Believe these things or not, it's fun to hear the stories. When there we heard one about things happening on Thursdays at 3:00 and yes, that's when we were there! Seeing the name of their wifi was 'Thursdayatthree' made me realize the story wasn't just because that was when we were there. I'm not a huge fan of their wines. Nice variety from dry to sweet including a number of fruit wines. Owners and staff are very friendly. Had the starlight classic, lord of the manor, spring lake steuben, and slice of heaven. All were great. Concord made on the dry side is somewhat rare in the area and is nice to see. There's also a cat who is very friendly. She met us outside the door and came inside, then later on sat with us. read more

We decided to check out this winery when we were trying to find things to do in the area. My wife found this place while looking on Google Maps, and I'm so glad she did. Upon driving to the winery and parking, we were approached by friendly staff. We decided to do some wine tasting, which was served in little plastic cups. I wasn't too fond of how it was served, not only because it looked tacky, but resulted in plastic waste too. My wife and I chose different wines, just so we could have a taste of each others wines. As has happened in the past, we tend to end up liking the choices the other one selected. I had one really disliked choice(a dry chocolate cherry one), but the rest were very good. We picked up a few bottles. The staff also shared elaborate ghost stories with us and encouraged us to walk the property. We each got a glass of our favorite wine in a plastic cup and walked the perimeter of the property. We were very appreciative that we were allowed to walk the path, take in nature near the apple orchard, and just enjoy being there. We also hung out in the lobby area with one of their friendly kitties. Being here was definitely a highlight for our day, and I would definitely consider going back. Then again, we have been going through their wines at a faster pace than usual, so I guess we will need to go back and buy some more. read more

Wow! This winery is one of the most unique on the wine trail! Located in a historic and HAUNTED house, make sure you ask about the very interesting history while you're here! The house is beautifully decorated with a laid back atmosphere. They have two tasting rooms and scenic grounds. They also host events here. Wine: They offer a few semi-dry wines but have mostly sweet wines. They're known for their fruit wines, and the names tie back to the history of the house. Tasting: Great experience and very entertaining! While we were trying our 4 tastings, we got to hear the history of the house and the staff was super friendly too. At the end of the tasting, we got to pick an Easter egg and won a free hat! Overall great experience and would recommend checking them out if you enjoy sweeter wines, interested in a historic house, or looking for an event venue. read more

Marjim Manor has become one of the wineries I visit most often. Today I stopped in because they are having a used book sale in support of our local library: $1 for hard covers, $0.50 for soft covers. Most of the books are in excellent condition. I made some great finds, including a special edition of Neil Gaiman's American Gods. It looks brand new. Marjim Manor has all sorts of events throughout the year: craft nights, ghost hunts, psychic nights, murder mysteries, Victorian teas. Something for everybody. Sometimes other vendors like local chocolatiers come in. And they have shop cats. Oh, the shop cats. And of course there's the wine. They specialize in fruit wines. Rumor has it my beloved Blue Beryl, their sweet blueberry, is returning this year. read more

After wanting to stop by here for so long finally made it there on a Sunday afternoon no one else was there it was so nice they waited on us they gave us a tour of the manner they told us the ghost stories we had several samples of wine they threw an extra wine for us it was amazing we had the best time it was so small and quaint and cute and it was amazing it was a great experience I would recommend you to go there we had so much fun they were so nice! Second stop yesterday on our Niagara wine trail wine tour. I love the gorgeous house that houses this winery, and the story the house holds as well. The story was told by Joe, one of the staff members. According to the legend of the house, starting with the wife of the original owner, many people (and even a dog) have died in the home on a Thursday at 3pm over the years. Not to self, do not visit at this time!!! The home has even been featured on ghost hunters! The story aside, the wine tasting here was $6 and included a wine glass and tickets for four tastings. The included sine glass was a nice touch and I was pretty excited about this. The wines on their list go grime driest at the top to sweetest at the bottom. I'm a sucker for fruity wines. Favorite wines: -Strawberry Dreams Forever (sweeter side) -Beryl Blue (sweet blueberry) OH and the best part was the two resident kitties I got to love on. They even sell little bottles of wine meant for cats so their owners aren't drinking alone! read more

For a winery this is no good. My boyfriend and I did 2 wine tastings and of course we share but we found nothing we liked. They don't properly chill their wines so they don't taste like they should. Also the staff mumble a lot so you have no idea what is the composition of what you're drinking. On the other hand, this manor is haunted. It was in the top 100 most haunted places in the United States. The staff know the story and telling it was the only time they didn't mumble. Supposedly Ghost Hunters investigated the home and found a lot of activity. I would love to come back for a ghost tour or see the different things they talked about. This place shouldn't be a winery, it should be a ghostly attraction. read more

I called Marjim Manor to book some wine tastings for a birthday party. The owner was extremely rude and nasty, and didn't even let me finish asking my question. After talking to friends, they have had a terrible experience with this establishment turning them away because of showing up in a limo. We had such high hopes for this winery with all of the stories of ghosts and haunted buildings. However, it was hands down the worst winery on the tour. When we walked in, we were not greeted, but immediately barked at with the cost of the wine tasting. You have to pay up front, and I wasn't even sure I wanted to go taste these wines at this point. When we arrived at the desk, the woman had already rung up our total, assuming we would each have a separate tasting. This rubbed us the wrong way, and we decided to share two between the four of us. I was really glad we did. The wine list has absolutely no descriptors of the wine. There were about twenty choices, and all the information we had was the name, and maybe telling us if it was a cherry or an apricot wine. Perhaps if there had been descriptors I might have picked a wine I liked. The wines are laid out on the counter in these cheap black plastic buckets full of water. The wine labels are tacky and need a serious graphic designer. Every wine we picked was syrupy sweet. Our friends has the cab, and said it was the worst can they've ever tasted in their lives. It's probably a good thing that the pours were barely enough for a sip. We heard such great stories of the cats, but they were nowhere to be seen, and when we asked, the guy behind the counter just shrugged and said "oh they're somewhere." I would absolutely steer anyone away from this winery. read more

Friendly people in an interesting old house with lots of fruit wines that have kitschy names. We stopped here on the way back to the cottage after a day of Canadian wineries, and we don't like fruit wines, so we should have known better. The tasting was free - good - but the wines were a little too warm to really enjoy. They had all the windows open and the fans on, but the wines were in some kind of cooler thing that didn't really keep them cold. Supposedly the house is haunted, according to the woman owner, but her husband doesn't believe. The server did tell us that they'll be on Ghost Hunters this fall, so we'll have to see if it's true. The wines are affordable - we got a decent bottle for $9, but we bought it mainly because we wanted to get something since the tasting was free. My mom saw that there are tarot card readings here on Sundays in the Gusto section of the paper. She wanted to go, and asked if I was in. Well I've gotta say, I really love a day trip up to Niagara County and I love all things "new age" so of course I was in! If you take Transit Road (Rt. 78) up from anywhere in the Northtowns, it's super easy to get here. Plus you will pass some great places to stop along the way. Lake Effect Ice Cream for a cold artisan dessert, Reid's for some super cheap picnic eats, to name a couple of stops. Plus it's semi-close to other wineries up here. On a beautiful day, like today, the drive is gorgeous. There's plenty of parking at the winery, and when you pull up, the manor looks majestic. The sky was blue today and the grounds were beautiful. It was an awesome sight. We parked and walked up to the porch, immediately greeted by an adorable and super friendly cat, whom I learned is named William Shakespeare. We walked in and were greeted at a counter. Walked into a room for the tarot reading. I went first and my mom enjoyed a glass of sparkling apple wine. When I was done, I got a wine tasting and really enjoyed it. My favorite wine was an apricot wine called Jewel of the Crown, I even bought a bottle. They have a lot of unique fruit wines. The plum wine is another I liked. They had chocolate tasting/samples too. Yum! This winery was a buzz the whole time we were there, but it's quieter than one might expect. I'm going to guess that your visit will be what you make it. Initiate conversation with the employees, enjoy your time there, and it should be pleasant! Speaking of the haunted house... While I was having my cards read, one of the doors slowly opened in front of me... The medium said there was a girl in a white dress who said she liked it so much there she wasn't leaving. Hmmmm, interesting! My buddy William Shakespeare was laying under my car when we walked out. He was so loving to me, I wanted to take him home! Very cute winery set in a old historic mansion. The mansion is bright and beautiful with large rooms and tons of light. The winery gestures 3 different rooms, each with a bar and a designated type of wine, although they will pour any of their wines in any of the rooms. The wines we tried were all pretty good. The wine is good, the history of the manor is interesting, but the servers are dryer than any of their wines. We were just there for the wine and cheese event and no one offered us cheese. They were real dry and not very friendly. This is the third time we have been here this year and it is the same each time. Time for them to get better hosts or they lost me as a customer. read more

If you haven't visited the Manor you need to!! It's a great stop on the Niagara Wine Trail! We have been visiting this winery since they opened their doors about 9 years ago. The owners are super friendly and great hosts. There is a complete ghost story that the tasting rep's tell as long as there isn't a lot of people in the main tasting room. It tells the story of how they named a lot of their wines and is very interesting! This last visit we had a limo arranged and when we arrived, the owner greeted us and gave us all our tasting tickets free of charge, which was very generous. There weren't a lot of people there on the day we stopped so we asked for the whole ghost story as we had friends with us from out of town. The entire lower half of the house is open to walk around and learn about the history dating back to the 1800's and how it used to be a nunnery. There are old pictures and news articles that are pretty cool to read. I also learned that they offer a crafting and tasting class which looks neat! They have a variety of wines from dry reds and pretty sweet wines so there is plenty of choices for everyone's pallet! I highly recommend adding this winery to your next trip on the Niagara Wine Trail!! read more

Cats!! There's always a bunch of cats running around and I am a huge fan of cats. There's also supposedly ghosts running around if you believe that kind of thing. The people who work here will tell you a few ghost stories if you ask. Everyone who works here is really friendly so don't be afraid to ask questions about ghosts, cats, history or wine! The wine is good. The list is huge so there are plenty of options. There are a lot of fruit wines. I tend to stick to the dryer wines here, their sweeter fruit wines have an odd (almost medicinal) aftertaste for me. The building itself is so pretty. The front room gets a ton of natural light and there's usually a lady selling chocolate up there too. And cats are usually up there too. There's a trail behind the manor that leads to a tiny little pond. It's really cool to check out in summer. read more

Throughout our sweet wine tasting Margo told us the haunted stories behind the manor, which was so unique and fun. We took a tour and TOTALLY got goose bumps by the French doors! Unfortunately, this is my least favorite winery on the trail. It has so much potential with it being a haunted place, but the service and wines don't match up with the uniqueness of the venue. They are NOT accommodating to groups of people - which they should realize brings in a lot of money. They were so unwelcoming as soon as we stepped foot in the door with 21 people (after calling in advance to let them know we were on the way). If we weren't on a time constraint, we would have left and went to a different winery - IT WAS THAT UNCOMFORTABLE! It was only our second winery of the day and we had just had so much fun at the first place, so this was a buzz kill. They wanted to charge us an extra $2/person and force us into buying a souvenir glass solely based on us coming in a limo. If anything, we should get a discount for bringing a large group - not pay more. We had already collected the money from everyone, so eventually the woman agreed to let us pay the normal rate (which we were told when we called in advance). Knowing this place was haunted, the group was intrigued to learn more. We anticipated the venue to provide more of an explanation, but not a word was said. When we tried to look at the rest of the winery, the owner (I assumed) snapped at us and said they were preparing for a wedding so we could not view the other tasting room. Their wines are only bottled on site - they are not even made by them. Majority of the wines are too sweet. If they were friendlier, we all would have bought something - but we all left without a purchase after the way we were treated. Service goes a long way - and this place lacks it. I will never return, nor will any members of our group. read more

One of my favorite wineries on the wine tour! It doesn't house my favorite wine, but it's pretty good. They won the award for best red sweet wine, so I picked up a bottle and it was good! It's different from my normal inclination to have Niagara Landing, but it was still great. I have to say, the best part about this place is the history behind it. Without giving away the story, because you really need to hear it for yourself, the place is haunted because of a death that took place in one of the rooms. Without asking, I decided to explore the house and ended up in the open parlor where the person was shot. Just being there was kind of chilling. I looked to my right and one of the cats was by the doorway, just staring at me. I ran off because the cat was giving me the creeps. But I did end up getting the sweet wine that they had, and I'm pretty sure it was gone in a day. Oh well. I would definitely come back here next time I'm on the trail. I Love this place! Margo is always welcoming with a smile on her face. I was a DD this weekend and they have water and iced tea set out and DD's get a really cute coffee mug. The cats wandering around are sweet and friendly and always stop for a pet. Plus the wine is good and they are great with large groups (just call ahead). They have a large selection of everything from dry to sweet and are always willing to tell us the history/ghost story. read more

What a charming, quirky winery! The owner is so sweet and so are her fruit inspired wines. The house where the tastings take place is haunted by previous owners, which you'll hear about as you taste your wines.
