I was a former employee at The Ritz-Carlton, now The Whitley. I was a banquet server, catering director, and bartender. Tonight, 2/28 was my first time as a guest. I was amazed and overwhelmed with the level of service I received. Everyone was so willing to be accommodating and welcoming. I felt like royalty. The men tending bar; Antonio, Damon, Tseguye, and Chris were awesome. I found the MOD ,Caroline , to mention how pleasant and wonderful the staff was. She was a delight and a treasure to converse with. My stay here has been nothing but pleasant; so good that I'm staying another night! Thank you The Whitley , for making me feel special ! Edit: I had a medical emergency in the middle of the night. I didn't want to call 911. I went to the lobby and was helped by Netina and Jorge. These two went above and beyond to ensure I was okay. I was provided juice and they monitored me till I felt better..I'm not a severe diabetic, but I do need medication occasionally. I'm so glad they were there for my time of distress. Not the best luxury collection hotel but it was okay for my one night stay during February in Atlanta. I needed a hotel to stay prior to my flight out of Atlanta so I decided to book this spot. I came in around 7pm and checking in was pretty easy. They had $62 valet parking and $50 self parking per day. I just valet parked. I stayed on the 20th floor. My room was pretty spacious and my bed was comfortable. The shower (no bath) was also big and water pressure was okay. The bathroom was also pretty spacious and ample lighting to do my makeup in the morning. There was a fridge but it was stocked with items you pay for if you take it. No coffee machine but I did have complementary breakfast/coffee that I did not use. My room also had a desk and sofa. I was pretty comfy during my one night there. During my time there I did go to their restaurant, Traderoot. The staff didn't acknowledge me when I walked in and walked around it trying to find where to check in since no one greeted me. When I finally asked the waitress where to get a table she finally seated me. Annoying. Food and drinks were very mid. The entire hotel really isn't that large. The lobby area isn't huge. I did like the location since it was nearby everything. For a short stay there it was fine but I'm not sure for a long stay. read more

This place is amazing - from the time you pull up you're treated like royalty. The valet opens your car door - the bellhop grabs your bags, opens the door for you and escorts you to check In. We were upgraded to the 22nd floor with a corner room. Shortly after getting to our room a bottle of wine was sent up to us. The bed was comfortable and there was a couch by the window with a view. The robes in the room were nice. The restaurant however was a disaster - the service was spotty, not all dishes came out - we had to keep reminding them what our order was - also we could never get a seat at the bar while we were there. I stayed at Whitely due to a midtown event. This was my firsta time staying at this hotel chain from Marriott. I truly enjoyed the experience and very nice hotel and properly maintained. The room was spacious and clean. It had nespresso machine for coffee making with half a dozen pods free of cost so enjoyed that great coffee as well. The gym was crazily good .. huge plus all the equipment you could dream of ! Absolutely awesome ! Water bottles, fresh towels and huge and clean bathrooms with shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The lounge was decent - with good choice for breakfast. I am not going to speak to the hotel rooms. However, the Whitley has hosted quite a few events that were terribly run, in my opinion. I bought tickets to an art and jazz "event" that didn't require a ticket for entry (so I wasted money). Also, the art was limited, and I thought it would be interactive for people who spent money. Instead, it was just one random artist selling art (as opposed to multiple artists), with jazz in the background. Again, some people bought tickets, but anyone could just walk in without showing their tickets. The jazz was okay, as it consisted of a small group ( who took some time getting started). The whole event was a complete waste of money. I would recommend going to a farmer's market or some of the festivals around town to buy art or hear music. The bar offered cocktails and food. However, both were unremarkable (nothing special). Another event that I went to was a New Year's Eve party. Again, it was a bust. The party was supposed to be a formal event for people who bought tickets for said event. However, there were a lot of football fans watching the college playoffs in the section that was supposed to be where the party was supposed to be. Additionally, the food was limited, and drinks took FOREVER to come out. There was not an organized system, and it was a logistical nightmare. Some people had a different experience if they bought a "VIP" ticket, and the music in the "standard" section was not for everyone. Some people got very drunk, and no one at the Whitley offered anyone Ubers or Taxis to assist. If you are coming into town, I would stay clear of this place for any of its poorly run events. This review is for the wine tasting that was held at the Whitley. I absolutely adore the Whitley. It's such a luxurious modern day hotel with elements of traditional clam. The tasting was delicious. We literally tasted over five different types of wine and the charcuterie board spread was divine. Full of delicious fresh cheeses, different various meats and amazing olives. The tasting was paired with the chefs catered plates that accompanied different wines as we enjoy the night. They had a wonderful photographer on staff that took our pictures and you were sent tour copies . Highly recommend attending any of their experiences. It's always an amazing time. read more

Supposedly upscale hotel that was a disappointment. Branded as The Whitley a luxury collection, I could honestly say,it is a failed attempt at luxury!!! First off - let's start with the rooms. They are nice, little bit outdated. Bed is comfy. My pillows were dirty, outlets didn't work, so I had to unplug the lamps to plug-in my computer. Water pressure on the 10th floor was low, and toilet didn't flush all the way! Customer service: well another awful thing. I wanted room service, and the online menu was not functional. I called the front desk and they re-routed me supposedly to in-room dining. Nobody was answering. I repeated the process except this time nobody at the front desk answered. I called 4 more times and finally asked for the manager. Few minutes later I got a call from someone asking me why do I need a manager!!! I said I cannot order food. The manager never called but sent Cody over to my room so I can place an order. Thanks to Cody - this is not a one star review!!! Next the hotel bar!!! Drinks are stiff but you will wait 20-25 minutes for a drink on a Friday night. Parking: valet is $62. I live in Vegas and top hotels don't charge that much. Additionally, I had to call several times to get my car. About 35-40 minutes wait time. We did a staycation here and it was quite lovely. Whitley is a very nice big hotel with nice rooms that have good bathrooms as well. The food options at the hotel were decent too. I was hoping for the pool to be little better but it was just ok. Overall this hotel is one of the best places to stay in Atlanta vacation or staycation. We enjoyed our time here and we were celebrating something as well so this was very convenient place in Atlanta. I will definitely recommend it as a place to stay in Atlanta. I decided to come here for a staycation, which I enjoyed. I'm not sure why this hotel is considered luxury. Albeit very nice. I understand that this used to be a Ritz, but it's not anymore. I ended up taking a Lyft to the hotel since the parking fees are astronomical and honestly insane. Even for the Monarch parking deck next door which is somewhere between $50 and $65 per night. Crazy. TLDR: It's clean, traditionally decorated, has a pretty good restaurant, the staff is friendly and accommodating, but luxury is lacking. The Room: My room was a king bed room but nothing fancy or remarkable. The furnishings were what you would expect from any modern/upgraded Marriott. Not quite to the standard of some of their other luxury properties. No microwave, no mini fridge, and NO coffee maker in the room. You can request mini fridge and coffee maker. They have free Starbucks coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Amenities: The hotel bar was very chic and had the price tags to show for it. I did dine in Trade Root for breakfast and got English muffin, three scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and grits for around $21. I also got a caramel latte which was delicious and around $6. The gym, pool, whirlpool, and sauna were all up to par and clean. The gym had a Peloton for those of you who like the bike. Lots of conferences/meetings were going on while I was there so it was buzzing. They also didn't have a sundry store to purchase little grab and go items. Or at least I didn't see one. We went on a Sunday (on my birthday!) for "tipsy tea." It was like a normal high tea experience with the tiered tray of assorted sandwiches and pastries, but with cold teas that were spiked with different types of gin. Given the location, the ambience is upscale. Tea was served in a little nook that was an offshoot of the lobby bar, and blocked off as a private area for teatime. There was one other group doing tea at the same time as us and one bartender who handled servicing the tea area. The bartender did a great job of explaining the tease and specifically introducing the gins. we had one tea where the heaviest flavor was peach and one where the heaviest flavor was cucumber. Both were tasty individually and when mixed together. They allowed us to order refills, which was nice given that the full experience is 2 hours long. We ended up leaving after about 90 minutes perfectly tipsy rather than staying to continue drinking more. Overall, this was a 3.5 star experience for me as far as high tea experiences in the city. It was a preset menu rather than one where you get to make selections, but it was enjoyable. The key is in having the right company with you!! read more

I loved my stay at the Whitley Atlanta! I look forward to my next visit. We actually happened upon it because we were left in a lurch with other lodging that didn't workout and couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly, cheery and helpful and when I needed something it was sent up timely. The bed was comfortable and I slept mostly well. And the property is beautiful, chic, well kept and felt secure. There are a couple reasons it slightly missed the mark for a full five stars. Firstly, the room booked was a "Deluxe" however it's not clear what makes it deluxe as the website doesn't clearly outline the differences (the descriptions read the same!) and we were placed on the side of the hotel closest to the road. This is important to highlight as the road noise was at times unbearable with sirens and traffic making it harder to sleep. The other side of the hotel has a view of the ATL skyline that I would have deemed to be more of a "deluxe" amenity. Additionally the room details both robe and slippers and I didn't find any slippers. It's not a big deal and I probably could've just asked for it but considering the rate difference between the standard and deluxe I would've assumed it'd already be featured. Anyway none of this was really a deal breaker for me as the hotel was otherwise above and beyond my expectations. Lastly, this may be better reserved for the restaurant and bar on property, but the staff experience in the restaurant and bar was starkly different than that of the hotel staff as they were far less hospitable. read more

Wow! To say I'm impressed is an understatement! While I usually stay downtown for my work trips, the usual hotels were sold out so I ventured over to Buckhead and stayed at The Whitley! Upon arrival, I could tell it was going to be a lovely experience! The entire hotel was decorated for the holidays and it looked stunning with the greenery and white lights. Once inside, I went to check in and the staff was super helpful and incredibly friendly! They also had candy bowls out which I loved (I have a bad sweet tooth). I was quickly given my keys and off to my room I went. The room itself was clean and pretty too with an amazing view at evening. I put my stuff down and then went to the lounge which again was very nice and had everything I needed (tea, coffee, salad, and dessert). The next parking I went to the gym where they had a pretty good setup with cardio equipment (including peloton bikes) and plenty of weights). Each day was a good experience at this hotel. I will absolutely stay at this hotel again and was very happy with everything. read more

Great luxury hotel in the heart of Buckhead close to the mall with upper end shops and a number of dining and bar establishments. We had live music almost every night in the Whitley's bar! If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member, they have a wonderful Club Lounge as well! Parking is $50 to self park (but you must pay for in and out) or $60 per day for valet with free in and out. I would give 5 stars, but paying to park is quite honestly a scam in my opinion. read more

This hotel is a scam. I stayed there for 1 night. Checked out and there was nothing on my bill. The next day I received a receipt where someone charged room service to my room. I didn't receive any room service. My credit card was charged. I called the next day and front desk said charge would be reversed and show on my credit card in 3-5 business days. I called them back the next week after 3-5 business days and they said it was never initiated. Edith, director of front office, emailed me after my stay. I let her know the issue and she never responded. I also followed up with her after no response and have yet to receive a response. I stayed at the Whitley this week. I chose it because I expected a high-end experience. I was dismayed to discover - in the morning - that the shower in my room didn't work at all (the sink still did). I get it, hotels have a number of people moving in and out on a regular basis, and things happen. But I've since emailed them multiple times and I've yet to receive any response. I'm surprised - the hotel did not meet my expectations but also I would've expected somebody to reach out. I took video. From start to finish, my experience at The Whitley was deeply disappointing. The front desk staff -- specifically the African-American woman and the gentleman with glasses who was working early morning when we arrived -- were shockingly rude and unprofessional. The gentleman in particular was extremely nasty and even flagrant in his language towards me and my mother. At first, we gave him a pass since we had traveled overnight and were exhausted, but the encounter has continued to sit with me. This is not how guests should ever be treated. Hospitality is supposed to be rooted in courtesy and respect, and the staff here showed neither. As someone who travels often and has built a platform of over a million followers across Instagram and TikTok, I always remind businesses: you never know who you are speaking to. Treating people poorly not only ruins their stay -- it damages your reputation long-term. I will be making a video about this experience, and I assure you it will reach a wide audience. ***Warning: My room had roaches*** Came to this hotel for a stay-cation. Drove there and booked with the front desk the same night. The guy working was really nice and accommodating. The room was also really comfortable and we loved the decor. The issue came the next morning. While getting ready we saw several cockroaches in the room. Our room was on the 5th floor so if they were in our room then its likely that they're in the entire hotel. We checked out and left but later on I called the hotel to inform them of the issue. The lady I spoke with said she would look into it. However, she never asked for the reservation or the room number to investigate the issue. I asked her why she didn't ask for that information but she gave an odd response which led me to believe that she doesn't care and wont do anything about it. I didn't stay at the hotel but went here with family for a cocktail-making class, and it was such a fun experience! The bartender was incredibly welcoming, and we had some great conversations with him. He made drinks for everyone and guided us through making our own. My favorite was the blueberry ginger tequila cocktail--such an amazing mix of flavors! One thing they could improve on is adding more details about the class on their website. We were a little confused about the start time and how long the class would last. A nice surprise was that each group got their own cheese board, which was a great addition we didn't know about beforehand. The bartender, who was Ethiopian, also let us try some honey wine he made, which he mentioned is a popular drink in Ethiopia. It was so good! Does it exude luxury high-end? Yes. But when you check in, the valet harasses you and barely gives you a hot minute to compose yourself to get out of the car and check-in. Like, back off and let me breathe for a second. This was our first impression driving up to check into our hotel for the weekend. Stressful. They had issues letting me check in because my spouse was the main on our reservation. Never had this issue before with a Marriott but here we were. Back outside to switch places with my husband and deal with the valet guy asking once more what we wanted to do. Finally I had to ask the options and was rudely told valet is the only option for in and out service and self parking is by the hour. The room itself was nice and well appointed. The beds are comfy and you get a good night's rest. It's spacious and quiet as well. There was condensation on our windows each morning which made for a wet feel if you sat on the chaise in the room. Otherwise, great. Housekeeping was good. Our room was very clean. Loved it. Restaurant in hotel took forever to be served. Over 40 minutes for a salad and a scoop of icy vanilla ice cream. We wanted to leave but no one was staffing for us to ask to cancel and go elsewhere. It's a beautiful hotel and lives up to the luxury vibe but I think the customer service could be more on par with luxury. Would likely stay at a JW Marriott down the street next time. Luxury should be an all around feeel not just the decor of your building and rooms. read more

Beautiful place! First time here but I'm told it used to be the Ritz Carlton . We are here celebrating our friend's 76th birthday . What a beautiful celebration at a beautiful hotel. Hotel of luxury! I did not get the opportunity to tour the place but from what I did see it's gorgeous. So many meeting rooms and that's just the first floor. The lounge was full due to so many events tonight. Rooms are running b/t $300 to $500. Ouch! Our friend along with other guests are staying overnight here. He deserves it it's his birthday and he proposed to his longtime girlfriend. So we may be back for the wedding Valet parking $55. We parked at the Monarch which is next door - $20 parking. I snapped a couple of photos of the lobby and lounge area. The food was tasty! Appetizers - buffalo chicken egg rolls, salmon skewers, scallops wrapped with bacon. Chicken egg rolls were . A little spicy but tolerable. The main entree was mashed potatoes, pork roast, stewed collards, green beans, mashed sweet potatoes. There was also a pasta bar where they were preparing your pasta with grilled chicken or shrimp. Stayed here for a work trip, so I did not pay for the room. Just putting that out there first. Was able to check into my room a lot earlier than expected, which was wonderful for this weary and tired traveler. It's within walking distance to the MARTA station, but it can be a tiresome walk depending on the weather and your luggage situation. The bed, sheets, and pillows were wonderful. I've never had a hotel room that actually felt great to sleep in. Pillows are usually the hardest things to get right, and these pillows were great. Shower not only had the typical shower head, but also had the handheld extension. So thankful for that. Got lost trying to find the check in desk, since I entered through the side of the building and wounded up where all the conference rooms are. But you'll get the hang of it. I think my only wish is that I had a coffee maker in the room, instead of making coffee at the communal coffee area in the lobby. They have a little card that says you can request a coffee maker and mini fridge, but I didn't see that until it was too late. Wonderful experience. I will say the one negative thing was the very steep incidentals fee. $250 is very very pricey and I wish I had been informed of how much that was to begin with. I'm a Titanium Elite member and was placed in a room directly beneath the Club Lounge. Beginning around 10-11 PM, extremely loud noise started--furniture being dragged, cleaning activities, and constant disruptions overhead. It went on for hours and made it impossible to sleep. Despite being completely exhausted, I was told by the staff that my only option was to pack up and move rooms in the middle of the night--rather than simply pausing the work above. They said I was unlucky in the room they put me in.... I asked for a refund or at least a partial discount due to the inconvenience and lack of sleep, but was told there was nothing they could do. The team showed no empathy or concern for the disruption and discomfort they caused. This was a deeply frustrating experience and not at all reflective of the service I've come to expect as a loyal Elite guest. It's extremely disappointing to encounter this level of disregard at a hotel of this caliber. read more

What a sub-par experience for what is supposedly a high-end hotel. We stayed for one night and the overall experience was "meh" especially for the price (e.g. $50 self parking fee). My wife described it as an overbooked cruise ship with staff that were unable to anything but hand out sheets of paper. One nice touch before the harsh reality - the staff did deliver a complimentary bottle of wine to everyone on the club level just after check in. The problems: - the check in line was huge and disorganized. The staff had customized letters for guests, but they weren't in alphabetical order, and staff passed the pile from one to another saying "good luck" - the hand sanitizer at the front desk was clogged and splashed all over my wife's shirt - common areas weren't monitored - piles of coffee cups and glasses abounded in the lobby just outside the elevators - the full price of drinks at the bar were charged to my credit card without applying an Amex food and drink credit - with no indication that this would be fixed later - the breakfast line at 9:30 am was disastrous. Plenty of people being told that they should anticipate a 20-30 minute wait for a table of two while tables sat clearly empty. - we booked a reservation through OpenTable that wasn't honored - the excuse was "we are just too busy!" - until the food and beverage manager intervened - the breakfast food was not impressive - fried chicken and waffles had literally a child's plate chicken fingers on top of an overcooked waffle with a very cold slice of Brie - during the meal the wait staff kept piling up waste food on a tray right next to our table - occasionally covering it with a black napkin - overall, it would have been fine for an IHOP or Denny's but certainly not for the prices and aspirations that the hotel was trying to portray - no real help from the manager or front desk staff - just a shrug when told that their level of service was far below that when the Ritz had the building As we were walking out we saw a family trying to tip over the complementary coffee urn - which had run dry - to fill their cup. Thankfully, this didn't end in disaster, but the fact that they were having to do this within 20 feet of the front desk shows the lack of attention from both staff and management. read more

I recently had the chance to stay at The Whitley in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The luxury hotel, which used to be a Ritz-Carlton, was located near all of the big shopping centers and key dining establishments in the neighborhood. The check-in process was a breeze, and the staff was simply amazing in general. From the valets to the front desk crew to the folks maintaining the locker rooms at the pool, everyone was friendly, helpful, and diligent about their responsibilities. The hotel room was well-appointed and reasonably spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable, though there were some stains on the box spring and tears in my sheets, which were a bit unsettling. In fact, I found the room clean-ish...The back of the bathroom door had drips of a sticky, blue liquid all over it. I assumed some sort of detergent had splattered on it, but it was fairly noticeable, so I was surprised it had not been wiped off. In fact, I just did it myself, so that I would not continually touch it accidentally. In regards to the amenities, I did not try the restaurant or bar, but did hear positive reviews on them both. There was a section of the lobby that had coffee makers, fresh fruit, packaged candies, and/or cookies available throughout the day, which was a generous touch. There were also an indoor pool and hot tub, an outdoor lounge, and a large gym on the second floor. The gym offered a ton of new machines, 2 complete sets of hand weights, a mat (could have used at least 1 more), etc. There was also a spin bike, but it was a bit beat up in that the handlebars were loose, no matter how much you tightened the nob. Had a very nice weekend at The Whitley and loved the staff most of all. Easy check in and then a follow up call to make sure I liked my room. I'm Envoy Gold so nice perks like the lounge (1 day only due to refurbish) and free breakfast daily. My only problem was cold breakfast buffet food like potatoes and eggs. No idea why. Bar was fun and lively with really good food. I'd never heard of she-crab soup but it's great. Area is a shoppers dream with two huge upscale centers within walking distance. This place is truly amazing!!! Beds and pillows were super comfortable and staff was very welcoming. I've stayed in many hotels and resorts, but this place left me in awe. Kudos to whomever did their interior decorating. I loved all the artwork and chandeliers. The room was spacious overlooking the city area. Everything is spotless and smelled good throughout the whole place. I know it's weird to mention, but sometimes when places are old or normal wear and tear a place can smell musty. The hotel has a bar, a ballroom, spa, indoor pool with jacuzzi, dining area that offers breakfast brunch for $40/pp, and gym. It's pet friendly. read more

Luxury hotel but not at an insane price. My husband and I did a weekend trip here for our wedding anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. We were initially going to book at the St Regis (because we have reservations at The Garden Room) or another nearby hotel but couldn't swallow the price. I then stumbled upon the Whitley. From the photos and reviews it still seemed luxury without the 1k nightly room rate. The staff is friendly and attentive.
