My sisters and I went to lunch today to celebrate my sister's birthday. We placed our order and chatted for a while. After some time had passed, we were told that there had been a problem with our order and it was delayed. When it came, we had the vegetable pasta with chicken, a vegetable pasta with mahi-mahi and a steak hoagie. The food was very good. The staff were excellent in follow up and service recovery. Complimentary dessert and song completed our meal. We took home some wonderful pizza to our husbands . We will be back. read more

They have an actual train car you can eat in which is so cool. We were seated in the main dining room which had plenty of space and views of the TVs at the bar. The pizza menu was large and so was the beer list. We were all able to find something to enjoy. The pizza has good flavor and was cooked well. read more

Kudos to The Works staff for being so swamped with customers on Homecoming evening yet still giving great service. I was in a large group of bike riders today that stopped for dinner after riding the Loveland trail. Staff got our group seated and fed in a timely manner and we appreciated it greatly even if we couldn't all sit together. Our server Greg was great. Very nice and attentive. My table of 4 all enjoyed our food. I got a small Margherita pizza and it was FANTASTIC. Fresh tomato and basil gave flavor in every bite. The crust was perfection I will definitely order that again. Hubs got a steak hoagie. Said it was good but he was eyeballing our friend's Mahi sandwiches which looked grilled to perfection. They loved it. If I could offer one suggestion though to staff, there was quite a lot of cob webs on the window inside and outside our table. We sat at the first table to the left of the doorway going into the main dining room. And there was quite a bit of dust on the light chain in the bathroom and very smeared mirrors. The paper towel dispenser was not working either but the toilet was clean! $30 for a large pizza of this caliber is a bit much . Now, the pizza isn't bad, I just feel there could be others seen as a better option for the price but it is decent . We as a group had a Commish pizza, couple salads, and a gourmet grilled cheese - the grilled cheese looked fantastic . Service wasnt bad, a bit understaffed given the turnout . This gave us less of a attentive waiter but given circumstances it wasn't bad . Ambiance is very low key casual . Nothing dramatically surprising . read more

There is a new one in Covington. Nice and big with outdoor seating. The waiter explained how they use a rotating brick oven to evenly cook their pizza. The food came quickly. Drinks were refilled quickly. We tried fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and a hot honey pizza. The garlic sticks that come with the pasta were so soft and delicious. Pasta was amazing! 3 stars -- It was fine, just not a standout. We visited on a beautiful mid-summer day, and overall the experience was... okay. The pizza was decent but nothing memorable, and the bar area lacked ambiance. I appreciate the historic Water Works building and the nod to its heritage, but the space felt more big and industrial than warm or inviting. Service was fine, food was fine -- just not enough to make it a must-return spot for us. We might come back eventually, but it's not high on our list. The Works Brick Oven Restaurant is a fun, little place for pizza in an old railroad station. We recently went on a early weekday evening and they weren't crowded at all. Service was pretty good and they had an interesting selection of pizzas. Our table split the taco pizza and the mashed potato pizza, which were pretty good but the pizza fries were the hit of the night! I'll start with the good: this place is super cool-situated right in downtown Loveland. The building is a converted firehouse with a train car with additional seating. Our server was sweet and brought out our drinks quickly. We are not from the area, and literally chose this place based on the fact they had reviews mentioning the availability of gluten free options. So here's why the review is not glowing: We told our server we were gluten free, ordered spinach artichoke dip and a buffalo chicken pizza on gluten free crust. The menu specifically mentioned the choice of breaded or grilled chicken (clearly we opted for grilled). The spin dip came out with the mentioned tortilla chips-which were fried flour tortillas, which we couldn't eat. We were offered celery as a replacement and declined, so she brought a cup so we could take the dip to go. Not ideal-but maybe we should have clarified if they were actual corn tortilla chips-she actually had to check with the kitchen when we asked because she had no idea if they were flour or corn. Then our pizza came out and we started eating. About a piece in, I notice the chicken was breaded. When we asked our server about this, she said "let me get the manager". The general manager came over and was somewhat apologetic, but instead of saying that she was sorry, she kept saying how the buffalo chicken comes with breaded chicken. Ok cool, but your menu states it comes with the option of grilled which is what we wanted. She offered to get us something else but after 2 gluten dishes were presented to us and we were the ones that had to discover they were gluten, we had no confidence in the knowledge of the staff on allergens. I told her we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. She comped the food and drinks and we left. So maybe their food is good, but it's not good for people with food allergies. I would suggest additional allergen protocol training. read more

With only a 3.5 rating on Yelp, I went here not expecting much and was still a little disappointed. Our server did a great job, but the food was just underwhelming. Our table split the pizza fries, a potato pizza, and a taco pizza. I didn't really enjoy any of the dishes but the rest of the table liked the fries. Our server was anything but friendly. Never smiled or said a pleasant word. The person with me enjoyed their Italian hoagie, said it was really good. My lunch however was nasty. Had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. I have never tastes tomato soup like that and hope I don't again. The grilled cheese had uncooked bacon , it had never seen a grill. Came here for lunch with my work team on a weekday and really enjoyed the food and the service. My coworkers all got calzones, which come with a side and marinara dipping sauce. They were very happy with them. I got a side garden salad and a small pizza and really enjoyed both of them. The only downside is that this was a very pricey lunch. I have visited three times since the new owners took over and, each time, I have been shocked at the sparse toppings on our pizzas. Service--well, when outside we had the bee attack ramping up and our server was inside at her other tables. (My friend and I only ones seated on patio.) When we decided we didn't want to be stung, we went inside, found a server, and were seated indoors. When I mentioned the bees, the new server expressed being aware. service was great and we were sat right away on a friday at 1! parking was a little hard but that is always the case. we started with the appetizer sampler and it was pretty good. it was pretty large which was nice and the mozz sticks were the tables favorite. everything was fried. overall 8/10. we also all got drinks and i got the blueberry mojito that was not super good. tasted like blueberry water. probably would give 4/10. for lunch i got the works pizza with bacon instead of pepperoni and a side of ranch. it was pretty tasty and very filling! would get again and the ranch was so yummy i could drink. our friends got the chicken bianca and would rank it 7/10. my husband got the bbq chicken pizza and said he probably wouldn't get again and the ratios were off. too much bbq not enough chicken. 6/10. read more

This location is perfect, we ate dinner then took a nice walk around downtown Loveland. The building is an old firehouse which is so cool. They even have a train where you can sometimes eat inside it. Since the weather was nice we had dinner outside. Food and service were great! read more

This was not my was first time there but it has been quite a few years since the last visit which is what is making feel the need to leave this review as much as I hate leaving negative comments. To start when we arrived we had to use the restroom which had two out of three lets call them units out of order and the third should have been condemned . Then we sat down for a drink and to have a few apps . Absolutely horrible , cold pizza , and it just got worse . 3.5 stars we went here for lunch on a friday afternoon. we got sat right away outside and started out with some drinks! the loveland frog was a hit, but the mojito just tasted like flavored water unfortunately. the appetizer we ordered was the sampler and it was delicious! my personal fave were the deep fried mac n cheese bites. for pizza we got the chicken bianca, and I would give it a 7/10. my husband didn't know it would be red-sauceless so he didn't enjoy it as much, but i still thought it was pretty tasty. We have been going here for awhile but this is the first time I rememberd to take a picture so it's my first review. The outside is really cool as it use to be an old train station house, I believe. There is a train car next to it which really adds ambience. The inside is also nice with wood floors and an upper class feel. They also have a bar area you can sit if you're coming alone. The pizza is fantastic and always high quality and loaded with toppings. They're also pretty big. Thus was a medium and myself and my mom only ate I think half. Also, the cheese fries are really great as well! The staff is always pleasant and always serve with a smile, atleast in my experience, but each experience can be different I suppose. Inside of this restaurant has not changed one bit over the past 21 years. Came here this past Saturday and ordered the Onion Ring appetizer and medium BBQ Chicken Pizza for our linch. First the waitress seemed like she just woke up from a deep sleep with a soft voice I could not hear! I saw that the onion Ring appetizer was $9.99, so I expected something special for that price , but what I got was a small order of onion rings that was not equal in quality,quality, or taste to an $2.99 order of same item from Frisch's Big Boy! The pizza had maybe 4-5 pieces of chicken on an eight piece pizza with an ultra sweet BBQ sauce I could have gotten from my local Krogers! Several months ago my sister, brother-in-law, mother, wife, and I ordered takeout from here at my sister's suggestion. It didn't take too long for us to receive a notification that the pizza was almost ready, so we drove over to it and picked it up. Though I haven't dined inside, the use of a train boxcar for additional seating seemed like a cool idea. We returned home with the goods, and quickly dug in. Now, I've had some amazing pizza before, but I've never had pizza that was flat-out bad. It's hard to go wrong with dough, sauce, and cheese. That said, this pizza ranked pretty low on the ladder. It was unflavorful. Run-of-the-mill. Pedestrian. I think I'd have been more satisfied with a slice from a national pizza chain like Domino's or Pizza Hut, which is definitely not what you want from a locally owned joint. If someone invited me to lunch here or had it at a party, I certainly wouldn't scoff, and I'd eat my fill, but I wouldn't be jumping with joy or crashing any parties to get a taste either. read more

Tonight I placed a to go order which included a large The Commish pizza. This is our favorite pizza and have always loved it. But tonight we were very disappointed. Which is very surprising. There was hardly no sausage or cheese. Normally the toppings are so thick you have to eat with a fork. But nope it was mostly crust. Situated right by the bike trail, this place is in the perfect location to go grab a bite to eat. Part of what makes The Works stand out is that it it has a unique history. While I was there, I learned that the building was once used as a firehouse. I was also surprised to find that it was also used as a public works facility. The history doesn't end there. Another interesting tidbit was that The Works is also home to an authentic Pullman Passenger car from 1921. If guests are interested, they can also book private parties on one of these cars named "The Crusader". After chowing down on a couple slices of pizza, it is always nice to stretch your legs on a long walk afterwards. There is a lively atmosphere to take in as you wait for you. HOWEVER.... the fettuccine Alfredo was awful! It was like they sprayed it with dishwater before they forgot to add seasoning.
