    Fish Fry and O-Rings
    Geno P.

This is not a typical restaurant. This is a bar, with food. You need to remember that when approaching this place. This is a bar, Geno, not a restaurant. Anyway, me and the wife went here for a fish fry. When we entered, we were greeted with an energized Friday night atmosphere, of the weeks end, with customers enjoying loud mumble rap and plenty of libations of all sorts. We sat down at the table and were waiting for the waitress. They are very busy, and mind you, the fish frys are flying out the door. We ordered our fish fry with one fry and one O-rings. It came out hot and fresh and fried to perfection. The onion rings were beer battered and the fries were hot and crisp. I did not like the coleslaw (mustard twang) and the marble rye came out toasted. The rating is for the food only. The atmosphere is a little too loud for my tastes if i am going to eat. If you don't mind that, then it will be a great place to eat for you. For those who don't want mumble rap with your fish fry, you can always take it home and enjoy it!

Horrible food and service. The bartender dude was extremely rude and accused us of lying about not receiving food that they forgot to pack for us. We ordered over $90 of food and it was all bad. The Mac and cheese with brisket had a tiny bit of brisket and it was mostly fat. The beignets are only fried biscuits. The mozzarella sticks are egg rolls that are soggy. The burger I got was RED AND PINK. Totally inedible. This place was disgusting. Horrible service and horrible food. Biggest waste of money and time. We're from Chicago too, so we were giving this place a chance. Crazy that they were so incredibly rude and unkind. Coming from the city we get it, but for you to be out here acting like a prick in some rinky dink bar, get a life.

The crooked crow has delicious food. I have actually never eaten at the bar itself, but I have ordered DoorDash from them multiple times. If you're looking for delicious bar food that doesn't take long to make and pick up the crooked crow is a spot. They have great dipping sauces, reasonable prices, large portions, And delicious food. I love their mozzarella sticks.

I've been looking forward to visiting The Crooked Crow for a few weeks and trying their fish fry, beer battered cheese curds, and jerk rub wings. Disappointingly, they were out of curds and wings, even though they had just opened 10 minutes before I got there on a Friday night. I instead got mozzarella sticks and the fish fry with Kansas City fries (a BBQ dry rub on the fries) for my side. The mozzarella sticks were ok. Pretty hard to screw those up. I didn't love the marinara being cold as it was an odd contrast to the wam mozzarella sticks, but whatever. The batter on the fish was crispy, which I appreciated. The cod itself, though, had a slight rubbery texture to it. That didn't make it inedible, but I've had better cod elsewhere. I don't know if the Kansas City rub sprinkled on the fries was necessary, but I'm a sucker for KC BBQ. I'm sure the seasoned fries would have been fine without the rub. The bar had about dozen people at it pretty much the entire time I was here and it took a while to get the attention of one of the two bartenders so I could place an order. They did come over while I was eating to check how everything was, so they were attentive at that point, but not initially. Although people were outside smoking cigarettes in the front, the door was open so I noticed a smoke smell the entire time I was here even though no one inside was smoking. Not something I was fond of. The parking lot on the side of the building is crazy small. If you're not here right when they open, don't even bother with the lot and just find nearby street parking.

    Caesar salad (delish!)

I've driven past The Crooked Crow many times and have always been intrigued. Recently, I was looking for a spot for lunch, when I saw the stellar reviews for this spot and decided it was time to put my curiosity to rest and give them a try! Inside, it's a basic (slightly dive-y even) bar. I wasn't sure what to expect from the menu but was excited to see a couple salad options. I ordered the caesar salad and a side of the their beer battered cheese curds (the rule is--if they have cheese curds and if those curds are beer battered--we order them). My dining companion ordered one of their burgers with a side of fries. We both ordered a bourbon old fashioned. The cheese curds were solid and came with a slightly tangy ranch dressing as well as a spicy sauce. My dining companion opted for the spicy sauce while I enjoyed the ranch. The caesar salad was splendid--well dressed with rye croutons, and really everything a caesar salad ought to be (sans the anchovies, but can't win 'em all!). The service was prompt and friendly and the prices were quite reasonable. Get to it!

I recently dined here with some friends because I have been wanting to try out the food. I liked everything we ordered! It's definitely a dive-bar atmosphere so this should be kept in mind when judging the kind of experience you want. We were in for lunch so it wasn't too crowded or loud. We started with the cheese curd appetizer. The strawberry habanero jam it comes with... YUM! It's really got a kick but it's unique and definitely worth the try. My husband and I split the Big Mac burger and phoenix boneless wings with tater tots and fries. We ordered a side (then got another) of the nacho cheese sauce for dipping. That cheese sauce is dangerous! Perfect for fries and tater tots. The phoenix is the hottest of the wings, but I handled them pretty well. I had more of a struggle with the habanero jam honestly. Burger was fresh, wings were big and juicy. The menu is filled with casual but tasty bar food. It's a great spot to grab some drinks and food!

Came here last night, craving a char-boiled burger so we decided to try this neighborhood bar. The only downfall is the parking. there is a small lot in the back for about 6-7 cars. The rest is street parking a block over. There is no parking on 60th due to the bus stops. We were seated right away., with the bartender (Andrea) explaining the happy hour specials ($1.00 off tappers and rails. I had 2 miller lights, $1.00 off burgers. I opted for the plain Jane Burger, cooked MR with lettuce, tomato, raw onion, .50 for cheese, and choice of side. I picked the tots and they were fabulous. Hubby had the Big Daddy Mack, which is just the basic burger with 1000 Island Dressing, with fries. He said it was very good. The place gives off a divey atmosphere but the service and food are to die for. The prices are good too. We had 2 beers, a sprite, and two burgers with sides for $26.00 We tipped $7 and some change to even it out. My advice is don't overlook your local neighborhood bars, cause you never know what you will miss

So we pass this place all the time driving down 60th, but we finally decided to stop and check it out. We were glad we did! This place fits in nicely amongst the Stallis bar scene, and that IS a compliment. What stands out is the great beer options as well as the variety of food on their menu. We had the boneless wings (Wednesday special) and they were delish. We chose 2 flavors: Buffalo and Lemon Pepper. They were juicy and tender. The breading was a bit much for my liking but still were solid. The side of fried cheese curds for a nominal up charge was worth it. We also ordered the Southern Twang Chicken Sandwich - Fried breaded chicken with lettuce, tomato, and homemade honey bourbon BBQ sauce. It sounded interesting and it was. The owner happened to be present and taking pictures of other dishes. We asked what he was doing and he informed us they have rotating monthly food specials and he was nice enough to let us try the Buffalo Mac n Cheese and Philly Wantons specials for the month of May. They were a hit! I picked up a fly hoodie that I will also now rep around town. This place deserves the hype.

We decided to check this place out on a slow Sunday around noon and I'd say it's mostly a neighborhood, corner bar. It was fairly empty when we arrived aside from the bar seating. The first thing I noticed was a really strong smell of some cleaning product that was not pleasant at all but after we adjusted the rest of the experience was good. There's plenty of table seating towards the back and a large space cleared for the pool table. The bartender was efficient and took care of us if not a little standoffish. We had the mozzarella sticks which are wonton wrapped and pretty large, great for sharing. The food comes out as it's done which I always appreciate because you know it's not sitting in the back waiting. The food was good as far as bar food goes but nothing special.

The Large Mack burger with fries ($11)

I am thoroughly impressed by this neighborhood bar. From the remodeled digs to the stepped up bar food being slung out of the kitchen, The Crooked Crow is going to be a regular spot for me. I've stopped in twice for lunch with a friend, and ordered new things every time. The menu consists of scaled up appetizers like Monterey Bacon Jalapeño Sticks ($8), one pound baskets of "dunkers" like sour cream and chives fries ($6), chicken sandwiches and wings served with a half pound of fries or tots like the Pesto Chicken Parm ($11), burgers served with a half pound of fries or tots like the beef/bratwurst/bacon Murder Burger ($13), 14-inch signature pizzas like the From Naples, With Garlic ($15), and an always available 3-piece fish fry ($13) and fish sandwich ($9) served with a half pound of fries or tots. So far we've ordered the Midnight Rambler burger ($12) which is served on a pretzel bun and topped with cheddar, thick cut bacon, crunchy potato chips, peanut butter and sriracha mayo; The Large Mack ($11) served on a brioche bun topped with leafy lettuce, onion, and homemade thousand island; Southern Twang Sandwich ($11) which has a buttermilk fried chicken served on a pretzel bun topped with leaf lettuce, tomato and homemade honey bourbon BBQ sauce; The Smokstack ($12) which has sliced brisket and pulled pork served on a brioche bun top with homemade honey bourbon BBQ sauce, homemade coleslaw and fried onion strings; crispy tater tots; and lightly breaded and seasoned fries. Everything we've eaten has been great. All those items and not a single complaint from either of us. Seriously! Okay... a minor gripe. The buns could be a bit larger as everything from the burger to the toppings dangle off the sides. Otherwise, the food offerings are beyond perfection for a bar. I'll point out that the staff has been friendly and attentive and that the bar has a nice billiards table with no charge to play.

I stopped here because it looked new and I don't remember ever seeing it on yelp before and since they have so few pictures I think a Steve stop by was needed. The place has no street parking in front but they have a small lot and side street parking. The place is nice for a bar with a kitchen with has a nice bar, hi tables, game machines, cool free pool table with leather pockets and some cozy seating around the pool table. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary while I looked at the menu which was spicy and better than average that had bits in it, it's clearly a house blend. The menu is typical bar food with pizzas, burgers, wings, appetizers etc etc. I honestly didn't like any of the menu burgers so I built my own with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, raw onions and mayo cooked rare. My cheeseburger looked good with tator tots but I didn't understand the big flat burger with the under sized bun because it didn't cover the burger and the patty was all outside small bun. The bun was nicely toasted with leaf lettuce, thick cut tomato's and diced onions which doesn't work on a burger because they just fall off. The cheeseburger was tasty and cooked perfect rare with the cold toppings. The tots were golden crispy and seasoned perfectly Overall it's a nice place to hang out and have some food and drinks and play some free pool.

    Friday fish fry
    Cam S.

For my money this is the best fish fry in the Milwaukee suburbs and one of the best I've had in my tours of Wisconsin. The fish is flaky and crispy, good portion size for the money and the coleslaw is awesome. Our server was really hospitable and helpful. The only real issue here is that it's small inside with limited seating. I don't think they used their space very well in that regard. We actually (luckily) were able to snag a table on our first pass but there were only a few - the rest of the seating was full around the crowded bar.

Awesome hoodie and awesome husband! (not for sale)

I haven't been here in years and forgot how great this place is for bar food. This is one of my favorite fish fries in the city because it's hand breaded with a flavorful coating with flaky hot fish. The coleslaw is perfect because it's very fine with a celery seed. The rye bread is fresh and not dried out. My best advice is to get the breaded mushrooms. They are some of the best I've ever eaten because again they are hand breaded. On Fridays you must get free fresh cake again homemade not bought. We tried three of the desserts and they didn't disappoint. Drinks are a strong pour and if you're lucky the owners wife will serve you because she's awesome. I love all the air plants they have and the dark interior really does make it more of a "classy dive" as their name suggests. We came here for a Sunday lunch and to catch the Brewers game. When I go to dive bars, I don't have the highest expectations for the food because usually the food is mediocre. However, at this bar, it really blew me away. I had the ODB smashburger with regular fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful with such a fluffy, soft bun. I love that they put crispy onion straws in it for a little crunch. The nachos were fantastic--loved the pickled onions. They were a unique and tasty addition. After the large appetizers, we realized we didn't have room for full entrees. Everyone ordered some wings. I really wanted to try the hot sauce but was scared to commit. Our server was super friendly and brought me some out to test with bread. Loved the flavor, but it was indeed too hot for me.
