Went here for dine out($30) and I wouldn't come back. While the steak had an excellent flavour (not as tender though), and I have not gotten over how good dried fennel is on mashed potatoes, there were many items that were lacking. There's a dance floor, which contrasted with the "fine-dining feel". The tables are intermingled among booths and it contributes to an already awkward set up. It honestly feels like a restaurant that failed at becoming a casino. Ultimately, it was the Five servers who ignored me when I was trying to pay for the dinner meal discreetly, that would ensure I never returned to this restaurant. I eventually had to approach one of the servers while my family saw me grabbing the bill. The funny thing is, this server was hired as a consultant to make the restaurant better. My advice is to ask for a booth seat, away from the dance floor and hope that your server can find you. read more

Great food and great music. I think it's their band's name is The Coco Project. The female lead singer has a really good and powerful voice. I feel like the band should stay there, they really make music come to life and make guests get out of their seats. I know it did with me. They really complement the tasty food. Went here for Thanksgiving dinner.They had a set menu of 3 choices for dinner or you could order off the menu.Most of us went with the turkey dinner for $26,included,soup or salad,turkey dinner with all the trimmings,and dessert.The portions were large & the food was delicious.Our server was very polite and courteous.Those that didn't have the turkey dinner were very happy with their meals as well over all a very enjoyable dining experience.t read more

Made a reservation for 9:30am Sunday for breakfast on Open Table. Received email confirmation and showed up on time, only to see a stanchion blocking access from the lobby into the restaurant. Asked a staff member there for assistance, who reluctantly said "we are closed and won't open for brunch until 10:30am." I told her I had a reservation for 9:30am and she just shrugged and walked away. What I don't understand is if the restaurant is closed from 10am to 10:30am and they would physically block people from entering the restaurant at 9:30am, why was I able to make the reservation for 9:30am in the first place? read more

I just finished eating lunch with a party of 11 and it was not an experience I'll ever repeat. The food was wonderful but with a waiter who seemed to be trying to set speed records in babbling things out and taking orders, numerous wrong dishes or missed specifications, and then having our waitress come over to push us to settle up as "someone's shift ended and they're on overtime to collect this bill" it was not a pleasant process. To top things off when my wife pleasantly mentioned the problems (after paying so it was clear we weren't looking for discounts) the person she spoke to literally just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. We arrived at 5:30pm for dinner. The restaurant was located in the Executive Hotel. I used Groupon so I could order two Appies, four Entrées and two desserts. Calamari was tender and tasted okay but I did not like the Salad. I couldn't order Iceberg salad as my wife doesn't like blue cheese. But after the appies, it took one hour until entrées were served. The manager explained the birthday party in the restaurant caused delay on other tables then gave us 15% Off coupons with apologies. We ordered pork tenderloin, beef strip, seafood Linguine and steak. I liked steak and Pasta. We could not finish our desserts as we were in rush. When we left the restaurant, it was already 7:30pm. My colleague and I booked dinner here, as they have a live music every Friday and Saturday night and it seemed better than the chain restaurant. I received an email from the restaurant manager stating there will be no live music tonight. Boo. The restaurant was pretty empty and there was 1 server between 4-5 tables of 2. So the service was just a little slow. We order nachos to share and cocktails and then our main. We had both decided we were going to stay for coffee and dessert however, at 8:30 after we had eaten the main course the server just asked how the bill should be split. My colleague and I both look at each other and thought, strange she didn't ask us about the dessert menu? Our water glasses did not get refilled and we felt we were being gently rushed out. I asked our server when they close and she responded by saying 10pm, but because it was slow they would close at 9 tonight. Needless to say, we know why we got the gentle boot at 8:45! Food is subpar and pricey, but the ambiance is lovely. Don't think I'll be visiting this establishment anytime soon. read more

Our family had brunch here yesterday. It was packed as is understandable 10 days before Christmas. The service was mediocre at best - we had to ask for coffee twice and they originally brought one tiny creamer for 8 people! They had run out of many options and we had to ask for a new fruit tray. Overall the food was adequate - some of the breakfast foods were lukewarm however the omelettes were delicious as were the eggs Benedict. The lunch options were very drab and it would be nice if the restaurant would use placards to identify the dishes. Hello.. I can't seem to see your wine menu on line. I was at this restaurant this evening and it was fantastic. The food was amazing and perfectly cooked, and delicious . However, we were rather shocked at the price of the "house wine". Happy hour wine was $4 but we were advised that this wine was not available after 5.30 pm. That seemed odd as we expected the same wine to be available at about a 50% increase in price. (as is the industry standard). We were told that bottles were $25 and the website states that select wines were 50% off, so we didn't expect that the "house wine" would be super expensive. However, we were charged $!! and $12 for a glass of house wine. Wow!! This might seem petty but we felt the sting of "bate and switch". Other than that, we had a wonderful evening with great service and fantastic cuisine. read more

Staying at the Hotel I decided to try the food. I ordered the double decker chicken club. The portion was excellent, but the food was bland and greasy. The chicken on the sandwich was about as thick as a loonie breaded and greasy, I could not taste the sauce that was on it due to the grease. The chips it was served with were also greasy and tasted like it got fried in a vat with spring rolls as that's the after taste I got. The place is clean and the wait staff are good. read more

Delicious and good service! Yummy prawn gyozas and chicken and bacon linguine was yummy! The garlic toast that comes with it has cheese grilled on top and is sooo good. Others has seafood linguine, and salmon entree. All was enjoyed with leftovers for lunch the next day. read more

I went to the Wild Fig as part of two couples. It was a Wednesday night, but we opted to try the Prime Rib a different visit. Our server, Melanie, was AMAZING! She had recommendations and was attentive and nice. I tried The Wild Fig Cordon Bleu and I really enjoyed it. WARNING: Don't think of it as Cordon Bleu at all. It is more unlike Cordon Bleu than it was like Cordon Bleu. The chicken was dry, but Melanie had warned me as such and I was okay with that. NO regrets! For dessert, we had the chocolate eruption and it was good enough. Not the best dessert, but definitely enjoyable. The atmosphere was calm and soothing. Give The Wild Fig a try!! read more

Went there for my birthday. We got a complimentary taster for dessert which tasted great. The calamari was good but spicy. The lamb shanks were amazing (but small) and the Brussel sprouts that came with the lamb tasted like an unknown amazingly delicious vegetable. The siracha chicken was okay. But the curry chicken was weird. The chicken had the oddest texture... kind of like it had been frozen for far too long. Had almost the same texture as overcooked fish maybe? Stay away!!! I went there with a party of 10 for my parents 50th anniversary. On first impression, the look of the restaurant was nice. The same can't be said for the food. Calimari was okay, chicken cordon bleu was deep fried and super dry with terrible tasting veggies. Ribs were bland with a less than appealing bbq sauce. Kids enjoyed chicken fingers. Overall everyone except the kids were significantly underwhelmed by their food. Then there was the service. There were 3 waiting staff, a bartender, manager and the band. A lot of staff for only 4 tables of customers at 7pm on a Friday night. So the service was great? Quite the opposite. The manager stood around chatting with staff, then drinking at the bar. Food came out at all different times. Then after waiting 30 mins to have the have dishes cleared we had to ask for them to clear them. Then there was the band, not my cup of tea. The Sunday brunch is so good here. My first time was a few years ago with my parents and step siblings, my mom abd step dad got married at the executive plaza and as a gift we got voucher for free brunch for our family, I loved it then and suggested we go recently for my friends birthday. Amazing food, when they say brunch they truly mean brunch. You have all the breakfast staples you could ask for... Pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage. There's a small cereal section with dried fruits and nuts which sadly I didn't spend much time on because there was so much more to choose from. There was at least 3 kinds of salad, cold cut meats including prosciutto. Cold seafood platter with prawns (my absolute favorite), mussels, smoked lox salmon, candied salmon you name it. There's a waffle station where you can have them fresh with berries and whip cream and also an omelette station where you can make whatever you want (there's a person that does it so you don't have to worry about it). Now to the 'unch' part of brunch.. There is all different kinds of entrees, curry salmon, braised lamb, roast potatoes, cheese tortellini even a carving roast beef station. To top it off they had wonderul desserts and bottomless drinks. I can't express how stuffed we were and considering the price and what's offered its a pretty good deal, maybe not a place you could go every Sunday but worth while for a birthday or special occasion. The service was good, they checked on us a lot and cleared plates as we kept going for more helpings. There is an automatic 15% gratuity for parties more than 6 I believe but it was well deserved. There's plenty of room for a large party and enough small tables for just an intimate breakfast for 2. Its served early morning and last call or when they start cleaning up is around 2:00pm we got there a little late around 1 but it was plenty of time to get all the food in and it was less busy. The food was still hot and still being replenished so its not just the leftovers at the end of the service. Oh also there is free parking in the hotel underground, just give the front desk your license plate number! I'll need to find another special occasion excuse to go! read more

Ironically, Isobel M. who also posted a review (5/13/2017) sat at the table next to ours (I recognize her photo), but unfortunately our dining experience was the complete opposite. Inconsistent food: Caesar salad was delivered without an offer of fresh ground pepper (salt & pepper shakers were not on our table); 2 very undercooked steaks; 1 overcooked halibut; 1 wrong dish delivered. It took 25-30 minutes to receive the correct (chicken) dish ordered and everyone at the table was finished their plates when it arrived. Inattentive and inefficient server: We constantly had to ask other servers for items throughout the meal, i.e. to order a second bottle of wine, clear our plates, refill our waters, order coffee, request the dessert menu, etc. It turned out that celebrating a special occasion here was not special at all, in fact it was thoroughly disappointing and unsatisfactory from start to finish. The best meetings involve incredible people and incredible food. Today I had the pleasure of experiencing both for the first time at the Executive Hotel in Coquitlam in their lovely lounge style restaurant called The Wild Fig. The server was friendly and very attentive keeping my coffee fresh, and kindly and knowledgeably offered recommendations. I ordered a delicious chicken curry that tempted every taste bud in my mouth and made me wish it was a bottomless bowl. The presentation was lovely for the main course and was only topped by the delivery of the dessert. The molten chocolate dessert was a perfect finisher that should not be shared. It was delightfully embellished with a dollop of cream and fresh berries, mint leaf, and a cookie stick that complemented the rich chocolate very nicely. read more

Having owned a successful restaurant for over ten years, this review is meant to shed light on the importance of service which was greatly lacking at The Wild Fig today. The food here was quite lovely, so the potential this place has simply awaits a service awakening. Our server was disorganized - she came to our table of 11 without a pen to take orders, didn't know the soup of the day and didn't offer to find out, and also didn't listen while orders were being placed, so made many errors causing food waste for the kitchen. In an effort to control the damage the manager began helping her but what ensued was communicational chaos, quite frankly. Plates were taken away from those who had started eating without asking, plates moved from one person to another as they realized errors in placement had occurred, etc. It was almost comical. The bills were all messed up, and they hurried us into paying because our server was on over time waiting to collect our payment. This is in poor taste and something that is supposed to be handled 'back of the house' between two servers, not cause inconvenience to diners. I see potential, but first please go back to square one and train your servers from scratch. But give my kind regards to the kitchen, as they did a bang up job. Thank you. read more

We went down to the restaurant and the host was extremely rude and snubbed us, telling us that there wasn't any seats available when I could clearly see a booth available. This place was mediocre at best. The food itself was ok. But their service was SLOW. We had reservations for 6:30 and didn't get out until about 9:15. We had a larger party and there were only 2 servers. They were helpful when we asked them for things but didn't check up on us often or ask how our food was. I was here for dinner and it was great. Definitely go and enjoy a nice meal. Do NOT go for brunch. We went for a birthday brunch with 23 of us. There's a brunch menu online which looks great. We arrived and had coffee and were sprung with the buffet. Apparently it's the only thing available and it's $35! I am not paying $35 for breakfast. This was also not disclosed when the reservation was made. It was even stated that we're coming in for brunch. We started to leave to hit the Foggy Dew pub next door who has a decent benny. The manager said we could pay $15 for the brunch only side of the buffet. As long as we didn't touch the seafood or burgers. It saved us the trouble of leaving and waiting for more service so we agreed and stayed. The brunch buffet was dry. All of it. Benny's were crusty amd the hollandaise was mostly solid. The hasbrowns were stuck together and dry. I highly recommend that you go elsewhere for a brunch outing. One of the servers was openly complaining about us as I was walking by. Really didn't feel welcome here. Go for dinner for sure. It was really good, but I will not be returning to this place. read more
