Lately, I've been getting home much later than usual, and finding something satisfying to eat after a long day has become a challenge. Most places are already closed, and the few that are open are usually spots I've either had too many times or simply don't sound appealing in the moment. I ordered the BBQ beef bánh mì and a few cake donuts, not expecting much beyond convenience. Instead, I found myself wondering why it took me this long to try it. The bánh mì was genuinely impressive. The bread had the perfect texture, the beef was flavorful and generously portioned, and it was loaded with fresh herbs, crisp pickled carrots and daikon radish, and slices of jalapeño that added just the right amount of heat. What really brought everything together was the balance of the spread--just enough mayo and pâté to add richness without overpowering the freshness of the sandwich. Every bite had the perfect combination of savory, tangy, spicy, and fresh. As for the donuts, the cake donuts were incredibly fresh, especially considering I ordered close to midnight. They had that true cake-like texture without being overwhelmingly sweet. I usually scrape a little of the icing off any donut I eat, but that's just personal preference. For anyone familiar with the Peninsula, I've had my fair share of donuts from places like Royal Pin and other local shops. But this unexpected stop turned into one of the best late-night meals I've had in a long time. Their donut selection is top tier, and they have also branched out to Vietnamese cuisines, offering Bahn Mi sandwiches and various milk tea options in addition to vietnamese coffee (I was a bit disappointed with how watered down the coffee was on initial taste). Service is quick and efficient and the store is designed more as a grab-and-go with only a few table seating options. The donut shop surprised me! I came for the Dubai chocolate donut and didn't realize they offer so much more! Parking isn't too hard, it's surrounded by parking and has dedicated spots just for their place. I ordered a Dubai chocolate donut, raised glaze, maple old fashion, and cheddar jalapeño bagel dog. The only critique I have is for the maple old fashion that definitely needs a stronger maple flavor. Everything else I got I definitely would come back for, especially the Dubai chocolate donut! Definitely a hole-in-the-wall gem! I heard about this place from some friends as well as saw that they had Dubai Chocolate inspired donuts so my husband and I decided to check it out while we were in Burlingame. We parked in one of the designated parking spots for the shop, but there's plenty of parking around the area in case those spots are all filled. Walking in it's definitely a no-frills type of donut shop but it's still very clean. On a Saturday around 12:30pm they still had plenty of options and we had to let a few parties order before us since we couldn't decide on what we wanted! We finally settled on a classic glazed donut, Dubai chocolate donut, maple old fashioned, and a jalapeño bagel dog. Hands down everything was SO good. I'm a classic glazed raised donut type of gal and it literally tasted like Krispy Kreme but better because you get more dough instead of air, but it's still super soft and fluffy! The Dubai chocolate donut was also delicious - they stuff it with the knafeh and pistachio mix so it's very rich with flavor but not too too sweet. They had a steady flow of customers even after we ordered which solidified that this place was most likely a neighborhood fave. I may or may not have been taking notes so I know what to order for next time ;) For sure I would love to try one of their banh mi sandwiches - they looked reasonably priced and from the number of people ordering them they must be good too! Bought a box of donuts from Royal Donut Shop recently and we loved it! The apple fritter was delicious, moist, and huge. The maple bar donut was also a favorite of ours and wasn't overly sweet. The donuts were all fresh with a fluffy interior. They were carefully packed in the box and taped up for safety. Parking can be tough on this main street in Burlingame but directly across the street are a few 24-minute parking spaces with cars coming and going the entire time. My bf and I were staying around the area to head into the the city the next morning. Late at night, we wanted a snack and after looking around, came across Royal Donut Shop. I wanted milk tea and this had donuts and milk tea - so we decided to come try it out. I ended up ordering a thai milk tea and a custard donut while my bf got a strawberry green tea and a cronut. He was so happy with the cronut as he hasn't had it in a very long time. I took a bite and it was yummy. The strawberry green tea was good, but I usually prefer black tea. My thai tea ended up being too sweet and the custard donut was good, but too big for me to finish. Customer service was great - the gentlemen helping us was patient while we looked over what we wanted. There were a few things I had questions about and he took the time to answer them before I made my selection. The shop was on the small side, but had a good amount of seating inside and plenty of spots outside. There is a huge parking lot right outside that I am sure is used by many of the businesses around there. There was also a very good selection of donuts, drinks and sandwiches. The filling was all about crunchy texture but there was no discernible pistachio flavor. In the end, it's just a plain raised round chocolate covered donut sliced open and stuffed with crunchy/creamy sweet but flavorless filling.
