We finally had a chance to check out Rocci's after years of living in the Frederick area. It's located in Worman's Mill near other restaurants and shops. There is a pretty good amount of street parking nearby. We were greeted and seasoned outside on their patio area. They have a nice bar and excellent wine selection. We tried the house Cabernet and it was excellent. The server immediately brought out some bread that was nice and fresh. The plate comes with olive oil, rosemary, and a whole garlic clove for flavor. I got the basic spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were very good, tender, and flavorful. These are definitely made in house. My GF got the bolognese and let me tell you this was the star if the show. It comes with fresh made pasta (fettuccini I believe) and a great homemade sauce (you can see the carrots and other ingredients). It was exceptional and I would highly recommend. The service was okay, I believe our server had far too many tables and took about 20 minutes to cash out on a slower Wednesday dinner service. My friend, her boyfriend, and I had a wonderful dinner at Ricci! We were initially seated near the pizza oven, which made things a little too toasty for our liking, but the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating and happily moved us to a more comfortable table. The meal started with some of the softest bread I've had in a long time. It was warm, fluffy, and perfect for dipping into the olive oil. We could have easily eaten an entire basket! My friend and I shared the filet mignon with whipped potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked beautifully, the potatoes practically melted in your mouth, and the asparagus spears were fresh and flavorful. We also split the seafood pasta, and the portion was enormous! Loaded with seafood and packed with flavor, it was just as impressive as the steak. My friend's bf got gluten free pasta-- they have gluten free options! My friend ordered an espresso martini, which was smooth, delicious, and the perfect complement to the meal. By the end of dinner, we were absolutely stuffed and couldn't even make room for dessert--which is probably the best sign of a satisfying meal. We just tried Ricci last night and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, and good portions. We ordered the shrimp gondola as an appetizer, which I highly recommend. It's creamy on a toasted and crusty crostini bread. The presentation of the food was very eye catching, as well. Then, for main course, I ordered the seafood marabella, which was a fettuccine pasta with cream sauce and lots of seafood to include shrimp and scallops. The fresh Parmesan was excellent and topped off the main course. I also ordered the Figgin peachy drink was a light, sweet and refreshing beverage as part of my meal. The service was very quick and our server was pleasant. The ambiance is excellent. It's located on Mill Pond Rd. surrounded by other restaurants, shops, and apartments. Stopped here on a Saturday night for dinner while in the area. I stumbled upon this place on some online forum etc. and put it on the list. Located in a self sustained housing development with an added park, townhouses, retirement home etc, it almost looks like a small concession stand when driving by. However, inside was very nice and decorated well - bar area, plenty of glass and decoration tile for color, various seating options inside and outside. We were sat at a high top table along the window near the large pizza ovens. We started with the burrata and crab dip to start. The burrata itself was good - but the large tomato wedges is a fetish restaurants do that I just don't understand. It is very hard to eat those and cut them and negotiate all that. The crab dip was solid, I liked the flavor of it and it wasn't a paste as some can be served as. For my entree I went with the chicken parm, substituting gnocchi for spaghetti. It comes with an up charge if you do this but I didn't care. Chicken was kind of thicccer than what I would want- would rather the cutlets be thin and manageable. Sauce was very good and tangy. Dessert was the chocolate lava cake. Standard issue. Would like to come back and try other things on the menu including pizza, but for not - very good. read more

The food was very good. We had many entrees to include the Marsala, rigatoni, and the ribeye steak. All were delicious. The salads, appetizers and Desserts were also very good. The food was hot and was presented well. Pastas were homemade and excellent. The service was OK. We did send one dish back because the veal had a strong meaty flavor. They asked to many questions on why was it being returned (waiter twice and the manager once). For a $700 bill just gladly take it back! The ambiance in the restaurant is very nice. read more

5 Stars - Beautiful Atmosphere, Great Food, and That Shrimp Appetizer! I've been to Ricci three times now, and every visit has been a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the ambiance is warm and inviting, and everything from the food to the drinks to the service has been consistently solid. I first took my mom here for a pre-Mother's Day outing--just drinks and appetizers--and she loved it so much that she requested we go back the next time she visited. So we returned for dinner recently, and it did not disappoint! One standout dish I have to mention is one of their newer appetizers--I believe it's called the shrimp gondola. It wasn't available during my first visit, but I had it the second and third time, and wow... it is honestly one of the best things I've tasted all year. It was so good that my mom ended up ordering her own after trying a bite of mine! The Ricci is easily one of my favorite date night restaurants. I have had mixed results with getting the correct food sent out first-time but overall dishes are as described and good quality. Always delicious, and delivered fast (maybe too fast?). My biggest compliments are to the waitstaff and management. After three visits I have always been respected and treated well by the staff. However, the restaurant is fairly cramped due to its size. And on a busy night you can receive uncomfortable corner tables or be inches away from the table behind you. Its saving grace is its beautiful bar seating (next to their giant pizza oven) and outdoor patio. read more

Just had dinner. I had the beet salad and added steak. The salad was good but the beef was terrible, dry/chewy/tough. Thankfully management took it off the bill. The service was not great. Tons of dirty plates piled up on table. Kids spilled a drink and no one helped. There was ice and wet napkins everywhere. Sangria was a cup of ice with a splash of wine. Kids pizza was soggy and crust super salty. Overall, very disappointing. Ricci used to be great. Clearly that is no longer the case. read more

Amazing Italian restaurant with several areas of seating and a bar right in front of their pizza oven. Everything we had was outstanding. The sauces were flavorful and the pizza was some of the best I've had around Frederick. We asked for prosciutto on our pizza instead of mortadella and they were accommodating. She's a little pricey but everything was fresh and would absolutely pay again in a heartbeat. Our waitress was very friendly and able to recommend several options. Can't wait to go back. The only thing I wasn't impressed by was the tiramisu unfortunately. read more

We love Ricci!! The best pasta dishes around, and the brunch is excellent, too! We almost always order the calamari and the chicken parmesan. The lox platter is my favorite brunch item - highly recommend! The bread and oil they provide at the start of service is so incredible. I love the outdoor patio on a warm day. My husband and I came with our 5 kids after a long hike. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, meatballs, broccolini, seafood, pasta, lasagna, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious! Our server was fast and attentive. The ambiance is absolutely perfect for a date night and the bar had so many different games up to watch. My only slight complaints were - We did have an issue because I ordered a spritz and it came with orange juice, but they quickly made a traditional one lol. My wife and I had very different choices of pasta but both had the same tomato sauce that was closer to Ketchup than an italian Marinara. My sauce was supposed to be Bolognese but there was too much tomato and not enough meat. We came here to celebrate Valentine's Day on Saturday. We had a reservation for 6:30 but got there a little early but we're still seated immediately. The restaurant was gorgeous and the lighting was great for an intimate setting. They bring you out some complimentary bread to start with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip it in, which was very good. For drink, I took our waiters recommendation and got the Figgin Peachy ($14), it had fig vodka and with peach puree and Prosecco, it was good. We love charcuterie, so we got the Tagliere Misto ($27) which was our favorite thing we ate. It had a great variety of meats that went so well with the Parmigiano Reggiano and Manchego cheeses. It also had these super sweet cherries that were delicious! For our entrees, Ryan ordered the Salmone Alla Griglia ($35) and I ordered the Seafood Marebella ($35). I'm not a fan of salmon so I didn't try that but Ryan said it was really good and he loved the sauce. The broccolini that he got with it was garlicky and absolutely delicious. The seafood Marebella that I got had crab, shrimp and scallops. The sauce was creamy and you could tell that the pasta was handmade and the seafood was fresh. For dessert we had to get the Creme Brulee ($12), it was definitely the most creamy Creme Brulee we've had and it wasn't at all grainy which is usually an issue with some that we've had. Mediocre experience at best. My order was twice incorrect. The first time they fixed it and I was happy. But when they brought that order back, it was still wrong. I had a smoked bourbon old fashioned that was good. The appetizer of roasted Brussels sprouts was, in fact, good, too. Maybe 4.0/5.0. Service was personable and pretty speedy. Not the worst, just has a lot of room for improvement. May try again in a year when they've had time to sort things out. I'll start with the water. It's supposedly infused with fruit but the only evidence was floating pulp; it tasted like normal tap water to 2/3 of our party. When I ordered drinks from the bar, the glasses were always wet on the outsides and bottom, and one time the waiter put the wet glass on the menu that I was still looking at. Moving to the menus, they were pretty faded and had ink transfer from other menus so you couldn't read all the ingredients and I wanted to wash my hands after handling them. We had to ask for refills and it was hard to get attention of the waiter at times. All of the staff was nice but they seem new, like a full staff of first-time employees and high school kids. Our appetizer of calamari tasted "fishy" to 2/3 of our group to the point where we didn't eat it. Our entrees came out at different times with one persons side coming out halfway through the meal. The pizza was good but a little bland. The crab Benedict was good. The French toast was supposed to come with maple syrup but didn't. Presentation of all the food was very nice. Overall design is pleasant. The bathroom sink is a little small. Automatic soap dispenser kept dispensing when I was trying to use the water. Could have been worse but I can't say I'll be going back any time soon considering the high price vs our mediocre experience. read more

The food was delicious but a bit overpriced compared to similar venues and food quality. The big detractor was the service. Our server was not attentive to our party of 6. I had to find her multiple times for drinks, refills, the check, and so on. A customer should not have to get up from their seat during dinner to request items a second time (or even a first time). When I saw that gratuity had automatically been added to our party of 6, I was truly disappointed. First timer at the upscale restaurant heading towards walkersville. Located in a popular plaza around plenty of food spots and tiny shops. Limited menu for brunch but all great looking dishes. I ordered the blue crab omelet and at first sight it did seem average looking. Now biting into it is what changed things for me. The crab was so rich in flavor! So unhappy with the taste of the lasagna and chicken parm sauce... far too acidic, not as smooth as it could have been. Pizza crust was soggy and underbaked.. I wanted to please my visitors with a terrific meal, but we were disappointed all around. The only bright spot was the Wait staff - they were wonderful and performed their duties perfectly. At approximately 1hour into our meal the hostess asked us to finish and vacate the table because the next reservation was waiting! We have travelled the world and have NEVER had that happen before. I'm surprised to be the first reviewer of Ricci Di Mare. May be some confusion between their name on their website (this one) and their name on Facebook (Ricci Italian Restaurant - which doesn't show up on Yelp either, so...). In any event, Spousal Unit and I came tonight to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. We've heard good word-of-mouth and hey, who doesn't like a good Italian meal. And that's what we got! Place was nearly full but a small four-top had just opened so we were seated immediately. Very nice decor, with a nice outside patio and bar. Menu is very comprehensive, with a mix of classic Italian red sauce entrees plus interesting ones like Branzino All Brace and Bistecca Fiorintina. We kept it simple. For apps, we ordered a beet salad and meatballs. The salad was HUUUGE, and with a nice balsamic dressing. The meatballs were almost as good as the ones at Ava's in St. Michaels (which says a lot). For entrees, SU judges Italian places by their Eggplant Parm; she really liked it, and commented that the Angel Hair pasta with the simple sauce that came with it was perfectly cooked. I ordered Bucatini Al Ricci Di Mare - basically a large helping of mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, and octopus in a light lemon-butter sauce. The description called for sea urchin and Maryland crab meat; neither could be found in the finished dish. It's hard to find octopus around our town, let alone perfectly cooked ones, so that was really pleasing. Portion sizes were large, and worth what we paid. Overall opinion: despite the inaccurate menu description, this is a nice restaurant that we will happily return to. But not tonight: we're really, really full! read more

My family and I stopped in on a cold autumn day, and had an AMAZING time. We had been outside for a while and we're near frozen, but thankfully there were spots near the pizza oven available, and quickly warmed up. Our server, Ahmed, was very attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu, and offered, OFFERED a chiller for our bottle of red wine. Offered, as in, we didn't have to ask for one! My son gave the child's cheese pizza "five stars." My husband and I order the burrata appetizer (with added prosciutto) and a Caesar salad, both of which were great starters, but...the...pasta. I had the fresh papardelle bolognese, while my husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. While we agreed the bolognese was the star, I still can't get over the fact that the spaghetti and meatballs tasted just like my grandma had made it. We will definitely be back. Beautiful place, good attentive service. The food was mediocre for the prices they charge. It won't be in our regular rotation. My dinner was Veal Marsala. It consisted of a tiny portion of veal and a pound of pasta. No marsala wine taste to speak of and only a few mushrooms. Not necessarily bad but not like any marsala I've ever had. read more
