Sometimes you just want to leisurely stroll along the Ave with a hot beverage but didn't want coffee. Trad was my answer on a fine June day. It's a small space, decor was clean, light, bright and minimal. They have hot broth on tap that you can order by the cup, or supply your own quart size container. There are a few choices for noodle soup by the bowl. It's a bit spendy but it's very tasty and probably worth it to treat myself with every now and then. read more

I was curious to see broths in a to go drink style. I've always loved drinking bone broth since it has many benefits to it so I thought I'd give it a try. What intrigued me more was the iced matcha bone broth. It was also suggested by one of the workers. To be honest, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. It was definitely very different since when I think of matcha it's more of a sweeter earthier drink, and bone broth is savory. It definitely had great flavor in terms of bone broth characteristics with a hint of a milky matcha flavor. I did see someone else order the tom kha broth which would've been my second option. I got the sweet serenity broth quart drink and the chicken wild rice and it was both delicious. The chicken wild rice soup was also a little salty for my liking. The broth has been brewed for 24 hours and they have different flavors like just plain beef, chicken to more interesting ones like kimchi, tom kha, and even some sweet options - chai. Ofc all the scum is removed. We've been here twice and enjoy trying the different flavors! The chicken is rly good - its the base for impurities which is one of our favorite as long as kimchi. It is healthy and so it is slightly bland. Hoping for just a bit more spice to make it even more delicious. Its a grab and go place, no space to sit. Trad has been on my list forever and I was so excited that they opened a location closer to me. They have a selection of broth bases -- chicken, beef, korean white broth (like seolleongtang), and a vegetable seaweed that can be ordered alone or they have specialty savory and sweet drinks made with the different broths. The tom kha sounded intriguing but i kind of wanted something sweet. The staff was super helpful and let me sample the broth bases. I landed on the matcha broth since they said it was their most popular, made with the seoul broth, coconut milk, honey, and vanilla. It ended up tasting more like coconut than matcha and wasn't overly sweet, strange at first but it really grew on me. Can't wait to try their savory drinks next time. read more

This rating is particularly for the service I received today 6/24 around 3pm. I am a new customer to Trad (my first time was last week and I've been back 5x since-- so you know I really like this place). Every time I walk in I'm very happily greeted by Skylar at the front, and the drink she makes is always 11/10. Today was the opposite experience. I was completely ignored when I walked in, which I typically don't mind when a store is busy, but there was only 1 customer inside! And although the customer in front of me had a special request for all her drinks so it took longer to process, even after payment was made, the guy at the counter continued a prolonged conversation with the customer without acknowledging me at all. I had to wait for him to finally make eye contact with me for him to say "hello", and then I HAD TO ASK TO ORDER-- I probably reminded him he was supposed to be working??? Additionally, there's inconsistency in the taste of my orders today. Typically Skylar makes them perfect (she's the only one in there whenever I've gone prior), but today the drinks were particularly bitter. I'm upset I was ignored, had to ask if I can spend $40, and the drinks aren't even yummy. Customer service and taste consistency could definitely use training-- because now I'll have to be wary of who is making my drink and if it will taste the same. read more

Honestly, was pretty skeptical about a business model that focuses primarily on bone broth. Consider me a convert. Not only are the plain broths amazing, but the added nutrient drinks and soups are delicious as well. Sometimes this is just what you need when you want something light, healthy, and tasty. I've been looking forward to their opening since seeing them start construction. I really enjoyed Brodo and Springbone in NYC and was looking forward to a broth shop opening near me. - broth is OK, not as hearty as other options I've had - significantly more expensive than their NYC counterparts - broth has a slight/subtle plasticky taste, which is unpleasant when you notice it - bad cups/lids make the bone broth spill over the side where the cup meets the lid when driving or walking - no for-here option to be served with non-plastic drinkware - no indoor or outdoor seating, it's just a grab-and-go spot -- I hope this is not a trend since it would be a shame to see lively Burlingame Ave butchered by a bunch of grab-and-go spots I was hoping for almost a hot-coffee replacement and to be able to frequently replace my Philz or Goodthing stops with Trad Bone Broth, but I don't think this is it. I would personally come back on a cold day, or if I have a broth craving and don't want to make it myself; however, I would likely not suggest the spot to friends who are NOT already especially fond of bone broth. read more
