I just had the most wonderful experience with a window washing service. It began with calls to several companies and ended up using "Jim - The Window Washer". After talking with Jim for a few minutes and receiving a very reasonable price, I decided then and there that this was the company I was going to use. We scheduled for later in the month (he's very busy) but I got a call yesterday that he had an opening for this morning. My window washer showed up in front of my house about 20 minutes early and a exactly 8:00 a.m. he rang the doorbell. Approximately 3 hours later he had washed every window in my house (including the tracks and screens) ... inside and out ... he did all the mirrored closet doors (4) and the bathroom mirrors. Great service from booking time to actual washing. Returned the call right away unlike many others I contacted before them. We have around nine windows and Phyl left them sparkling clean in around two hours. He was very professional, wore booties at all times in the house, put all furniture back in place. He also thoroughly washed the tracks and the nets, so overall everything looked even cleaner. Unlike my previous experiences, these windows still have shine even after almost a month. I had been using this company for the past three years when Philip was there. Philip was great. He's left. Now, they have Jose who I'm sure does good work. I was informed when I scheduled with Jim the owner that they have a new guy and he's great. So, I was expecting Jose. But today, Jose brought along his nephew, who claims he has two years experience. The nephew was to do the inside and Jose the outside. The nephew when he came inside seemed very tentative, apprehensive, not sure of himself. I showed the nephew the skylights and he looked worried and said to me, "my uncle told me once, to just pretend they are not there," and maybe "they won't ask", while chuckling. What the heck? Then he proceeded to remove window screens and propped them up against an expensive painting. What the heck? These things were not a real confidence booster for me. I made the mistake of thinking I could call Jim to share my concerns. I was calm. Jim immediately flew off the handle and didn't even attempt to assuage my concerns. He said, "I'm going to have them leave" with an elevated voice. There was no reasoning with him. I said, "I have no issue with Jose, my concern is with the nephew". Anyway, there was no reasoning, Jim's voice was elevated and all I did for the most part was listen. I told him I was disappointed with the way he handling things. He was extremely defensive almost erratic with his thoughts. Unfortunately, my call to Jim resulted in him calling poor Jose and chewing him out. Jose, did not deserve that. Jim should have calmly told Jose that it was not working out. Jose seemed very rattled by Jim's behavior. I apologized to Jose. I did not mean for him to get yelled at. I just called Jim to let him know I wasn't expecting a minimally experienced person and there was some reasonably questionable things already happening. Very unfortunate. Jim owes Jose and me an apology for flying off the handle. As a business owner things will come up and he's needs to brush up on the art of calm diplomacy. Jim should have mentioned to me that Jose was bringing his low experienced nephew. read more

I have used this company for years for my windows. I neglected to do it for 2 years and the windows were pretty dirty. Jim had a cancellation and got me in right away. Andres showed up by himself because his partner was sick. The windows and access to some of the 29 windows was horrible but Andres dealt with everything without much effort. I was amazed. In all the years I've used Yelp, I rarely put in a review because it seems hard to say things right and I have a tendency to go on and on, but I know how helpful they are because I depend on them so much myself. That said, WOW! These guys were great. Jim and Phil helped save me from losing my Security Deposit. I was so grateful - it was required in my lease that the windows be cleaned. I think that's not normal, but I signed it, and I keep my word and there was no way I could do some of the windows (second story windows over the living room with no ladder, and I couldn't go on a ladder anyway). I looked over all the Yelp reviews, looking for not only "they did a good job," but also something along the lines of "honesty" and "integrity." Looking over the Window Guy reviews, that's what I saw. I talked to Jim on the phone and he gave me a range of prices, but said that he'd give me a fair and firm price before he started the job. As we chatted, he said he'd been in business for years and was now turning over the cleaning part to his employee, Phil. I was a little worried about getting some untrained kid until he also said that he'd personally trained and worked side-by-side with Phil for years and planned to retire sometime and he was going to turn the business over to Phil. My fears allayed, I looked forward to meeting Phil. What a sweet guy! He confirmed the price and went right to work. The landlord had just put new carpet in the house, and Phil was very careful to make sure he left nothing but clean windows behind. I had had another company come out to give a bid, but (at a hint from Jim) asked their policy on cleaning the silver window tracks. The fellow from the other company hemmed and hawed, but it came out that they wiped the tracks, but didn't spend any time on them or they'd be there all day and couldn't guarantee they'd be all cleaned out. It seems to me a window doesn't look clean if the track is still dirty. I must confess, I was laying down while Phil worked, but somehow he managed to make mine look shining like new. I am disabled and the windows were in terrible condition. Frankly, I hadn't been able to clean them in the time I lived in the house and I was embarrassed of them. If I had realized I could have all those windows cleaned for the price I did, I would have cut down spending on something else and had it done every year! When I finally get in my next place, I plan to have Phil come out and have him do those windows, too. Rentals (and purchased homes) might have okay windows when you get them, but they're never actually "clean." It really changed how I felt in the house when it looked so clean and welcoming and it made me sad to leave such a beautiful home. The whole house could have been in a Beautiful Homes magazine it looked so sparkling and clean, but no matter how clean the inside was before, it looked dirty until the windows were done. Oh, another thing that you might want to know. I had been told (by another company) that I should be sure to hire a company that came bonded and insured. I checked with my insurance company, and it turns out my Renter's Insurance covered any liability I had if there were one-day workers on the property. No need to pay extra to get that! I'm not sure if I should mention it, but on top of doing a great job on the windows, Phil took pity on me. I was trying to finish up spackling some picture holes after I had had a good rest, and Phil insisted on doing it. Said I was too short to reach them, but I know he was just being a good guy. You know, you don't always luck out and get good people when you call a business that you haven't used before, but when I find a small business that is run by honest people who go the extra mile to help out another person when there's nothing in it for them, I want to acknowledge them and let other people know so they can have the same awesome experience I did. I took some pictures because I wanted to remember the house all clean. Then, I realized that Jim and Phil don't seem like the kind of guys too keen on talking about themselves, so I decided to post them. I'm not a very good photographer. I wish you could have seen the windows in person. Do yourself a favor, and give Jim a call, and he'll send out his best worker, Phil, and your windows will look so clean you'll wonder why you didn't have them done sooner. And you'll get to know a couple of really nice guys, too! I'm sorry I write so much, that's why I never write these. I spoke to Jim by phone a couple of times, and then Phil came out to clean our windows. Both of them are solid, hard-working and trust-inspiring gentlemen. We hadn't had our windows cleaned in over 3.5 years (since they were installed!), so they were in need of a thorough washing. After 3 hours or so in Phil's care, they came out sparkling. There's one spot that has a build-up of mineral deposits due to the sprinklers hitting it, day in and day out. Phil explained about that one, and advised us how to deal with it. He also spotted that one window's environmental coating is degrading, and left us with Milgard's phone number so that we can call them for a replacement. Great service, highly recommend Jim & Jose! I spoke to Jim when making the appointment; he gave me an estimate which I thought was very reasonable though unfortunately he was booked out several weeks. I went ahead and made the reservation but luckily someone cancelled just 5 days later so he was able to slot me into that time. I noticed that this seems to be a common comment in a lot of the reviews so don't be put off if the initial estimate is a few weeks out. Jose and his assistant arrived on time, and after taking a look at the windows the estimate was spot on what Jim had quoted. They washed our windows and screens and cleaned the tracks, both were very professional and did a great job and were very respectful of my house. They wore shoe covers inside the house without me having to ask. I am very meticulous and there was something that didn't turn out as expected, but Jim was very gracious on the phone and it was not a problem and Jose came back out the very next day to fix. I called The Window Washer based on their Yelp reviews. I spoke with Jim on the phone and was able to get an appointment within a few days, probably based on the weather. Jim was friendly and professional. Phil came out to do the windows and did a GREAT job! My windows were pretty bad, I had just had new windows installed and the trim painted. There was some residue on the windows which made them a bit more tedious. I would highly recommend them and will continue to have them in the future.
