    Book themed cocktail menu
    Sarah H.

Wow! This place blew us away! From the cozy booths to the menu, everything feels very curated and elevated. I absolutely loved the wine list (and that you can get flights), and a special shout out to the book-themed cocktail menu. That made my inner English teacher veryyy happy. It was so hard to choose! We ended up getting 2 glasses of red (a Pinot Nero and a Syrah, both excellent.) For dinner, our group tried the sourdough, the short rib, the flatbread and the burger with beef fat fries--all were great! The servers and food runners were sooo knowledgeable and did a fantastic job of providing recommendations, and explaining the foods/wines. An amazing must-try spot, my new fav in Frederick!

They are located with a view of Carrol Creek. This time of year you can enjoy the blooms. Our first dish was a mushroom strudel with a side salad. It took a long time to get our simple order. Despite the slow service, the meal was too good to give less than a 5. Both dishes had generous sized salads with fresh inviting ingredients. The mushroom strudel popped with earthiness. The chicken was tender and played well with the cheese and bacon. I've been coming to Frederick for a long time, but only just discovered this place. And it was long overdue.

24 Hour Braised 12 oz. Short Rib for 2

Stopped in for dinner without a reservation. The hostess was very friendly and gave several options for seating. They have quite a bit of outdoor seating and indoor options. The service was outstanding and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered the braised short rib for two and ordered some sourdough bread while waiting for our entree. The bread was amazing and came with some butter and some type of homemade ham. The bread was so warm and soft on the inside and crunch on the outside. We were able to converse while eating the bread and sampling the wine under the lighted stars ceiling (I swear I saw a shooting star in the lights). The entree came with plenty of food and included a gravy on top of the beef, Yukon mashed potatoes, and green beans. The food was seasoned perfectly and the mashed potatoes were SO good with the beef. They weee buttery and had enough salt to where I didn't need to add any. They also have a pretty large dessert menu to include homemade ice cream and sorbet! If you're in Frederick you have to check this place out.

Wagyu Burger with beef fat fries

I really liked this restaurant, but my dining experience was a tiny bit abnormal. My first impression when walking in was, "wow, it smells weird in here." I can't explain the smell, just that it was stale and didn't seem to come from the food. Perhaps it was the building itself, but with having a sensitive nose the smell affected my enjoyment of the food. I ordered the wagyu burger and beef fat fries as my entree and the sweet potato cheesecake for dessert. The wagyu burger was big and hard to eat - not just because the burger itself was tall, but a lot of liquid leaked out of the burger with every bite and was quite messy for my hands and the plate. Otherwise, the burger was good. I enjoyed the beef fat fries. They were crispy and soft and perfectly seasoned. The sweet potato cheesecake isn't my typical go-to, but I decided to try something new. I'm not a fan of cranberries and they were a bit too sweet for me, but the rest of the dessert was perfect - sweet, savory, creamy, crunchy and soft! The service was above par. Typically, at restaurants the only waiter to engage with me (aside from "Welcome/Bye") is the one waiting my table. I talked to several waiters and staff here and they were genuinely friendly. Even better, I got to watch the boats on the creek light up before dinner. It was a great experience (aside from the smell).

Great spot in downtown fredrick! The location was a tad hard to find for a tourist in the area but I eventually found it after going through the elevators across the library parking structure. There was some miscommunication about the drink specials as the drinks on the bill at the end of the night did not reflect the prices on the menu. Aside of that, the food and ambiance was great. The beef fat fries were yummy but you couldnt tell the difference between the beef fat and regular fries tbh. My table split the salad, which was plenty and an entree essentially. I got the duck confit and that was cooked beautifully. Crispy skin and tender meat. Yum! Great place for a date night or something more upscale.

Great food and service! Our waiter recommended some tasty items and drinks! It was very nice atmosphere as well. The only tricky thing to me was getting off the elevator to find it.

One of the best restaurants in the region. Consistently great food, superior service and an amazing wine list. Recommend their Beef Program. Try any cut from Roseda Farms for perfectly cooked grass fed local beef. Brussel sprouts or the mac & cheese are the way to go for sides. For appetizers the maple-glazed pork belly with blue corn grits is something special. For dessert the Chocolate "Smith Island " Cake is next level good for chocolate lovers! Logistics: Parking garage around the corner. Day trip to Frederick. Nice location next to the creek. Good sized outdoor seating. Food was tasty. Very good burger and fries. Originally ordered salad as my side but the fries looked so good. Glad I switched. The mushroom streudel is an inventive dish. The mushroom filling is "meaty"

BURRATA fennel & vanilla onion jam, tamarind caramel, Satsuma orange, toasted focaccia

We came for a celebratory brunch on a snowy Sunday and were treated to a wonderful dining experience from top to bottom! The service from front of house staff to waitstaff was exceptional--warm, welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere lends itself well for a cozy, intimate, quiet environment for one on one and group conversation alike. The cocktail menu was inventive, the wine and beer selection impressive. The burgers received 5 stars from the meat eaters at the table. As the vegetarian at the table, I enjoyed the $27 two-course deal, ordering the Burrata and Mushroom Hash. The Burrata was beautifully plated and screamed creativity with the paired flavors and components, elevating beyond the usual tomato/balsamic pairing. The focaccia was fresh with just the right level of crunch, and the perfect vehicle for enjoying each texturally complex and flavorful bite. The Mushroom Hash (I sub'd egg whites) was similarly bold in flavor. A touch over salted for my taste but not overwhelmingly so. It also would have benefit from a bit more of the underlying sauce to provide a bit more cohesion to the dish. Terrific first impression, Wine Kitchen team, and looking forward to our next visit!

This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown for brunch or dinner. We love the ambience of the restaurant and also the food is always delicious. This last time I got steak and eggs and my husband got the burger and fries. We also love their bread. We usually ask for more lol. This last time we went to celebrate my husband's birthday and the service was great. We will definitely be back and we will bring our friends and family anytime they visit us in town.

Came here for the first time for weekend dinner. We sat outside as the weather was beautiful, and we were greeted by our server. He walked us through the menu and gave us his recommendations. We ordered a good amount of appetizers and some drinks. My husband and I loved the beef fat fries as well as the carrots. The meat and cheese platter was pretty good, but I'd probably ask what meats are included as they had chicken liver as one of them. Just in case you don't eat certain types of meat. We also got the pork belly appetizer, which was delicious. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I'd probably go back again for an entree.

Dinner 24 Hour Braised 12 oz. Short Rib for 2 and side of carrots and fries
    Felicia C.

The service was astounding. They are very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance feels very upscale and unique. The food was delicious! We got the shareable prime ribs and they melt in your mouth, so delicious! The roasted carrots that came alongside were a bit overly salted, but the fries were delicious, you can't go wrong with fries. We also got the charcuterie board and that was fun! There was a wide assortment of cheeses, pickled items, jam, and bread/crackers - one thing I'd note is that the cheddar was extremely stale and very very hard. We also got a wine flight of Cabernet and it was great! All and all, wonderful restaurants. Perfect for a date night, and a lovely place to have a nice wine night. I would definitely come back to try their other food!

Maple-Glazed Pork Belly and Grit (8.17.24)

8.17.24 My husband and I met up for dinner with my former work friends who are now retirees. We had dinner reservations for 7 at 5:30 pm and had a semi-private area in the back. They had a 3-course menu ($55) for Restaurant Week which everyone in our party took advantage of except me and my husband who ordered off the regular menu. The food was exceptional. Hubby and I ordered Maple-Glazed Pork belly for our appetizer and the Short Ribs for 2 for our main course. The pork belly came with grits. Although it was delicious, it was pricy ($18) given the portion. Literally just two bites per person. LOVED the short ribs. It was so tender and wonderfully flavored. We ordered the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes for our sides which were equally amazing. For convenience, I would have preferred if they served it on individual plates rather than putting it on a platter. For dessert, I ordered a scoop of the Salted Caramel. The sea salt was not dispersed evenly so some bites were very salty compared to others. Also, the ice cream was semi-melted and runny. I want my ice cream to be firm and solid. My friends and their spouses enjoyed their meals and alcoholic beverages. We enjoyed the food, drinks, service and each other's company. I haven't laughed that much in a while. It was a fun evening. Some helpful notes: Patio seating is available. There is a parking garage behind the restaurant which you can access through a building.

Sparkling wine flight and old fashion style cocktail. Delicious!

They have various areas and games you can play. Since it was Monday night it was limited to one area that was still spacious and popular. We loved all the beer and soda cocktail we tried as well as the hot dog pastry and pickled pizza we ate. Our favorite of the beers was the apple butter one we took home a four pack of. It is a ways out from us in Silver Spring. However would love to go back and for them to either put a taproom closer to us and/or ideally but unrealistically run regular MARC service out here as my wife and I do not drive.

We brought a group of approximately 50 guests and spent the entire afternoon and evening there, from 2 p.m. until closing. Given the size of our group, I estimate we spent well over $2,000 on food and drinks. The brewery was relatively quiet when we arrived, and our party filled much of the venue. Unfortunately, we encountered several issues that made what should have been a special celebration feel unwelcome. When we arrived, children were allowed up to a belt divider separating one area of the brewery. Shortly after our group arrived, the divider was removed and we were told that the children--even well-behaved kids around 12 and 13 years old--had to move to a completely different area. This split our group apart despite there being plenty of available space. A couple of hours later, we were told that we could not use our own insulated tumblers to keep our purchased beers cold. This included the birthday guest himself. What made this especially frustrating was that we observed other patrons using tumblers without being asked to stop. The final disappointment came during the birthday celebration. We brought a cake and a sparkler candle. The manager, who I believe was Derrick Erwee, informed us that it was a fire hazard and could not be used. While I understand safety concerns, no alternative was offered, meaning my husband didn't even get the chance to blow out a birthday candle on his 50th birthday. I then asked if our group, including the children, could come together briefly for a photo and to sing Happy Birthday for just a minute or two. The request was denied. This was particularly disappointing given that a storm was happening outside and our group made up a large portion of the customers in the brewery at the time. I spoke directly with the manager to explain how these decisions were affecting our celebration, but he showed little interest in finding a reasonable accommodation or demonstrating basic customer service. I want to be clear that the bartenders were friendly and professional throughout the event. They were not the issue. However, the overall management experience left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. After investing significant time, money, and effort into planning such an important milestone celebration, I sincerely wish I had chosen another venue. Based on our experience, I would not recommend RAK Brewing for family gatherings, large group events, milestone celebrations, or anyone expecting a customer-focused experience. I am never coming back, nor my 50 guests.

I had driven two hours and was hungry, but I was also committed to making good decisions. Or at least mostly good decisions... The hostess offered me a seat at the second-floor bar rather than the quoted 25-30 minute wait. Great! Solo diners love surprise upgrades. Unfortunately, when I got upstairs, the one "available" seat had apparently been claimed by a diaper bag and a giant straw sunhat belonging to the woman sitting next to it holding a too-little-to-walk baby sitting at the bar. Uhhh...this isn't going to work. Back downstairs I went. I gave them my name and number, found a shady spot outside, and settled in for what I assumed would be a long wait. Five minutes later, my table was ready. Thank you, Universe! My server greeted me with water immediately, explained the QR code menu situation, and told me not to order through the app because she'd be right back. No worries, friend. I'd already done my homework. I knew exactly what I wanted. One Martha Stewart's Prison Pizza ($22), please. (Sausage, broccoli, ricotta, Calabrian chili peppers, lemon oil, and sea salt.) I asked for the chili peppers on the side because I know myself. I like adventure. I don't enjoy possibly setting my mouth on fire. And a Diet Pepsi ($3.50), because balance. While I waited, I people-watched, which is one of my favorite hobbies. White Rabbit was PACKED. The patio was full. The downstairs bar was full. Upstairs was full. Couples, groups of girlfriends, older folks, younger folks, families, solo diners...everyone seemed happy to be there. The place itself is pretty small, which explains the wait. Six tables downstairs, maybe eight bar seats, more seating upstairs, and a constant dance of servers carrying food through the same front door customers use. Add the "please wait to be seated" crowd gathering in the narrow hallway and I'd describe things as organized chaos. But once I was seated, I was perfectly comfortable and out of the traffic pattern. One cool touch I noticed: outlets and USB ports built right into the front of the bar. Maybe that's common and I've somehow missed it all these years, but I thought it was pretty neat. Then my pizza arrived. Oh good lawd. OH. GOOD. LAWD. This pizza was SO GOOD! I knew from the first bite that I was in trouble. There was no sauce, which surprised me at first, but after approximately three seconds I no longer cared. The sausage was plentiful. The broccoli added texture. The ricotta was creamy and rich. And that lemon oil?! That lemon oil set it off! Everything just worked together perfectly. The Calabrian peppers arrived on the side exactly as requested. I bravely sampled a very small amount on my fork before desecrating my pizza and quickly determined that folks with stronger heat tolerance than me will absolutely love them. They were just a little too spicy for my delicate tastebuds. Thankfully, the pizza was incredible without them. And those slices? MONSTERS. I ate one and seriously contemplated a second before reminding myself that I had dessert plans elsewhere. A box was requested. Self-control was exercised. Barely. As a solo diner, I also want to give White Rabbit extra points. Multiple staff members checked on me throughout the meal. I never felt forgotten, rushed, or weird sitting by myself. Everyone was warm, kind, and made me feel completely comfortable. I really appreciated that. My total bill came to $32.44 including tip which felt really reasonable given the amount of pizza I consumed and brought home. Worth every penny. I'm already scheming my next two-hour drive back. Maybe a smashburger. Maybe those Brussels sprouts everyone keeps raving about. Maybe another pizza. Maybe all of it! I highly recommend checking out White Rabbit. Make it a destination, not just a stop while you're in the area. Don't let the size of the place or the wait scare you off. It's totally worth it. PRO TIP: If you park in the Church Street Parking Garage, look for the staircase labeled "STAIR 3." White Rabbit is literally right outside the door at the bottom. No hide-and-seek required!
