If you're thinking about re-doing your floors and/or walls, The Works Floor and Wall has got to be the place for you. As you will see below, they do wonderful work, with great materials and products. The result will 1- make your home more a more enjoyable place to live and 2- add value to your investment. The first time we used The Works Floor and Wall (TWFaW) was 3 1/2 years ago when we purchased our home and had to get rid of some of the prior owners' tile in the kitchen and master bathroom. Charles was most helpful. From photos on my phone, he was able to provide suggestions and alternatives. We were provided with samples to take home so our decision process was easy and fool proof. Michael followed quickly thereafter to measure. The crew was prompt, courteous clean and most importantly worked methodically and completed the work expertly. When the time came to re-do all the floors (ex. carpeted bedrooms) and the fireplace, we went straight back to TWFaW. Charles remembered us and greeted us warmly. We described the work we were contemplating and again provided images on my phone. As the floors we were replacing were all tile, Charles suggested a composite material that would be "floated" over the existing floor vs. jackhammering out the old floor. Tile removal is expensive, time consuming, requires that you vacate your home for several days (even greater expense) and no matter how well covered or sealed other rooms may be, results in a dusty condition requiring long and involved clean up time. We looked over the various styles and designs of these "snap together" tiles, took some home and made our decision. After deciding on the floor tile, Charles showed us a ceramic tile for the fireplace. He was sure this would be what we were looking for. In the store, it looked pretty good so again we took samples home. At home it looked even better. Charles really knows his inventory and his clients' tastes. Of course, we agreed with Charles' suggestion for the fireplace. Soon thereafter Michael again visited to measure. Shortly thereafter the head of the installation department called to schedule a start date. The crew of six showed up on time and ready to work. The job took a full week. Each evening when they left, all materials were in the garage or neatly stacked in a corner of a room. There was minimal disruption and no rooms were ever inaccessible except when a room was being worked on (eg. kitchen, home office, bathrooms.) I cannot be any more satisfied with TWFaW from start to finish. Our floors look wonderful and add value to our home both from an aesthetic point of view as well as financially (well beyond the cost.) I needed to match some existing Travertine on a home I purchased recently. Given the fact that my home was built in 1989 I was a little weary that I may not find the match. Charles in the showroom was extremely helpful in helping me find the right product and even encouraged me to checkout some samples and make sure I got what I need , the price was awesome and the service was great. While on the topic I asked if they did floor cleaning and he pointed me in the direction to Mr. Mike Collins who came out and gave me a free estimate the next day. My home is about 6,000 square ft. and all the majority of the home is Travertine and all the baths are marble slabs. Mike was very thorough on his measurements as well as explaining the process and what he could do. I mentioned to him that I had obtained 2 more bids and would wait to hear from him. His price came back the fairest and his estimate the most thorough so I went with it. Went in here a while ago to buy tile. When the guy (wish I remembered his name, but I've seen him manning the booth for the store at the Home Expo show at the Convention Center). Anyway, when he learned I was only doing a master bathroom...and not a whole house...and then when he learned that they would not be installing but that my contractor would...he lost all interest in helping me at all and walked away. I had also given him my contact info because there was a faucet I as very interested in that I saw in a catalog in their showroom....never heard from him on that either. While I originally just wanted it to be retiled, they suggested a triple layer waterproof flooring solution, and it looks and works totally awesome. The three workers spent nearly 4 days doing the extensive work. They were professional, always left a clean workplace, showed up on time, and talked me through some of their work. We were doubling our office space and needed new carpet to flow throughout the entire office. We stopped by The Works Floor and Wall and Charles was able to direct us to carpet that would fit our budget (we are just renters so did not want to spend too much). We picked the carpet and he sent someone out to measure. Later that day we had our quote and were ready to go. Did I mention we needed it done in a week or so as we had our most important client visiting our new space for the first time? The installers were right on time and so professional. There were a few pieces of large furniture that I could not move myself and they insisted that they do it for me without my help. All the old carpet was quickly removed and they began to prepare for the new carpet and pad. They worked very quickly and by early afternoon they were done. They were short a few pieces of molding and came in first thing Saturday morning to install them so we would be ready for our Monday meeting. Throughout the process we were in touch with Michael Collins, one of the owners and he came by when the job was done to make sure we were satisfied. What is going on with this company??? I had a very good sales and installation experience. Now after months since the job was complete they have come back and asked me for around $1k additional payment...not any request at installation, as with other flooring companies I have worked with. The first I heard from them was this week (although they claimed to have contacted me previously??) and they are now saying I am seriously delinquent on some billing they claim to have sent end of December 2013 - never ever received it! So, I am a part time Palm Springs resident and explained many times in emails to this company's controller that I do not recall owing additional but I would like to check my initial order paperwork before shelling out another $1k - never saying I will not pay it but rather I need to review the paperwork, which is in Palm Springs and I am in LA, prior to making any additional payment. Their controller is now going off on me via email and making all kinds of threats. Cannot understand this type of business operations? STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! read more
