    Snow day!
    Karsyn R.

Love this bar in the Third Ward for food and drinks anytime of the day. The kitchen is open late which is great after a long day of drinking. Food specials on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of tacos, chicken dinner, and WI fish fry respectively. They supply a variety of tappers for the beer lovers but supply seltzers and mixers for those that don't do beer! Karaoke on Mondays and other events throughout the week. George the bartender provided great service and mixes great drinks.

We came here on a Friday night around 10pm so still early in the night. We just came for drinks so we can speak to the food. The bartender was quick and really nice. They gave us the lore of how the owner loves Halloween and decks out the place every year so I'm sure it's a fun place to be on Halloween night. Theirs also a coffin in there and the bartender said how it's real and each of the staff members has gotten in it so that's a pretty interesting fact. I couldn't really pick up on the vibes of the bar but I felt comfortable and thought the prices were comparable to other places in the area.

Some of my most trusted Yelper colleagues have reported poor service here, but I noticed this happened usually at peak times and besides I needed a new fish fry place. I just wasted half an hour on Tik Toks about an English Fish and Chips place. I did like my fish fry which was more like fish and chips and the home made tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and cole slaw are quite good. The fish and fries are pretty good. Guinness on tap, is a big plus. Cool, not ice cold, as Guinness should be served. Service was good, but the bartender is the waitress, so it's best to come here away from peak times. It's a neighborhood bar with lots of smokers. Of course they can't smoke inside but they smoke right outside. You know there's a nicotine switch in your head, once it gets turned on it never turns off. I quit smoking back during our invasion of Iraq, even the whiff of cigarette smoke aggravates me. I don't like the use of disposable plastic, they use ceramic plates and metal flatware, a real glass for the Stout; however the sauces and water come in plastic. It's very loud, I think next time I come I'll bring hearing protection.

Patrick was great and really helpful! We didn't know what to order and asked Patrick to surprise us with drinks, and he gave us two options which were great!! Overall great bar and very chill vibes.

Good ole WI fish fry. The pieces were crispy, albeit a little greasy. The fries soaked up whatever came off the fish. The tartar sauce was tangy and creamy, and the bread was soft and chewy. I really wish there were a potato pancake option too. The curds were crispy and came with a ranch sauce. We took our order to go to the beer garden in the park right across the street.

Just as solid as ever - tried the chicken tenders this time. Pretty good but the Wings are definitely better imo. Good price and love the open walls in the summer

The food is always good, the prices are good, everything is good except the fact that they're ALWAYS understaffed! They literally have one server EVERY-TIME we come here. It's a somewhat popular place so why would they compromise service with one server for a busy bar? She's bussing the tables, serving food, bartending and taking orders. Probably washing dishes too! I feel sorry for her every time we go. She literally can't take a moment to breathe. One more server would make a huge difference.

Tried the fried chicken special on Thursday. It was great!! The chicken is perfectly crispy and juicy. It comes with a full half chicken per order, which is plenty. It also comes with mashed potatoes/gravy, cole slaw, and a buttery toasted roll! Everything was delicious! The service was great and has been way more consistent lately too. The vibe is still chill - will continue to keep this on my list of places to go!

Fun bartender, fast service. We enjoyed the setting as well as the cold beer and engaging environment. I could see the place getting crowded, but it was a perfect place for us to stop for a drink and talk with a chill environment.

Club Charlie's is my new favorite place for a French Dip sandwich! I didn't ever think anyone could topple The Brick in Glendale, but Charlie's blew theirs away. The bread was toasted perfection, the meat was succulent, and the au jus was plentiful. Really you couldn't do anything to improve this sandwich. And the kicker? Because of the Roro Virus, I got this to go. I'm shocked that one of the best sandwiches of my life was one I ate after walking 10 minutes back to the office! Everyone else in the office enjoyed their food as well, and both the ordering and pickup process were without issue. The only thing I could potentially suggest is the addition of an online ordering solution so I could multi-task during my oh so plentiful conference calls these days.

Service was excellent... really outstanding! Everything else was at the level of a typical bar. They have some good specials if your looking... a fire pit out front seats about 4 people and there are plenty of TVs to watch your favorite team. If you happen to be walking by, I'd say stop in.

First time going to Charlie's and will definitely be going back. Chicken pita was delicious, good beer list, awesome vibes. Staff are all a lot of fun.

    - delicious food, good service, cozy ambiance - no…read morereservation can be made for brunch - excited to come back for a sweet option Happy to get a seat at this tasty diner! With their rotating menu items and weekly specials, I am definitely coming back after having such a flavorful and fun meal. Waited about an hour on a busy Saturday since one of their locations was closed, but the food was well worth it! I had gotten Wolfie's Patty Melt and it was filling and a great start to our morning. The bread was nice and crisp from the buttered griddle and held everything together perfectly. Inside the crunchy sandwich were 2 seasoned patties and enough gooey cheese to make it rich, but not heavy. To contrast the fatty flavor, there was a slightly tart bacon jam and onions that were truly caramelized. Overall really tasty sandwich with no notes! In the description it says there is a sauce, but I could only taste the onions and jam, so I'm not too sure what it added. The side of fries was ok, but I think some crispy thinner ones would have been better with the sandwich. For my drink, I got a hot Ube Chai. The chai was strong and had a spicy kick to each sip. Already a subtle flavor, the ube was not very strong with the chai mixed in, but still added fun color. The design on top was also very cute and added another dink of sweetness. My girlfriend got the Spamelette for her main and it was pretty pretty and delish. Not too often that you see Spam, but when you see it, trust it earned its spot on a menu! The big chunks of Spam and accouterments gave each bite a pleasant feel and one full of flavor. I was skeptic of the mushrooms at first, but they were seasoned well and added another kind of texture to the meal. I think my favorite toppings were the drizzle of kewpie and the green onions... not sure if it counts as a topping, but the tamari glaze of the spam made it delish. Taste aside, it was also a pretty meal! Pook got a Hot Chocolate for her drink. Nice simple drink for the cold weather. We would have liked to see some more chocolatey flavor, but still a good milky drink for the meal. This drink also had a fun design and nice cream top, yum yum yum. This was such a tasty meal and they have lots of other options that I was debating on getting - I guess we gotta come back! It was a really cold day, but the cozy atmosphere and hot drinks with our food made it a great experience. We had originally planned on going to the Downtown location, but it was closed because of heating problems. I wish there was a bit more uniformity between their menus, especially since the Brewers Hill menu has different items and is smaller, so it feels like there is quite the difference between locations. Going off of that point, I am excited to try their dinner menu when it releases and see how it compares to when we ate Downtown! I am not sure how the places differ, but I felt the food here to be more flavorful than the other location. In addition to the dining area, they had a small shop and coffee area in the back while you waited for your table. It was fun and made time pass faster, but I feel as though that area is also perfect for dining. Maybe there are specific reasons why it isn't, but just a thought. Hope to come back soon!

Our server was fun to chat with and definitely made the experience a bit more interesting. I stopped in for brunch on a Wednesday around 11am and snagged the last open table. Ordered the Steak & Eggs and was impressed by the value; healthy portion, reasonable price. Perfectly cooked medium rare steak with chimichurri, crispy-runny eggs, and excellent potatoes holding it all together. The food is thoughtfully plated without trying too hard, and the prices feel fair for the quality. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been. Another lil Milwaukee gem!

We got the mimosa and Bloody Mary flights. They even flavor their own vodkas in house for the bloody's! Online it said both kinds of flights were included their special if the day, which was BOGO half off, but the staff told us the bloody flights were not included. We ordered a skillet, burrito, and harvest hash. Everything was great and came out quickly! What the restaurant is lacking is in overall aesthetic and cleanliness. It seems unfinished inside, has chipped paint, the canvas on the seats is ripping, and the floors were quite dirty where we were seated. We visited when there was only an hour left of them being open, and the staff made it seem like they were wanting to close up. If some of these items are addressed, this place has potential to be really great!

We really wanted to Brunch It Up...we love a good brunch place...so much. We left wishing we'd gone…read moresomewhere else. Brunch It Up (possibly in the middle of rebranding to just "Brunch.") is a classic breakfast spot in downtown Milwaukee...we were there on a Sunday morning...high brunch time, and were seated quickly upstairs. The place had an overall run-down vibe to it...scuffed paint on the walls and a general feeling of not quite matching the quality of the upscale brunch spot implied by their modern logo. Menus...I normally don't comment on the menu itself but our table featured no less than 4 different menus...the regular menu, a drink menu, a specials menu and a mimosas menu...choices are wonderful, but the immediate reaction is this is a whole mess of menus on the table, and I don't know what to look at first. It felt haphazard. Let's move on to the coffee...Coffee is an essential part of the brunch experience. Even at a diner, you want it to be strong...the mug it came in was nice, but it was weak coffee. I need coffee to kick my butt, and if you're serving what's close to "browned water" at a breakfast place, you're missing the mark. How about the food? I can't fault them for the generosity of the portions, but will say individual dishes were way too much for my wife and I...we wish smaller portions were available, so so much didn't go to waste. My wife had the Egg and Waffle sandwich with waffle fries. It was fine. I had the Harvest Hash made with egg whites...the eggs were a little overcooked. (Egg whites require a thoughtful touch when cooking them so they are finished white and not browning all over.) There are plenty of fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, and peppers in there (I guess that's the extent of the harvest in Milwaukee) The hashbrowns it all sat on were undercooked. We were excited about the croissant beignets...Available were the regular ones with chocolate or strawberry dipping sauce, and a special with a fruit dipping sauce. They couldn't mix and match sauces, so we got the special. They were okay but a bit over-fried, losing the croissant texture altogether ...I mean, there's nothing wrong with deep-fried dough with sweet things to dip them in, but we do wish they hadn't fried the croissant out of them to give us the unique experience implied by the name. The menu has plenty to choose from...every breakfast savory or sweet thing you could imagine...and on the nicely designed, modern-looking menu at looks like it could be amazing...but everything we got, plus the experience of sitting in a place that felt a little rundown, left us overall disappointed.

Their website has a popup on the home page saying it comes with fried haddock, potato pancakes, applesauce, and rye bread, but the popup doesn't list the price and it isn't available through the online ordering function. I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

We quite literally came here straight from the airport. To make matters worse, we had not eaten anything substantial all day and had actually looked this restaurant up weeks before our trip while researching places to eat the infamous Wisconsin fish fry, so we were really looking forward to the experience. The experience started off poorly when our party was essentially scolded by the hostess for sitting at a table that apparently needed to be cleaned for the wait list. To make matters worse, the busser laughed and joked that we were "in trouble," to which I could only respond, "Sounds like it." Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere you'd hope for as a first time visitor. The fish fry was decent our tab came out to $150 for 5 people, but the service was absolutely subpar and our tip reflected that. We also had to send back two drink glasses because they were dirty one still had lipstick on it, and another had food stuck to the inside of the glass.
