I have ordered take out from this place a couple times, mainly cause it's so close to my apartment and I have heard that they have amazing wings. They were not wrong about the wings. They come in portions of 12 or 20, and they do not disappoint! I got the buffalo sauce each time I went and they are hot but not too hot, as well as having some nice buffalo flavor (hot, and not too vinegary) which was nice. First of all the staff are amazing. Kind, sincere, capable and welcoming. The space is fantastic. If you're not there for watching sports it's quiet and comfortable. But if it's sports watching you want, it's well designed for watching several games at once. Pretty much every seat has a view of 3-4 tvs with all the games on, each labeled with the teams playing. It's a bit dark tho and gen c and boomers often need to get out phones to read the menu. It's definitely a great place to watch the game! I wouldn't go anywhere else. While I like the food a lot, personally I'd make some changes. When I go to a place like this I'm looking for the most classic version. I don't want or need an innovation or unusual twist. In that respect I wish their sauces and dressings were a bit more like the classic standards. To me that means no sunflower seeds on the salads (I always forget to ask to leave them off) and classic dressing recipes. I'm not fond of their thousand island for example. It's yellow and sweet. I'd rather have the standard pinkish kind sweetened only by the ketchup used to make it. The buffalo wing sauce is absolutely perfect I think but the blue cheese dressing was not as good. Could use more cheese crumbles I think. I don't know if there were pickles on my burger but to me they're a must have. My burger was good but not perfect. It could have used some pub sauce(ketchup and mayo). But otherwise it was quite good. I love this place and I'll definitely be back. It's a great little neighborhood pub. read more

I am parked outside of the Westy. I entered the restaurant to pick up orders during Sunday night football. While waiting at the bar, a patron pointed at the TV screen and said, "Look at that monkey run" while referring to a Black football player. No patron corrected him nor did any of the staff, with the bartender standing right there. I am a Black woman and would advise other BIPOC about patronizing this venue. I'm adding this note because I'm not very familiar with Yelp and I have no other way of replying to the business owner's response to my original review. I looked into my wallet for my ID when the waitress asked for it, noticed it wasn't there and told the waitress myself that I left it at home and was going to leave to get it. I didn't (intentionally) disregard any signs and she did not have to tell me that I needed ID. I knew that. Which is why I had selected this BAR to come to. I'm blown away by this insanely defensive response. It isn't my problem how many times your staff have had to deal with people who intentionally forget their IDs or are difficult - though I don't wish that for them. All I know, is that I did not and was not difficult. I was very respectful to her even with her short responses...& I'm now having the owner justify an employee being rude with customers within minutes of arriving. As for the explanation for why drinks couldn't be ordered, nothing was explained to us. Had she told us when we asked why, we would've completely understood. But she was incredibly short with us and made us feel like she didn't want us there. That is the main point. That is how we felt while in your bar. I think you would feel differently if you witnessed the interaction yourself. I'm thoroughly shocked by this response. Good luck. read more

Went in for a quick happy hour with work colleagues and had a great experience. Friendly server and great drinks. We got a few snacks to munch on and they were good---can you go wrong with crispy tater tots?? Plenty of large screens for sports fans. I've been thinking about visiting this place for the last few months and I finally went for the first time. It definitely will not be the last time. I got the Westside Poutine to which I added sausage. Crispy tater tots, cheese curds, crumbled sausage, and country gravy...absolutely delightful. My friend got the french toast of which I had a piece and it was also very good. I like the chill vibe of the restaurant and on a Saturday early afternoon there was plenty of seating and the service was excellent. I'm hoping to go back next weekend to try out some other menu items. First impressions are very good though. read more

I can't with how good this meal was. Went to meet my friend for dinner & drinks the other night - it was the first time I had been in a couple of years and I was worried I wouldn't be able to find much on the menu. I am a type 1 diabetic and usually try to make modifications or look for lower carb options so I don't have to worry about blood sugars. I had the fried cauliflower with the sauce on the side.. delish! They were lightly breaded so it felt more like the cauliflower itself was the focus, whereas most other places you're trying to figure out if there's even any cauliflower in there at all. I ordered the blackened fish tacos and asked to have lettuce instead of the tortillas. I thought maybe they'd just throw the taco toppings on top of a small pile of lettuce and was both thrilled and impressed when they came out like lettuce cup tacos! This place was pretty awesome! We came for HH and our server was amazing. Appropriately attentive without being pushy or interrupt or neglecting us. Cocktails were good and their draft beer was delicious. I enjoyed their wings (we tried the jerk rub and the sriracha thai) and garlic-pepper chicken chicharrones the best. Their pretzel bites were okay, but I disliked their cauliflower poppers (however, my husband and sister-in-law enjoyed them)...a bit too salty & mushy to me. I can see how this would be a great sports bar. They have more seating in the back with a few games like skeeball. Great local spot with food that surpasses expectations when you think "bar food." I can't help but order the angry chicken wrap. It's so freaking good! You can toss the chicken in any of the wing sauces, so be sure to ask. My personal fave is the siracha Thai basil. Definitely skip any side substitutions and stick with the tots! Beer selection is average, highlighting local breweries. I wish they had a bigger selection, but I always find an IPA to quench the thirst. This is one of our favorite brunch places to watch sports but I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon because of the service. It's really gone downhill. This morning there was some confusion over who had control over our table, it didn't really bother us, we got our food and drinks without much of a wait. The issue was a blonde woman from the bar (unclear if she was the bartender) saying that the issue was because of an employee she didn't like and she felt the need to dramatically rant to other Westy employees about this right next to our table. Something about how another one of their employees doesn't respect boundaries and they don't like her. She was screaming louder than than the TV and honestly made us all uncomfortable. Incredibly unprofessional. It's clear that she didn't care about the customers and was happy to stand in front of the TVs in the middle of the dining room while there were games playing and complain about her coworkers openly. Ate here on accident! (UberEats driver brought me someone else's order.) Everything was hot and fresh, so no complaints there. Figured "hey, free food!" for the driver's mistake, so I didn't mind too much. They ordered the wings with the hot honey glaze, which I was excited about, since I'm a big hot honey enjoyer. Turned out to be some of the worst wings I've ever eaten. Flavorless, overcooked, soggy on the outside and dry on the inside. (In fairness, the sogginess might be due to it being delivery. I'm not in West Seattle as much as I should be...since I live a little south of it in Burien. Problem is that its just as fast to drive into the city as it is to get in the aforementioned. It can take 25 minutes to get on to the main strip of California Street, and it only takes me 15 to get to Capitol Hill. Logistics people, its important! Where in the hell can you do that anywhere in the greater Seattle area?! Close parking is catnip to us older folks! I went here recently on a date...I think it was a win cause originally she said she wanted to go to Bumbleshoot. First off, I'm too old for that shit, and second day passes were like $150. Now, I'm not cheap, but if I'm going to a festival at that price it better be Dipset opening for Mobb Deep (RIP Prodigy) opening for The Wu-tang Clan. I can't pay that much to watch some "deejay," playing a prerecorded mix, pretending its real, and pumping their fist. Serato done f'd the game up! Anyways, we went on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy. Its a sports bar with plenty of tvs, and bar table seating. Its clean, and you can catch a glimpse of the game from anywhere you're seated. It actually reminds me of my favorite bar back in my hometown, The Red Fox. A lot of dirt went down there, so I'm not sure its a good thing that I found its doppelganger! There's also seating upstairs with more tvs, skeeball, and vintage video games. I think on Tuesdays you can play the games for free, but I could be wrong. Thank you whiskey. The drink menu is pretty standard, but what was surprising was the food menu. It had some things I don't associate with sports bars like shrimp fried rice, fritters, and chicken, and waffles. All of which we ordered, and were pretty good. Not you're standard bar food for sure, and probably a little better. The happy hour is great as well. Cheaper drinks, and my personal favorite, Tater Tots chili cheese nachos. Only god can judge me! This place isn't pretentious, and the food is good. Its probably a good intermediary for my friends visiting back from Alaska. They aren't down with all the yuppie spots, but I still want good food, and drink, which The Westy possesses. Visiting from the Bay Area, my friend suggested I try this out since we are both fans of soccer. I just so happened to be here for the MLS Cup (spoiler: the Sounders did it!). I got the poutine with chorizo and the left hand milk stout. If you want a nice dessert, get the donuts. They're great too. The atmosphere is welcoming and the food is tasty. Yes, some of the seating is uncomfortable, and yes the food offerings can be tough on folks trying to avoid spicy stuff, but the drinks are most always on point, and the service is always awesome (even when it's crazy busy, the servers take time for a smile and a chat about specials and drinks). Cool thing: there are so many tv's with so many different sports on display (unless the Hawks are on, then it's, you know, wall-to-wall...) even if the one you're watching starts to bore you, you need only to turn your head a bit and suddenly you're watching dogs run obstacle courses, swimming competitions, or motocross. Happy day, sports fans! Our go-to menu items here are the seared tuna tacos with that crunchy jicama slaw, and those juicy savory lettuce wraps. But always check the specials- they have some creative chefs back there, and they usually have something tempting and fun! The vegetable pasta is a solid choice for carb watchers like me, with spiral cut zucchini or kohlrabi noodles instead of spaghetti, but it can wind up a little soupy if not drained properly. Tasty though! Watch out for that garlic... This has become our sports night easy-button, and our discussion usually begins with, "Game's on. Should we go to the Westy?..."
