I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at The Whale in Fort Myers was shocking and completely unacceptable. I was visiting with my bachelorette party when the husband of a woman sitting at a table offered us their table as they were leaving. Before sitting down, we specifically asked if it was okay, and were told yes. After we sat down, we politely mentioned that they had left some cups on the table. The woman, who we later learned was the owner, immediately became rude and confrontational. The situation escalated quickly. She began yelling at us in front of other customers and told us we needed to leave. To make matters even worse, as we left she was leaving on her golf cart and she yelled at us to "never come back." I have never been treated so poorly by a business owner. What should have been a fun celebration with friends turned into an embarrassing and upsetting experience that nearly brought me to tears. There was no reason for the hostility or the way we were spoken to. The rest of the staff and management was very kind after the incident. Customer service starts at the top, and unfortunately this experience reflected the opposite of hospitality and professionalism. We will never return and will be sharing our experience with others planning a trip to Fort Myers so they can make an informed decision about where to spend their time and money. read more

I stopped in to visit one of my favorite people on Ft Myers Beach who ALSO is my favorite bartender here. I have followed KY SHELLY for at least 4 different locations since Hurricane Ian wiped out the beach. I've traveled AT LEAST an hour to get to her because of her attitude, quick wit, professionalism, and personality. I'm so happy she landed here as the location is perfect! I love the ambiance here as well as the view. THIS visit with her was no different! She cooled me down the tropical way by making me a Bay breeze cocktail. The prefect blend as other places make them where you only taste the fruitiness. With HERS, one actually tastes the alcohol without it being too "boozy" KY Shelly then enticed me by suggesting the Island Grouper Tacos. ($23.95) I chose my Grouper medallions blackened. GREAT seasoning without it being too salty or overpowering the taste of the Grouper. It was drizzled with their homemade cilantro lime aioli and came with a side of their mango slaw. The next time I order this, I will put it ON the taco instead of eating it on the side. As I was getting ready to pay my tab, I saw KY Shelly making piña coladas for other guests. Knowing how much EVERY BARTENDER I know absolutely LOVES to make frozen cocktails, I asked her to make me one as well. STOP AND READ BEFORE GOING HERE!! To start off, we arrived and put our name down for 10 people and preferred to sit on the third floor but we were told it would be a 25 minute wait, so we said okay that's fine, we went to the bar to wait and right off the bat the bartender was clearly in a bad mood the moment my party and I walked in, greeting us with snarky remarks. We were taken aback but decided to disregard it. After waiting 45 minutes, a host (older, blonde woman) finally came up to us and asked, "Are you the party waiting to be seated upstairs?" We said yes, and she replied, "Yeah, never going to happen." We were stunned especially because another host had told us just 15 minutes earlier that a table had opened up and it would only be another 10-minute wait. When I pointed this out, she simply said, "Yeah, nope," with no explanation and no attempt to make it right. This host offered zero resolution and was rude throughout the entire exchange. Then the general manager came over to ask what was happening, and instead of being honest, she told him, "They didn't want to sit anywhere except the third floor." That was completely untrue we never said that!! Their own staff had been telling us for nearly an hour that a table would be ready soon. If that was never going to happen, it was her job as host to tell us within the first 25 minutes or so and offer us a different option. Instead, the hosts just continued to argue with us and deflect blame, refusing to take any accountability for how mismanaged the situation was. Also, not to mention the insanity of her behavior? What kind of BS hospitality is this?? I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!! Horrible service, our bachelorette party left hungry, upset and annoyed about the situation. read more

Expect to wait for a table especially near sunset. It was 45 minutes the day we were there. We were seated immediately on level 1. Service was great and we had a "spicy" waitress. Made for a memorable meal!! Food arrived very quickly after our order was placed. We ordered the shrimp basket and fries. The fries were different, a thick curly fry. Pretty good, shrimp were heafty but good. We had the apple crisp for dessert. Place had plenty of TVs and a very open air feel. A must stop and walking distance from the pier. read more

This is a newly renovated three story sports bar with an incredible view of the beach! We approached the first floor and the host was super sweet and helpful, and she guided us to the second floor so we could have a view. The server was attentive and took our drink order immediately and answered all of our questions. We settled on the cheeseburger, the chicken burger, and the red snapper sandwich. This could possibly be the best smash burger I've ever had. Came in on a Friday with some friends, we sat down, enjoyed the vibes and I unknowingly ordered a burger so delicious, it was like angels dancing on the tip of my tongue. The burger had two patties with plenty of cheese and shredded lettuce. Imagine the best Big Mac you've ever had and multiply it by 26. I really wanted to order a 2nd but I was so full from the first burger plus the fries, that I did not want to be a total glutton. So I decided to come back the next day and order it again! Now on to the ambiance, this place is great for football and any game day really. Tons of tvs so you always have a good view. Pretty view, good was great, service was good. Shrimp Alfredo - AMAZING 10/10. The only thing that I found a bit strange is that it comes with toasted bread on the side. Not garlic bread or any flavoring. But there was a lot of sauce to soak up using the bread, so I'll leave that alone. The Alfredo sauce is 10 out of 10 homemade and the spinach really has a nice kick Burger - the burger was good. It was 3 patties though, which seemed a bit excessive. And it does say smash burger, but they were not the kind with the crispy ends that are flat and actually smashed. Philly cheese steak - it was good. The best part was the jalapeño cheese sauce. It definitely needed extra cheese sauce, but it really made a huge difference. The fries are seasoned and good. And the Coke products were 10/10. The music was a bit quiet for us on the third floor though so hopefully next time they turn it up a little bit read more

There was a live band one night and someone went around passing out maracas and she was getting everyone going. It was really cute. Drinks were about what you'd expect anywhere and the food was good.
