I love soup so I was incredibly excited try Trad Bone Broth ever since I found out they opened a location in Burlingame downtown! The shop is clean and tastefully designed! I tried the matcha (cold) and tom kha broth (hot). The matcha broth tasted very much just like matcha soy milk. I don't think I would get this again, BUT the tom kha broth was nice. I guess maybe I just like my broth warm/hot after all. How cool is this! I've never been to a bone broth bar before.. ever! This is really unique and definitely one of the best places I've been to this year. What a surprise. I came during opening hours last Wednesday and ordered their immunity broth which is chicken broth base, ginger, black pepper, turmeric, and ginseng. It literally tastes like Filipino arroz caldo which is amazing. It's so delicious and I can literally pour this over rice to eat. I sampled each broth and each one is tasty and very good. Sometimes you just want to leisurely stroll along the Ave with a hot beverage but didn't want coffee. Trad was my answer on a fine June day. It's a small space, decor was clean, light, bright and minimal. They have hot broth on tap that you can order by the cup, or supply your own quart size container. Trad Bone is one of those places that makes you stop and think, "Why haven't I seen this concept before?" A shop dedicated to fresh bone broth is definitely something unique, and after my first visit, I can see why it has a following. I ordered the Beauty Broth, and it was surprisingly refreshing. The rosemary and lemon complemented the broth beautifully, giving it a light, bright flavor that felt comforting without being overly rich. It was delicious, and I'd happily order it again. My wife went with the iced Matcha Broth, and that was equally impressive. The matcha flavor came through nicely without being bitter, and the coconut milk gave it a creamy texture that paired perfectly with the green tea. It was smooth, refreshing, and unlike anything we've tried before. The only downside is the price. Two 12 ounce drinks came out to about $22 before tax and tip, which is a tough pill to swallow for what amounts to two fairly small beverages. The quality is definitely there, but it feels more like an occasional treat than something I'd stop in for regularly. The broth has been brewed for 24 hours and they have different flavors like just plain beef, chicken to more interesting ones like kimchi, tom kha, and even some sweet options - chai. Ofc all the scum is removed. We've been here twice and enjoy trying the different flavors! The chicken is rly good - its the base for impurities which is one of our favorite as long as kimchi. Trad has been on my list forever and I was so excited that they opened a location closer to me. They have a selection of broth bases -- chicken, beef, korean white broth (like seolleongtang), and a vegetable seaweed that can be ordered alone or they have specialty savory and sweet drinks made with the different broths. The tom kha sounded intriguing but i kind of wanted something sweet. The staff was super helpful and let me sample the broth bases. I landed on the matcha broth since they said it was their most popular, made with the seoul broth, coconut milk, honey, and vanilla. It ended up tasting more like coconut than matcha and wasn't overly sweet, strange at first but it really grew on me. Can't wait to try their savory drinks next time. read more

I am a new customer to Trad (my first time was last week and I've been back 5x since-- so you know I really like this place). Every time I walk in I'm very happily greeted by Skylar at the front, and the drink she makes is always 11/10. Today was the opposite experience. I was completely ignored when I walked in, which I typically don't mind when a store is busy, but there was only 1 customer inside! And although the customer in front of me had a special request for all her drinks so it took longer to process, even after payment was made, the guy at the counter continued a prolonged conversation with the customer without acknowledging me at all. I had to wait for him to finally make eye contact with me for him to say "hello", and then I HAD TO ASK TO ORDER-- I probably reminded him he was supposed to be working??? Additionally, there's inconsistency in the taste of my orders today. Typically Skylar makes them perfect (she's the only one in there whenever I've gone prior), but today the drinks were particularly bitter. I'm upset I was ignored, had to ask if I can spend $40, and the drinks aren't even yummy. I really enjoyed Brodo and Springbone in NYC and was looking forward to a broth shop opening near me. - broth is OK, not as hearty as other options I've had - significantly more expensive than their NYC counterparts - broth has a slight/subtle plasticky taste, which is unpleasant when you notice it - bad cups/lids make the bone broth spill over the side where the cup meets the lid when driving or walking - no for-here option to be served with non-plastic drinkware - no indoor or outdoor seating, it's just a grab-and-go spot -- I hope this is not a trend since it would be a shame to see lively Burlingame Ave butchered by a bunch of grab-and-go spots I was hoping for almost a hot-coffee replacement and to be able to frequently replace my Philz or Goodthing stops with Trad Bone Broth, but I don't think this is it.
