The sun was going down so we chose to eat outside. Our server was great. I forget his name, Hispanic, gage earrings, dark hair. Between him and the manager we got the full run down of the different dishes, customer favorites and how things were made. They both checked in on us often throughout the meal. For food we ordered the ceviche, elote and a couple drinks to start. The complimentary chips and salsa trio were so fresh and delicious and went well with our apps. For dinner, my gf got two of the tacos and I ordered a chicken tinga dish served on a blue corn tortilla and topped with queso. No crumbs were left behind. Came here on a Saturday night for dinner, and we were served by Savannah, who was a delight. She was funny, gave good recs and provided prompt service. They weren't very busy, only 4 other tables, so the timing of the food was perfect. The ambiance is clean and modern. Very aesthetically pleasing. We ordered the passionfruit margaritas and guacamole to start. The margaritas were delicious and became my go-to drink for the night. The guacamole was also delicious. Super flavorful and so generous in portion that we needed more chips to finish it. For entrees, we got the flautas de tinga, taco de trompa, taco de lengua and taco de carnitas. I'm trying to love this place but these prices and portion sizes aren't doing it for me. Stopped back again on a Tuesday for a friendsfriend's birthday. The mas marg was $14. It's just not worth it to me. Is a good yes but not worth it and no Tuesday night during specials. I got the three tacos for $10 and they were not good. The tortillas were dry and hard. The meat was dry. Some other friends needed some sauce for theirs. Since there was eight of us, we ordered an extra round of chips and salsa (which I love the homemade chips and all the sauces), and we were charged for it, plus extra sauce for the tacos and we were charged for it. I think everyone that got the tacos were dissatisfied with them. Apparently there's house margaritas, but it's not on the menu, but they are on special on Wednesdays...? I want to love this place and they have a great patio but when you're automatically highlighting the 22% box on the checkout screen with one server for the night and these prices, it's not gonna happen. Wow I cannot recommend this place enough! I visited with my cousin who is a big vegetarian. They had plenty of options for her and were open to adjusting the menu for her preferences. Everything! is made from scratch, authentic, and probably some of the best food in Charlotte. I had the birria tacos that were fantastic! This was the perfect spot to hang out with friends. I got to have the chicken quesadilla along with the chicken tacos, and I got a mango Mojito. The wait was a little bit long, but the staff tried to do their best to accommodate. They offer free chips and salsa which all orders, which is very delicious. It comes with four different sauces. My husband and I have been to MAS twice now--once for an early dinner, and once for brunch. They stand out for their complimentary--and unbelievably delicious--homemade chips and salsas, and their unique take on Mexican food. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but we prefer sitting inside to avoid the sun. (Their outdoor seating area is quite sunny.) The indoor area is spacious and very modern in style. And the music is great! We've tried their guacamole, shrimp and carnitas tacos, chicken flautas, pork tamale, and huevos rancheros. They make their chips and tortillas from scratch, and you can tell! The salsas are delicious--especially their spiciest made one with peanuts. The guacamole is good, too. Their brunch food stands out for its presentation and flavor. My husband and I tried their huevos rancheros--mine scrambled and his fried over-medium--and both were amazing. Their tacos were a bit sparsely filled during our dinner visit, so we probably won't get them again. But their flautas made up for that miss, as did the pork tamale. Service was a bit off on both visits, but we did go during non-rush times when they had fewer wait staff. Once we mentioned to the hostess that we had been waiting for more than 15 minutes on our latest visit, the manager became our server, and she was great! Ordered 3 Chicken Quesadillas to to-go. Got in the car passed them out and there was a sliver of radish and a quarter of lime. I was confused as there was no condiments in the bag. The handmade tortillas are incredible--fresh, soft, and the perfect base for everything on the menu. I ordered the Huarache con Carne Asada and it was outstanding. Came out fast, perfectly cooked, and full of bold, authentic flavor. I also had their cold brew coffee with horchata--such a unique and refreshing combo, highly recommend! First of all, the space is beautiful - lots of natural light, greenery, and earthen materials. The outdoor area has fans and heaters. It's covered by a clear material so you're protected from the rain but nothing to shade you from the sun. This was a nonissue at 7pm, but could be a problem midday. Our server (Lee?) did an excellent job explaining the menu to us. He noted that everything is made in house and the cuisine is specific to a region in southern Mexico where the chef is from. I love a good origin story and the authenticity really came through in the flavors of the food. I started with a horchata, which was sweet and refreshing. I enjoyed it with the complimentary blue corn tortilla chips. We then split the elote, carnitas, and steak quesadilla for our meal. The elote was my favorite. It had a spicy kick to it and pairs well with almost anything on the menu. The carnitas is a huge serving. If you get it with tortillas you can fill at least five tacos. The quesadilla is very good, but it needed something to cut through the richness. That was easily fixed by dipping it in the complimentary salsas that came with the chips. We were greeted by the manager who gave us the back story of the place from the house-made heirloom corn tortillas pressed daily from a machine imported from Mexico and scratch made recipes that have been passed down. They told us they couldn't give us a reservation but that they would put our name on the wait list and we would be good after 8pm.
