I had just three months to plan my wedding and with a very small budget too. I am so happy that I was able to find Jane/The Wild Orchid to do the floral arrangements. Amazing experience from start to finish! I had several phone interviews with various florists before deciding on going with Jane, the Wild Orchid. I felt like she really listened to our vision, while keeping in mind our budget! Jane made wonderful suggestions for adding greenery and garden roses to fill in centerpieces while highlighting peonies, dahlias and other rose varieties for my (bride) bouquet, bridesmaids bouquet, mother's corsages and groomsman's boutonnières, etc. Due to the fires happening in Napa at the time of our wedding, we didn't know if we would be having it as scheduled. When I think back to our wedding, the main and first thing that comes to mind are the incredible flower arrangements that Jane put together! I was feeling very nervous while everything was getting setup the day of our wedding, but once Jane came and brought me my bouquet...I just knew everything was going to be perfect! Jane was referred to us through our wedding coordinator, and from the start I knew she was exactly who I needed. I had a rough idea of what I wanted (colors, bouquet sizes, etc.) but was very upfront with Jane that I wanted her expertise in making my vision shine through the arrangements. The first thing she did was take a look at my Pinterest board, then we had a phone consultation where she asked me a lot of questions that I hadn't even asked myself (which was a great thing! Having little talent for decorating, Jane was more than willing to offer suggestions for our floral decor based on the style of our wedding as well as the type of flowers my husband and I particularly liked. Although it is a non-specific description, I kept describing our goal look as "natural", and Jane absolutely knocked it out of the park. She provides summaries of her plan for each aspect of the floral design, and those summaries are very representative of the actual product, which made it easy to picture our wedding without actually seeing it. I'm not much of a review writer; I'm more of a review reader. Like most people, I suppose it's only the really, really awful or really, really stellar experiences that inspire me to write a review. I'm happy to report that Jane and the Wild Orchid fall in the "stellar" category. I decided to throw a fancy birthday party for myself for the first time in my life, and the floral design was very important to me. After interviewing several floral designers on the phone, Jane was the obvious pick for several reasons. First, from day one Jane returned my calls and emails promptly. Maybe for some folks this wouldn't be so critical, but for me it was a high priority. I am always very busy with work, and even though the party was very important to me, I didn't have time to chase down my vendors. Jane made communication easy. In fact, the only time we met face-to-face before my party, she drove out to my house (which is sorta remote) on a 95 degree Sunday, after she'd already done the flowers for two events earlier that day! Second, she listens. She didn't try to push what she thought or wanted on me, all she cared about was that I be pleased with the flowers. I vaguely described a sort of colorful summer picnic feel, and she came through with flying colors (pun intended, I guess). The arrangements were more beautiful than I could've imagined. I'd had the tiniest concern because from her website, it looks like a lot of her work is quite formal, and I wanted the opposite. She ended up bringing me exquisitely beautiful arrangements in Mason jars, which just about every guest complimented. It was perfect. Third, she does what she says she'll do. After we met, she put a description of what she was providing for me in a very detailed project statement to ensure we were on the same page. It was so reassuring to know that it was all there in writing, and she provided what she said she would (and more!). She arrived right on time for our first meeting, as well as on the day of the party. Fourth, she made it look easy. I wanted garlands for all my guests (and for my dog....yep, I'm like that). Other floral designers I'd spoken to had told me that making that many (20+) garlands would be so time-consuming and so expensive.....but Jane just said that'd be great, and that she'd made dog garlands before, and she made me beautiful garlands which were one of the hits of the party. My garland was the most beautiful, of course. Fifth, she has amazing people skills. I was exhausted and cranky on the day of the party (read my review of the caterer and you'll understand at least partially why), so when Jane arrived in her usual good spirits, I think I might've mumbled, "I can't deal with you right now." "No problem," said she, and went about her work. When I emerged from my cocoon of misery, there she was, done with placing the flowers, and that put me in a great mood because they were so beautiful. She was respectful and professional at all times, and is just an all-around sweetheart. Clearly I think very, very highly of this talented, lovely woman. I live in the East Bay, was getting married in Napa and Jane was in Sebastapol- we only met briefly on the day of the wedding, when she kindly dropped off our bouquets at our hotel in Napa (for our photos) before making her way to the ceremony then reception (St. Helena). She is willing to work with you regardless of the distance! So we never met prior to the wedding. With that being said... You MUST hire Jane. She's the best of both worlds- She works within your budget, but manages to produce floral pieces and arrangements that look like you spent a fortune. She's patient and flexible- and was able to give me the "Look and feel (+colors)" that I wanted, even though the flowers I initially wanted were out of season (again without having once met in person!). We chose The Wild Orchid to provide our flowers for our wedding in Healdsburg back in June. We chose them because Jane was easy to work with and made the process of choosing floral arrangements very easy. However, the flowers we saw the day-of were disappointing. Some of the flowers looked old and wilted and were already starting to brown at the edges. My bouquet was nothing like what we had discussed: I had asked for a loose, organic arrangement and what I got was a tight, traditional bouquet. She was attentive and detail oriented and although I know from her instagram that she is incredibly busy, she made me feel like I was the only and most important bride that she was working with.
