Friday aug 29 th I was scheduled to see if my gums were healing. I never saw the dentist. They said I was late, but I had a text message with the time I showed up. They told me it was an error from the system. So I left. When I called the same day to reschedule. The front desk hung up on me. The whole staff and dr David Ganji are incompetent, unsafe and rude. I wanted to have a procedure here but let me start by saying that the dentist was completely rude and avoided making any assessment about my visit. He came in the room with his phone out, stood against the wall and said "what do you wanna do" I don't know you're the dentist! Proceeds to look at this phone, walks out, comes back tells the assistants to take care of me. I walk out the dental office and the dentist is outside on his phone eating chips. I get a call later that day asking about the procedure they wanted to do, they said I would have to pay 800$ out of pocket for a sedation medication, to which I said a pill for 800$? And they said yes, I went and got it for free through insurance from my primary care. Then they wanted to tackle on other procedures for out pocket costs that had nothing to do with my visit. I would not trust this place, they also have another office with Dr. Ganji. The front desk work to get your money and nothing else, if you have questions or concerns do not call them, call your insurance and report what is covered and what this office is trying to do to you. Original post was regarding a dental assistant whom is no longer there. I've always had a good experience with the actual dentist - BUT what I've noticed in other reviews is similar to my experience. It starts off great when you're new and once you become a patient it changes if you don't agree with something. I was originally quoted a certain price for an implant and when I was ready to move forward A year later it was $3000 more ?! I quickly said this is unreal and would not be paying that - the response came back condescending as if I were dumb and didn't understand the pricing. All you need to understand is it's $3000 more ! I said I would not pay that period ended with thank you and not rude - they were unhappy I didn't agree to proceed. I Never heard back from their office for our cleaning etc. sounds like you get black list when you don't fall for their pricing. I've always got follow up calls to schedule our cleaning etc. and honestly it was fine with me because that showed me how unprofessional they were. The receptionist in the front are somewhat kind. I highly recommend they aren't sitting there watching greys anatomy in front of children. Especially bloody espisodes. They want to do work that is not needed and when you question the receptionist she rudely replies she'll get to that. She then tries to guilt trip you when you question the 5,000 dollar out of pocket job done with anesthesia. I ask if it can be done with local anesthesia. She replies do you want her to suffer? Beware! This dentistry office only concern is whether you have an HMO , PPO , or will apply for care credit. They don't care about patient care ! Unprofessional personal at its finest. From top to bottom. Front office to the Dentists themselves. Went to get an extraction took a lot of x-rays and had the dentist tell me oh well you need this that and the other but it gets better he says "I have an infection in my gums " but then tells me after approval from my insurance they will call me to set up an appointment for everything else other than the extraction I initially came for and didn't even prescribe me antibiotics! Against my better judgment due facial swelling went back because they already took my x-rays to get my tooth extracted . (Which they didn't do ) . They proceeded to take another x-ray to tell me that I need to get a bone graph after the extraction when I decline bone graph they said oh yeah, we can do an extraction but the Lidocaine may not be as effective.. after telling the Dentist that I am ok with that because this has been ongoing and my tooth needs to be extracted! Not a root canal as they suggested, not a bone graph .. a simple EXTRACTION!! She agrees and sends the Financial Coordinator or the receptionist who is quite rude and inadequate at her job with a prescription for antibiotics.once again I was sent home with a tooth that obviously needs to be extracted & infected because they failed to take care of the problem the first time . This time I was actually given antibiotics. Moral of these visits are to tell you that WHITTIER DENTIST are money hungry. No offense to Ortencia & the previous review but I only heard someone tell her in the hallway that she needed to get a good review before she left for the day & not a minute later she walked in with the QR code asking me to post a review. THIS PLACE IS WORST THAN A CAR DEALERSHIP!!! I have never went to a dentist in pain & left in pain after 4 hours of just sitting & almost $1,500 short with no work done. The dentist came in did her examination & walked out. Then Liz (I think is her name) came in to discuss the bill, I mentioned braces being the goal & then the $15,000 bills started coming up. I was in there for a tooth that caused me pain, what I wanted later could have waited. But then the discounts came. "Oh we can knock this down a couple thousand" That bill kept getting knocked down with "special discounts" which was a RED FLAG. When we finally settled on just working on the tooth after 4 hours of running my name & all the "special discounts", they wanted me to come back the next day for the work. That day off was to handle the pain I was having. My workload wouldn't allow taking a 2nd day to come back after this day was wasted on negotiating. I was over this place & agreed. She then proceeded to charge $1,500 to my HSA for the next day's appointment. When I left, I was so unsatisfied that I decided I wasn't returning to this dentist again. I cancelled my appointment & was told that the money in my HSA would be returned in 30 days.. FOR WORK THAT WAS NEVER DONE. She then decided to hang up on me without ending the phone conversation. I believe her name was Liz? But don't want to give false information. It's the person dealing with the billing, I only dealt with her after my scans & examination. This office is beautiful with the big windows, you're looking at a neighbor's fence but it was the floor to ceiling windows for me. Too bad when I was waiting & waiting on them, they decided to move me into what looked like an old examination room with no windows, being used as a graveyard for old equipment in the corner of the office. I have mixed feelings about this place. First off, there is very little parking. Several spots are taken up by the employees. The girls in the office are loud and unprofessional in the way they carry on. The dentist, Dr. Chris is pretty good, as is the hygenist. I had multiple things done and it was all done at a reasonable price. My other dentist was way overpriced, so these folks seemed reasonable. After all my work is done I will go elsewhere. Terrible dentist office! Complete money grubbing dentist. You instantly know it's going to be a bad dentist when there is 5 front office staff, dentist rushes your check up, up sales you beyond believe for pointless things, and the cleaning guy rushes you along and stabs your gums with the scraper multiple times. I went in for a check up and cleaning. First time here. I take great care of my teeth. So when I had the dentist check my teeth, he said after only looking for 15 seconds that I had two cavities, which one needed a crown, and my old root canal needed an implant. I was shocked! I asked how is that all possible? The root canal was redone a year ago and he couldn't explain. Seemed like he wanted to rush me. He also went even further and try to say I grind my teeth, which has never been true bc I get mix results from dentists who say I do or don't grind. So he wanted me to buy his guard. Anywhos, I was in disbelieve and went to get a second opinion from my old dentist. He instantly said, no. You only have one cavity and no crown is needed. It was completely unnecessary. And that my root canal needed to be checked by a specialist...no ordinary dentist can say if you need an implant and that him saying that to me after a 15 second check was unethical. A specialist needs to evaluate it, especially as my doesn't quite look like it needs replacing..yet. So very excessive! Avoid this place! The only reason why I came to this dentist is because it's close to home. No one in particular recommended it to me. I took the risk and completely regret it. First of all I got my porcelain veneers that cost me here an arm and a leg... still paying those as I type this. They screwed me over with an extremely high interest rate. Whatever. Sandy told me I needed more work and since they had my file I went in for a follow up. According to them I had decay on a molar and I agreed to get it "fixed" I had insurance but on top of that they still charged me 4k. I had the procedures done and went back several times due to pain and super sensitive crown. Every time I went in the doctor was so busy to attend me and would send the female assistant with a dental scraper that she didn't even know how to use and several times the sharp edge would puncture my lip. I had enough with this dentist ripping me off, sandy try's to upsell every single customer that walks through that door beware of her. 3 months later I decide to visit another dentist due to pain and sensitivity on the crown they cemented. Apparently the crown they placed wasn't properly cemented and had gaps which caused sensitivity. Good job Whittier dentist now I need to get all the work re done. On Sept. 18, 2024 I went to The Whittier Dentist for a molar extraction due infection and excruciating pain. They immediately took X-Rays and impression. The dentist examined both me and my X-Rays and an employee named Sandy proceeded to give me an estimate of the many procedures that the dentist was recommending. I made it clear to her that I was only interested in the extraction of a molar that was hurting me greatly. I also informed her that I did not have money and that I was dependent on my Medi-Cal paying for this procedure and any and all procedures that I might need would have to be covered by Medi-Cal. She advised that I get credit approval for the other procedures that Medi-Cal would not pay. She runs my credit and says that I have been approved for $10,000 but with discounts that they would only charge me $7,000. I emphasized to her that I only wanted procedures that Medi-Cal covers. Sandy said that the financing was like a credit card. I felt in pain and under duress so I signed thinking that if this is like a credit card I would not use it and end of story. Needless to say they took out the credit payment for the $7,000. They get the funds that same day which was my initial consultation visit but don't clarify to me that they get the funds instantly. I come to find out on Monday 09/30/24 by a bill that Alphaeon Comenity Credit sent me that The Whittier Dentist got money on September 18th without performing any procedure on me. I called Alpahaeon Comenity and they advise that I send them a fax of cancellation which I did and immediatlely called The Whittier Dentist spoke to Sandy and requested that they refund the money back. I twice faxed her a request of the refund but she kept given the run around and stated that the partials were already made. On September 26, 2024 I had a molar extraction/one bone graft on lower bottom jaw follow up that procedure on Wedsnday 10/02/24, on Friday 10/04/24 and 10/11/24 had deep cleaning and on Wednesday 10/23/24 had fillings all covered by Medi-Cal except the bone graft. They have done no additional work on me. And this time Sandy is telling me that when the work is finish I will be getting some refund. Lie. Everytime I made these appointments Sandy tells me not to worry that they are covered by Medi-Cal and I am still asking her for the $7,000 refund and she says that first finish with all the recommended procedures and then they will prorate what was done and what was not done and refund difference. Too many excuses from The Whittier Dentist employees that I called the credit card company and filed a dispute in an attempt to reverse the charges. On Tuesday 12/03/24 received a letter by Alphaeon credit denying my dispute because The Whittier Dentist claimed that they were not issuing a refund because they have performed all services covered by the $7,000 payment. That is a complete lie. I have not received partials, never been fitted for partials, no root canal, no additional bone graft, etc. The Whittier Dentist took the money and will not return my calls. I called to ask to the manager. I was told her name was Corina. I left Corina 2 messages and she never bothered to call me back why would she they have no interest in talking to me. I have been asking them for a refund since 09/30/24. I called Medi-Cal explained the situation to them. Medi-Cal called the Whittier Dentist and advised that they can not charge patients for services possibly covered by Medi-Cal. That the Whittier Dentist has to go through the process of billing Medi-Cal first. They would need to get a denial for services before reaching out the patient with options of procedure and payment. The Whittier Dentist said that they will be billing Medi-Cal for the partials they have already received payment for from Alphaeon Comenity. I made Medi-Cal aware that they have not fitted me for partials nor given me partials and they would be double billing for the something they have not rendered. The Whittier Dentist claimed that they have done all the work and that sevices were rendered. This is a complete fabrication to keep the money. They also said that they were not refunding anything back to my credit. They are scamming me out of $7,000 and need to be stopped from scamming senior citizens and people who are vulnerable. Predatory tactic on seniors. This Dental Office getting payment in advance does not motivate them to render services but it does motivate them to lie to keep the money.
