I'm hoping we were just there on an off night as we love this place. First off though the staff we encountered were truly friendly and helpful. The service was great as we were the only ones there at 6pm on a Thursday. The food was tasty but the pizza could have been cooked a little longer. The entree salad was big. For those of you that knew the old "island view restaurant ". There remains the restaurant on the top floor that is beautifully redone. There is now an upscale Italian restaurant on the first floor and a very large indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant on the other side of the top floor ( right side looking at Lani kai). We had a nice dinner at your establishment last evening. We were a party of six celebrating a dual graduation. This restaurant is in Lani Kai Resort on the Skydeck with entrance past the bar and up the ramp. Having been to Grace's restaurant on the 1st floor already, this was a disappointment. I truly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. For an appetizer, my party ordered both the arancini and the oysters rockefeller. The arancini was absolutely delicious. I'm personally not a huge fan of oysters rockefeller, but the other people in my party enjoyed them immensely. The clam chowder was easily the best I've had in recent times. It was the perfect consistency. For dinner, I ordered the lemon asiago chicken with pesto pasta. The chicken itself was very yummy, but the pasta was pretty average. Nonetheless, I was happy with my entrée. I totally loved the tiramisu I ordered for dessert. It was creamy and a little bit chocolaty and a little bit boozy. We also ordered the turtle brownie ala mode. That was absolutely divine. Our server Christie was amazing. She was friendly and attentive. Party of 6... We had made a reservation and arrived on time. The host, Sean, was super nice and was able to accommodate us in a booth with a beach view! Food servings are pretty big. Food was good but not amazing. We are originally from NY so we are picky about our Italian food. Waitress was new to the restaurant. She was ok but I'm sure she will be more comfortable as she adjusts. The pineapple mojito was ok but I've had way better. My husband said his dirty martini was meh. It was my first time having ceviche so I didn't know what to expect and it was awesome!! Great flavor and good service! The restaurant as well as the facility in general is showing some age. Likely continues to be viable due to the wonderful view of the ocean and beach activities. We went for an anniversary dinner and had an enjoyable evening. Our server, Andriana, was very good and added to the experience. She was pleasant and gave good recommendations. We ordered the seafood tower appetizer. $40 for two and was pretty average in taste and quality. Crab claws were not in good shape, oysters were okay, cerviche was tasty, shrimp were fine, clams very average. We has grouper done with ginger and soy which was done nicely. Tried a couple of desserts and they were notably unremarkable. Appears that they all come out of a prepackaged freezer or refrigerator set. Not worth bothering with. Overall average at best. Other reviews seemed to be either one star bad or five star great with little in between. May be due to inconsistency of the food? Not sure. Absolutely loved this place. We got there right when they opened so I'm not too sure how the service is when they do get busier. It is located at the top of a hotel, the only downside is you have to find somewhere to park since the hotel doesn't offer parking for the restaurant. I had the white pizza on the happy hour menu and it was so perfectly cheesy. The shrimp cocktail is to die for, it was soooo good. Although I didn't drink my partner did and his cocktail was great. The staff were very intentive, and I'm pretty sure the owner even checked up on our table to ensure quality control. This restaurant is located on the 6th floor of the Lani Kai Resort. Parking is not free. The parking attendant, an older bald, heavy set man, is pretty gruff and does not appear to like his job. He was yelling at people constantly. He even yelled at our Lyft driver for wanting to drop us off closer to the elevator as I have a disability. We took a Lyft over here. In order to get to the restaurant part, you need to go up an old elevator that holds 6 people, go through a loud, rowdy bar and then you get to the outdoor seating. Even though we called early in the morning to reserve the swinging table next to the view, and were promised it, they said they did not receive our reservation and it was made for another indoor restaurant up there! So then we had to speak to the manager, 2 servers and finally after waiting for other diners to leave, we were able to get the table we requested in the morning. We ordered Crab Cakes, which tasted mediocre and Clam Strips with fries. Nothing special. Our main reason for going there was to catch the Sunset, which they advertise. And we did get to see it. Just don't expect much and you will be happy if you get the view tables. The entire place needs remodeling badly. No one was wearing a mask that we could see..neither staff nor customers. read more

My husband and I came here on vacation. We absolutely loved our experience and our food! The manager was present, so friendly and making sure everyone was satisfied. Our waiter did a great job. The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere and a great view of the beach and ocean below. (Just a note, you have to take a glass elevator all the way to the top to get to the restaurant). We both loved our food, I got the Salmon Piccata which was perfection, and my husband got the Chicken Parmesan which he raved about. As a guest of the Lani Kai Resort Hotel, I was a little reluctant to dine in the hotel restaurant, but this experience blew me away. Initially was seated in the bar area to offer a corner view of the beach picturesque surroundings, but was gladly reseated in the main dining area even though dining alone. The host, bartender and Chris the manager could not have been more kind...and Guy was exceptional as my server. Some great food recommendations and substitutions. The Grouper Oscar was one of the best seafood dishes I've eaten in a long time - loved the sauce taste, fish tenderness and lobster-crab topping. The clam chowder is one of the best that I've ever had, plentiful with clams and a great smooth taste. And the atmosphere with picturesque view of Fort Myers Beach and a live jazz performance during dinner...my goodness. I just didn't want to finish so that I could savor every bite nice and slowly. My wife, two-year old, and I had dinner here and it was a little wild. Granted, we went during Memorial Day weekend, a fight broke out on the outside deck between a very drunk male and a very drunk female. The male sat back down with his very large, very drunk group, and continued to be loud and obnoxious. I was kind of surprised the restaurant didn't tell him to leave. A second fight broke out inside and the bartender had to break it up. A waiter had to repeatedly ask a couple to stop smoking in the middle of the tables. It was a weird clash of clientele --there were a lot of early twenties groups that were ordering shots and families out to dinner. The view can't be beat, the food was good, the service was a little slow --but not a big deal with a view like that (unless you're being vigilant that a fighting/shoving couple don't come too close to your table). Went here during a trip to fort Meyers beach with my family during off season. Noticed it because it's on the roof of a hotel painted with many bright murals. We decided to try it out because not many places were open. Made our way up the elevator to the top. They was live music and a lively bar with a view of the ocean. We were shown to our table. It was a large booth with a window over looking the gulf. Right off the bat the maître d' was very friendly. We told him we were there to celebrate a special event. A minute later the manager (Sean Shore) came by and welcomed us and offered us a free glass of wine of our choice. We thought that was very nice. Because nothing is free anymore. The waitress was really nice and attentive. The drinks were good. And the selection of dishes was a lot. We all ordered something different and quickly got our appetizers and then soon after dinner. Their sauce is incredibly light and had a fantastic citrus and the mayo balance paired with a crab cake that's been perfectly cooked. IVR is located on the top floor of the touristy and kitschy Lani Kai resort. As you disembark from the elevator, it's like you've gone back in time to the 70's in decor and atmosphere. Entertainment was this dude with a huge snow white Afro doing Neil Diamond karaoke (not well). Our waitress was nice enough, but was kinda unkempt and "hard" looking, and could've used some Prevagen pills because she asked what we'd ordered 3 times LOL. Nonetheless, the food itself was actually decent. I had shrimp wrapped in bacon for an app (Just OK). My wife had snapper topped with a crabmeat tomato sauce which she really enjoyed. I had the scallops carbonara. It was savory comfort food, and the serving was large enough that I had it for leftovers the next day. I washed down the meal with a pretty decent IPA, Fort Myers Brewing Company "High 5". The cuisine here had a decidedly Italian bent to it. For dessert, we shared an Italian cheesecake, which was "just ok". I was a bit underwhelmed by this dining experience, but it did deliver what I'd wanted...dinner overlooking the water at sunset. We had a great meal at the Lani Kai Island View restaurant. Jennifer was our waitress and she did an excellent job of walking us through the menu and making suggestions. We started with bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp as our appetizer. They were really good. I had the crab stuffed grouper which you had to ask to have grouper as the fish to stuff. My wife and son had the sea scallops done with a garlic butter sauce. Sons friend had coconut shrimp which he said was very good. Meal came with a salad or soup was an added bonus. However, this place needs some constructive criticism. We were a party of 7 tonight upstairs on the patio. The pros were the one man band and views. That's it. So if you would like friendly service, good food, or drinks, then go somewhere else. Sorry. We had cheese dip appetizer-came out Luke warm with the cheese film already starting to form. Ordered shrimp basket-came out as a much more expensive shrimp platter, not the basket. Ordered sweet potato fries, received regular warm fries. Ordered tuna tataki appetizer-tuna was cooked through to a beige color-no pink or red center. Asked for French dressing for side salad-never came. The snow crab leg dinner ($28) was ok I guess in light of the other things. It was very difficult to get our waitress' attention to order or clarify anything. She told us she's quote "not a people person". No bill adjustment or apology. It appears that they think if they have a great rooftop view then everything else just is take it or leave it attitude. This is basically a pizza and is delicious. Where else can you get a Flatbread overlooking the ocean for $5. Not only is the price right but the fresh ingredients make it pop. Wood fired for extra flavor. I also got the eggplant rotolo. Probably my favorite dish here for happy hour. Tender eggplant stuffed with ricotta, fried, then baked with cheese on top.
