    Chips and salsa

I'm so glad I discovered this restaurant! I went here on a Saturday with my puppy . We sat on the patio . We were greeted right away . My server Savannah was extremely pleasant, explained their menu and gave recommendations. Omg the elote was ... chefs kiss !!! Every day of the week they offer some sort of special. My quesadilla was flavorful and filling . I love how they make their chips and salsa, it's very unique. The decor here reminds me of Tulum . I cannot wait to return

Wow I cannot recommend this place enough! I visited with my cousin who is a big vegetarian. They had plenty of options for her and were open to adjusting the menu for her preferences. Everything! is made from scratch, authentic, and probably some of the best food in Charlotte. I had the birria tacos that were fantastic! Their complimentary chips and salsa were spectacular (seriously those chips are addictive) and the elote was perfect. I'll def be returning. As mentioned the staff was very accommodating. Everyone was really friendly. We sat outdoors which has a nice layout and fit bit but the indoors was equally beautiful.

Maiz Agua has a lot of open space on the inside and outside to sit with your guest given you options. The decor makes you feel relaxed and compliments the food. Jessica was our server for bunch she started us out with their complimentary chips and salsas, and it came with pickled cauliflower. Yummy! Fresh. I had the hibiscus mimosas it was nice they did have other options, too. They make their corn tortillas in-house, which was really cool to see. The food was really amazing, and the churros with sauce were unique with their own spin. I can't wait to go back.

This was the perfect spot to hang out with friends. I got to have the chicken quesadilla along with the chicken tacos, and I got a mango Mojito. The wait was a little bit long, but the staff tried to do their best to accommodate. They offer free chips and salsa which all orders, which is very delicious. It comes with four different sauces. The chips are freshly baked and I was trying not to overeat them so I won't be too full for my actual meal. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice lunch spot or dinner spot as it's very spacious with a beautiful aesthetic and abundant amount of very tasty options.

Very cute and trendy spot. Met some girlfriends out there for dinner. Free chips and salsa were good. I had the birria tacos, they were good but I've never had a "deconstructed" version lol, I definitely prefer them to come already put together but in any case still were delish. I had horchata for my drink and it was so delish and refreshing.

Delicious huevos rancheros with scrambled eggs

My husband and I have been to MAS twice now--once for an early dinner, and once for brunch. They stand out for their complimentary--and unbelievably delicious--homemade chips and salsas, and their unique take on Mexican food. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but we prefer sitting inside to avoid the sun. (Their outdoor seating area is quite sunny.) The indoor area is spacious and very modern in style. And the music is great! We've tried their guacamole, shrimp and carnitas tacos, chicken flautas, pork tamale, and huevos rancheros. They make their chips and tortillas from scratch, and you can tell! The salsas are delicious--especially their spiciest made one with peanuts. The guacamole is good, too. Their brunch food stands out for its presentation and flavor. My husband and I tried their huevos rancheros--mine scrambled and his fried over-medium--and both were amazing. Their tacos were a bit sparsely filled during our dinner visit, so we probably won't get them again. But their flautas made up for that miss, as did the pork tamale. Service was a bit off on both visits, but we did go during non-rush times when they had fewer wait staff. Once we mentioned to the hostess that we had been waiting for more than 15 minutes on our latest visit, the manager became our server, and she was great! She mentioned they were short a few staff who were out sick, and we appreciated her attention and candor. We love the flavors of their food and will definitely return!

Ambiance is absolutely amazing, very cute and dim. Service was also great, went with a party of 7 and they were very sweet to us. The food was very good, I got the enchiladas and the elote. Unfortunately it was very pricy, but to be expected

This food is simply amazing and instantly reminds me of the bold, fresh flavors you find in California. Everything is made fresh to order, and the masa salsa is an absolute must. Pair it with one of their mimosa specials for the perfect combo. Some of the best tinga, chicken, shrimp, and beef tacos I've ever had hands down. Service is always friendly and willing to walk you through the menu if you have questions even talk to the chef and make those specialty dishes.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Charlotte. Everything here is made with care and packed with flavor. The handmade tortillas are incredible--fresh, soft, and the perfect base for everything on the menu. I ordered the Huarache con Carne Asada and it was outstanding. Came out fast, perfectly cooked, and full of bold, authentic flavor. I also had their cold brew coffee with horchata--such a unique and refreshing combo, highly recommend! The kids went with the chicken flautas and birria--both were a hit and disappeared quickly. On top of the great food, the service was friendly and quick, making the whole experience even better. Can't wait to come back and try more.

A small group of us came late on Sunday and they were so great at accommodating us. They serve brunch until 4pm on Sundays and I was able to order the chilaquiled rojos. The food was affordable and tasty. I especially enjoyed the chips and salsa they provided free of charge which had large chips and 3 different salsa with a side of pickled vegetables. As far as decor, it was absolutely beautiful inside. I especially loved the weaver basket lights. I would love to come back and try their dinner menu.

We tried this spot recently and really enjoyed it. I hadn't heard about it but my boyfriend read about it so we thought we'd try it out. The patio is perfect for cooler nights and it wasn't terribly packed. The inside looked pretty big as well. My boyfriend has the tequila flight and really liked it. I had the Paloma and it was so tasty! I didn't taste much alcohol which could be a good or bad thing ha. The food was also delicious. I loved all the hot sauces they offer with chips. The quesadilla was also tasty. We will definitely be back.

Always come here for the $6 margs on Wednesday. Got the Pozole Rojo, it's delicious. The perfect amount food, plus the lime wedge comes with Tajin on it. Will definitely get this again for $13.

First visit. Loved the spot. Super chill with a great patio. It wasn't super busy so we were immediately sat. We were greeted by the manager who gave us the back story of the place from the house-made heirloom corn tortillas pressed daily from a machine imported from Mexico and scratch made recipes that have been passed down. We had the free chips and salsa, elote, pork tacos and the special of the day build your own birria. The elote was the best I've ever had and I typically try it every where we go. Chips and salsa came with 4 salsas, the peanut was my favorite. On Thursdays all the tortillas are blue which was fun. My pork taco was packed full of meat and was super filling for one taco. My boyfriend like the birria as well. We will definitely be back!

Not great, it was dead there, yet we couldn't get a reservation later than 3:45. Dumb. Super salty shredded beef. It was just marginal.

Tacos El Nevado came highly recommended, so I headed over for lunch with high hopes. The restaurant was packed when I arrived around 1:30 p.m., which is usually a good sign. It appears to be a converted fast-food building with its own parking lot, outdoor patio, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Despite the Charlotte heat pushing triple digits, the dining room was comfortable and bustling. Service was friendly from the start, and I was quickly seated with ice water, lemon, fresh chips, and three house-made salsas. The chips were excellent--fresh, crisp, and clearly made in-house. The standout salsa for me was the red salsa, which packed plenty of heat and flavor. There was also a tomatillo salsa and a creamy green avocado-style salsa. Both were good, although the tomatillo leaned a little too tart for my taste. The menu is extensive, with everything from seafood dishes and quesadillas to tacos and larger combination plates. As someone who loves sampling a little of everything, I was hoping for more traditional combo options, but this menu takes a different approach. I ordered the crispy taco plate with rice and beans. The presentation was attractive, with the tacos served upright in a metal rack alongside refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice and beans were both delicious and easily the highlight of the plate. Where things got mixed for me was the taco filling. I was expecting a straightforward seasoned ground beef taco, but the beef filling tasted more like a guisado-style preparation with a softer texture and a slightly tangy flavor profile. It may simply be a regional style or a misunderstanding when ordering, but it wasn't what I had anticipated. The chicken taco, however, was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and clearly made with higher-quality chicken than you typically find in a crispy taco. After trying it, I immediately wished I had ordered all chicken. While this visit didn't completely win me over, I don't think it's fair to judge a restaurant by one dish. The packed dining room, friendly service, fresh chips, excellent salsas, and strong chicken taco all suggest there's more to explore here. Next time, I'd skip the crispy beef tacos and dive into the street tacos or some of the house specialties that seem to be what many regulars were ordering. Tacos El Nevado didn't become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte on this visit, but it earned a second chance. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Keep exploring. Sometimes the next great meal is just one menu item away.

We got two Burrito Fresas (one grilled chicken and one chicken tinga). The burritos had the COOLEST crunchy cheese coating on the tortilla that the hugs all of the ingredients inside the burrito. Both the grilled chicken and the chicken tinga were phenomenal. We truly could not decide who the "winner" was because they were both so flavorful. Now, to talk about the other fun part!!! SORBET MARGARITAS! I'm obsessed. I had initially seen Que Fresca on social media, specifically for the soft serve margs. And let me tell you - they did nit disappoint. They have two flavors - strawberry and lemon (and then you can do a swirl). They were SO refreshing and delightful!! It was such a fun way to ~eat~ a margarita! The idea is that place your order, pick a seat and your order is delivered to you. We picked our seats at the bar first because it was pretty packed for Friday night. We took our time to browse the menu but we knew we'd be getting the IG viral Sorbet flights we'd seen. Now on first attempt we got our food, it was completely cold. We informed one of the waiters and asked for our meals to be remade. So upon getting my food second time: 1 Birria Taco, 1 Chips and Queso and 1 Chicken Tinga, it was warm. The Birria taco was my favorite as the chicken didn't hold too much flavor for me. Now we ordered 2 Sorbet flights. We didn't get them as advertised.. no rim coating and the flavor offerings were duplicated. As we compared what we got from other patrons we saw what was missing and the flavor differences. Overall our meal and drinks were underwhelming and we let the staff and manager on hand know. She apologized for not making our Sorbets with rim coating and the food mishap. As guest of NC for the weekend, our host told us we'd gone to the wrong location.
