Really enjoyed my lunch at The Westy for my first visit. Haley was very friendly and greeted me right away. I saw on the menu there was an "Angry Bird" wrap, however I am not a wrap guy. Haley said they were happy to make it into a sandwich for me. The feel here is that of a sports bar and at the time I was there, not very noisy at all. My sandwich was incredible, and I can't wait to go back again.

Came here randomly on a Sunday and ended up loving the small-town vibe of the place. There were lots of locals, good sports games on their TVs, and good beer and food options. The place is huge and has a few floors, but it feels like a legit sports bar. Loved the root beer on tap :) We ordered Totchos - these were surprisingly filling, even though they're meant to be a shareable appetizer, I highly recommend them! Westy Classic - this was bomb, the ghost pepper cheese provided just enough kick Had a few beers, their stout selection was good if you're into those. The service was excellent, the bartenders and servers were super interactive they chatted it up with everyone that walked in. I can see why there's regulars, it was a fun time.

Awesome food and equally awesome staff. Bring back the bulgogi spring rolls!! Wings are great. Watch out for the cheesecake spring rolls!! They are delicious AF!!

Hubby and I went for some good happy hour (2-5pm) snacks and drinks and we were not disappointed. We had the chicken and mini waffles, steak bites, and Mexican corn cheese. All were delicious! The service was fast and friendly too. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. I forgot to take pictures of the food, but I got their most recent (4/2025) menu. As for the venue itself, it's a bit of a small entry, but opens up to another level in the back. Like any sports bar, there's TVs everywhere, but they're not loud, which I appreciated. They have a full bar as well with a good selection of cocktails and beer. It's a nice-sized place with a very local and welcoming feel.

That was the worst salad EVER. The corn dip was good, the chips were good, the brisket grilled cheese was good, but the salad was awful.

This place has an upstairs kitchen and a bar downstairs creating a kinda nice division between the dining and drinking area. I had my usual hot honey chicken yesterday. I preferred it when they used dark meat chicken for this sandwich. Now that they use chicken breast, I find it less flavorful ( I don't think the meat was seasoned at all ), and not as tender. Still good, but I will have to find my next favorite item here's at Westy's. I enjoy coming here for the lively vibe at night, and there is plenty of street parking.

Stopped in for a pint and some food to catch some sports on Root TV that we can't watch at home. The bar selection is fantastic and the food is flavorful and well put together. We were served by Becky and felt like we were a bother to her during our visit. Her demeanor was short, impatient and borderline rude. We are locals and we're very excited d to make this joint our regular go-to spot. Sadly, we were off-put by cold, dismissive service. Pros: Excellent, flavorful food. Great varieties of beverages. Local sports on multiple tvs. Cons: service, service, service. Please talk to Becky. She seems very comfortable and didn't seem interested in developing new regulars. (Side note: it was pretty dead and there was plenty of time to do a better job). She spent more time talking to some other Westy employee that was off the clock than us. Edit: The owner reached out and shared some thoughts with me and I am very appreciative of his response. I also realized that a negative experience in service didn't warrant a condemnation of entire experience.

We came here after going to Lincoln Park, which was only a 5 min drive away. Since it was sorta warm and we still had sunlight, we opted for the patio vs. being inside. You scan a QR code on the table (which is unique for your table), order, and pay all on the phone. It was pretty convenient for us as diners and probably less work for the workers to not need to constantly check on us. The con to this though was there was very limited service. They just bring out the orders but there was no check-in on if we needed anything throughout service. No water was given. We had to go in to ask for a to-go box. My boyfriend accidentally dropped his fork on the ground and I thought no way is this fork getting replaced. This IS a sports bar though and we were outside so unsure if things are different indoors. We ordered two burgers (mine was a regular cheeseburger w onions, lettuce, tomato, and my boyfriend's had bacon and ghost pepper cheese), and the Irish nachos and an alcoholic hibiscus lemonade. The burgers came with either a salad or tots for the side. The Irish nachos had super crunchy waffle fries which I enjoyed. The guac on top was average. The meat patties were thick at 1/3 pound which I liked, though I found it to be a little dry. I think the ghost pepper cheese in my boyfriend's burger really elevated the burger, though it was quite spicy. Overall, not bad. I'd maybe come back if I was in the area.

    Brontosaurus wings. So delicious!!!

There was not too many people and we got served right away by the bartender. They have some cool unique cocktails. I got the first one, which is a custom gin cocktail for about $15. I usually cringe at cocktails over $12 but this really was worth the $15 price tag. It was so balanced and nicely flavored and had a good strength. The place has bar seating and booth seating, and televisions all over showing football, wrestling, and more. They have a mini wrestling ring at the front, which is fun. I bet this place is so fun when they have special events. In the back they also have pinball, of course! And board games. The wall is covered in art and wrestling memorabilia which adds to the ambiance. We sat at the bar for a bit and the other guests were nice too - chatted with us, chatted with the bartenders. I think some people are regulars, which is cool. I really liked this lowkey unique bar and wouldn't mind making a trip out here again soon.

Dinner from late 2025 Customers seem to have a love-hate…read morerelationship with Tomo, an Asian fusion restaurant, in White Center. Originally opened as a high-end restaurant with tasting menu only, the restaurant has since evolved to an la carte (optional family set), with a mix of Asian fusion and adapting to moderate-price offerings with larger portions. The owner/chef has a worthy pedigree, having worked at Canlis; Brady Ishiwata Williams presents a menu leveraging recipes from his Japanese grandmother with influences of local ingredients and other Asian flavors. The results are flavorful (occasionally salty), imaginative, and visually pleasing. The staff is very kind and helpful with menu explanations. The restaurant ambiance is streamlined modern. The Food: Klingemann Farms Pork Rib Chop, $48 - 4 Stars Impeccably covered in a tamarind glaze and served with broccolini, the pork rib chop is served slice with slices of butter lettuce for wrapping. Despite being slightly salty, it was a brilliantly prepared dish. Sablefish, $46 - 4 Stars The sablefish is seared and served with manila clams and kale. This is a 'brothy' dish, and I have to say I wanted to drink the broth. Alas, it was a touch too salty to literally drink the broth. The combination of clams on fish is unusual; they work well together. The kale hiding under the fish soaked up all the broth wonderfully. Tomo Caesar, $18 - 4 Stars Their signature salad adapts flavors of the chefs' Japanese side with bonito dressing and furikake. Lightly dressed and delicate in flavor, it is my kind of salad. Dry-Aged Steam Burger, $5 - 4.5 Stars This humble steam burger is their most popular dish, a bargain at $5. Served with caramelized onion and American cheese, it was surprisingly good, and I am not a burger fan. When we asked if we can order more (nearly closing time), the server winked at us and gifted us two more. Thank you! Albacore Taraki, $26 - 3.5 Stars Albacore slices are served in a ponzu and yuzu dressing. Delicate and delicious (but spendy for albacore). Chawanmushi, $16 - 2.5 Stars Their Japanese egg custard is served with sweet corn, enoki, and brown rice vinegar. While I love a good chawanmushi, the high-end variants all include seafood. The $16 price is very high for its ingredients. This restaurant has a 22% included service charge and no additional gratuity is requested. For the level of service we received, the 22% is legit.

First, I'll start with the lens I am rating this from. I have eaten at The French Laundry,…read moreSingleThread, La Toque, Commis, Eleven Madison, and other popular fine dining establishments. I say this to explain that my rating comes from the lens of fine dining, especially when a place has three recommendations. I was highly disappointed when I came here. The day I visited with two colleagues was: 6/18 at 5:00 PM My rating breakdown: - 1 star: Ambiance - 1 star: Food - 1 star: Experience (including service) - 1 star: Greeting (the "wow factor") - 1 star: Wine list / bar Ambiance (1 star) The ambiance was great: dim lighting, with a mix of mid-century design evolving into a postmodern theme. The shotgun style walkway with an open kitchen was very clean and organized. There was a great waiting area for a small restaurant. Definitely a plus to the designer. Greeting (-1 star) When first entering the restaurant, it felt almost misplaced. Visiting here, I could tell the area is undergoing some gentrification. That was fine, but when I entered, the host was highly rude to me and my guests, very short and dismissive. It gave the impression of, "What do you want? It doesn't look like you belong here." I asked for the menu to see what they had to offer because nothing was presented in the window. We decided to continue because they have little competition in the area, so why not? As we were seated, the server came around and really changed our decision to leave. He was very pleasant, respectful, and when we asked about things to do in the area, he answered our questions. Please recruit more staff like him. He was very knowledgeable about the menu items and explained the flavors well enough that I could imagine how the dishes would taste. We ordered the majority of the sides and two drinks. Bar ( 1 star) I ordered the Miss Knick at Night, and it was a beautifully crafted drink. A plus for the bartender saying hello and goodbye -- I forgot to add that. Wine list was modest for a small restaurant had some unique picks. Food (-1 star) The food we ordered: Tomo Caesar This was more of a Southwestern style salad: mildly dressed, finely shaved cheese (maybe Parmesan), toasted corn, and some other toppings. It wasn't really a crowd pleaser. The salad was bitter and barely dressed enough to bring out the flavors. Crab Fried Rice This received mixed reviews. Some people may like it, some may not. For me, it was too rich. I'll leave it there because others may enjoy it, try it for yourself. 1/2 Dozen Steam Burgers Just cheese, a Hawaiian bun, dry-aged beef, and onion. This felt more like a gastropub item than something that fit into the Asian fusion category. We just didn't understand how it connected to the overall concept. Fried Chicken Finally, the fried chicken... I liked it. However, for others, it felt drenched in grease, which I understood. For an elevated restaurant, you're not expecting to order gastropub-style food. I was going to order dessert, which I almost always do, but I decided not to. I couldn't handle another surprise. I also didn't appreciate that we didn't receive water service at this caliber of restaurant. Maybe it was just the server, but those are basics of fine dining that need attention. Experience (-1 star) When we received the check, we really didn't appreciate the 22% service charge. I have paid more before, but for this experience especially with the host interaction and overall service, it did not feel worth 22%. We didn't really take a journey through the dishes. There was no clear theme connecting them, so I didn't understand what we were eating or why at that price point. Maybe the chef understands the vision and the execution just missed the mark, or maybe the training needs improvement. Either way, something was missing. Would I recommend it? No. Would I come back? Never. I should have just driven to the city and taken my friends to How to Cook a Wolf. Final rating: 2/5

Knowing how viral spots can get, we arrived early at 4:50 since they were listed to open at 5. By 5:30, no one had shown up. We checked their Instagram and found comments from other people who had the same experience from other days: showing up at opening time only to find the doors still closed. The owner had replied to one of those comments saying, "Life does unfortunately get in the way of being able to open right at 5 pm..." So apparently this happens somewhat regularly. Right as we were about to give up, someone finally pulled up and unlocked the place. We rolled down our window and he told us we needed to park somewhere else. That's fine. We waited a few minutes to let him get settled before walking in. There was no "thanks for waiting" or any acknowledgment at all. When we asked if they were serving food, he told us the sandwich guy "should be here around 6:30 or so," and suggested we grab a burger next door if we were really hungry. Honestly, that was such a letdown. We'd waited all day to eat, driven 50 minutes from Tacoma in the pouring rain, and were so eager to try their food, not the burger spot next door. We debated leaving but decided to make the best of it. We grabbed burgers next door, came back, and ordered cocktails. The drinks were fine, and the space itself is genuinely awesome, great vibe, super fun décor, and a lot of character. I mean they even play scary movies on a projector. Like, it's awesome. But the experience left us feeling more like an inconvenience than valued customers.
