If I could give 0 stars, I would. Do not book an event here. Take a moment to read this: We booked an office party here on 3 December 2016 for the 8th of December (2016) at 8pm EST. We were told that they would take a deposit and if anything should happen, we were required to send them a cancellation notice within 48 hours of the event. Here I am, almost 48 hours before the event, asking for a cancellation. I call Tara (who is wonderful) to let her know the situation and she states that it shouldn't be a problem. She calls the owner (who is in Egypt) and then calls me back to let me know that he meant to tell me that the policy is "48 BUSINESS HOURS" (~7 days). We have not signed any contract whatsoever. How could we possibly know of this policy? Needless to say, we will make this situation known to our network. My suggestions if you are looking for chic banquet rooms and common courtesy: 5 Church, Reid's (their outside patio is wonderful), Sullivan's, Del Frisco's Please note: the staff at the wine loft is incredibly helpful and kind. It's Ok. Just Ok. I've had mixed experiences here. One time the wait staff was so unbelievably rude that I never intended to return. By contrast, I stopped by this past weekend before the evening rush and the staff was very nice. I think that they have improved the quality of their wine over the years. It's decent, but nothing that will blow you away. The small plates that I've had there have been pretty good. And there are a good number of weekly deals. One frustration is that some of the wait staff seem to know Nothing about wine. Literally nothing. For example, I walked in there on a cold, wet winter evening and asked what the most robust red was that they had. The server recommended a pinot noir as the their most robust red, even though the wine list included zins, cabs, and Super Tuscans. She clearly had no knowledge of wine. I enjoy having some eye candy serving me as much as the next guy, but train your staff so that they know the difference between tempranillo and sauvignon blanc. read more

The wine loft is an upscale, sleek, place to have a craft cocktail or glass of wine after a long day. Upon walking in I was mesmerized by the beautiful crystal chandeliers and old Hollywood decor blended with modern elements. It felt cozy yet luxurious. The owner Dan and his staff are warm and inviting not making you feel out of place for walking in after a long hard days work. I was asked what I'd like to drink and after saying "surprise me" the bartender Brandon asked me a couple of questions, after hearing my answers he presented me with one of the tastiest cocktails I've ever had complete with fresh herbs he picked from their patio garden! Their menu is perfectly paired with their craft cocktails and wine. This is an excellent place to bring a first date or a long time friend. You can sit inside among the luxurious decor or outside on their beautiful patio complete with strung lights, spiral topiaries and fragrant herbs and flowers! The music is at a reasonable volume so you don't feel overwhelmed and you can actually have a conversation with the person besidE you. Finally someone got it right! Went here for a birthday party, my husband and I got two mixed drinks and two low end beers and paid $60. Our mixed drinks alone were 20/each which is absurd for house liquor for a negroni and the same thing with bourbon instead of gin. Really enjoyed this wine bar. Came in on a Monday night with a friend and the ambiance is perfect - small, dimmed lighting, and plenty of great seating options ideal for conversation. I also enjoyed the music selection but not sure why they had it so loud, especially since there were only about 8 people in the bar. Fantastic lunch! We came in, greeted and sat immediately. We ordered two small plates as appetizers. We had the fried green tomatoes 3 ways, which was to DIE for!! So delicious, I want to go back just for those. We also had the mussels. They were excellent. They came with a spicy sauce. It was delicious. On to the entrees, my friend ordered a burger which she said was absolutely delicious! I had the margarita flatbread with garlic and chicken added. It was flavorful and delicious. Then, we had dessert. My friend had the crème brûlée which I tried, it was good. I had the molten cake and it was absolutely perfect. Of course we need a nap after all that food but I was incredible. This place is a 5 star place! Best service I got in so long and it was really unexpected. The place was a little hard to find. I found it on Yelp by the way. Once I walked in the Wine aloft I was amazed about the decoration. It's on point! Modern, warm and classy. I went there with coworkers to celebrate my promotion and our experience was nothing short of incredible. The staff was very friendly. They over heard about the special occasion and surprised us with glasses of bubbly wine. That really made the difference. We also had a couple of bottles of wine suggested by the bartender Tara and everything tasted delightful. Tara made our experience particularly more special by being so personable and accommodating. We can not wait to be back. I will definitely recommend this place for anyone trying to have a more private get together in a nice atmosphere. read more

My wife and I went here before hitting the town with some friends the other night. We had some time to kill before meeting with out friends so looked up a wine bar and was brought to this place. We must admit that were were thoroughly impressed. My wife and I did not have any of the food here, but we did think it looked quite nice from what we saw of it, but we did experience the service and the wine. First off, there is one down side to this place potentially, the parking. We did not have any issues finding a spot, but the parking does seem like it is very little considering that they share a lot with at least 2 other restaurants. When we first arrived we were pleasantly greeted by the bartenders that were there. We loved the atmosphere as we came in. The place has lots of couch seating and was very romantically lite. The wife and I started to look for a place to sit because the place was quite crowded, however, one of the bar tenders approached us and asked if we would like to sit at the bar and made room for us to site there. We were then handed menus. After looking at the menu, both my wife and I ordered glasses of wine, she the Tempranillo wine and I the Coastal Vines Cabernet. When the bartender delivered our wines we were both also provided with a glass of water which was quite pleasant since my wife and I like to try each other wines when we get different ones. After we tried each others we both liked our wines but decided that I had selected the superior wine. I high recommend the Coastal Vines now. Through our evening there the service was prompt and we really enjoyed our time at the Wine Loft. I highly suggest it to anyone that loves good wine and great atmosphere. read more

My wife and I, as well as another couple, purchased a Living Social deal for the Wine Loft. Being short of tables, we decided to sit at the bar. We had a nice time, enjoyed a few glasses of wine, as well as some appetizers and light entrees. The nightmare of the evening came when we asked for our checks and tried to use the living social deal. As two couples paying separately AT THE BAR, we naturally assumed that each of us would be able to put our deals towards our checks, both of which approached the $80 mark. The server explained to us that she could not take both because we were a single group. When we asked why, she simply replied "He won't let us," and nodded to the menacing owner sitting at the corner of the bar. We asked to speak with the owner, and she walked over to get him. He came over, and started off the conversation with, "What's the problem, sir?" I politely told him that we were paying separately, and each purchased a Living Social deal. He said there was no way he could take both, because we were a group. I asked him if his goal of putting a Living Social deal out was to drive the business. He replied that he did not want people taking advantage of the business. I told him that we were simply using a coupon that we had already purchased, and that based on the way we were treated, we would never be coming back. His response: "Good. If that's the way you feel, then never come back." Again, this is the OWNER of the business. As a long-time retail manager, if a customer ever had an issue or problem with a service or promotion, I would do whatever it took to take care of them. The owner's tone was incredibly rude and condescending. I'd happily give this restaurant negative five stars if this was an option. Bottom line: the food and drinks were OK, but overpriced for what they were. But based on the hostile atmosphere created by the owner, I refuse to ever spend my hard-earned money here again. The place is very dark and hard to read the menu. Food was disappointing...crowded. The Chaucaterie came with a massive piece of garlic and atypical vegetables. Our group ordered wine both at the table and bar (we had about ten people....) and neither the glass nor the bottle was shown in the wine service...One questions if we got what we ordered. Did afterwork drinks with some friends at WL on a Friday night. It was surprisingly luxurious inside and had a large outdoor seating area as well. I had a couple glasses of sauvignon blanc, a mixed drink and shrimp cocktail which were all just ok. Some folks in my group had the gyro, which they seemed to enjoy. It did appear a little understaffed for a Friday night so service was a little tardy for the party at times. But overall I'd say WL is AOK and probably one of the better date spot options in the area. read more

We came on a Saturday night with my husband. The food was very good. We ordered meat and cheese plate, caprese salad, and mushroom pastry. Portions were not large but bigger than we expected after reading the reviews. We also shared 3 glasses of wine. Our server was very nice and friendly and informative. She was able to make suggestions for us and we were quite pleased with the results. The atmosphere was neat, the place is quite dark but has a middle eastern feel to it. You can sit on the couches or at the bar. The place got quite crowded around 10. We met the owner before we left and it was a very pleasant experience all around. Been here twice and will NOT be returning. The first time was on Valentine's Day, they conveniently decided not to take their Living Social deal on Valentine's Day which was the whole reason my boyfriend and I decided to go there (no where did it say not redeemable on holidays in the fine print of the deal). Still wanting to have a nice, relaxing evening, we decided to stay and have some wine and an appetizer. The baked brie was delicious but it didn't come with nearly enough bread, we asked for more and they charged us .75 extra on our bill without even informing us. First of all, 75 cents? Pathetic. Second of all, just tell us there will be an extra fee. The final time I went there was on a random Friday evening. Still needing to use my Living Social, my boyfriend and I went to have some wine and another appetizer. This time the service was terrible. One of the waitresses told us to wait while she got us a table, so we did and while we were waiting, another couple walked in and took the last open table that we were supposed to sit at. When the waitress came back we told her what happened and she basically said there was nothing she could do. Yes there is something she could've done, she could've apologized, admitted her mistake and given us some sort of compensation. So, we wait and wait for another table to open, my boyfriend goes to get us some menus, the same waitress who screwed us on our table takes our drink order while we wait, leaves, brings another table what they asked for, and asks us AGAIN what we wanted to drink because she failed to remember ours. At this point I want to just walk out and forget about the Living Social, but trying to keep cool we stayed. We finally sit down, have our glasses of wine (1 each) and cheese platter appetizer (we were sure not to ask for more bread this time) and our total was $40. I'm sorry, but for two glasses of wine and a cheese platter, $40 is a bit steep, especially when the service is horrendous. All in all, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS PLACE. On October 18th, I was invited by a couple friends to meet them at the Wine Loft. I frequent the area regularly but never noticed this establishment existed, I was excited to say the least. The decor was superb and I kept raving all night about making this my new hot spot for wine and great company. However my evening was ruined by poor customer service and a distasteful interaction with the owner. Initially when we arrived we were greeted by a lovely young lady who sat us down and took our initial order. Later in the evening we were then serviced by a different server named Rachel while our first server enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio. Rachel seemed disgusted to service our table, as I noticed, she would smile at the other tables and check on them throughout the night yet when she would approach us she would say "what do want". Sadly it gets worst. After a couple drinks, we approached the bar to pay for our tabs. At which my bill came up to $10.82, I payed with a $20.00 but was returned only $9.00. I politely asked Rachel if she was aware she didn't give me my proper change. Her response was, "we don't give loose change back"; I was stunned. She then kept going on with a nasty attitude, "you can speak with the owner because I have no change to give you" "if you think I am lying, you can look for yourself I have no change in my register". Rachel then yells across the room to get the owner's attention, Sam, where things just couldn't get any worst, but it did. The owner approaches and jokingly states "let me guess you didn't like your experience", what a way to start a conversation. I discussed my experience with him and mentioned this was my first time here and I would probably never return. We continued our conversation next to the bar where the owner made unprofessional regards to the situation at hand.... 1. I am the owner of this successful establishment and we have never gotten any complaints on Rachel. 2. I am more of a minority than you are. 3. If you are arguing over .18 cents I can give you your change, actually I can give you 1.00 back if you would like. 4. I think you must not like Rachel and that is the reason why you're making a huge deal over these .18 cents. 5. I am not defending her actions but my staff are trained to provide great customer service. Needless to say, not once did the owner ever apologize for MY experience or even acknowledge MY concern. The point wasn't to make a big deal about .18 cents but lets all do the math, if 100 people came in today and paid cash and weren't given their proper change that would equal $18.00 dollars in someone's pocket; the owner? the server?. If that continues that would mean about $540.00/ a month, $6,480.00/ a year in someone's pocket; the owner? the server?. Sounds like a great side hustle if you ask me. Don't cheat your paying customers! And if the owner was able to give me my .18 cents why couldn't his employees do the same? Unfortunately for the owner, he lost a potential regular because of his choice of words. I am a successful Public Relations expert with strong ties with the Charlotte community. I have never been so disregarded by anyone in a management roll, let alone, an owner. His disrespect and poor training of his employees turned a very excited patron into someone who would never return and make it a point to let all my friends, business colleagues, clients, family, neighbors, and new associates to not support a business that disregards the feelings and experiences of their patrons. Wine/Champagne was amazing, management and service was distasteful, rude, and unprofessional. I hope this review highlights the mishandling of the situation in the owner's part because this is NOT a business I would recommend to anyone. However, I will recommend the owner swallow his pride because he did more damage than his staff that evening, you never know who's who and this could easily turn into a PR crisis. read more
