Stopped in around 2:30 PM on a Wednesday to check out The Yard after hearing good things from another cigar smoker. I specifically came looking for Foundation's David, which is something I can't find at my usual lounge. Unfortunately, the box was empty when I arrived, and several other selections appeared to be running low as well. The humidor is smaller and more limited than what I'm accustomed to, though it was clean, well-maintained, and the cigars appeared to be in excellent condition. Prices seemed fair and in line with other local cigar lounges. The atmosphere is very laid back and local. There were only a handful of patrons present, a mix of working professionals and retirees. Seating was comfortable, the lounge was clean, and the bartender stayed on top of housekeeping tasks like emptying ashtrays even while busy. That said, the overall experience felt somewhat unstructured. There were numerous televisions showing different programming simultaneously, no music that I could hear, and no obvious beer or whiskey menu. The beer selection appeared to consist of whatever could be identified from the tap handles and cans in the cooler. As a first-time visitor, I also found myself navigating the humidor alone. The staff were friendly, but a brief introduction or recommendation would have been appreciated. What I did appreciate was that The Yard doesn't seem to be trying to be something it's not. It feels like a relaxed neighborhood cigar lounge where regulars come to unwind rather than a destination built around a curated cigar and spirits experience. Would I come back? Yes. I'd like to see the lounge at a different time of day and with a few friends. My first impression wasn't quite enough to pull me away from my usual spot, but there was enough here to make me interested in giving it another visit. read more

Cigar prices are WAY UP. $14 for a mediocre stick. Overpriced. The staff lady could not have been less friendly. It's like she's never smiled in her life. Beer selection has also gone downhill. Glad they finally made the patio dog friendly, but based on the above it's not going to work. read more

Pleasant staff - very helpful. Indoors lounge with comfortable seats. Well organized cigar room with a wide variety, including great deals. Also there is a very clean outdoor loungin area. Dogs are welcome outdoors. They are not allowed indoors, so plan on tying your dog up while you make your cigar choice. Prices are competitive and range from $5.00 to expensive for premium brands. All major brands are stocked in a controlled environment. Nice location in a small but full strip mall. Highly recommended. read more

This is one of the coolest cigar lounge's you'll ever go to. The smallish indoor seating area is cozy and inviting with leather chairs near large windows looking out into the spacious outdoor area. There are outdoor games like cornhole to occupy your time in the blazing Arizona sun which is pretty nice in Winter I'm guessing. Personally, I raided the well-stocked humidor and planted my spacious butt on a barstool and enjoyed craft beer from the taps while I smoked my cigar. The ladies behind the bar were awesome. I'd have to say that this place is... okay. Seems a bit run down and a bit small. The humidor was a little smaller than some of the other bars/lounges I've been to. I was a little concerned about the temperature of the humidor as it was cooler and not as humid as it should be. The selection isn't too bad considering how small it is because they have the more popular brands. My wife liked the selection of the flavored cigars from South Beach. I'm on the fence about this place, but I'd give it another shot to see if I'm swayed one way or the other. read more

I decided to give this place a shot because it's closer to my house than my usual cigar spots. As I'm walking in I could see a nice looking outdoor area that is likely the place to be outside of summer however, I went on a day when it was 110 degrees so the indoor area was the the clear option for me. When I stepped inside the very first thing I noticed was how smokey the place was. The indoor area is in clear need of better smoke filtration/ventilation. The humidor has a small/picked over selection in comparison to other lounges/bars in the area. (On a side note, I was surprised to see what would normally be big selling brands at places a customer's eyes rarely go like the bottom of top shelves). The chairs were VERY comfortable. They were my favorite part of this experience. The bartender (if you can even call her a bartender) was on her cell phone when I went to pay for my cigar/buy a drink. I was standing directly in front of her and legitimately had to say something to her for her to look up from her phone and even then, she took time to finish what she was doing on her phone before serving me. The lounge was in need of a clean up (empty cups, full ash trays, ash on the ground/tables, etc...) yet the entire time I was there the bartender stayed on her phone vaping, rarely looking up. Not once did she walk by to ask if I'd like another drink. Typically I go to a lounge/bar 1-2 times per week and I'm usually good for 3-4 cigars and 2-3 beverages. At The Yard, I left after 1 cigar and 1 beer. A small lounge like The Yard naturally cannot carry the widest selection of cigars, they likely only have beer/wine, and won't have the fanciest furniture/decor.... so usually a successful lounge of this size will make up for those items by having outstanding customer service which is what keeps people coming back. Unfortunately, on Sunday 07/17 - The Yard had all of those short comings and the addition of the worst customer service in the area. I'd love to see this place succeed because I love the location and I love the potential of the place but they've got some things to work on. read more

This is a good local place to relax and enjoy a cigar. Staff and other customers are all friendly and welcoming. When I temporarily lived in the area I would work from here, WiFi is stable and fast. They have plenty of comfortable chairs, TVs, and even turn one of the TVs over to a video game if you want. Good selection of local beers on tap, and the staff is very helpful in letting you sample them and describe them for you. Nice walk-in humidor with ample selection. I debated how to rate this place, because if you know what you're getting I have no complaints. But there are definitely things I would love to see in order for this place to be better: offer a full bar, offer food, offer a pool table, more spread out seating...all things I've had at other places I frequented in other states. I definitely recommend this place though as a good local joint to hang out and enjoy a cigar and friendly conversation. read more
