before opening. I used to work in hotels and it's always customary to at least knock and announce yourself before entering a room...and they shouldn't have been entering at all due to the dnd sign. I would definitely stay here again but hopefully they work out some of the service kinks! read more
