The White Horse is a fantastic vibe. Servers were wonderful and food was what you would expect from a Pub. They have a number of beers on tap, and in the bottle and some unexpected surprise beers. I'm shocked to realize that I've neglected to review the Sloaney Pony. Last year when a few beer loving expats settled in Fulham, our never-ending search for craft beer goodness led us here. As far as the beer goes, it is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood and the city for that matter. I always find something solid on the taps here at the Pony and they never disappoint. Just this past weekend there was Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale, Anchor Steam and Lagunitas Little Sumpin Wild. I don't know how those brews go over with locals, but I love them. The bartenders are good about telling you that these pints are a bit more expensive and will let you have a taster if you're unsure about what pint to have. Have I mentioned what a scene this joint is? True to it's name the beautiful people show up in droves on a pleasant sunny day. Expect the patio and bar to be crowded and bring some patience dealing with the endless line of chads and trixies paying for a single beer with CC or debit-cash people! read more

This is ale a true house with the 29th Annual Old Ale Fest conning up 25-27 November. Inside is large with plenty of room to sit stand or fall over and the patio offers up it's open air space as well. We ate and I enjoyed the fish and chips. The crowd was mixed age but professionals. Probably the most famous pub in this bit of Fulham, any cab driver will use it as a landmark and everyone from Sloanes to Football fans seem to frequent this place. It's really well known for its selection of beers and lagers and wins awards of the 'Best London Pub' variety based on this. I don't know a huge amount about beers but when I asked for a Leff Blonde they did hand me a little booklet featuring a selection of similar types with descriptions and information which was cool. In the summer this place is definitely at its best as the pub pretty much encourages the whole of Parson's Green to become its beer garden with staff allowing glasses and bottles to be taken out. There's a nice BBQ too which is ultra simple but rarely makes a mistake on the beef burgers or hot dogs. read more

Just off New Kingsroad placed in the heart of Fulham there is this pub famously called Sloany Pony. Following thier concept trendy Hoxton came up witha similar concept called the Hoxton Pony - that makes me laugh. The name Sloany evolved from the girls who walk up and down Sloane square on a Sunday shopping and 'latteing'. Imagine it is summer and everyone can sit outside in the patio, you can order a pims or beer and spend all Sunday plotting along sitting. The out door party has a feel of a BBQ party and often enough funny conversations evolve with the people cramped next to you at your pick nick table. In summer they have a BBQ outside where you can pick and mix your ingredients and order a hot dog or Hamburger, £6.50 with extra topping does not bother the Chelsea/Fulham crowed. This place is a proper gathering, it is entertaining but at the same time fun -lets start mingling. read more

This place is a real spectacle and should be visited just to see the Chelsea and Fulham set in full flow, a great place to people watch and have a good chuckle. The pub prides itself on the beers it sells and the bbq that is has in the summer months and the reviews and awards that is has got. To be fair they do a good job with the beers but this place on a week-end evening is full of toffs, the bar is rammed and it takes twenty minutes to push to the bar, get a beer and get back outside. If it chaotic but you have to go to experience it and have a good time. Mad busy but a great night out, it can get too busy, if so, take it in enjoy the atmosphere and then push off into Fulham Broadway and become human again. read more

Always seems to be a crowd here even on weekdays from lunch on. Typical pub with a menu that is a bit more ambitious than most but still about as average. I have always liked my food and will go back but it is not a, god I am really craving a blah from the white horse. Food wise, I have had sausage and mash, the sunday roast, custard tart(mildly disapointing) and the rabbit and crawdad stargazy pie. Don't worry the crawdad head stares out of the pie not the rabbit's.. All were nice but remember what I said a few lines ago. The best in value and taste I would say is the Sunday Roast. They have a decent selection of beer on tap and in bottles, sell mixed drinks, wine and champagne.. oh and non alcohalic stuff too! The downstairs can fit a good size crowd and they have tv screens, but I have never seen them play anything on them even during big events. The upstairs dining and the back room dining are cozier, quiet and away from the crowd so good for familes at most anytime. I advise prebooking for meals. The outdoor area is large and looks upon Parsons Green. They just had it remodeled so it looks great and even have outdoor heaters everywhere good as long as the wind isn't blowing! It can accomodate a large crowd so maybe I am just seeing all the smokers hanging around. It will be lovely in the summer. I think this is the first review I've ever written whilst still on the premises... When you get a nice spacious, airy room filled with magnificent beers from around the world, and then put a bunch of friendly staff behind the bar, you're on the way to having a sure-fire winner. If a review were simply about the pub, rather than the experience one has whilst there, then this'd be a safe hit into 5-star country. Am going to have to mark it down a star though because of the frustration involved in going along on a sunny Saturday. Firstly, it fills up really quickly, and it's a completely personal bias, but it fills up with the types that I wouldn't usually be sharing a pub with. Probably the worst aspect of this is the rude encroachment and the increasing shouting, until your nice "meeting a friend for a beer" at your table turns into a cramped screaming match. The bar staff were very helpful, but in places unnecessarily bureaucratic - we arrived at 11:45 and wanted to order breakfast and run a tab. Firstly the barmaid had to go & ask whether they started serving at 11 or 12, then she said that we could only order via table service, and then that we had to order food to start a tab. Given that it was the same girl who eventually came to our table (and how at the time there was nobody else there), I can't see why she couldn't have just taken our order & started our tab. But that nonsense aside - The White Horse is a lovely environment, and has a nothing short of spectacular range of beers (Continental & American beers, as well as well-maintained Real Ales). The food's nice & not overpriced, and if you could time your visit on a day where there was a large horse-related carnival just outside the M25 you'd probably find it to be a very pleasant environment. read more

Stocked with dazzling beer, plenty of space, good food, knowledgeable staff and chalet-loads of local hoorays, the White Horse is definitely worth a visit. The range of beer offered here has few rivals in West London. A staggering 200 types in bottles. Eight beers on cask and a large number of other beers on tap. Every year it plays host to the four day Old Ale Festival, momentarily boosting their selection yet further. Prices are reasonable too: ale is around £3.50 a pint and while some of the bottles are expensive, there are some real bargains to be had e.g. 35cl of 10% Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout for an incredible £4.65, around £2 cheaper than the Draft Houses. There's plenty of space and seating too in the sprawling downstairs, a mixture of chairs, benches and comfy sofas perfect for accommodating drinkers feeling the full effects of their stronger beers. There was a bit of pressure on seating on the Tuesday evening we swung by but this eased after an hour or so. Its nickname, the 'Sloaney Pony' is deserved. When I was here there were several Binky and Spencer wannabes to chuckle at, and I was delighted to learn from fellow Yelper Ian P that an episode of Made (Up) in Chelsea had been filmed there only a few weeks ago. However, as a favourite drinking spot of Chelsea football fans before and after games, it also attracts a rather different type of customer too, as its otherwise baffling inclusion on the bar of Carling (?!), Guinness and Grolsch attests to. And come beer festivals, you'll find another type of punter still in the form of bearded, red-faced, older male CAMRA members. The food was pretty decent, if somewhat pricey. I had a rather dainty but tasty serving of bangers and mash covered with steamed red cabbage for £12, but was dissuaded from dessert by the £7-£8 prices. So overall, pretty good. Definitely worth checking out for its amazing range of ever-changing beer. Just avoid Chelsea match days and be ready for those Sloanes. read more

I've gotta admit, I don't mind riding the Sloaney Pony every now and again. It really does have 8 cask ales on offer and over 130 bottled beers from around the world. Liberty Ale anyone? Or how about a Goose Island IPA? Anchor Steam? Sierra Nevada? Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout? Oh yes, oh yes. Can you say beervana? (The selection brought a beer-tear to my Portland-loving eyes. Big beerdrops, scout's honour.) It really does source amazing local, regional and national offerings that rotate each season. The BBQ is stunning ranging in an entire pig on a spit roast with apple sauce to your back-bacon cheeseburger. There's really not a better way to spend a summer afternoon. And that patio. With picnic tables. And umbrellas. On the green. The only thing missing most of the year is the sun... There you have it. I, Laura N, admit to riding Sloaney Pony and liking it. We were suppose to meet a group of friends at the White Horse so we hopped on the tube and headed out. On our ride out I was thinking..man...this is a bit away from central London but I didn't care. We get off at the station and figured out how to get here and our friends were not there. So we called them and they said we were at the wrong White Horse. So we sat down and enjoyed a pint or two. It would have been a great place for a larger group...much better than the OTHER White Horse. I love getting lost in my travels...good times! read more

The Sloaney Pony is ok, but nothing more. It's kindof like that college bar that you always went to even though a nicer place with better offerings was just down the street. The White Horse is a Parson's Green institution, with its outdoor bbqs in the summer and wood paneled interior. They have (I'm told) a decent beer selection, and they do sell champagne (a must with my London set), but they don't do any cocktails (aka, no mojitos, sadly) and I find their Pimm's cups to be watery and somewhat lacking. Of course I'll go back, because everyone does. Their chips are nice, and if you're lucky enough to get a seat outside during good weather, the people watching can't be beat. The young professional crowd in this area always results in fascinating conversation with random strangers and a good spot to catch up with old friends. Oh Sloaney Pony... you slay me. read more

A friend that lives in London recommended The White Horse to us and after eating here, I sent him a bottle of vodka and a hooker in order to express my sincere gratitude. Thank you notes are so 2010. First: Jerusalem artichoke, Shiitake mushroom and watercress salad. Are you kidding me? This is a salad that takes balls to put on a menu and even more balls to order. And let's all just be glad that I have the biggest lady balls of them all, because this salad rocked my world far more than any tea bagging experience that I have ever had! I doubt many people know what a Jerusalem artichoke even is, quite frankly, I've only seen them on a menu twice; ever. They are the "heart" or meat of a specific kind of sunflower and they taste very similar to actual sunflower seeds. I think they are delicious and this salad even more so! Second: Lamb shank and mashed potatoes. If lamb is cooked well, you can rarely go wrong, especially with my particular affinity for eating young animals. The lamb was cooked perfectly, flaking off the bone. The delicious mashed potatoes (the perfect consistency) sat in between the lamb and one of the most delicious sauces I've ever laid my spork upon. Final: CHEESE PLATE. That's right. I chose cheese over chocolate. Somebody revoke my woman card. STAT. But cheese is soooooo good. All British cheeses - Stinking Bishop, Keens Cheddar and Colston Basset Blue, I cannot image a better way to end an amazing meal on a cold rainy night in London. Dinner for four with multiple drinks was 115 pounds. NO WAY! Best deal ever! EVER! The service was a bit slow, but friendly. I think it's a European thing... Finally, this bar and restaurant is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Fireplaces, chairs that you sink into and never want to emerge from, leather sofas, antique end tables. This is a place you can throw your feet up, throw back a beer, and settle in to listen to a stranger's story about that time a hooker shot breast milk at him in a Mexican cantina. read more

This place was a gem for my first experience at a British gastropub. Great service and delicious food overall. Our waitress was helpful and polite. I ordered the halibut with squid, caviar, and potatoes in a cream sauce. It wasn't too heavy, but the flavors were richly intoxicating and went well together. They had tons of delicious beers as expected, but I really favoured the Belgian beers on tap as they were lighter. I ordered the chocolate dessert which was so good, I scraped the bottom of the dish. If you like men who dress 'preppy,' this is your spot! Fine, not every man was dressed like a prepster, but yeah, a good portion were. The women were a bit more dolled up. I'm a big beer fan and noticed the tons of choices here. I did inquire as to a few and was told they were bottled (much prefer draguht). After a long day of football watching and beer , I asked what ciders are on draught. Just Aspall. That was a bit of a let down considering they are known for their selection. We were able to stalk a bit and managed to take over a table outside. Score! We ordered some bar bites as they were more reasonable than the dinner menu and more in line with what we wanted at the time. The chicken wings are good and the chips were very good. I loved the outdoor area. Right...maybe the red bulbs in the heat lamps was a little aggressive (we were directly underneath them) but the fact they have heat lamps makes me happy to know they will keep the outside open into late Autumn as the temperatures drop. I went in very early for a quick bite and was very surprised by my meal; I had a roast beef sandwich which was, although criminally low on meat, very good, and my wifes chicken sandwich was actually excellent. The beer selection is unparalleled in West London, and while I agree the crowds can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, if you happen to score a seat on the patio and get comfortable for a day of drinking there are really very few London pubs that can compete. This pub looks great upon first inspection. There's an outside area with heating, a giant area on the ground floor with fun large farmhouse-style tables and benches and an upstairs area too. The beer selection is huge with pretty reasonable prices. However, upon closer inspection I found this pub severely lacking and it pissed me right off. First of all, the outdoor area with heating isn't heated. There are red lights aimed towards some of the tables but sitting directly underneath one you wouldn't know it was a heating lamp. I'm pretty sure it's just a red light bulb. Either turn up the heat or ditch the lights because these fake heating lamps pissed me off. Secondly, the indoor seating options are completely inappropriate for the crowd. Most of the crowd was in parties of two which is not conducive to large farmhouse-style tables and benches. What you wind up with is the giant tables being occupied by only four people, two on one end and two on the other and a giant empty space in the middle. I believe this pub should seriously reconsider the size of their tables. Finally, this place was not crowded but, due to the aforementioned seating arrangements, there was no place to sit. We could have asked a couple to let us sit in the empty area on the large tables but then we'd be asking them to move every time we wanted to order or go to the loo, not really ideal. There were, however, huge areas in the back and upstairs with tables covered in tablecloths and 'please wait to be seated' signs that were completely empty. These empty areas with tablecloths were really pissing me off. I believe this pub should really reconsider their seating arrangements. I wanted to like this place. I was really happy upon entering but got progressively angrier as the evening wore on. The staff seemed really nice and the beer selection, as mentioned, was fine. But, the pub vibe was douchey business suits and awkward dates and the seating arrangements were ill-planned. If you want to be a fancy restaurant, ditch the pub scene. If you want to be a pub, ditch the fancy restaurant seating. I saw numbers on the tables. There's nothing wrong with gastropubs. Embrace one or the other but this schizo thing really pissed me off. read more

I have been to the White Horse over ten times during my visits in London (lived 3 months over the summer & and a week trip this year). They are one of the premier beer bars in the city. Some of the beers they sell in bombers you cannot even find in the states, so that was very welcoming. I had to try a wide range of beers, but ultimately my favorite was a sour brown ale brewed in England. (I was shocked by this beer!) If you have any questions about the beer, do not hesitate the ask. The servers are very knowledgeable, but for the more advanced beers, only one or two people have the proper knowledge. They will talk your ear off about their beers. I was nice to see the staff as excited as we were to talk about the beer. I could tell they do not get very many people with extensive knowledge of American micro-brews, so they took the chance to show us what they knew. I will be coming back every time I am back in London going forward! read more

It is in a lovely part of town to start with, so this pub has unfair advantage, one might say :) It is also conveniently located for Chelsea FC fans, easily on the way for a pre-game pint (or few) and a great place to stop for a BBQ on the way home! Came here while visiting my sister. Went to watch a world cup game. The TV's are placed in somewhat awkward angles if you'd like to be sitting. The waitstaff were every bit accommodating to our game watching needs. Did not try the food, but to an American, I thought that the beer selection was pretty adequate containing some decent brews I had not yet had. I often go to London to visit family, and try to get out for dining whenever possible. One of my aunts who lives in Wimbledon suggested I go here if i was looking for a good pub lunch. The White Horse is a quintessential pub done right. The setting and dark wood panelling is very good, as is the lack of music. While in the states (and loads of places in the UK) this might seem odd and unsettling, I found it very enjoyable. The beers on tap are excellent, and the large couches and padded chairs are a perfect complement for sitting back in to enjoy a pint. I started with sweetbread, which was delicious. Though as an appetizer it certainly did not fill me up. So I went for the fish and chips. Maybe it was because I was hungry and had been out by the river all day, but I still think that along with the mushy peas, those were as good fish and chips as I have ever had. Additionally, by being outside of the main touristy area of London, The clientele (for what I could see) mostly consisted of locals and reasonably savvy foodies who know their way around the dining scene. If you are ever in Parson's Green, definitely stop in for a pint and some food. read more

White Horse has been a popular hanging out spot amongst my magic circle, whether mates night out, bday celebration, or summer BBQ. A non-drinker like me even attempted to taste the liquid diet last night, the Belgian La Trappe White and meantime's rarest. 150+ cask ales, keg beers, and in bottles are on offer. Imagine English Cask Ale... using American Hops. My beaver crowd also celebrated the Independence Day for an evening BBQ in the garden - the most American beer on draught the UK has ever seen. Whitehorse welcomes your bringing your own magic. We danced w/ specially made birthday cup cakes around the wooden table just past midnight on the Thanksgiving night. It is simply a fun place to hang out in the holiday seasons I'd recommend :-) read more

As tourists, we had a pint with Fish and Chips here, right off the Covent Garden station on the Picadilly line. The staff was friendly and the upstairs dining room was upscale and well-kept. The food was fantastic and the prices were fair. Would definitely return. read more

The food in here is fantastic. Akin to even the nicest restaurant. Ask the knowledgeable staff and they will help you match up your drinks to your meal choices. With more than 100 different types of beer/lager/ale it will take many visits to crack the list. There really is something to suit all tastebuds, from balsamic tasting beer, spicy beer, pale ale, Christmas ale, honey ale. Anything and everything. Yummy. It was the perfect place to spend New Year. Not too busy, but not too quiet and they even put on some fireworks. Only downside is it is quite pricey, then it is London. And it's quite far out - situated less than a minute from Parsons Green tube station. read more

Been here several times. The White Horse is certainly one of the top pubs in London. Very clean and upscale in terms of the decor, layout and servers. The beer selection is outstanding, with a nice range of British cask ales and tons of bottles. They also provide a nice bottle menu so you can browse through your options. The prices are OK but a touch above average, I would say, on the cask ales. The bottle prices are quite myriad but there are some good deals. I have not tried the food here but I've seen it and it looks good. Again, not priced competitively but not super expensive, either. I would recommend visiting the White Horse during the afternoon if you are just interested in sampling the beers, as the crowds can get pretty intense most evenings. There is a tube nearby so getting to and from the pub is pretty simple. Overall a good place to visit in London. One of the top beer bars in the city. read more

This is a good pub, that does good grub. It has a great selection of beers too. My mate and I had a couple of drinks downstairs first. They;ve got a good selection of beers and hand pulled ale's. We then went upstairs and had some good pub food. We both ate the calves liver, with mash and bacon and I doubt you'll get better pub food. It was slightly expensive, though. Godd for a drink and good for food. If you're in Parsons Green area then give it a try. read more

A nice place. We had the luck of living near here for a 5-week stay so went a few times. Impressive beer collection and reasonably priced, especially for London. Maybe its because of my own public school education coupled with a low self esteem but something about The White Horse turns me into a raving, salivating socialist. I have nothing against public school people, in fact I may even have discriminated in their favour before, and there is something about the Jilly Cooper polo playing type. But it is when the Fulham Fundamentalists get together and yap like a pack of Quantox hunting hounds that I take exception. They are using their schooling as a sharp object, as a weapon of social exclusion. They are saying through their rugby shirts and badly highlighted hair - 'dont come near us unless you went to Blah'. And its the mediocre public schools that are the worst, playing on their 2nd XI insecurities well into middle age when most of us have learnt that meritocracy trumps aristocracy. And so the White Horse remains a long standing refuge for the less imaginative privately educated. They come here in droves and enjoy the wide variety of beers on tap, the thoughtful wine list and the heavily staffed bar (you rarely wait for more than a few seconds). The menu is upper end bar food with generous quantities and plenty of posh bangers and mash type stuff. In summer the outside BBQ is popular and the Pashminas spill out onto Parsons Green. The only time the White Stuff and Bodens give way is when Chelsea are playing at home. Sensible really. Maybe its not their fault. Maybe they have never felt the urge to challenge their pre-destination. Perhaps they are extremely happy - they certainly seem happy. I dont wish to burst their comfort bubble. I just want to break the lock on their kennel and let them run free. But I doubt any would leave. read more

Good food, but I wouldn't recommend going on Sunday unless you are after the Sunday Roast... and then, get there early. Diner in Crime (DINC) did a lot of research before choosing the White Horse as our final dinner location in London. Seems it was one of the first "high end" gastropubs in the area and said to have amazing food and drink. And it's true, it did have amazing food... but something seemed very wrong that fateful Sunday which makes me wonder if after their great success, the White Horse has begun to rest on their laurels a bit. We had made reservations online, as is quite customary in the States, but seemed very much out of the ordinary for the waitstaff. Took us a good five minutes to find someone who could tell us how to claim our reservation and then find our own table which had my name written on it. But before we even got to our table, we met our waiter who -- while seeming as if he was about to suffer from a nervous breakdown -- informed us that most of the menu was no longer available. Undaunted, we took our seats and set out to learn exactly what they did still have on menu. Turns out many restaurants in London specialize in a Sunday Roast, and the White Horse is no exception. This particular Sunday, at the fairly early dining hour of 7:30pm, they were 100% out of the roast making materials... as well as a few other dishes that shared common materials. Worse yet, because it was Sunday, a number of their specialty items were not on the menu at all, having been displaced by the Sunday Roast. In particular this meant no "Toad in the Hole", which DINC and I had decided to get ahead of time as it is a distinctive British dish meant for two. After much discussion, and being won over by the extensive beer selection, we decided to stick it out, and I'm glad we did. For appetizer we enjoyed the mushroom and chestnut soufflé, which was light and airy while still being incredibly flavorful. For mains, I ended up with the crayfish and rabbit pie, which came presented with a whole crayfish bursting out of the top of the pie. A+ on presentation *and* taste! DINC got a Scottish salmon and spinach dish that she reported really hit the spot. Dessert, apple fritters for the lady and a treacle sponge for me, were not really worth eating. The sponge, in particular, was still partially frozen. To make up for the uneven desserts, absentee menu choices, and somewhat manic service, the White Horse does sport an amazing bottled beer selection. Over the course of the evening we enjoyed a lemon grass beer, a Scotch ale, a traditional British ale, a Somerset cider, and a vintage barley wine. Each served in the appropriate glass for the given beer style or brew house. I do wish I could go back and try the evening again without the Sunday menu disappointment, but even with the bumpy start to the evening, once we got into the grove it proved to be a lovely night out... and only a block walk back to the tube station. read more

Don't bother. The food is mediocre, the beers are all empty forcing you to select another & they round this out with the most disinterested staff I've ever seen. We waited at a table 15 minutes & couldn't get a server walking past to acknowledge us so we temporarily satisfied ourselves with luke warm table water. When asked at the bar, they do in fact offer table service. Not sure even the Queen gets served here. read more

Very nice pub in Fulham. I drink here sometimes after work, they have charming garden, perfect for the summer. The beer selection is good, also the food. Traditional pub food, fish and chips, etc.. but I never had bad experience with the food here. In rush hour the service is slow but still OK. read more

Was lucky enough to stop here during American craft beer month. That's all I have to say I'm spoiled with all the amazing craft beer in the US and there's really nothing quite like it in all the rest of the world especially here in London. Ruined by their staff. Lovely location in summer, great BBQ and amazing selection of ales. BUT! That said, and the reason I went to the trouble of installing an app to write this review is, their staff. I have been coming here for years and just want things to improve. The bar staff are the slowest in the world. They never attempt to serve in order and are invariably rude. Add to this that they are almost always under staffed. It almost ruins the experience. I wish they'd jack up their act as I otherwise really enjoy the place. read more
