I have discovered that Swedish does not handle the billing for emergency room Doctors, Physician Assistants, or Nurse Practitioners. The billing service is performed by an unrelated entity called "Seattle Emergency Physicians Services." PROBLEM: I have never received any billing statement or detailed invoice from you; please email both to me. I've already reached my out-of-pocket maximum for 2025, so I shouldn't be responsible for any medical costs related to my emergency room visit. HORRIBLE PATIENT EXPERIENCE Since I have never received any billing from your office, I do not have (1) a client number or (2) an account number when I tried to set up my profile and provide you with my medical insurance information. (See pasted copy of your website below) This is completely unacceptable. Why wasn't my personal and insurance information provided to your office by Swedish Medical? As a responsible person, I have spent countless hours trying to ensure all my medical bills are paid. Swedish Medical provided me with different phone numbers for "Seattle Emergency Physicians Services." I kept calling and was on hold for over an hour each time. I spent three hours at various Swedish Medical facilities (Broadway and Cherry Hill locations), but no one there could help me. I was told again to contact your office. Now, I am on the phone, waiting once more for someone to answer. Swedish Medical and Seattle Emergency Physicians Services should be ashamed! How could a disabled or elderly person navigate this extremely fragmented and poor-quality billing service?

My mother was admitted here with a broke tibia. She needed surgery but because of her age and…read moredementia it was going to be tough go for her. Her nurses and the doctors were very attentive and communicative throughout and the surgery went well. Unfortunately she has had multiple health issues over the last few years, and with her dementia we weren't surprised when she didn't fully recover from the anesthesia. In the end she passed away, with all of us there. The doctors and nurses were able supportive without being intrusive. It was clear that they cared and were upset that they had somebody under their care pass away. We do not blame them as many might when losing a loved one in a hospital, for we knew that her dementia had just taken so much from her and that in the end we knew she had just decided that she had enough and was ready to move on. Losing your mother is a terrible experience. Explaining to your father who also has dementia that his wife is gone, over and over, is just soul crushing. The staff at UW were very comforting and helpful and of this terrible situation this was the only light that was visible during this tragedy.

We started off with her in a hospital in a city approx. an hour north of Seattle where they placed her in the ICU awaiting a bed at UW. She was there nearly a week before finally getting a bed. That hospital cared for her, but they really didn't have the resources to manage the depth of the medical trauma she was in and sadly the day she was transferred was the last we ever were able to share communication in a normal capacity. (We did not know things were that bad at this point.) And yes, I'm going to be intentionally vague in some places regarding the medical history. She arrived around 11pm on Thursday. The EMTs called to let us know she safely arrived and that the hospital staff was getting her set up. The following morning we called the number provided to see what time visiting hours were or how that was set up. Once we finally were able to reach a doctor, we were advised she was on a feeding tube and unable to communicate, that things had taken a turn for the worst and we should get there immediately. Why WE had to call them rather than the other way around is wild. We should have been informed of the rapid decline immediately because we would have rushed sooner. We high tailed it to Seattle, parked and entered the construction maze that is Montlake. It's a hike from the parking garage to the ICU and once inside you're asked to wear a mask, a gown, and gloves for patient safety. We met with the attending doctor who explained the decline in condition, how that may have happened and were apologized to regarding the lack of communication. We made it clear whom to contact when and thankfully got that cleared up. Spent the whole day in the ICU and went back to sleep as only one person can stay overnight. The next morning we arrived super early and conditions had worsened. We had the hard conversations with the doctors regarding doing nothing, middle of the road, or aggressive treatment that could potentially make things worse. We asked for middle of the road and received detailed explanation as to what that meant. The following morning we called early to check on her status and were told they pulled her feeding tube. We had NOT agreed to that and were incredibly upset when we arrived. We had 3 different doctors in a private room explaining to us that it was in her best interest, but no real explanation as to why they didn't inform us that was necessary or that it was happening. Again with the lack of communication entirely. This is literally a life and death situation, which is clearly something they experience regularly daily and I'm baffled at the inability to communicate with the living relatives something so critical to share. We stayed late that night so she wouldn't be alone. The nurse told us we could leave because she probably only had hours left and this wouldn't be something we would want to witness. So we said our goodbyes and left expecting to get a call shortly about her passing. The next morning we wake early, no calls had been made. We called the hospital and found out she was still going so we rushed down to spend the day with her. She lived another 24 hours. We're thankful we had that time even though she was not able to see move or communicate with us. It's a heart wrenching place to be in and nobody is having a good time. The doctors and nurses all were very compassionate and take great care of their patients from what we experienced. Our big issue was the lack of communication.

It had a comfortable bed and clean restroom. And the thermostat was controllable (I usually like my room very cold at around 62 degrees or so). The nurses were extremely helpful and I have to give each of them a shout out! Noelle, Derek, and Jessica. I was not planning to be a difficult patient but I felt like I kind of came one unfortunately. I was in extreme pain from time to time and I couldnt always stay chill and cool. The nurses were quick to understand my needs without me having to speak too much or too loudly (I had a bit of trouble with after the surgery). They really went out of their way to help with my specific needs. The food wasn't bad but it just felt like food that used to be served on airplane back in the day. Compared to hospitals like Overlake, VM could really step up in this department! Also the administrative staff seemed a bit confused and disorganized. However, there is one main person (Kristina) that coordinated and resolved all the loose ends for me and she was extremely helpful. Overall, I felt well taken of care of at Virginia Mason and the surgery went well. Huge thanks to Dr. Sternbach and his surgical team. Check out the view from my room!

Just recently my wife's primary care provider pulled back from full-time work. Because she wasn't completely off the payroll, according to the MBAs and accountants, she was not offered an MD, PA, or ARNP as a replacement...only the choice of 1 of 4 residents. We will, with sadness, both be leaving. VIRGINIA MASON IS BROKEN. STAY AWAY!

It's not the closest to me but I will gladly go to them moving forward for all anesthesia testing. The office staff was great, they took care or kept an eye on my father for me as well. My only complaint is the discharge was not what I'm used to, it worked out in the end but in a normal situation this would've lowered my score by a star, for me it was great but if it was a loved one it would not have been.

My experience with the providers has generally been positive, but operationally Optum is a mess…read more Since they did away with having admin staff at the clinic desks, you can't schedule follow up appointments on check out. They are supposed to call you to schedule, but they never do and then it's impossible to get whatever random scheduler answers when you call to actually take care of your scheduling needs. Studies have shown that when you schedule patients before they leave the office, around 75% of them follow up for necessary care. When you have a post-visit phone call system (like the Polyclinic now uses), that number drops to about 50%. If Polyclinic actually cared about their patients getting the care they need, they wouldn't have scrapped in office schedulers to save money.

Need regular infusions to not become anemic and die and the first couple months were fine. Find out something important I needed to inform them about and felt a 5 minute zoom call would get across what texting them wasn't and was basically told without being told by the ARNP (I never met "my doctor") that I was assigned that it was a waste of their time and needed to stick to MyChart. Wasn't happy but they're busy, I'm not at immediate risk so... Okay. That was in June or July when they scheduled me for a bunch of infusions to then do labs and see where things were at and how to go forward in September. And they did. But since September I've heard nothing. I had to send them a note to remind them I had an infusion they wanted coming up in October and no response except a scheduling call that was panicked and last minute on their end and get my October labs and infusion. No messages about the lab results or their plans going forward. No calls from scheduling. No infusion this month because I'm not their babysitter and it's clear they don't care. I'm sure reminders pop up in their system. So if you're really sick maybe you'll get adequate care and not be ghosted for 2 months and have to take over their scheduling reminders for them and if you end up in the infusion center you'll be treated really well. But honestly I wouldn't take the chance.

At that time we begged for surgery and radiation but they always refused because their results were indeterminate. They waited and waited until it was way too late to do anything. After the cancer had metastasized the oncologist admitted that their last biopsy was a fail, they did not take a big enough sample. They had no trials or anything else to offer her. They told us to go elsewhere. After that we tried MDAnderson and City of Hope, but they told us it was too late. I feel that had we went to a quality hospital first her chances would have been astronomically better.

I'm adding this review for another experience. My two kids have been coming here since birth on the recommendation of a friend. At this point, I think we've seen all of the doctors and had excellent medical care. My concerns are listened to with kindness, empathy, and understanding. Everything is explained in a respectful way. We've been there for colds, viruses, alllllll the Covid tests during the pandemic, broken bones, pneumonia, mental health concerns, and more complicated problems. There is an in-house xray machine, radiologist, bloodwood, vaccine clinic, and probably more. The front desk staff have been friendly. The lobby and medical rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is easy access and we love grabbing lunch or coffee after a doctor's appointment.

I walked in on a Thursday…read moreafternoon for severe acute low back pain related to a previous injury and they were able to see me right away. The nurses and doctor (Seleina, Ben, and Dr Weaver) that treated me were extremely kind and genuinely cared about me and my well being. Although I hope I never have to go back to the ER, if I did have to, I would return to this one!
