What a beautiful place!!! I've been living in Western New York for over 30 years and I never knew this place existed. My son was running a race there this weekend so we said, a winery, why not? The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It would be a lovely place to hold a wedding or a special event. After our son ran his race on the beautiful grounds of the winery, we sat outside overlooking the pond where we had a delicious lunch. I opted for a wine flight while my husband had a glass of Montepulciano. Our server, Nicole was personable, funny, engaging, and very attentive . I would come back again and again if I lived closer! I gave spring lake winery a 2 star because of the food and service. We planned a going away dinner for our friends there last night, we were told weeks ago there would be a wedding so we would have to dine in the wine garden which was no problem. However, they didn't alert us until we were there that they wouldn't be able to serve us many food choices because of the wedding going on! We drive 45 out of our way to find that out so that was a very disappointing dinner. We ended up having to go somewhere else for the actual dinner. Four of us went to Spring Lake winery for lunch. several wines were tested by the four of us off. Light of five wines were tested personally I picked the sangria to have with my lunch. I ordered their smash burger, which is two burgers roll. My wife had a chicken wrap which she enjoyed my friend ordered the fish tacos, which he said were very good. The main part of the restaurant was not operating that day as they were hosting a wedding later in the day they have another area toward the back of the lot which they also can cook and make pretty much all of their food, we added a picnic table back there. The scenery was amazing with the lake and trees and it was just a very nice day. Service was excellent and we enjoyed the afternoon greatly. we look forward to coming there again. read more

My husband and myself attended a wine walk at spring lake winery and afterwards at down inside the winery and enjoyed a nice curated selection of different cheeses and meats on their charcuterie board! I love this winery because of the ambiance being located right on a beautiful pond with plenty of walking trails around! The outdoor space offers plenty of space to relax and enjoy a glass of wine too when the weather is nice! We always get the charcuterie board every time we go! Took a lovely drive from Hamburg this past beautiful Sunday. The venue is beautiful and can be used for a variety of celebrations. We were seated at the edge of the lake and the view was spectacular. It became apparent that they were short-staffed. We received our water after 20 minutes from being seated. Our waitress arrived 15 minutes after that . You know Yelpers are the best people! I wouldn't say the taste of any of the wines I tried was spectacular to be honest. A solid 4/5. However, the scenery steals the show. It really is a beautiful place. I would definitely go back to have a glass of wine and sit by that water. I tried all five on the white wine tastings list. I would say the Chardonnay 2020 at $19 a bottle would be my number one choice. Smack in the middle between dry and sweet. My next favorite was the peach sangria, a sweeter riesling at $16 a bottle. I did the tastings, five tastings for $15. I think that's the way to go when you're not sure you'll like the taste of the wine. There is an offer on yelp that if you buy two bottles of wine, they will give you a 10% discount. I would go back and enjoy glass of wine by the lake and bring home two bottles. I saved my offer for next time. The grilled chicken sandwich I had for lunch was really tasty. And one of my friends had the burger. It was also prepared nicely. Not a huge menu, but just enough for some appetizers or a handheld sandwich. The BlackBerry Cabernet sorbet was a treat. You could actually taste the seeds of the blackberry. Fresh and light. The setting for the winery is outstanding. You drive off the main road down a curvy tree lined road that then opens up to the winery. The outdoor covered patio and surrounding area is very scenic and calming. I can't say I was crazy about any of the wines I selected for my tasting. I tried the 3 dry reds and 2 whites. First time here. Met up with some friends for lunch. Nice scenic views. Service was good. Food was average. I ordered the Turkey Wrap but was told that they had no Turkey so I had to settle for the Chicken Wrap which they charged me $2.00 more for. I would have thought that since they had no Turkey, they wouldn't up-charge for the Chicken. They can never convince me that a couple of ounces of Chicken is that much more expensive than a couple of ounces of Turkey. Seemed like a simple money grab case. Prices were higher than average. I ordered the Peach Sangria which really had very little flavor and was very watered down, lacked body as I heard was the same case as their wines. My recommendation is that if you are looking for nice scenery go and look but don't bother paying for below average watered down wine nor the $15-$20 cost for their wine tasting and I suggest that if you are hungry, try any other local restaurant in the area. read more

I write this review from my experience. Others may have had better experiences but this day I did not. The stars represent the staff and atmosphere. I was taken here by a friend as a thank you for helping them out. Upon entering I was looking forward to an enjoyable meal. The place is very lovely and we had a great outdoor table near the water. We were greeted as one should be when entering an establishment and the waitress was just as warm and welcoming when she arrived at our table. We perused through the menu and everything sounded quite delectable. In fact I was having a hard time trying to decide. I ended up choosing the stuffed French toast and my friend chose the breakfast egg roll thingy's. So far all the boxes were being checked to have a wonderful experience! Then the food arrived and the whole experience took a turn first the worse. My stuffed "French toast" was basically two slices of toast with a fancy schmear. The spread was tasty but the toast was very dry. For $18 I was expecting much more. Maybe the chef needs a trio to the Dorstop near Pittsburgh to see what a stuffed French toast should be. Or Paris. My fellow diner's breakfast rolls were over fried, which made it eat quite greasy. Their meal arrived with a dip which was good but was far too heavy to accompany a fried item. Balance is key. Also the balance of if you are going to charge a top notch price for brunch then the EGGspectations of a top notch meal to match comes with that price. Maybe I will come back one day to see if this experience was a fluke but that maybe a ways down the road since toast with snazzy jam for $18 left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Sadly, they did not have the Gewurztraminer wine in stock that I wanted as my complimentary beverage , so I settled for a blue fruity cocktail made with their wine . The area is beautiful, and it looks like a wonderful place to have weddings or catered events, as you can airbnb the owners house. This review is for the restaurant/cafe only. WINE: -Reislings: It's sour. It's way too sour, and that may just be because of the region, but fingerlake reislings are superior. - The other wines had a weak aroma and flavor. It was not a good food paring wine. Their merlot was softer than a Pino nior, the Sarat was nothing special, and the only ones that did not taste like grape infused water were those that aged in tequila and burboun barrels. -These would probably be good wines for beginner wine drinkers. RESERVATIONS: You must make a reservation to dine. However, ask if there is a scheduled event when you call or else they will stick you in the bar area. Call ahead early and be clear about where you want to sit during the holidays. It does get packed for brunches, I'm told. DINING EXPERIENCE: It took 30 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our soup! We only got our soup because I had to walk up to waitress at the bar (not serving anyone) and ask if we could at least have soup. We were the only people in the restaurant, but there were about 3 groups of between 3-6 patrons who came through at different times for wine flights and drinks. Our waitress was also the bartender. Within 2 minutes of asking to at least get our soup, it came out hot, which means that it was already prepared in a large batch, so it only needed to be plated and served. This was not a good sign. This probably meant that she forgot about us being busy at the bar. Then our food came out 7 minutes later. Unfortunately, the fries were cold, and the grilled chicken sandwich was Luke warm and soggy. The only thing that was served at the right temp was the cold salad. When I asked for clarification, the waitress claimed that the grooms party ordered burgers at the same time but this did not add up with how long it took for ready-made soup to be served and why our "hot" food came out tepid. In conclusion, either our waitress forgot about us or the kitchen cannot properly handle catering events AND running a 1-3 table cafe during lunchtime. I would only recommend trying the cafe during events such as Mother's Day brunch or bringing your newbie wine friends for a tasting and avoiding lunch altogether unless there are absolutely no events that weekend. read more

A wonderful winery to relax and enjoy delicious wine! I love that you don't need to travel too far to get here, but it still feels tranquil and set apart from the busy streets of the suburbs and shops. Their staff was incredible in allowing us to hang out on the back patio with a bottle of wine we purchased, despite a Mother's Day brunch buffet happening in the dining area. They even told us it was cheaper to purchase a bottle vs all of us getting a singular glass of wine. Despite them having a limited wine menu, I was still impressed by the taste of the wine they had. We ordered the Zia Minx 2021, a sweet sparkling muscato. It had a wonderful peach, apricot, and classic Muscato flavor. It was perfect for the warm weather and brought a freshness to our palates. The lakeside patio is beautiful and looks over a small lake surrounded by trees and nature. There's plenty of birds chirping around you, so you feel so relaxed and able to spend a quiet moment with friends and family. Prices of the bottles of wine are also very reasonable. There is a wine bar counter that you can order from and also a small restaurant side to be waited on. Service at both are great. Overall a great place to visit especially in the summer when they have live music too. What a little hidden gem not far from Old Fort Niagara! We wanted to try something a little different during our Falls stay and headed north to Old Fort Niagara, then east for some wine and lunch. It was a windy and cool day so we chose to sit inside. We shared a flight of 5 different wines and the harvest salad with grilled mahi, and the charcuterie board. Of our wine flights we loved the bourbon barrel aged syrah, and my mom who likes a sweeter wine liked the pink minx (I tried and it was tasty). The vineyard is beautiful and on a small lake, and we enjoyed being outside after. We received great, friendly service and really enjoyed our lunch! what we seem to have here is a failure to communicate! We have tried for months for someone to contact us in regards to an issue that we are having on a booking for September. Here are a few of the letters that I've written, trying to resolve this to no avail. It's a very simple issue that could be taken care of in one phone call. I gave my stepdaughter $2500 deposit to book a wedding at your venue. I understand there's been a lot of issues and things aren't going quite the way they should go. I'm just verifying that she has that date and that we will be able to have booked that facility for that date. We have decided to utilize the deposit as the dinner plus whatever else we may spend. I was truly hoping to resolve this in an adult fashion. But so far I've not seen understanding, compassion nor good business sense. This is a wonderful venue for wine tasting and having light lunch. We came by with friends on Monday afternoon and it was not very busy. They were very accommodating as to where we could sit under the roof down by the lake or among the trees. There is plenty of shade everywhere. There was a deal on Yelp to get a $30 voucher for $25. A flight of five wines is $10 for the tasting. My wife and I shared a turkey wrap and Caesar salad. Food and wines were very good. An extra bonus if you're a pet lover is that they allow you to bring your dogs! They are open daily from 12 to 6. They said they were busier on the weekends. We also purchased a couple of bottles of wine. We may very well come by again while the weather is good. read more

I have a feeling my group and I caught them on a bad day because of all the good reviews prior to coming here. My experience was not as great though unfortunately. I went on a Saturday and there were people but not a lot to where I thought they were busy. We waited in the line to get our drinks when some woman approached us and told us to sit down and she'll take our order. So we followed her and sat and she then left and did not return the entirety of our day. Some other server came up after about 15 minutes of us just sitting with not even water or menus. She ended up taking care of us and let us know that another server called in and that's why they were behind. Everything was okay, although a long wait for everything. Friendly and very helpful staffs and very spacious to accommodate COVID concerns. This is a commercial vineyard so they grow and outsource different types of grapes. My favorites were the (red) Cabernet and Syrah, (white) pink minx (Pinot noir) and zia minx (moscato). These were all very light and great for social gathering with friends and family. They also offer a mix case (12 bottles) discount if you want to buy more to share with friends and family back at home (like I). Living in the Bay Area, I am no stranger to wineries. Wine tasting is a sport in my neck of the woods! Driving down the SLW driveway to the winery gave me the Napa/Sonoma county vibe as the estate unfolded. The winery is on a large piece of land with a nicely designed building that looks like a serious winery. So many WNY wineries are converted houses and barns which have their place but present limited potential. Around the main facility are a number of other structures and a lake for folks to come and celebrate the simple life or throw a big special occasion (weddings, etc.). I found the wine server extremely well informed and cordial. The Syrah and Cabernet were quite good and drinkable especially from a region know for its sweeter wines. Outside of a couple of places in Hammondsport which I thought were top notch, SLW was clearly the best winery in WNY as to style, presentation, professionalism and most importantly, they have really good wine. read more

The train ride is a great experience. We first went on the train to visit the Medina Train Station (also a great place - and I am not even an enthusiast) Very nostaglic. But once at the winery, we had a chicken dinner while we listened to music. We also walked the grounds on a beautiful fall day. Very peaceful. We even did a wine tasting and bought a bottle to drink while we listened to the music. Second time just because we wanted more wine, so it was wine tasting and purchasing... There tasting room is quaint and inviting. Now for the Mother's day brunch, I did see some people complaining about the price. BUT it was a buffet with sirloin steak, turkey and ham at the carving stations. The other food was overwhelming and delicious as well as abundant fruit and dessert. PLUS open bar for the 2 two hours of serving. Mimosas, Sangria (my choice - homemade delicious) and Wine. The pavilion was added since we were there last. Even it was a little chilly and a little rainy they had heaters and the decor is beautiful. You would never knew you were outside. I can for a wine tasting first and one of the owners showed me around and gave a quick history of the business. I thought this was a personal touch that not many other wineries do.
