Located in the heart of Downtown Chandler is Crust Simply Italian. Due to location, parking can be a challenge but thankfully a July Saturday around 12:30pm didn't prove to be that large of a challenge to locate. When we entered, we were advised to be seated wherever we liked with menus on a table to grab. Our server was over pretty quickly, and appreciated him offering an appetizer and entree suggestion. What We Ordered: - Cucumber Elderflower Spritz: I've been on a spritz kick since having one at the beginning of the year at Disney World. The perfect refreshing drink for a humid day after rain in July (2" in Apache Junction). Loved the cucumber and elderflower combination, and would definitely order again! - Shrimp Medina: The server recommended, and our favorite of the meal. The scampi butter with the heat of the red chili flakes was perfect. I'd honestly look to see if there is a pasta dish like this next time as that sounds like perfection. - La La Vodka: My friend ordered this, and said it was pretty good. She remarked how large it was and wish for a lunch portion that you could order half, but thankfully, we were heading back to her house after to be able to drop off leftovers. - Pasta Picante: This was recommended, but I wasn't all that fond of it. It was not really spicy, and I didn't like the sausage in the dish. It could have just been my preferences, but my friend ended up taking as leftovers her kids would enjoy. Overall, this place had both comfortable seating and comfort food. Italian is one of my favorite things to dine, and get that dopamine fix from pasta. Came here for happy hour! This is a known spot if you want some pizza and good service! Our server was great and we were immediately greeted & seated. Waiter took our orders and food came in on timely manner. Happy hour menu is not the greatest & has some limited options, cocktails & wine glasses will still ring you $10 instead of the normal $12+ so not crazy savings. Onto the food: Our calamari was great The bread rolls had so much oil on them the last roll was almost inedible. You would squeeze it and oil/butter would ooze out like crazy. Our pizza was good but the crust was very toasty, it would snap in half if we tried to bend it just a little to take a bite, maybe it was a one off for the crust being a bit burnt but just keep that in mind. We've stayed at the San Marcos for years and have always walked by Crust to and from the hotel as we walk around the cute downtown We finally stopped in for a graduation dinner and it was relatively good. We had some house wine, apps, and a mix of entrees and pizzas. I also tried the charcuterie board. The pizza was great! My husband got a dish with chicken and the chicken was awful! Paper thin and super chewy. Luckily the server was kind and helped us find something else too eat. I had quite the hang over the next day which I can only attribute the wine. Walked in at 5pm on a Friday for appetizers. We were seated immediately. There were a few groups seated at the bar and only 2 other parties seated at tables. There were misters going outside for parties that want to be outside. The AC was on inside and felt great. We ordered the bruschetta board (giardino, funghi, and carciofi) and the meatball appetizer. The appetizers took less than 10 minutes to come out. The meatballs were good! It came with 3 meatballs and 3 small corners of toasted bread. The ricotta under the meatballs was a great add to the plate. Overall, they were solid. The bruschetta was a swing and a miss. The funghi was quickly deemed our least favorite. We both took one bite and did not finish the rest. The carciofi was decent. Nothing special. The giardino was so simple that it was not memorable, and it was still our favorite anyway. I recently visited Crust Simply Italian with one of my closest friends. He was craving some Italian food, and he suggested this place. I am glad that he told me about it, because it is some of the best pizza I have ever had. When I arrived, I was there a good thirty minutes before the scheduled time for my friend and me to meet. The server greeted me warmly and was always making sure I had everything I needed while I waited. I informed her it would be a little bit before my friend arrived, and I appreciate how patient she was with me while I waited, so bonus points for that. When my friend arrived, we were served some drinks, and I decided only to have water, even though their mocktails sounded delicious. Next time I visit, I will have to give their mocktails a shot. My friend suggested getting the Sweet Little 'Roni pizza, and it was fantastic. I also liked how they split the pizza in half so my friend and I could have four slices each. The Sweet Little 'Roni pizza was an excellent choice. I feel like honey is an underrated pizza topping. It can be delicious when it is with the right combinations. I also like the atmosphere. It feels like you are in Italy, and I like that they have a bar area where you can watch TV, even if there are no sports available. This is my first time trying their cocktails, if you love a strawberry sprite spritz type of cocktail.. the Sorry, not sorry is so good and not too strong! My wife and I have enjoyed going to Crust in Scottsdale over the years while ordering food to go. Today, I tried Crust in Chandler with my work colleagues as I ordered a 20 inch pizza to go. Similar to what I have done in Scottsdale, I spent some time at the bar while waiting for my order to be ready. Most of the time, I have ordered food in advance so it was ready when I pulled up. Today, I ordered a pizza online to be ready at a certain time; however, as I arrived well before that time, the team in the kitchen did a wonderful job preparing it to be ready more than ten minutes before the original time. The staff were wonderful, and I am glad I stopped by this location today as the restaurant has great reviews and delicious food! The twenty-inch pizzas were large and delicious whether the New York or Margherita pizzas, which I have ordered both before. I have also shared a salad with my wife whether the Caesar (romaine, parmesan, and croutons) or Mediterranean Farm Salad (farro, field greens, roasted artichokes, cucumber, tomato, pickled red onion, feta, and house vinaigrette). Today, I only ordered a 20 inch New York pizza with pepperoni. It was huge, filling, and delicious! There are three locations at this point in time. There is "Chandler and the Ostrich," "Gilbert and the Blue Heron," and then "Scottsdale and the Goose." By going to https://crustrestaurants.com, you can get on the waitlist for any of the locations. The Chandler location is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM, and on Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM. On weekdays from 3 PM to 6 PM, there are Happy Hour deals. On Sundays and Mondays, there are $15 NY Pie To Go deals while on Mondays, there are also half priced wine bottles all day. This is a pretty hard review for me to give and here's why. Because the restaurant name indicates Italian food is served here. I was not impressed by any means with my fettuccine Alfredo. The sauce was bland and that is not something that you can look past on this specific dish. Unfortunately, this was the only Italian dish that I tried from there so I feel like in order for me to be fair. I will go back and try something else and update my review at that time. With that being said, I still give this place five stars based on all of the below. Now for the good part! The Sicilian style pizza is freaking amazing! I'm sure you want details about this so here it is the pizza dough is so light and airy with a crispy crust, the crust is fantastic cannot even emphasize this enough. I'm telling you the airiness of this. Pizza just doesn't even make sense, but it works and you should have some. Here's a little note about our appetizer we ordered calamari. The breading was great. The calamari was slightly overcooked, but overall it was good. The location is awesome! Our table was located just beyond the double doors and made for a very lovely ambience. I would say the lighting is perfect. The outdoor scenery made the experience even better. We had great food at this location. We stopped by on a Sunday for an early dinner and it wasn't relatively busy. The hostess was not at the stand when we walked up to the door but she quickly ran over to us and said to pick a table. We picked a table inside and she dropped off the menus. We looked them over and our server then came over and said hi. She brought us waters and we then ordered our food. We ordered: Calamari Meet Lasagna Supreme pizza The calamari was delicious. It was crispy, well seasoned, and it came out HOT. The lasagna was also delicious and very meaty. The cheese was gooey and the sauce was well seasoned. The bread it was served with was warm and soft. The pizza was huge and had plenty of toppings on top. I wasn't much of a fan as I felt like it had no flavor? Our waters sat empty for a bit and when we needed our server for condiments she was MIA. I was staying at the crowne plaza hotel and this is pretty much right outside the lobby of the hotel. I ordered to go so I didn't really experience service however the place has very open seating and nice decor. The bar is a nice size and tons of TVs to catch sports. I ordered an appetizer entree and dessert to eat back at my room. When I got to my room I had found my whole order was wrong. I called the restaurant spoke with the manager and they painlessly made it right. They allowed me to keep the food they made in error and put a rush on my order. The food was very yummy. The dessert was their chocolate peanut butter cake and I wasn't a fan. Inside was literally a cup of peanut butter. The bruschetta sampler was on point tho! Oh and the manager gave me a $15 gift certificate for the hassle. Very nice people. Would go again to try dine in! read more

I've been wanting to try this place out, unfortunately I only tried their drinks and appetizers so I'll have to go back soon. Their spicy garlic knots are to die for so definitely recommend those for your appetizer. We also got the trio bruschetta (but I subbed out the original one for an extra artichoke). They were sort of like a paste on top (not chunky like most) I liked the artichoke one but I won't be getting them again. As for the drinks we got the blonde bombshell paloma (I recommend) and also the limoncello martini, (hated it so much) I'm typically and lemon drop kind of girl so any lemon drink is my go to but I couldn't even drink this one. I passed it off on my friend so she could try to get it down. So that's why I did a 4 star review. Stopped by for a bite to eat and we were seated very quickly even though it appeared to be a very busy evening. Hostesses did a very good job squeezing us in. This has always been a quaint place to stop by and get a good glass of wine. We both had a salad which was very good and ordered a pizza which we had never tried. They both were awesome but the pizza came out too fast and got cold before we could finish it. That caused it to be a little soggy and cold. All in all it was still very good. I met up with some friends for brunch on a Saturday. It was like 5 till they opened at 11am. They opened the door to me even though it wasn't time. When we got there we told it would only be a few minutes while a party of ten was told they should take a walk around the neighborhood because it might be a while. 5 minutes later another person came out and said they had rearranged the tables so they could come in and we were told it might be a while. They then suggested we go to the Speakeasy. So we thought that might be kinda cool and did. There we were given the choice of a tiny high top or a very large coffee table surrounded by couches. Neither were very comfortable for dinner. Drinks maybe. Diner, not. Anyway we sat at the high top with the uncomfortable bar stools and ordered our dinner. We started with a small pizza. The sweet little roni. A pizza with a ricotta base and pepperoni sandwich style slices and some honey. It would probably been much better if it had arrived hot but it was more like room temperature when it hit our table. The cheese had already hardened and the crust was soggy from the steam condensed on the board it was served on. Maybe if it didn't have to travel between floors with only one runner. For a pizza place you would think they'd have some grated cheese and peppers on the table. And a New York pizza place some garlic and oreganoThey did bring cheese when asked. Next we got our dinners. For an Italian restaurant named Crust you would think that you might get some bread and a cup of soup or a small dinner salad with your entree but not here. But your dinner does come with a roll. A good but cold roll. No butter or oil. My wife ordered the shrimp on angel hair pasta. Basically a shrimp scampi but not in a separate dish. Her food was cold. The pasta was good but had very little butter or garlic. The few shrimp were slightly mushy and not very firm. Overdone would have been better. Done right would have been far better. I had the Chicken Marsala. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly and tasted very good. The Marsala was good but could have had more salt butter and garlic in it. None of which was on the table and the only time the server asked how our food was is when it was put on the table. We were still busy moving it around so it would fit and we were in a position to eat it. If you're getting a drink or two and maybe a pizza then the basement might be the place to be. If not stick to the dinning room upstairs. read more

My wife and I had a reservation at Crust Simply Italian in Gilbert. We were seated, but after sitting at our table for over 20 minutes, no one greeted us, offered water, or took our order. During that time, a group of white customers who were seated after us were helped almost immediately and received full service. After watching this happen and still being ignored, we decided to leave. Based on this experience, we felt singled out and disrespected, and it raised serious concerns for us about how Asian customers are treated here. We split a margarita pizza appetizer, I had the fettuccini Alfredo , and then we split tiramisu for desert. Chris our server was so quick prompt and kind he got to the table so we could order in time to make happy hour. The food was delicious ( the dessert was incredible ). I really do like this place, but having been there this time on a Wednesday afternoon I have to say it could have been better. I had reservations at 5, was seated right away where we wanted. Waited for service while watching my server stand outside. The place is beautuful with outside seating and plenty of indoor seating. The blackberry mule is a really nice taste and I ordered the spicy garlic knots that were really flavorful. The bruschetta with Angel hair and grilled chicken was a bit bland, I asked for extra cups of pesto sauce for flavor. All in all, not bad for an early evening dinner. I made an online pickup order from here on Friday evening for 2 pizzas and meatballs. My order was ready within the given timeframe of 20-25 mins! I have had the slice of pizza and meatballs from the late night menu at The Ostrich and thought it was good. Close parking around the area is tough on the weekends but I was able to grab a close 5min parking spot on the side. My order: Meatball appetizer $13 - was $12.50. Comes with 4, some bread & side of marinara. It was a bit salty this time 20" Palermo $29 - there's very little chicken for the price and the bottom was a tad soggy but I still liked it 20" Supreme $29 - ordered this 1/2 without cheese because one person can't eat cheese. For the most part, it was but she tasted a few bits after taking a bite of one slice and looked for something else to eat. The other person who does eat cheese said the pizza was good Im sure the pizzas would've been much better eaten at the restaurant. The pizzas are huge! They only have one size. Crust simply italian is absolutely wonderful! I dined there for lunch, very spacious and hip. I enjoyed the Caesar salad, it's big enough for two people to share. The buratta appetizer was next level delicious! Lots of buratta and italian meats. I also got the meatballs, great flavors. Darrin gave us the VIP treatment, the entire staff was very friendly.
