What an amazing place! The ambiance, the quality of the fish board, the scallops, and the dessert were all just delicious and top quality. Josh and his wife know what they are doing! This place is a perfect date night spot! Josh's knowledge of everything we had was top notch. He was very attentive to what we requested.

I've been meaning to try this place for a few years and I'm so disappointed in myself for not getting there sooner. It is wonderful. Highly recommend reservations. The ambience was great, the service was wonderful, the food was even better. The wine selection is reasonable in terms of quality and price. We had sangria's that were fresh made and delicious. We started with the lobster bisque soup and also got scallops with lobster, an upgrade suggested by James, as well as the special menu item lobster roll with fries and truffle aïoli. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and while this place is small, hence the reservation recommendation, don't let it fool you, this place is amazing. They do have a tent outback with additional tables that has heat and a fan, and I imagine that it will be reasonably comfortable during the summer as well. We will definitely be returning to the wine vault.

Visited here for the first time last night. Beautiful bar with a great outdoor patio. We were immediately greeted and felt very welcomed. The menu is fantastic and creative. Our server was attentive and made great recommendations. We started with the fish charcuterie board which included salmon, ahi, and oysters. My husband had the short rib burger and I ordered the beet and arugula salad. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. Can't wait for our next visit!

Very quaint and inviting atmosphere. Somewhat upscale but not intimidating. The staff there was very friendly and the food looks great too.

Best place in Vermilion. I kind of want to write a bad review only so it doesn't get so busy we can't get a table.

CHEZ Francois - Vermilion…read more Our weekend experience along Lake Erie brought to mind several very nice dining experiences at CHEZ Francois - Vermilion. We fully endorse the dress code and expect other fine dining establishments to embrace: Gentlemen, Jackets Please "Recent phone call: She then asked if we ever have problems with customers and the dress code. I told her about a young lady who came in wearing flip-flops accompanied by her parents. We also felt her jean skirt and a tank top were inappropriate in our indoor dining room and disrespectful to our other diners. When I confronted her about her casual attires she began to cry and explained that it was her parents wedding anniversary. I relented and allowed them to sit in the dining room. I explained to the PD writer that occasionally circumstances dictate that we give the benefit of the doubt to avoid an embarrassing confrontation." We have excellent memories of Dayton and Cincinnati dining history which offered more than several fine dining experiences. We deplore the current practice of casualness and the proliferation of Sports Bars. We have delighted in several evenings of dining at CHEZ Francois - Vermilion. Plateau de Fromages for Two, Montrachet Goat, St. Angel, English Stilton and Èpoisses, dates, Membrillo (quince paste) and almond/fig cake. In our view it is well worth planning a trip to Lake Erie to enjoy CHEZ Francois.

One sweet, which I don't care for sweet wines, the second, which I chose was lacking flavor. No body to the wine. Very disappointing. My wife tried 2 whites, she didn't care for either. They did not have a chardonnay or anything close. The traditional cheese tray was obviously pre- cubed cheeses, some plain soda crackers and a half a peach. I asked about getting a half order or the "gourmet " cheese tray but the server said they don't offer it because everything is pre-proportioned, which leads me to believe it's from Costco or the like. All in all pretty disappointing. Ww love stopping at wineries but unless friends want to go, ill avoid this one. We have frequented the orchard store for decades but even that has gotten so expensive we have cut back.

With a vineyard, fruit tree orchard, full kitchen, gift shop and the most excellent donut truck, this place rocks! The main attraction is a beautifully decorated chalet. Did a flight of every wine they had. Ended up loving three of them, including the Chardonnay, Bourbon Barrel Aged Apple wine, and the Pinnacle Rrd. Got a bottle of Chardonnay for the table and took the other two home. Service was crazy good. Brooke was attentive, quick, and had the nicest smile you've ever seen. She should be on the silver screen! Super friendly, the manager, I think her name was Emily, sat down at our table and exquisitely described each wine while we sampled the precious nectars. The owner also stopped by and explained how he's the third generation of Scottish immigrants growing up on the land we sit on, where his great great grandfather planted the pear trees still producing fruit today. Seeing that this was Mother's Day, they went over the top with a free bouquet of flowers for the moms in our family. Tried the donuts and thought I was going to heaven. Can't wait to stumble across this place again!
