I have a bit of a background in both design and landscaping -- enough to sketch out a rough vision and probably enough to get myself into trouble -- so I came to Greg with a very rough hand-drawn concept of what my wife and I wanted. We had one initial meeting at our house to talk through ideas, and then later sat down for his formal design presentation. Honestly, it blew my mind. The level of detail and professionalism was unlike anything I've ever seen. We could see every single aspect of the project brought to life: every tree, plant, boulder, material choice, the stonework, lighting, patio cover, built-in barbecue, spa deck, and the sunken fire pit. What really impressed me was that his rendering even accounted for the exact orientation of our lot, allowing us to visualize how the sun would rise and fall throughout the day and how the backyard would look at different times. We could even identify which plants would receive full sun versus shade and make informed decisions accordingly. The entire process felt incredibly thoughtful, creative, and professional from start to finish. I was tired of the low quality solar landscape lights I was using, and I wanted a more permanent…read moresolution that was not dependent on how much sun was hitting it during the day. The solar lights petered out quickly in the winter or after a cloudy day. I went to my trusty Yelp app and came across Las Vegas Backyards and their many five star reviews. I sent information about my project through Yelp, and I received a response the next business day to setup an estimate. The project manager was very thorough, and he explained his recommendations for the project while keeping aesthetics in mind. The estimate was right in line with what my research had told me was an average price for this type of job. I was, however, a little surprised that the project manager did not arrive with a catalog of various lighting fixture choices to peruse. He did send several photos of his recommended fixtures later that day based on our preference for something modern. Communication was quite good through a group text with all the respective players involved. The date for the install was arranged within a week or so of my inquiry. There was a slight snafu on installation day, as the fixtures we had chosen were sold out. We were sent photos of alternative choices and were able to find a contemporary design that was to our liking. The first part of the installation took about a half day with trenching, running power lines, and installing the fixtures. The second day was a quick installation of the transformer. I was happy to see they had installed a smart transformer with WiFi access and an app to set schedules. I do wish they would've gone over this ahead of time to discuss what type of transformer would be installed (again, I am glad they picked a smart model as that's exactly what I wanted). Unfortunately, one of the spotlights was found to be defective by the installer during their testing. They returned the next afternoon to replace it. Payment was handled in phases with certain percentages due at certain points in the installation. Payment is easily made online with a credit card, but unfortunately there is a surcharge for this type of payment. They do have other payment options if you want to avoid the surcharge. Now we have a wonderful, gorgeous, and very upscale looking landscape lighting setup that really increases the curb appeal! Thank you to Las Vegas backyards!
