I must say i was pleasantly surprised when I stopped into The Wine Press on Beacon Street this past week! Having been there before, I was shocked to see the complete transformation the store has undergone. Not only do you enter a sparkling clean store where someone greets you right away BUT the prices have actually been LOWERED! A once pricy, dirty liquor store has revamped itself in all the right ways. Great staff, Amazing prices and an outstanding inventory! This remarkable transformation must have come with new management, all I can say is that I will be frequenting The Wine Press for all of my beer and liquor needs! read more

I like this place. It's the closest too me and a little expensive but it's fine. They have a little bit of everything which is perfect, it's all you need. I was a little annoyed on nye i had to work and called at 9 and was told they close in 72 minutes. So since I live about two minutes away i ran over to find the employee who i have seen working there before Leaving with his friends! It seemed like he closed after he hung up the phone with me. I understand it was nye but still, don't lie to me. I got out of work early and decided I wanted a little champagne and was disappointed that I couldn't. read more

Cara P. You must have either had a much different experience or you are the counter girl at wine press. I go to wine press around 3 times a week and agree with the other reviews. The beer selection is small but diverse, however expensive. They have a few sales on beer which seem to never change. They have a great wine selection but not great enough to make up for the service. Would it kill them to smile? I am a younger customer and am definitely treated as such. They assume I am coming in for cheap 30 racks and have a fake ID. It is almost worth it to walk to Wine Cellar or the liquor store at coolidge corner next to boca grande. It is very similar to Wine Press. A little smaller but the staff is great! and always friendly. Never felt like I was being judged or treated different because of my age. Overall a store to use because of convenience but I cant imagine they have too many regulars that show any loyalty. below average store at best. read more

The "new" Wine Press is definitely worth heading into. I used to only stop in out of need but with the bigger selection, helpful staff, reasonable pricing and overall ease of shopping... I will definitely be making this my go to spot! Even the beer selection is great! read more

I just bought bad beer here for the last time. Their beer must be sitting on the shelves forever because every time I go there the beer is passed the expiration date. I agree with most of the negative comments regarding the Wine Press already here. They're overpriced, the staff is unhelpful, and the "middle-aged woman" manager or owner mentioned below is most certainly very unfriendly. From now on I'm going to the place across from the Shaw's by the Land mark Center; the staff is much friendlier and the beer is fresh. Do yourself and everyone else in the area a favor and avoid this place. Hopefully then it'll go out of business. read more

Honestly it is a great staff that has great prices. They just do not have as many wine coolers and separate canned choices as I would have wanted. But it is a very clean and reputable store. The staff is down to earth and laid back. The alcohol is priced competitively, I do not have many complaints with this store other than the fact they do not carry canned twisted teas which are my absolute favorite. It is in a great location with tons of on street and off street parking and one of the only liquor stores on that part of Beacon street. I go there probably two times a week and I am always greeted with a smile, I just hope they get more canned choices eventually. read more

Honestly, an unpleasant experience all around. Astronomical prices, rude employees, and poor labeling. I do enjoy their selection of beers...right up my alley...but none of them have prices on them so you have to guess what might be cheap...and it tends not to be. You can expect to pay AT LEAST $19 for a 12-pack. They keep a list behind the counter of prices as well as discounts on certain varieties, but don't seem to find that important to the customers decision. On top of that, every time I go to buy liquor a rather pushy senior insists that he knows what I want more than I do myself...literally pulling bottles out of your hand and INSISTING. Talk about unpleasant, typically leaves me feeling like I should have just walked out of the place without buying anything. And trust me, I would walk out and never go back, but there is no where else nearby...been making the walk out to Trader Joe's lately to get a great deal on beer and wine. read more

The closest liquor store to the Boston University campus, this place can afford to be unaffordble. They know they are often the only option for an insatiable customer base so they charge way more than anything else close and they don't care to bring in a very good selection. Plus, they're so paranoid about getting duped by a fake ID, they always ask for backup and sometimes even mistake a real driver's license for a fake. read more

PRICE GOUGING AT IT FINEST!!!! Wine selection seems good at first until you go back and can't ever find the same wine again. A few staff members are ok. but most know absolutely nothing about wine and I have actually been insulted by a couple of the younger male staff members. I only go back because I live next door. After going in tonight and seeing that the price of a litre of Baileys has went from 25.99 to 29.99 in less than 4 months, I realize it is worth my while to get in my car and go elsewnere!!!Stores like this are why we have New Hampshire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 read more

The new owner is knowledgeable about the wine they carry, and can be found walking around the store, eager to make recommendations. One of the worst liquor stores I have been to. Incredibly high prices (some of the same stuff as Best Cellars down the street, but 50% more). Staff is not knowledgeable about their products or policies. Be prepared to have I.D. issues if you have an out-of-state license. One employee may accept it with no back up one day, the next visit you may be refused service (even with back up or a U.S. passport). It is worth your while to head up the street to Coolidge Corner. I gave this place a chance, but I will not be going back there again. read more

Under new management the Wine Press has been totally transformed. The place is clean, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. But most importantly, the selection is really good, especially in wine and (my favorite) craft beer. I highly recommend the "new" Wine Press. read more

This is my go-to beer store. I don't really buy wine so this is only about their beer selection. They have great craft singles, including a large selection of Maine Beer Company, and a decent choice of six packs. This place is right next to my apartment so that definitely influences my favorable opinion, but the staff is friendly and selection is pretty good so I can't complain. read more
