I just moved to Madison from California. I came to Yelp in hopes of finding a consistently high-rated salon or stylist. Wicked Salon, and more specifically Matthew at Wicked, stood out immediately. I showed up for my appointment on the wrong day. Matthew was on a break, between appointments, and invited me in to sit down, make introductions, and talk about what I wanted to do with my hair. That struck me as a very generous - that Matthew would use his personal time to make my acquaintance and express real interest in what I wanted to come into the salon for. Fast forward to my actual appointment: I love my haircut. I have thick, wavy hair. It needs to be cut by someone who isn't afraid to texturize and work with the volume and shapes that wavy hair create. Matthew owned the cut, and he styled it beautifully. Additionally, Matthew has such a charismatic manner about him - conversational while maintaining focus on your hair. Matt is the most skilled hair stylist I've ever known. He really takes the time to consult with you about your hair, what you want and your concerns. I watched him cut my hair like a scene out of a movie. It was one of the best cuts, if not the best, I've had in my life. I felt like an Herbal Essences commercial walking out of Wicked Beauty. I also got my hair colored and it is simple gorgeous. We talked at length about what I envisioned before he colored it and it turned out even better than I imagined. Not sure why all of Wicked Beauty's reviews are not accessible, but this is truly a five star place. I searched and searched for this experience. I finally have a place where someone actually listens to what I want and consults with me on what would look best for my face. I always feel comfortable and love the results. I do not have one complaint over my couple of years of going here. I have tried short hair, long hair and many, many colors. Every option seems to compliment my face and not to mention, people at work always are jealous. The only reason I have not done a review before is that I am worried that they will get too busy to fit me in. I can also speak for my fiance, who thought he would have to fly his last hair stylist out to do the perfect cut. Matt is amazing with his curly hair and big forehead. My first visit here left an excellent first impression. My appointment was started on time. Matt spent a very generous amount of time understanding my hair, my appearance, and the look I was trying to go for. I have been to Matt one time so far, so this rating could improve with more experiences! My hair was a mess and even though we had to cut more off than I wanted, he got the shape PERFECT! Which means that this time, I can just get it trimmed and it is going to be amazing. I have had several experiences since I moved to Madison where I have explained what I wanted, got an "ah-ha, ok, chop chop" that turned out terrible! Matt took about 20 minutes to ask questions and really listened to what I was looking for!
