They had an extremely wide variety of plant life and supplies to help with your project. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a great experience and will very likely be going back. They just always have a non-friendly, egotistical, rude vibe. As a plant and garden hobbyist - I've tried so hard to enjoy shopping there but I just don't. Prices are not competitive and there are other local (in fort collins) garden stores with employees who offer much more knowledge. It's a bummer- a brewery and a garden store?! Do not go here if you have children. It's a fun concept of a distillery and garden shop and seemed like a perfect Mother's Day outing, but nope. On Mother's Day we were met with rudeness as we were told our children were not welcome to sit in any of the seating areas, even the picnic tables outside (there were no signs outside, only at the bar counter) they could only stand in the hot greenhouse. I was flat out told "we are not a family establishment". Another mom ordered a cocktail and was told she could not hold her child while having a drink and needed to hand her baby to her sister. I have been to many breweries and distilleries who are extremely welcoming to families, have yard games and are kind. This is not one of them. Fine if that is how you want to run your business, but have proper signage, be kind to people who are planning to spend money at your business, and add to your website that this is an adult only greenhouse. I have spent hundreds of not a couple thousand dollars worth of plants and products from this greenhouse and gardening center. I keep hoping the best but get let down almost every time I go there. I think this last straw broke the camels back. Just some of my negative experiences: - I've purchased multiple houseplants that had parasites of one form or another. The response I got was "put it outside and let the natural predators take care of them." Right on. Not let's replace it, or here's a product to help... but put it outside and hope for the best. - a few plants where prices weren't listed and were similar size to others yet they overcharged. They weren't rare plants. They don't carry rare plants. - today I went in for some media products and I saw a variety of tradescantia that I don't have but I didn't want a hanging pot. Because of the signs everywhere warning against prop lifting, I asked nicely if they would take a cutting for me and I would happily pay for it (I've never had an issue with this at any other greenhouse, some even offer the cuttings for free). The owner said no. It wasn't going to diminish the price of the hanging pot and one again I WAS HAPPY TO PAY FOR IT! Their response was a quick no without reasoning. Now don't get me wrong, I get it's their business and they can run it how they see fit... they just won't see me in their doors ever again and I'm happy now to spread word to the rest of the people I know in the plant community. Spoke to the manager about noticing a crack in a large pot that was purchased. We were informed that they are not responsible for anything once the item leaves the greenhouse. It was insinuated that we somehow created the damage by transporting or placing incorrectly. The claim was that everything in the greenhouse is perfect including the plants. I beg to differ as many plants are clearly dying. Nothing was shown in the way of concern or care nor any offer to make things right. Will certainly not be purchasing here anytime in the future. read more

The Windsor Gardner is a cute albeit small nursery nestled just outside of Windsor. Despite the smaller size it does not mean that they don't have great merchandise that gives some of the bigger nurseries in Fort Collins a run for their money. There is lots of great yard knick knacks to put in your yard here as well as brewery and winery supplies too which is an added bonus! They have a nice plant section and a great extra credit bonus which goes miles is the High Hops Brewery in which they share the space with! So you can shop for all of your gardening needs and then relax with a beer! P.S. They have two very friendly gray cats here that love attention! There were two dogs on one of my visits here too but one of them growled at me so I steered clear of them. I love petting friendly pets store owners have while shopping! read more

Today was the first time some of my friends and I went to this greenhouse. Honestly we all had heard about it and were excited to go. Also the fact there's a brewery attached it was a pretty cool concept. We had been to a few greenhouses earlier today and I was looking for a specific kind of plant/spike grass for my patio. Lots of places have been out of stock with what I was looking for for weeks. So I'll start by saying I really wanted to like this place, I really did. We all were enjoying how it is set up and just in awe of how huge it was and how many things they had to offer. There is a lot of stuff here. I mean a lot. Anyway after looking I see one of the spike grasses I'd been searching for all day. Stoked! I had found just one of what I wanted. There was a woman who worked there so I started by asking how to take care of this grass as well as what light it needed. Anyway I couldn't read the price tag on the pot it was wilted from the water And I had looked all over for another one and couldn't find another. So I asked if she knew the price. She seemed annoyed, not sure if it was because a customer was asking for help or because she didn't want me to buy this grass?? Still not sure...Anyway she shoved passed my friends and I and asked me why I wanted just this spike grass. That it was such a strange thing to want???? I said yes I do want this I was just curious the price point. She told me that it was in last years pot? Like that mattered to us, and said that it wasn't looking healthy. I have seen spike grass like this as I said before and it looked just fine, not to mention I have been looking for one that was specifically this size as well as I enjoy working with plants. So then she keeps pressuring me "like well why do you want just this grass?? there's not flowers around it and I usually make arrangements with these", well that's exactly what I wanted to do with it and it was on the sales floor so I assumed, it was for sale. Anyway at that point I was pretty offended at the customer service we were receiving. So she was still trying to argue with me and finally I had enough of the interaction and said "you know I don't know that I want it anymore and I am not going to beg to buy the plant" and then this woman has the balls and complete LACK of customer service to scream at me from across this greenhouse that she's doesn't need to explain to me why she's not going to sell me a dying plant. At this point I wanted to just set all of the other things I wanted to buy down and leave this establishment. She made a scene. And I was heated. Because A: if that was the case and the plant was dying and a customer says I still want to buy it then tell that customer that your not going to offer a refund because you said it was dying and they bought it anyway. Cool. I would have accepted that and tried to revive it knowing it may die. Or because B: if you don't like how a plant is looking and you want to revive it yourself take it off of your sales floor. Situation, AVOIDED! Or even because C: handle the situation with a paying customer like a professional. Not like a child stomping their feet around screaming across at a customer making a scene. If you work for a establishment that is customer service reliant, maybe get some skills in this department. If you don't have them or care to have them, then you have no business being in that business! Anyway skip forward to my friend annoyed by this interaction and definitely more of someone to voice their opinion and talk to a manager about the experience we just had, this same woman comes stomping up to her asking her issue and telling her she doesn't work to be a slave driver. Like we were slave driving? Interesting. Then she tells us to not even put our stuff back and to get the hell out of the nursery. WOW, I mean WOW! to get the HELL OUT?!!? Turns out that this woman was the owner of this greenhouse! I was absolutely shocked and concerned that she was the owner and she was acting like this to us as paying customers. All of which who work in the customer service industry and talk to people for a living! We are like walking sales people to places we love and enjoy going to. It's a shame, I am definitely going to be sharing with all of my customers this terrible and unbelievable experience. If you go here, maybe don't ask questions about how to take care of plants/ and or prices of something you want to buy?! Or maybe just dont ask the owner those questions and ask one of the more kind and helpful employees? Honestly we are all still shocked about this bizarre encounter and feel disheartened about how we were spoken to and treated over a spike grass? Honestly not sure, and like I said I REALLY wanted to like this place! Won't be returning or recommending! read more

Boy is it nice to have a garden shop in town. The staff that works at the Windsor Gardener have always been helpful and friendly. They know a lot about what they sell and are more than happy to chat with you to see if they can help you with all things gardening. They also have a nice selection of plants, and a much better selection than the so-called "garden-centers" of the big box stores. They should be opening up for the season soon....yay! read more

Very eclectic store. Presented more like an average garden garage sale with less attention to organization. Still, flowers looked healthy. Love the home grown hops and beer tasting room. Good for the location but I would prefer the quality elsewhere. read more

Hate to give them such a low review. I came in here with a friend in early June, and it was not the best first impression. The staff members were very friendly and helpful, and so were the cats! However, a good amount of their plants looked like they needed attention. Everything seemed almost overrun by lawn decor and pots, pots, pots. I was sad to see their selection of succulents and cacti. They had been planted in potting soil...? A few of them were moldy/tipped over to show rotten roots. I am not a plant expert in the least, but I know that planting succulents in moist soil will kill them dead. I felt urged to buy them all just to save them. read more

Wow, the owner/manager of the Windsor gardener might be one of the rudest entrepreneur's that I have come across. My teenageers (15 and 13) each needed to to purchase a small plant for their school projects so we decided to head to the Windsor Gardener to pick some up. This is a bit of a unique situation because the store is attached to the excellent High Hops brewery. I told the teenages to go pick out what they need while I have a beer, afterall it is their project why do I need to pick out a plant? When they ask the staff for recommendations they were told that they could not be in the store and needed to be with a parent. While I understand the overall logic of their policy, they just kicked out two paying customers! I went to ask the manager about the situation and was clearly told that it was their policy and they didn't care if they were paying customers or not. I promise that Ace or Lowes absolutely have no problems or restrictions on selling products to teenagers. It is actually a verified fact since the same teenagers were able to make a purchase, completely independently, at the local Ace after being denied services at the Windsor Gardener. I am both offended and disgusted by this experience, especially because I went to have a direct conversation with the owner or manager and was basically told to go to hell as well. Now that is real customer service! I'm a huge believer in supporting local community stores but this store clearly does not support members of their local community! I have came in on two separate occasions with issues with my garden. Both times I brought in a pictures and a leaf to try and figure out what was wrong, both time I came in they referred me to the same woman (I'm sorry I can't remember her name!) and she knew right away what was wrong and how to fix it.
