Went on a busy Friday during the Fish Festival. I had a quesadilla, my husband got walleye, mom got nachoes and stepdad got shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their dish. The fish was fresh. Quesadilla well seasoned. Nachos were thick chips, held up to all the toppings. Wish it had beans and shredded cheese vs just liquid cheese. Service was prompt and friendly. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a chair for our table, but given how busy it was, it was totally understandable. Would definitely go back again. read more

We stopped here for their perch dinners after reading the reviews, and the only item on our plates we found okay to eat was the french fries. Their portions are large. You get a lot of food, but it's not well done. The coleslaw was old and tasted close to expiring. It was chalked full of mayonnaise. The breading on the fish tasted dirty and oily. The grease they used to fry the fish may have been old, and the breading was slightly off from the norm. Also, the perch was full of oil. However, I feel the restaurant/pub was friendly and appeared to provide a safe, clean atmosphere to the locals for drinks. There are also gambling/slot machines on location and people were buying some kind of gambling tickets. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for a perch dinner. read more

I'm a 40-going-on-50-something and tried this place which is in the old Captain Larry's space. If you are a local, this is your kind of place: definitely a working class crowd here in early April. I imagine it will be just as solid in the summers during boating/vacation season. The prices are dirt cheap, the service is off the chain, the music is perfect for my generation and the wings were phenom! For a bonus: try the fried mushrooms. The mango habanero aioli was to die for. Mixed drinks are fairly priced and well made. We plan on being regulars here! Be careful Rudy's! You have some ompetition in town! I'm looking at some of these one star reviews and calling BS. You give a place a one star review after meeting there and only having a glass of water? C'mon man. Be reasonable. My wife and I wanted to take a little day trip. Vermillion is about an hour from our home. As usual before leaving I checked Yelp for the bar/restaurant scene and decided on RT 6 Pub despite some of the less than favorable reviews. Sure glad I chose RT 6 Pub. I'd be the first to admit I like dive bars. This place was far from it...I mean immaculate! There were only a few patrons but it was a Wed around 1:30 in the afternoon. I ordered a Pabst my wife a Miller Lite this was before we saw on Wed they have a $3.00 whiskey special so we lucked out and changed over to a whiskey and soda water. The bartenderess was a delight (wish I could remember her name) and the drinks were a good pour. Now to lunch. We each ordered the perch sandwich. We were seated at the bar and when they brought are orders my wife leaned over touching shoulders and whispered...I thought we ordered the perch sandwich, ​not the dinner. That's how enormous these sandwiches are. 4 generous filets per sandwich. They even tasted better than they looked. Hands down the BEST perch sandwich we ever had! Although there is a lot to see in downtown Vermillion I would make the 2-hour​ round trip just to get another perch sandwich. Bottom line, my family has been eating to go chicken from here for years. We usually order to go on Sundays. The owner just flipped my 7 year old son off. She said my son said "fuck off". My son actually said" have a nice day". The ownership is rude, inconsistent and does not appreciate the families in the community that support them. I refuse to ever go back to a business that flips a 7 year old child off, no matter what the reason is. I hope the community will support the fact that the owners do not care about the people in the community. Who would ever give the middle finger to a 7 year old child. This is not the type of owners I want supporting my community. read more

Stopped on the way through coming back home. Never been to downtown Vermillion, so we thought we'd give it a try. Sat on the patio. Friendly efficient service, I had the walleye sandwich with fries and slaw, my G/F had a Reuben. Slaw was okay, fries and sandwich were awesome! Perfectly cooked and seasoned, and she was happy with her Reuben. Not a stellar Reuben, but very good! Entertainment on the patio tonight was awesome! Interior looks like it was either remodeled, or looked like it was last done in the 1950's, which is kind of cool. Diner vibe with the decor on the inside. Reasonably priced menu, and the perch/walleye were what caught my eye. They were out of perch when I ordered for about 40 minutes, and I prefer perch, but the walleye was great. It's been a while since I stopped in, but it had a nice, laid-back atmosphere, friendly staff and a good menu. I lucked out and they were having a pulled pork special--- sooooo very good! I definitely enjoyed it! The crowd was local and friendly, which was great as I was (and am) new to Vermilion. Will definitely return. read more

We stopped in here for a beer and a snack. The only negative is the bathrooms are down some really steep steps in the basement. Food, service and beverages made up for it. I'm hoping that the next time we visit the partner's parents, we can slip away long enough to visit here again. read more

Walked in on a Friday night. Looked to be a good place, busy, with live music but found a table. After sitting there for 10 minutes or so and no server in sight, went to the bar to order a drink and get menus for the table. We drank our beer and not once did a server ever come to our table in the 45 minutes or so we were there. They were serving other tables on either side of us but skipped ours. Odd experience and we left and spent our money elsewhere. It was busy but not busy enough to be completely ignored. read more

Besides the burger and fries on my plate being so over cooked that it was barely edible, my dining experience was quite unpleasant. The man behind the bar was extremely rude, as we were interrupting his dinner which he was eating on the counter behind the bar. Then I watched him make a margarita and pour it into glass for a customer, AND DRINK THE LEFT OVER POTION right from the mixing glass. I ate half of my burnt burger, and promptly left...definitely not to return. Walk right on past this place if you are considering going there. read more

I met up with a friend to give her some tickets at Route 6 as i was passing through town. I was in a hurry and I couldn't stay long so we just ordered waters. We met, drank our waters, caught up for a few and within 15 mins after arriving, decided to be on our way. I took our water glasses up to the bar, and since we didn't order anything, I left $3 under my empty glass and said thank you to the bar tender who seemed bothered that we didn't order anything. As I turned around to walk out, someone from the bar muttered "wheres the tip?" I turned around and explained "it's on the bar, thanks!" as someone shushed the rude person. As I left, I thanked them again and let them know that I'll never be back. Now, I know that proper ettiequte says that we should have ordered something but I was in a hurry and as a gesture of thanks for the water and use of a table, I left a $3 tip for 2 waters and 15 minutes of table use. Also, it was 4:30 on a Tuesday and there were only 2 other people in the place sitting at the bar conversing with the bartender, so we weren't taking any seats or tables from any customers. Well, how can I describe the unfortunate experience I had today? Let's begin by describing how inconsiderate the male bartender was by not even acknowledging the fact that we were sitting at the bar for nearly ten minutes without even a hi I'll be with you in a moment. Let me continue, much to my dismay I watched him prepare a margarita for some unwitting soul by pouring the mixture out of a store bought jug into a cocktail shaker,from there in to a proper glass. He then proceeded to consume the remaining concoction from the mixing vessel. Finally we were approached by a kindly young women who said it was her second day on the job. Without pen or paper she took our order. The food arrived in a timely manner. We ordered burgers and fries with a substitution of onion rings that was an up charge. Everything that we ordered was over cooked. The fries were nearly inedible as were the onion rings. The burgers were well prepared but the meat was not what most would consider fresh and by that I mean it had a very peculiar flavor. I sincerely hope that this review will help this business improve.
