as other reviews said, no this is not somewhere to get a whole load of advice, go to a wine bar or a resturant for that. this is more of a werehouse kinda place. go here if you want a good selection of wine and some good deals. i've gotten amazine wine here for good prices. also, although the staff might not be helpfull ( idk, i've never asked them for advice) at the front of the store there are a bunch of featured wines with reviews and their ratings. there are some great wines featured in all different price ranges. i've found some small name wines in this section that i couldn't get enough of. they have all the big napa, sonoma names too, prices are typical for these. they also have other kinds of liquor at not bad prices. read more

Man, I pay $120 for a bottle of Tequila from these guys and they take it out of the box before they ship it to me! Can you believe these guys? They even use the box to sell the tequila by mentioning its collectability and uniqueness of the box it comes in, and then they keep the box?? What are you guys doing with them all? An awe inspiring collection of wine here greets you with a decent, uninspired collection of spirits to back it up. There's a selection of older wines which is cool, not so cool, the ghetto interior (is this a portal out of burlingame into redwood city or something), and definitely not cool is the temperature: it's like 80 degrees in there. isn't that supposed to be bad for the vino? at any rate, prices are right, parking's plenty and I've gotten some pretty good wine there so far. Family business that has been here for decades, and they aim to please. Great selection and great knowledge, and if you give them a sense for what you like they will have numerous suggestions for wines you may not have heard of that fit what you are looking for perfectly. Prices are reasonable including on higher end wines where other wine shops gouge a bit more. International wines from more than just France and Italy are also part of the equation, and the staff knowledge extends to those as well. Excellent prices and speedy service (with a few minor glitches). A wonderful selection of wines and spirits, second only to K&L, and about 20% cheaper all around. I love K&L - it's only a block from my workplace down at 4th and Bluxome in San Francisco, but the prices are normal retail. The Wine Stop beats them AND BevMo for the finer wines and spirits. We are big fans of The Wine Stop and find the wine recommendations from the owners to be spot on. They've introduced us to so many great wines at different price points. They remember our preferences and are always quick to make new suggestions, often recommending things that are less expensive. Their Friday night wine tastings are an incredible deal and a lot of fun. We buy almost all of our wine here and I highly recommend you stop by and discover something new. Zero customer service. Do not order anything from this store online. I never received an order that according to FedEx was delivered and signed for. In order to file a claim with FedEx I needed a Photocopy of FedEx Airbill and / or FedEx Ship Manager printout and / or FedEx Ground Pick-up Record. Attempted to contact the Wine Stop multiple times for the information both via email and the "contact us" form on the website. I received ZERO responses. I am assuming the Wine Stop must have put the wrong address on my package and doesn't want to acknowledge their error, but since they refuse to respond to my inquiries, I guess I'll never know. We were specifically looking for the 2013 vintage of a wine which their site said they had. We placed the order and it was confirmed for four bottles of 2013. However, when my son picked it up and brought it back to our house, it was all 2014. I called the store and it turns out the wine is shipped from some distributor and they will substitute a different year without informing you. Every time I come in here it's always the same story; uncomfortable gazes from the gentlemen at the register while I casually pick out a few bottles of wine. Now I'll admit, it can be argued that I barely look a day over 21 (good genes), but other than that I can't understand why I would be made to feel like a suspicious customer. The mail order service for liquor is a disaster. I placed my order mid-September. The company promptly charged my card for the liquor and included a very high shipping fee for mailing to Texas. I received notice that my order was received and being processed. Four weeks later I checked the system and saw my order was being processed. I finally was able to get through to the company after several tries since the customer service number on the site is wrong. The young man told me they would ship the order in 3 days and it was in the warehouse. Four weeks later still no liquor. I called back and explained I was ready to dilute the charge since I had not received the liquor. The young man told me it was in the warehouse and he would ship it the next day and send me the shipment tracking information. Well one week later and still no tracking information. FedEx then attempted delivery and left me a notification. Given the delays and the poor quality of service I will not order from this company again. read more
