I literally feel like a 400 pound man everytime I go here but it is so worth it Milkshakes are so good.

I'm currently sitting at The Yard Milkshake Bar feeling some kind of way. When my husband and I walked in, we weren't greeted until we got to the register. We placed our orders and I went to the restroom. When I came out, I sat next to my husband and started people watching. Now I'm not the type to play the race card, but I will in this case. I noticed when a non black couple/family walked in the door, the staff greeted them. When a black couple walked in, the staff watched them walk in and didn't say one word. I can't believe it's 2022 and this mess is still happening. Needless to say, I will not be back. Oh yeah, the ice cream is good, Customer Service, not so much! read more

Great ice cream with lots of great flavors. Staff is super friendly. Tried lots of flavors and all were delicious. A bit pricey but you also get A LOT of ice cream enough for a meal! Patio was cool even in Texas summer as it was shaded, near trees, and had several fans. Definitely want to come back! read more

Very good place overall for the fat kids in all of us LOL!! Family of five here and we all wanted some ice cream and I've wanted to try this place for awhile so out we go on a Sat evening in Georgetown, TX. Ice cream was excellent, it has its own individual taste and can satisfy most individuals, except unless you're into super crazy ice cream flavors, taste buds. Good atmosphere and great concept, actually kinda ticked that I didn't come up with it myself, to take the family out for some dessert fun! Now I will say, if you get the themed milkshakes in the Mason jar, it gets expensive quick LOL but of course it does get expensive anywhere you go with a family of 5. So 1-Cosmic brownie 1-salted caramel shake 1-neapolitan shake and 2 scoops for the little ones, oh and the lid for the Mason jar, added up to 46 bucks roughly with 15 percent tip. So make sure to look at the menu first so you can have a gameplan, if you're on a budget like we usually are. If you can't make up your mind, then there are several recipes with cool names and ingredients, so you don't have to rack your brain making a choice. The praline combination is nice and chunky, and we ordered ours in the souvenir jars. It looks small at first, but we found it to be quite filling...and rich! So fun. My daughter and I went on a BFF ice cream date and couldn't be more pleased. Harry Potter style butter beer that was unexpectedly amazing. Extras included a chocolate frog that was gold dusted and filled with rich gooey caramel and a chocolate dipped pretzel stick. My BFF got the unicorn that was equally amazing. 10/10 going back. I love the yard! I've been to the location in Austin but it was my first time here. They serving size is large and you can definitely share it. We got the S'more than a Feeling and Peanut Butter Brownie Bliss. The staff was kind and welcoming. The Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle ice cream is absolutely phenomenal! They give out generous scoops even for the calf size (see photo). Their claim to fame is milkshakes, but they have loads of fun, interesting ice cream flavors to have in a cup or cone, too. They have a decent covered patio with a handful of tables. I went tonight for the first time and was served by the manager, Allison. She was the most bubbly, sweet, patient person in the world! When I first walked in there was a family trying to figure out how it works and she gave everyone in the store instructions on all the different ways you can get stuff. I didn't know what to get, I just said something with bananas, and she let me try a few flavor combos until I finally picked one totally unrelated. She never rushed me the whole time and even suggested a pup cup for my dog which he loved! The outdoor patio has a dog bowl and it's just a nice place to enjoy a warm evening. Wow! So I've been meaning to find one of these ever since I saw the pitch on Shark Tank. I've know about the Georgetown location for awhile, just never had a chance to go until recently. I was not disappointed. The staff was so friendly as soon as I walked in. They were so willing and eager to answer any questions I had about anything on the menu. On our way back from Austin, my wife and I decided to stop at The Yard Milkshake Bar on our way home from celebrating her birthday. There was a line of people all the way out the door but it went by fairly quickly. As we were waiting to order, there was a young man outside greeting everyone, making sure everyone was 6 feet apart and answering any questions about the menu. There are two menus. One for the shakes and the other for more ice cream choices. Once we got inside the store to order, I noticed that the atmosphere smelled very clean but wish there were seating inside. I felt a little weird standing up in line next to a family that was seated trying to enjoy their treats. I got the cookie dough delicious shake and my wife got the vegan milkshake option. She was very excited to see all of their vegan options. After we ordered, we found a seat on the patio and waited for them to bring out our shakes. Both shakes were AMAZING! Pictures don't do it any justice. We will definitely be going back to try this place again. I wish there was one closer to Temple, TX, but that 40 minute drive is worth it. *Do NOT eat a big meal before coming here! read more

Very crowded inside, especially with things happening right now there needs to be some cut back on how many people are in line/dining in. Credit card machine not wiped off after being used, tables not being cleaned off. Menus are not throw away and are not wiped off. I really regret staying and should've trusted my gut. But... We had the unicorn milkshake and the birthday cake milkshake. While the ice cream was really good the cupcake wasn't homemade. Tastes like a store bought cupcake with the fake icing. Won't be getting that if we go back. Hopefully they step up their Covid protocols. I won't be recommending them until they do. read more

My husband and I recently moved to Georgetown from Las Vegas and found this place to be a better version of Black Tap milkshakes. The toppings on the milkshakes were delectable and the ice cream in the milkshakes themselves was delicious. They have an absolutely huge selection of ice creams, cookie doughs, and other tasty desserts. For those complaining the toppings were "stale" I think they don't understand in order to maintain the integrity of the top of the shake, the items can't be super soft. If you don't like that, don't get those types of toppings. Overall I highly recommend The Yard! read more

Perfect place to go for Mother's Day. Mom was like a kid in a candy shop with all the tasty choices! We went for the novelty and indulgence, but will probably keep this venue to a once or twice a year treat. It is rather expensive (nearly $60 for 4 shakes). I wish that they had another bowl or larger plate to dissemble the shake (there's a LOT going on with these shakes!) as well as a better method for bringing home the used jars, other than throwing the sticky cup into a bag and bringing home to wash. Overall the service is great the selection and options available are fantastic plus you can mix and match ingredients to create custom combinations. One milkshake standard size in the mason jar will easily almost exceed your calorie intake for the day. The Milkshakes are great the only thing that would keep me from going back on a regular basis is the price for 2 people with the standard milkshakes in the mason jar the cost was over $40. Fist time guests at this new Milkshake bar and we were greeted nicely at the door and handed menus which was very nice. Once we were ready to order we stepped up to the glass and were gonna order until we noticed you order at the register. However as we were standing there not a single employee had told us that you order at the register we were a group of 5 so i know we weren't missed. It just would have been nice to been told by those behind the glass to walk on down to the register and place our orders. I am so pleased with this place. My sisters were here for a few days visiting and we decided to come here because they have egg free, dairy free, and vegan options. We ordered the "not milkshake" which was very yummy it came with a vegan cookie and almond or coconut whip cream, fudge and soy chocolate milk! My sister ordered the "magically milk free" which came with two Oreos on top looking like a Micky mouse shake. My younger sis ordered two scoops of cookie dough which is a pretty big serving. The lady helping us was so patient and nice, we changed our order up like 3 times because my sis was being indecisive and we were both slightly annoyed with each other at that moment and the lady was not phased at all lol. She deserves a raise because she was just amazing. The shakes are pricy but the experience was worth it. They have a patio outdoors which was actually cool on a hot day. We went to the yard milkshake bar yesterday for a nice treat. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. First of all the price. $15 for a pint size milkshake or sundae is crazy. Take that number in half and you're about right. They're charging you for the glass jar that you can take home. Problem is that a normal glass jar that doesn't say "the yard" would cost around a dollar and also come with a lid. But let's get back to the important part of this review and that's the quality of the milkshake. The milkshake was horrible. It was so watery and runny it was actually kind of disgusting. A pathetic milkshake. I mean..... .McDonald's, Whataburger, Wendy's......they all make milkshakes 10 times better, and that's sad to say coming from fast food restaurants. If you want to more similarly compare apples to apples.....look at Dairy Queen. They put stuff in theirs and call it a Blizzard. You can turn that one upside down and it will stay in your cup. All for a whole lot cheaper than the yard.. you turn the yards milkshake upside down and you've got a huge mess instantly. I just cant get over how thin and watery these are. It's almost like they mixed water with milk and added a little ice cream and then blended it all together. With all that said.....I would maybe come back. That's a big MAYBE. The brownie that was on top of mine was really good. If only they just sold baked snacks. But honestly. If I did come back, I wouldn't get the milkshake. I would try to sundae. However, I can see myself stopping at tons of other places before this one, and I'm sure at these prices and this quality, the yard will not last long. Go ahead and be mad at me for leaving an honest review....but the purpose of a review is: a.) To help the business make themselves better. And if they want to stay open with "milkshake" in their name, they need to learn how to make a milkshake. b.) To let other people know that they may want to proceed with caution. Or hey, just don't get the milkshake at a milkshake bar. Try the sundae. (And I sure hope that's a lot better). Or if it's good, to let people know they should check a place out. This place is a nice date spot, great for the kids, nice spot just to chill and have a shake. They have an amazing selection and even a vegan milkshake. Blew my mind. I had to try it.
