Great little Milwaukee pub in the historic third ward. We came here after Summerfest for a bite to eat nearby. We were able to snag a seat on the patio which was perfect because it was a beautiful night. I decided to get a burger which was good but nothing mind blowing! Solid burger with really good fries. I also ordered a few drinks that were delicious. Our server was sweet and did a great job considering how busy it was. We enjoyed some drinks and a good meal on the patio before heading back into the fest. No complaints! read more

Ordered a wrap and got a chicken burger instead, with no notice of any issue until after I had already paid. The bartender had me close out right after ordering because of a shift change, so it would've been nice to know they were out of items beforehand. On top of that, there was an older guy in a black tank top who appeared to work there and made several rude and creepy comments toward my group that left all of us really uncomfortable. Bartenders were okay, very transactional with those that they didn't know - who maybe were perceived as "tourists". We come to Copper Turtle every Saturday and today while out and about decided to come over to Club Charles for lunch. Drinks were okay for basic Haley Daley and Whiskey/Soda. Service was incredibly slow for being the only table at the time to be waiting for food and it was just a burger and fries which were both super salty. We came here on a Friday night around 10pm so still early in the night. We just came for drinks so we can speak to the food. The bartender was quick and really nice. They gave us the lore of how the owner loves Halloween and decks out the place every year so I'm sure it's a fun place to be on Halloween night. Theirs also a coffin in there and the bartender said how it's real and each of the staff members has gotten in it so that's a pretty interesting fact. I couldn't really pick up on the vibes of the bar but I felt comfortable and thought the prices were comparable to other places in the area. read more

Love this bar in the Third Ward for food and drinks anytime of the day. The kitchen is open late which is great after a long day of drinking. Food specials on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of tacos, chicken dinner, and WI fish fry respectively. They supply a variety of tappers for the beer lovers but supply seltzers and mixers for those that don't do beer! Karaoke on Mondays and other events throughout the week. Some of my most trusted Yelper colleagues have reported poor service here, but I noticed this happened usually at peak times and besides I needed a new fish fry place. I just wasted half an hour on Tik Toks about an English Fish and Chips place. I did like my fish fry which was more like fish and chips and the home made tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and cole slaw are quite good. The fish and fries are pretty good. Guinness on tap, is a big plus. Cool, not ice cold, as Guinness should be served. Service was good, but the bartender is the waitress, so it's best to come here away from peak times. It's a neighborhood bar with lots of smokers. Of course they can't smoke inside but they smoke right outside. You know there's a nicotine switch in your head, once it gets turned on it never turns off. I quit smoking back during our invasion of Iraq, even the whiff of cigarette smoke aggravates me. I don't like the use of disposable plastic, they use ceramic plates and metal flatware, a real glass for the Stout; however the sauces and water come in plastic. It's very loud, I think next time I come I'll bring hearing protection. read more

Good ole WI fish fry. The pieces were crispy, albeit a little greasy. The fries soaked up whatever came off the fish. The tartar sauce was tangy and creamy, and the bread was soft and chewy. Tried the fried chicken special on Thursday. It was great!! The chicken is perfectly crispy and juicy. It comes with a full half chicken per order, which is plenty. Club Charlie's is my new favorite place for a French Dip sandwich! I didn't ever think anyone could topple The Brick in Glendale, but Charlie's blew theirs away. The bread was toasted perfection, the meat was succulent, and the au jus was plentiful. Really you couldn't do anything to improve this sandwich. And the kicker? Because of the Roro Virus, I got this to go. I'm shocked that one of the best sandwiches of my life was one I ate after walking 10 minutes back to the office! Everyone else in the office enjoyed their food as well, and both the ordering and pickup process were without issue. The only thing I could potentially suggest is the addition of an online ordering solution so I could multi-task during my oh so plentiful conference calls these days. read more

Great pub with good food. The bartender Kate is awesome ! My favorite is the jerk chicken wrap.

I am torn because I do enjoy how cozy and warm the atmosphere is. It seems to be a local favorite and I understand why. My review is based on the cocktail quality which has consistently disappointed me. I do get that it is not a mixology bar but even simple classic cocktails were difficult to drink. Service is very friendly though and food might be good as well, so will be coming back. read more

"Liz" is extremely proficient in making sure EVERY customer is attended to and many feel like they are the only focus of the service. Several locals here, who she knows. The first word that comes to mind when I think of this establishment: "rude". We walked into the establishment and were told we could not sit inside. There was zero signage regarding outside seating only. Then, we asked for a table in the shade, outside. There was a patron waiting to checkout who said we could have his table once his group left. Perfect. The table they were at was ideal for our size group and in the shade; we just had to wait until it was cleared off. Great. Or, not so great, because the staff did not want us to sit there. They wanted to sit us at the table immediately available even though we said we had no problem waiting for the table in the shade. The attitude we encountered was just bad business. Not a good look. And, I will also add, the rudeness was not only directed at our group. Everyone waiting in line for drinks or trying to checkout were grumbled at or told they could not do something. Such a shame that this place - with a fantastic location in the 3rd ward right along the Catalano Square - expects patrons to put up with rudeness and unspoken rules that are expected to be followed. read more

This was my first visit. I came in alone for a glass of wine, not that this is a wine bar mind you. My daughter dances for the Milwaukee ballet and each week I like to check out a new place. The bartender was great, best I've seen in awhile. Very attentive and I believe I overheard her name was Liz. There is a good selection of beer here and some great happy hour specials too. Again. I've been to Club Charlie's several times with my family before and it has never been as poor of an experience as it was this past weekend. My boyfriend's college friend was visiting for the night with his girlfriend and the first person we saw at the door was the woman that would end up serving us. She immediately had a poor attitude when I asked her if we could sit anywhere we'd like. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was just a rough night for her. We sat down and waited for a few minutes. When the waitress finally came to our table she started taking our order and that's when things went south. We asked if we could split the bill in half and she acted as if that was the most absurd request in the world. She was extremely rude, unpleasant, and was mumbling under her breath about how "that's now how things work". When we tried explaining to her what we wanted she just kept snapping back at us with the nastiest attitude. After what seemed like forever she finally figured out how to write down our order and abruptly walked away. We waited for a solid hour and a half for our food and it never came - mind you our waitress never once came back to our table. When we asked the other staff members about our food they seemed to have no idea what we were talking about. Turns out that the kitchen didn't even start on our order. We told them to just forget about it and got out of there right away. Everything else about Club Charlie's was fine, but I have never experienced any sort of behavior like this woman's. She definitely did not fit the friendly Milwaukee atmosphere and pretty much ruined any sort of positive thought I previously had about Club Charlie's. read more

Went on a busy Friday night. The waitstaff seemed to be shorthanded , and were irritable from the start. We ordered drinks and dinner, and after waiting for 40 minutes, and seeing neighboring tables who had come in after us being served, enquired about our order. 45 minutes after placing said order, the waitress finally checks and announces that we did not get it because they ran out of their fish fry. So we place an alternate order and wait another 15 minutes. At this point, the waitress comes back and tells the kitchen is shutting down and now the cooks will not make our food. We were sent away with nothing but the promise that the manager (Craig) would call us, which he never did. I've been to club Charlie's a couple of times: once for just drinks after Skylight and this second time for Downtown Dining Week. The only free day I had available to participate in downtown dining, I choose Club Charlie's because of their lunch menu offering. They had a straight boozey liquid menu as well as food options that sounded quite good. SOLD! I like s good food & drink pairing :) The pricing for each was $12.50 so to order one of each for a mere 25 bucks sounded like a great deal to me. To start was a Bloody Mary and Mac and cheese bites. The bloody was pretty decent! I'd order one again here. The Mac and cheese bites were ok. Not terrible, not great. I wished the greasy breading vs. how dense the Mac and cheese was more in fact of the latter. Next course was a trio of mini martinis (super fun) and I choose the chicken gyro. The martini trio was a gin, cucumber and cosmo. They were smaller but still had a good amount of booze! Food was a chicken gyro. It wasn't errorless but also wasn't very Greek or gyro-like. The chicken was just cut up breast and sauce wasn't really tzatziki. The drinks were going so well, but the last one was the worst: Naughty Girl Scout which the taste is as bad as the perverted title. It was so sweet and artificial that I could not choke it down. The dessert options were brownie or chocolate chip cookie. Pretty basic options. Overall it was a fun time, a nice day and we sat on the patio. Club Charlie's is a great neighborhood spot on the "quiet" side of Broadway. The staff and owners are always friendly and service is quick. The menu is interesting. Portions are huge but the lunch $6 lunch deal is not bad, especially if you make use of the lunch cards where you get a free meal after 6 punches. Club Charlie's is a great summer spot during Covid! I went on a Thursday night for dinner and sat outside, where they have tents and tables set up in the street. All ordering was done at the hostess stand so that the waiters aren't walking around, which I appreciated. This spot is very dog friendly, so be sure to bring your pet! They gave my dog lots of water and treats. The food itself is delish; I got the 5 cheese grilled cheese and it was outstanding. They have a great beer list as well. The food and atmosphere at Club Charlie's was really good. The service was TERRIBLE! When we walked in we were told we could sit wherever we were comfortable. We sat at a nice booth and the bartender yelled over NOT THERE!! Once we were seated a waitress came and took our order and brought our drinks over. That was the very last time we saw her. The cook brought out our food and when we wanted another drink we had to personally go up to the bar. Once we did that we saw our waitress chatting with customers at the bar. She looked over at me and said "I'm working the bar now". When we were ready to leave we had to go up to the bar to get and pay for our tab. Honesty we should have left without paying.
