We met our priest friend, Father Dean, for an early dinner while we were on our way to Medford. We loved the atmosphere in the very old building in downtown Yreka. Our meal was delicious! We started with a crisp, fresh green salad with raisins. It was great. And delicious bread. My husband and I shared a dinner trio with a stuffed mushroom, pastry wrapped lasagna and tortellini. Father had a dish of tortellini which he also enjoyed. For dessert my husband had the lemon cake and Father had the tiramisu. I tasted both - Yum. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The location was quaint and a short walk from our hotel. We were greeted right away. Our party was a larger group so we were given a larger space to accommodate us. The dining area was comfortable and nice. Our server was excellent! She was friendly, on top of our needs, and did a great job with a larger group. My daughter and I shared the Chicken piccata with pasta and my husband had the white fish special. We also ordered a Caesar salad. The salad was so delicious and ingredients fresh and crisp. The bread was good that was served during the salad course. My meal was changed from a marinara to an alfredo sauce on the pasta and that might have been one the best version of this meal I've ever had. The veggies were broccoli and they give you a large helping. It's fresh and was steamed to perfection. We also ordered a bottle of the house red wine and it was perfectly paired to our meal. We have been going to Strings since they opened years ago. The food is pretty good, but the prices have gotten totally absurd. Expect to spend $30 plus a tip=$40 a person. They use to give you all you can eat bread and soup/salad with you meal, but not anymore. The restaurant is cute and outdoor seating delightful. The staff is on-point. This is a nice place to take a date, but no one in this town can afford these prices. I don't know how they can stay open. read more

I thought our waitress was very nice and I enjoy that every meal comes with a soup or salad and bread. I enjoyed the soup and the salad was great as well, though a little too heavy handed on the dressing. Honestly, our entrees were just ok. I feel like the marinara is too sour and a little flat with the taste, but that was my opinion. Overall I'd rank it a 2-3 for food alone but the service and charm adds an extra star. Though I must say, we waited a crazy long time for our waitress to bring us back our card, she took it with our check but didn't return for 17-18 minutes!! I had to get up and as I got up to find her, she came back to our table finally. What a wonderful meal and experience! Not your typical Italian menu you find everywhere. Food was crafted with high quality ingredients and deliciously prepared. We sat on the patio and it was lovely. Try the Aetna Brewery blackberry blond, it is a perfect summer beer and pairs great with the shrimp scampi. Melissa our server was wonderful and attentive to all our needs and promptly followed through with requests, she's a gem! Terribly dirty toilet, shabby dirty furniture inside, it will be very worse for you to find an institution. Waiting for food for at least an hour, we ordered a lot of different food, pasta that takes 15 minutes to cook, and pizza that takes 15 minutes to cook, we waited for almost an hour. Our absolutely favorite place now when we come back to Yreka. We sat in their back patio area. We had the most incredible server of all times! Stephani we love you! She was friendly, funny and so very compassionate with my 86 yr mother who has dementia. I will tell you, my mother loves lemonade but each time she takes a sip after we order it, she will claim it burns her throat. Most times she won't drink the whole thing so we wasted that money HOWEVER...Strings lemonade didn't do that. Each time she took a sip she would repeat how delicious it was. She couldn't get enough. We were waiting for her to start complaining it burns her throat but again each times she works repeat how delicious it was. Yeah! She even had another glass of it! We asked for Stephani's recommendations on her favorites. We ordered them. I think we agreed that being Italian it wasn't the best Italian food we've had but pretty darn close. My mother, born and raised in Italy, ate more tonight than on most days of the trip so that says something. We were loving relaxing on the patio, the beautiful evening, the amazing service and the great food. A perfect way to end a 2 week road trip. I almost want to take another vacation just to Yreka to come here. To end it all we wanted to split a dessert. Stephani told us her daughter has started trying out her cheesecake skills so we ordered a slice. I think it was a cherry oreo. I told her it was so good and tasted like a black forest cake. It was definitely worth getting. We didn't know the other server on the patio was her daughter until she was happy we tried her cheesecake. What a lovely restaurant. It was one of the best Italian meals we've ever had. I ordered Chicken Lombardy and my husband ordered Chicken Marsala. We both had the salad and that was a disappointment. I think it was because of the salt content of the sunflower seeds. It was a major disappointment for my husband. The Chicken Lombardy had artichokes and mushrooms in the creamy Marsala sauce, plain steamed broccoli, and a small side of marinara spaghetti. So much broccoli and I appreciated that it wasn't drowning in butter. The spaghetti was al dente and the perfect portion size. My husband said the Chicken Marsala was very good. He was disappointed that he received three spears of asparagus when he saw how much broccoli I received. He liked the roasted potatoes. He also liked the bread and almost ate the entire basket! I managed to snag two pieces. It was just the two of us on a Friday night and we arrived just before the "rush." It sounded like reservations were the best bet if you were a party of four or more. What a great find while visiting Yreka. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the Italian Combo and my wife had the Award Winning Combo. Both were tasty, and the portions weren't overwhelming but were definitely filling. The Lasagna pastry with the Award Winning Combo was unique and was good. The salads that came with dinner were fresh, and we also liked the bread. The dining room was clean and cozy. We shared a bottle of wine with dinner and had an enjoyable evening. Strings used to be a restaurant that we looked forward going to. It had great service, satisfying portions and great overall food quality. This is my first review but I feel that our dinner experience was beyond disappointing. If they are not going to offer seconds on salad like they did before, they should bring you enough for a party of four or individual salads instead of family style. When we asked for a second bowl, the waitress gave us a confused, blank look and went and got another waitress to tell us they don't offer more salad anymore. When we looked around to the other tables that only had two people, they had the same sized family style bowl of salad as our party of four. The entrees were mediocre and they don't have nightly specials anymore. The lobster mac portion was decent but only had one small chunk of lobster among the cheese. The spaghetti sauce was watery and bland. The tortellini entree was just as pricy as the other entrees but half the portion. The waitress was Stephanie. When asked about the comparison in portion sizes, she told us that she didn't have anything to do with what happens in the back. She proceeded by telling us which dishes to order if we wanted a larger portion. Then she blamed the rise in prices to the insurance ponzie scheme. She then left and came back several times with more reasons to defend the subpar dinner. When she brought our check? She felt obligated to tell us that most places don't even give soup or salad with an entree, like we should be happy with our child sized salads and tortellini dish. I hope this helps and that if you are hungry either go somewhere else, if you are a party of four you should sit at two different tables until after the salad is served, or don't order the tortellini and ask the waitress which entrees have larger portions. read more

The only reason this place gets a three star is due to the amazing service our waitress provided. She was tall, thin, brunette, and she wore a black glove on one hand. I had a salad and my husband got soup, but she brought a salad bowl to the table that would be plenty for four. Where we were sitting I could see the prep area for certain dishes including the salad, dessert, and soup. I missed how our salad was prepared, but I did see another waitress prepare a salad. I saw her wipe her nose, and grab things from different bins for the salad with her bare hands. It grossed me out a bit. I watched her a lot from that point on and her entire demeanor was very nonchalant. I got fettuccine alfredo and it was probably one of the worse I've had. Very bland, liquidity sauce, and lacking any fresh parmesan for me to at least top it with. I dont know why I got a dessert. I blame the nice waitress. I witnessed her pull my lemon cake out of the fridge, heat it in the microwave for a bit, and then top it with some dollops of whip cream. Blah! read more

And my food is not in the photo, because I ordered a fish for myself and waited for it for an hour, and then it turned out that they had forgotten about my order at all.
