I'm not one to write reviews especially bad ones, or on a salon i have been going to for years but i know when im getting my hair done i want my hair to be right, i want a nice and friendly stylist and a salon right? well not here. Backstory my mom and i used to come here maybe 5 years go, it was around 2020-2021 when we started coming here, everyone was super nice and friendly, we both loved this salon and we hated that we were moving away, well after about 2 and a half years we come back and let's just say this place changed... My mom has always had short hair and i used to as well but that was until back in 2021 when i decided i wanted to grow my hair out and donate it to a child in need, so when i go in every 3 months i don't get a lot off but my mom loves her hair short, i mean it's texas of course you want short hair with this weather, so she went in maybe every month or every 2 months, but everyone was always so mean and rude to my mother, she's the type to wear no makeup and wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt because she loves to be comfortable and i agree with her, even i started to wear the same clothes as her but when i find out my stylist is saying my mothers hair feels like Barbie doll hair and a horrible texture, that's when you will lose my money and time. My mom has had a problem with her hair ever since we moved away from texas, she has even asked this stylist if she could help her and her hair, but in return her stylist tells another person who just gave my mother a compliment on her hair, that my mothers hair feels like Barbie doll hair, i'm sorry what?! that's rude. And i'm overprotective of my mother so of course i had something to say but didn't wanna cause a problem in the salon, so we moved hair stylists and went with Melissa, and when i say melissa was amazing to my mom and help her with her hair i mean it, and melissa was honest with my mom and said that the other girls talk about my mom in a horrible way. After we found out melissa left we stopped going there. please save your time and money and most importantly your hair and don't go here. This salon was amazing back in 2020-2022 but now it's horrible. I have way more bad experiences with this salon that i would share but i felt as if this would be enough. My mom now cuts my hair and soon i will be cutting her hair and helping her with her hair needs.

Then I was referred to Cindy Corona... and wow I first took my daughter for her hair and makeup, and she did an amazing job. So I decided to trust her with my own hair color--and she absolutely delivered Cindy was on point with exactly what I wanted. She took her time, explained everything, and made sure the end result was right--not rushed, not "close enough," but exactly right I've already booked my next appointment with her, which says everything. I've seen a few negative reviews....nope, not Cindy. Sometimes people bring their own issues into situations. I'm not sure if the artist was new but it took nearly an hour to even glue the nails on. There were also globs of glue under my nails that were not drilled down. The artist was going to do sparkles, but decided against it but did not wipe it off all the way so I had sparkles on only one nail. Also, some nails were not cured all the way and the airbrush was literally peeling off before I left the parking lot. I went back in to get it fixed but after waiting for 15 minutes, I just went down the street to get my nails completely redone because of everything that went wrong and the fact that I was already there for 2+ hours. I decided to give Kosmo another chance because I heard that they were more of a hair salon than a nail salon, so I go in for a haircut and highlights. I emphasized many many many times that I want warm, caramel highlights. The highlights I received were not only too blonde/yellow, but a bit choppy as well. She really listened to what I wanted and styled my hair exactly how I asked. I absolutely recommend Island Salon and Melissa, especially if you need your appointment done right! As we are walking in two ladies with a little girl walk in without appts and they are told the same. Keep in mind every single manicurist and pedicurist is working on someone. As we sit and wait another lady comes in with an appt for noon and also is asked to sit down. So about now a lady walks in who obviously they all knew as she walked by all 6 people waiting and went to sit down next to a pedicurist who then tells her to go ahead and sit down in the pedicure chair that she will take care of her next... I'm like wait... something isn't right here. I get up and ask the lady at the front why other people are going ahead of the appts and how much longer it will be and she tells me just another minute. Like lady these pedicures just got started and it wasn't going to be another five minutes and it was already 12:20. I just don't understand why nail shops make appointments if they have no desire to honor them. My time is important also. Anyhow, would love to say they were great but based on first impressions I'm not excited about that happening. I guess if they know you or feel like you will be a return Customer maybe they take of you but they should know that new people move here everyday and we had the chance of being a regular but not now. I had a bruised foot so I asked to just have a polish change. She removed the rest of the gel from my toe nails and repainted my nails with gel polish. It felt very rushed. I got back to the house and realized that I had a smudge on the polish on my big toe. We were packing to leave the next day, so I was unable to go back. $65 for a gel polish change, no massage. Today, two days later, the polish came off a 1/2 of one of my toe nails. We got home yesterday, so it's not like I can go back.

I specifically wanted my nails to look nice for my husband's Coast Guard graduation ceremony this weekend, so I was especially upset with how the appointment turned out. I've had multiple French tips done at this salon before, but this is now the third time I've been scheduled with Jay, and each experience has involved an argument over what I'm asking for. I ultimately leave with nails that are not what I requested, and today I paid $137 for a manicure and pedicure that I am extremely unhappy with. I asked for a barely-there light pink French tip using Funny Bunny for the milky-white tips. I showed Jay a picture of exactly what I wanted. Multiple times throughout the appointment, I had to correct him because the base color was looking too orange and too dark. He assured me it was fine. I specifically told him that I wanted a very light pink base with the milky-white Funny Bunny tips. He then told me, "No, it won't look good. It's too light." He suggested doing chrome instead and said that the French tip "won't look good, in my opinion." I explained that I felt it wasn't going to look right because the nude color he had chosen was too orange and dark, and that I had specifically asked for a French tip with Funny Bunny. He then told me he was only going to use bright white because Funny Bunny "won't look good." At that point, I was so frustrated and uncomfortable that I just wanted to leave, so I agreed to the bright white even though it was not what I had originally requested. Unfortunately, the final result is not what I wanted at all, and I'm now stuck with nails I paid $137 for that I don't feel comfortable wearing to an important event. I was so upset during the appointment that I almost started crying. I understand that nail technicians may have professional opinions about what will look best, but there is a difference between offering a suggestion and repeatedly refusing to do the colors and style a paying customer has clearly requested. I shouldn't have to argue with my nail technician every time I'm scheduled with him just to get the color, shape, and style I asked for. I left feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and like my concerns were completely dismissed. Below is my receipt and the picture I asked for and what I ended up with.
