This is a convenient place for a quick bit of pseudo-Asian on the way from Branson to Springfield or if you are visiting Wilson's Creek nearby. Their food is pretty good, if not what I would expect. It tasted a little less Asian than I anticipated. The portions are good-sized and a very good value for the money. The service is good and quite friendly. The diet Pepsi was flat, but the staff was very apologetic and offered alternatives, and vowed they would correct the deficiency they acknowledged. Can't really ask for more than that. So the bottom line is this. If want a good meal, if not very authentic, this is a great value and recommended. If you are a discriminating Asian food fan, you might be disappointed. read more

Fantastic flavor large pieces of meat best Springfield cashew chicken I've had in a long time

Placed an order at 6:33 PM via telephone. Was informed to pick up in 20-25 minutes, food would be brought out to vehicle. Arrived at 7:00, and waited over 45 minutes before order came out. Mongolian beef was more like soup, the orange chicken was dry, overcooked, had a strange texture, eggroll was bland, and the fried rice was noting more than white rice with soy sauce mixed in. The orange chicken sauce also tasted "burnt". Everything was so loaded with sodium (MSG?) that we ended up drinking water all night long...which meant we didn't get a good night's sleep. This was not our first time ordering food from them, but it WILL be our last. For the roughly $50 we spent for ourselves and our guests, we could have gotten a decent meal at a different place AND had money left over. read more

I can't get Springfield cashew chicken where I live and I crave it badly sometimes. So, when I was in SGF for a visit, I pulled into town kinda late but knew with the jam-packed weekend this would be my only chance to secure my favorite dish. China Wok is OK. I remember going there a couple of times in the past and not being wowed by it, but it did the job in a pinch. The gravy on the cashew chicken isn't my favorite, but the chicken itself was spot on. The rice was a little dry, however, the wontons were pretty decent. I wish this dish would move north so I could get it more than once every two years or so. read more

Many moons ago there was a tanning salon next door to China Wok on S Scenic. I worked there in high school and would get my dinner at China Wok when I was closing the store. I LOVED the food. That was 2002. Fast forward to 2018, I had spent the last SIXTEEN YEARS traveling the entire country (yes, the entire United States) for my line of work. FINALLY in 2018 I move back home and was SO HAPPY to see this China Wok still in business - and expanded!! One of the first meals I bought when moving back home was their cashew chicken and OH MY GAWD it was amazing. I ordered 4 orders of Wontons. It took 30 minutes. I got home and nothing was in the middle. Not one thing of pork to be found ANYWHERE! I used liked this place.but I haven't been there in awhile. It's really changed. The lady behind the counter in the evenings is super nice but that doesn't make up for the quality of the Wontons I ordered and paid for. It's very frustrating to pay for something that they had to know wasn't right. If what I ordered wasn't available it would have been nice to know. I won't be back. I am making this review solely based on the cashew chicken and crab Rangoon. I grew up in Springfield and moved out to San Diego a few years ago. Every time I go home I try at least 4 or 5 different cashew chicken spots in town. I would consider myself a true Springfield chicken connoisseur! So with that said I thought the cashew chicken here was by far the best! The all white meat chicken was plump and juicy and nicely battered to achieve a good crunchy crust. The sauce was the true achievement here! Some places seem to make their sauces heavy on the oyster sauce which I do not prefer. I like sauces that are a rich, brown, nutty sauce that seems to have a better base of chicken stock and that is what kind of sauce they served. The crab Rangoon was also good. They were crispy and had a good amount of filling. They did not put any cashews or green onions on the chicken, I'm not sure if they forgot it but it was still delicious!! Highly recommend trying!! If your getting it to go, get the sauce on the side!! Put it on when you get home to keep the chicken crispy! read more

China Wok has been on my contact list for two years because i have lived in their delivery area. The delivery has acceptable run times. They have an easy online ordering process or just call in. The staff has always been friendly and courteous. Ive order delivery over 20 times for sure and my order has never once been wrong or cold. The food is 7/10. Crab Rangoons 8/10. Egg Rolls 7/10. Won Ton Soup 8/10. Egg Drop Soup 7/10. Cashew Chicken 7/10. I like that they have all white meat option. Eating there for lunch can be a wait if they are busy. The times I've been there they have only had one girl taking orders behind the counter and serving all the tables so when she is getting phone calls for orders in addition to taking orders at the counter and serving food to the guest seated at the tables, it can really get backed up. If they hire another person through lunch they would probably get more business. I never went back to eat in for lunch for that reason. Hope that helps! read more

For me, the POT-STICKERS are just about great. A little overpowering so don't go for them every other day; but they're an inexpensive treat if you want a snack. I've only had the chicken a couple of times and it wasn't really memorable except that it was fairly crunchy on the outside which was pleasant. It always looks like they need about three more people working than they have, but the ones they have don't have to join a gym because they do plenty of hustling. We ordered, in restaurant, to go so we knew there would be a little wait. Two tables ordered after we did. They got their food quickly while 30 minutes later we were still waiting. We were told that my dark meat chicken needed to be cooked and that was the wait. However, while the food was tasty, it was also cold. If the chicken had just been taken out it would have been piping hot. Not cold. I understand that things get missed and forgotten but cold food after waiting 30... Nothing was hot. It amazes me how many Chinese places in Springfield think people who live here will just eat slop if they pile it high enough on our plates. Another mediocre Chinese place that rebranded itself during the pandemic and re-opened with higher prices but the same food. The Fried Rice has so much soy sauce on it they should call it brown rice. No eggs, carrots, onions or anything else mixed in. And the chicken is not tender like marinated chicken should be, it's crunchy and has way too much breading. Despite all COVID Restrictions being lifted in our community, you can't even go inside to order take out or dine in. You have to call ahead or order from your vehicle and give your credit card number over the phone, a very unsafe practice. The food was excellent but the service was amazing!! We came in with a large group (7 adults, 2 kids and a baby) and they were able to accommodate our group with ease. I would have given them five starts but our food didn't come out all together like they said it would. The guy checked on us often, made sure we had plenty of refills and when there was a mix up on our order made sure it was taken care of promptly. The food tasted great. Always a great go to for Chinese. They are also one of the few Chinese places open on Sunday. Their chicken is always cooked to perfection. Great hearty egg rolls and crab rangoons. China Wok is good. I live nearby so I eat here frequently. This is probably some of the best fried rice I have had. The thing I like is that on any menu item you can change the heat level. This is a little hidden secret. You can order online and special instructions you can make each item unique to your taste. Some things on the menu are not so memorable. With that being said I have not found anything I would consider bad. As an added bonus they deliver and are open on Sundays! This is uncommon for Chinese restaurants in the area. read more

We ordered online for delivery as our normal place was closed for labor day weekend and I was very excited as the place has some good reviews. What we got today was awful. Let me say first the lady who called us to confirm our order as their online system was having issues was very nice and professional, and our driver got here sooner than the hour time quoted. I got the almond chicken, wontons and wonton soup. The soup was awful. I was given no crispy things like other places, the pork in it was flavorless and tough to chew, and so I settled for dipping my wontons in the soup (wontons were fine) and then tossing the soup as the wontons in the soup were dissolved and fallen apart. My almond chicken was disgusting. The chicken was fatty with a weird texture, and the vegetables were hard like they were raw and not fully cooked. I threw my meal out. My boyfriend got the beef and broccoli and the beef was hard to chew and the meal was more onion and beef than broccoli. I will not be eating there for a long time if ever again. read more

The gravy was good and thick, and they added green onions and cashews. The chicken was very juicy and amazing! The combo also comes with a fairly large portion of rice, and you may choose between 1 egg roll, or 3 crab rangoons, or 6 wontons. Just the regular size meal was enough to fill me up, but they also offer a larger meal. Pro tip: download the app they are advertising! My son and daughter really like Chinese food, but I am not a fan. MSG and I don't agree. They talked me into going here, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. We dined in the first time, but I wouldn't recommend it. This place is always busy, which says a lot, but 99% of the business is take-out, which also says a lot. I have eaten their sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, beef lo-mein, egg rolls, pot stickers and won-tons, and I have really enjoyed them all, except for the won-tons. The fact that the food didn't beat us to the table after we ordered was a good sign that these dishes are actually prepared, rather than scooped out of pre-loaded bins. I will never say "yay! Been to this place hundreds of times over the years. My wife ordered this for delivery the other night. She ordered it in advance for 530pm delivery on Sunday night. The online order worked fine. Then at 420pm with some members of our family an hour away, and other members of our family in the shower the delivery guy shows up. My wife explains to him that this is over an hour early. He tried to say that they don't even look at delivery times they just deliver it when they get it. No apology, nothing. She then showed him the receipt where it said in big bold letters 530pm delivery. Still no apology. We also paid for extra pot sticker sauce and didn't get it either. I live less than a mile from the restaurant. They tell me it's going to take 45 minutes to an hour to deliver. 15 minutes later I get a text saying it will be ready "momentarily". About an hour later I call. They say it's coming. EVERYTHING was ice cold upon arrival. I call to complain and they say there's nothing they can do. They need to wait for the manager to return. They call back and again say there is nothing they can do. They actually said they would rather lose a good customer than address my complaint. Never will I order from here again.
