Third time at Thyme Table! Came back because we were in the area going to Cedar Point. This is probably the best restaurant in the area. All the food is super inventive and flavorful. They also usually have a very unique cocktail menu, but this time they didn't have one which was disappointing. They just had their regular cocktail/drink menu, but we still really enjoyed our cocktails. To start we got the hummus and rosemary focaccia. The focaccia was sooo soft and delicious. I especially loved the whipped fig honey butter. For my entree, I got the Thai spicy chicken sandwich and it was sooo good. I wanted to finish it but I think I filled up on too much bread lol. I felt like the fries didn't really add anything to it and were a bit plain and meh. I liked the fingerling potatoes a lot more. Their desserts are amazing. I recommend having a reservation. The place was packed. The ambiance is nice and cozy. The appetizers were so so. I was looking forward to having calamari and was pretty disappointed as it was not as good as we hoped it would be. The beet salad was dry. We did enjoy the braised beef sandwich with fries and the brussels sprouts were really really good. I had an uncertain feeling about this place as soon as certain coworkers absolutely raved about it. I also have high expectations for places that are known for small but pricey plates. They have a very small space to begin with and a cramped setting. I called just a few minutes before and they had a 2-person table but upon parking, another couple took it not 30 seconds before I arrived. It was a Tuesday evening for goodness sakes. So we sat at the bar which was pretty uncomfortable. Anyways, my BF and I ordered lobster tots, Thyme burger and the summer trifle dessert. Lobster tots were good, no complaints! Burger was okay but their fries were atrocious! Dry, undercooked, not crunchy, unseasoned, just bad. I asked for hot sauce and the server gave me ketchup the first time. She came back with their house hot sauce but it was so bland and bad--just bitter spicy with no other flavor or depth. Our servers were quite friendly and one of them was especially helpful. She anticipated the takeout containers I'd need before asking! The dessert was the biggest disappointment. For $16, the "cake" was as big as a 4oz drink in a tiny mason jar. It looked fresh but was so bland. How can cherries be bland? The blueberry ice cream wasn't bad but soooo little of a scoop. I definitely don't feel a need to come back here. Thyme Table was wonderful. We started with Brussel sprouts, calamari and the focaccia, all three were excellent. I got the salmon with whipped cauliflower, corn and asparagus. A short drive from where we were staying in Crocker Park, the menu felt like a welcome upgrade from the surrounding chain restaurants. The atmosphere hit that sweet spot: relaxed yet polished, without feeling pretentious. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, with helpful guidance through the menu. The Everything Bagel Martini jumped off the cocktail menu and was the reason I ordered a martini in the first place. It sounded so unique I couldn't pass it up, and it paid off. We were seated on the covered porch area. It was a chilly night and the heaters were on. We were seated very close to a heater and it was very warm, almost too warm. The covered porch is very narrow so there was a ton of space. The food was wonderful. I don't normally like eggplant, but the way it was prepared was very good. The burger was top notch.We ordered two desserts for the table to share and ended up ordering another cheesecake. Our server was very attentive, helpful and friendly. A scallop appetizer was prepared exceptionally and I had Spice stewed lentils (spice as in flavorful, not hot). Coconut polenta, vegan citrus crema. It was perfect. My wife had potato gnocchi with mushroom ragu. Both of us would get our meals again, except there were so many other dishes we'd like to try. Warm lighting, great smells from the kitchen, and attentive service. We waited about 15 minutes, which was fine because the hostess served us drinks. We got the buttata tartine, and my boyfriend "couldn't eat it fast enough." Amazing. We split the salmon and the risotto, and we had absolutely no notes. Incredible flavors and freshness. Before coming to Cleveland, I looked up some well-talked about places to dine for the evening. And Thyme Table popped up on a list. Definitely a fan of this place and we look forward to coming back. The Great: There is such a sense of community in here; it seemed like a locals spot where many of the patrons knew the bartenders and restaurant staff. The bartenders were not only friendly but very knowledgeable. One patron had commented on the great bourbon selection behind the counter, and the bartender was able to speak confidently about the different types of bourbon as well as whip up a few different drinks the patron hadn't tried before. I don't get into bourbon myself, but he had my full attention when he pulled out this little machine that shaped a cylinder of ice into a perfect sphere. I enjoyed my Aperol Spritzer as well as my House Black Pasta, but the star of the show was the Loaded Lobster Tots. Crunchy tots + cheesy cheese + large pieces of lobster + perfectly shaved chives = perfection. Next time, I'm getting the larger size as my meal! The Confusing: Upon entering the restaurant, there were at least two empty tables, one perfectly set for four people and another that hadn't been cleaned yet also for four people. Yet we were told that the wait for a table indoors would be about 20 minutes while there was no wait for outside. It was a chilly night and even with the heaters, I wasn't interested in eating outdoors. So we opted to sit at the bar but during our entire visit, those two tables remained open. The website communicated very clearly that there no reservations permitted so I don't know what the deal was. Secondly, the lights kept dimming and then going back to full brightness randomly throughout our time there. Even the staff was confused as to what was happening. The Certain: We'll be coming back to Cleveland, therefore we'll be coming back to Thyme Table. Despite the twilight zone lights and open tables, we really enjoyed the staff and atmosphere. I thought, "why not lead with dessert?!" I so yesterday we went to dinner at a restaurant I will not name for our 20th wedding anniversary and we have a subpar experience. So I won't post about it. Today, we spontaneously tried a 20th anniversary dinner 2.0 at @thymextable in Bay Village. After following them on Facebook for a while I knew I had to try them and we weren't let down. We split a really good burger which we added chipotle aïoli to and some fries. The burger felt fresh and right off the grill. we got their Gem wedge salad with Parmesan peppercorn dressing and we asked them to hold the pickled onions. My wife was pretty vocal about how good the dressing was. The stars of the evening were the two desserts. My wife got the butterscotch pudding cake with Mitchell's vanilla ice cream. It was also served with warm butter scotch sauce and a brûlée'd banana. I got the mini chocolate snack cakes and I asked them to substitute out the winter-spice creme anglaise and give me a scoop of the house made peanut butter ice cream. my chocolate cakes were filled with chocolate buttercream and they were chocolate glazed and garnished with raspberries and blueberries. Both desserts were fantastic and we would definitely recommend this restaurant based on the food quality and the great service. We are in town for a family event and we're trying to find a good spot for dinner. I saw the Yelp reviews and we decided to stop in on a Friday night. There were 7 of us and the staff was so amazing in accommodating us just walking in. We got a table on the patio which was even better for us who were visiting from Florida & Arizona to enjoy the August Ohio weather. Our server knew the menu backwards and forwards and was able to make some great recommendation. Everyone loved their meals from the steak to short ribs to burger and a couple of salads but the highlight was the lobster loaded tots. You could literally eat these for every meal and be happy.
