Hub and I were treated very kindly here. It's our first visit to this town and, so far so good. I went for the fish and chips which, was a huge portion. I ended up telling hub not to order any food other than oysters. The fish and chips were on the greasy side along with the fries though. However it was still very flavorful and very filling. Lunch were paired with nice IPA and a teeny glass of theirBlueberry lemon drop. This lemon drop was made strong it made me wink several times. Whoa! That was a good small treat. The vibe was on the Noisy side than expected --given there weren't many people but crashing or falling of dishes was enough to turn heads. Anyway, this is an Irish pub that serve their top fave dishes. People seemed happy and content with their meals. All in all, it was a pleasant, chill afternoon. Walked in to try this place for lunch and spent about 20 minutes trying to get service before walking out... We headed downstairs to try and snag a table on the patio but there wasn't any servers to be found. We headed back upstairs and were told we would be helped in just a moment. Five minutes later they told us we could take the last table downstairs. We sat outside and waited another 10 minutes. Our server said she would be back with menus but alas - no menus were given so we ended up leaving. The staff was obviously overwhelmed with the rush as there were many tables assigned to one server. For management, please consider staffing more on the weekend because you lost our business and two other tables who were also trying to sit outside - we all left together. read more

It was a hot day and the restaurant was busy. Outdoor seating was closed, so we chose to take our food to go. We got calamari, chowder, and two four-piece fish and chips. We were turned off by WH's description as a sports bar, but craving fish & chips near the end of our stay on the island we came in anyway and were glad we did. Friendly and quick service, the food was quite good, better than the average Irish/British pub. The Irish Spring Rolls in particular were a happy surprise, great balance of horseradishy spiciness with the savory meat and cheese. The fish and chips was excellent, generous portions and a light batter around perfect fish. Even the beets & greens salad was great. Got to the island after a crazy ferry trip. Came here and got a seat on the patio. One of the few (maybe 2) places here that has any kind of waterfront seating . Had the crab salad, it was great. Hubby had the Crispy Chicken burger, and he really liked it. Drinks were good. A nice mix of local people and visitors. The view was amazing. Was a great afternoon. You may find yourself here in the winter time with most restaurants closed and the White Horse as your only option for food. That's how we wound up here. The last very out wasn't for a while, and at 6 we wandered in. I tried for a hot chocolate, though it was lukewarm and watery. The caesar salad I got was overwhelmed by the croutons (I'm a lover of garlic, though these were so perfumed with garlic it was nearly inedible). Luckily, the veggie burger and fries was a solid option. The people working here were kind, and it was nice that they let us hang out here and sit around for a while. This might be a good place to get drunk, hang out and have a few drinks but honestly I think it ends there. Here's the breakdown: Fish and chips: fish was fine, not spectacular, fries were pretty awful. This is something that should be really hard to mess up. Almost like the oil wasn't hot enough? Or maybe they were re-cooked? Shoe string fries with some skin but soggy and greasy. Pear, walnut and blue cheese salad: it was okay, but not for $17. I wish I had taken a picture to demonstrate. I ordered a side of salmon as well that didn't come out till later and was raw inside. It smelled super fishy. Waitress was nice about it being late and didn't charge extra for it so I brought it home and I'll cook it through later. Basically, I would advise against going there for anything beyond a couple beers. read more

Wow! I haven't been on the island for a long time. I stopped, on my way to Rosario just to connect to the island and feel like home again. The view was amazing. The staff; hmm, not so much. This is definitely the most "touristy" of the bars in Eastsound -- the rest are more "local" -- but we really enjoyed it. The service was SO friendly -- the servers and bartenders actually seem to enjoy their jobs. And, of course, the view out the big picture window out the back is just amazing, and probably the main reason I'd recommend this place. Atmosphere is sort of a mix between Irish pub and local sports bar. They also have a pool table. We didn't eat here, just had drinks and lingered to enjoy the view. Even though it was a Saturday night, nobody pressured us out of our seats at the window, which I appreciated. We went in the off-season but I expect this place would get a bit nuts in summer. Come here if you're on Orcas and want a nice warm place for a drink with a great view. read more

A great down to earth Irish pub. Staff very friendly. Beautiful view of the sound and a Summertime patio downstairs (dog friendly on the patio) Appetizers are delicious. Best front row seat in town over Madrona, but service is always complicated. They make it clear you are a nuisance and outdoor seating is the best view while they roll your eyes at you. We still come back because we can walk from our house, but mainly for cocktails or beverages. Definitely not for the food. read more

Not many restaurants stay open late in Orcas so we chose this one. The oysters were AMAZING, highly recommend. I had the Cesar salad for my meal and it wasn't enjoyable but my boyfriend had the cod sandwich and it was wonderful! The service was great but you have to be 21 and up to sit in the bar area which is usually all thats available so just keep that in mind. read more

Our favorite stop on the island. They were so nice & family friendly & the beet salad was SO SO good.

We sat down on the patio/bar area below after a long day of hiking. Service was fantastic and the view couldn't be beat. Drinks and food were okay for the price (a little pricey for what they were) which is the only reason it's not five stars but with limited options on the island and the good service, we had no real complaints! Would visit here again though I think I'd be interested in trying upstairs to get the full menu. read more

We both had the fish & Chips...3 large pieces with plenty of crispy skinny fires! They even brought Malt Vinegar....not everyone does that! Solid pub fare with something for most. The beef stew I had was tasty. Staff was friendly and attentive even under busy conditions.

Came in to a relatively empty bar and waitress told us she "would get to us when she could", and we awkwardly stood in the front for over 5 minutes. I ordered the pub fries and they came out alarmingly quick (2 minutes tops), the grease clearly needed to be changed in the fryer. I also found a hair on the top. At this point I was just content paying and leaving. My fiancé had the calamari and said the poor quality and excess amount of batter took away from the quality of fish. Will not be going back here. Likely an okay watering hole if you're going in for a drink but don't recommend testing out the food. read more

We started our visit attempting to walk into the open bar only to be yelled at by the waitress to wait at the door until she could seat us. About 15 seconds later, her partner motioned us over with hand gestures to seat ourselves in the bar (that was literally empty). I understand we are on our way out of a pandemic, but myself and my coworker were masked up and being very respectful. They treated us like we were a nuisance just by showing up. The views from the bar are amazing. That is the saving grace of the horrible service and food. This is actually my first yelp review, but I felt the service and food was so out of line that I had to warn others. Also, they were blasting music at 6pm , like to the point it was difficult to hear your company across from the table. I get it's a bar, but it is also Orcas Island in the winter...kind of a weird situation at the time we were there and the daylight pouring through the window. The waitress took our order for drinks and food and that went well until the food came. My coworker ordered poutine and it was like nothing I've ever seen: burnt french fries that looked soaked in a bucket of grease with a tomato based sauce on top! Not gravy and cheese curds like every other poutine anyone has ever ordered anywhere. No flavor and greasy. I feed my dog better food. My fish and chips were disgusting. The fries were a burned out mess and the fish was no flavor and dripping of grease. The whole time the bartender/waitress was irritated we were even there. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND HORRIBLE FOOD!!!!
