After driving by one day while visiting Blue Ridge this is one of those places you could tell was going to be good. Off the main drag where all the little shops and fancy restaurants are, The Yellowphant cafe was the best breakfast I have had in my recent memory. I had an espresso and the breakfast burrito. I also shared my wife's breakfast as it was delicious. The hash brown casserole was perfection. The burrito was the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. It came with a nice refreshing salad that was the perfect balance to the very large burrito. The espresso was great not an over roasted Starbucks espresso. Music was blues and excellent. The service was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back to Blue Ridge and try something else on the menu. read more

The place was packed, and the food is cooked to order. Nonetheless, the wait was not unreasonable, and the food was definitely worth the wait. We ordered a side of pancakes, and they were incredible. Light and fluffy. We had the Fritatta and Eggs Benedict as mains. The fritatta was original and very satisfying. The hostess boasted about the homemade hollandaise, and it lived up to the hype. If I have ever had better hollandaise, I don't remember it. A very cute place with a homey, eclectic decor. read more

A terrible experience. Took a long time for our order to be taken. One person taking orders and preparing coffees which took a long time. Meanwhile 3other people standing around. When we got ready to pay they had no change - we paid with cash. Seems to be unorganized. When we arrived there was one other man in the restaurant. Took an hour and a half for us to eat here. Well, it was so good that I went twice this week and I had to bring a friend the second time because it was so good! I got the TBA (I think that's the name) and it was delicious. I noticed when a table opened up, someone else (that came in after me) would rush over and take it. I told the order taker, waitress, cashier person and shamed her into getting me a table. I just want to share what a wonderful lil place this is, aside from the food being super yummy their service was what got me. From the moment we walked in the vibe was gracious friendly and warm the young ladies at the counter were full of smiles & Grace very professional, helpful and inviting. We were there for Sunday morning brunch 11/26/23 and my grandson was set on chocolate chip Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes, however kids menu had plain pancakes which he was ok with. As we waited one of the young ladies there was clearing the table next to us and began engaging in conversation with us and him in which he brought up the Mickey pancakes. (He was trying ;) ) Lol she kindly explained they didn't have which again he was ok with but he had to make sure lol. Long story short, when his pancakes came out they where specially done in Mickey Mouse shape. The joy that small gesture/accommodation filled our hearts and made his day. I want to thank everyone working & cooking at the restaurant that day for being so beautiful & kind, Don't miss out on this gem of a place. Just had breakfast here this morning and we're so glad we did. If you're looking for a home-style country breakfast, this is the place to go. Great menu with lots of options and big portions. Between my husband and I, we had eggs, bacon, grits, hash brown casserole, biscuits and gravy and Belgian waffle. Plus coffee, cappuccino and fresh squeezed OJ. Well breakfast at Yellowphant was very nostalgic. It brought me back to the glory days of the 90's. When Seinfeld was king of prime time. The episode that I was re-living was the infamous "No Soup For You!" The gentleman behind the counter; we'll call him "Grey Goat Tee". He greeted us with a cold stare and a look like someone had just gave him an unwanted Brazilian wax. As we browsed the menu we could tell there was a time limit to make a decision even though there was no one else in line. Indecision seemed to be his kryptonite. Well a word of advice; do not ask for any substitution or variation to the menu or you might get berated in front of your peers. Once you have successfully navigated the ordering process and one of the staff finally finds the marker on your table indicating the food belongs to you, you will be treated to a very average albeit overcooked breakfast. All in all it was an experience and maybe if your brave enough to go you will be treated to the magical experience of yesteryear as we were. read more

This is a MUST visit if you are in Blue Ridge. My husband and I shared the brisket breakfast burrito. It was truly the BEST breakfast burrito that we have ever eaten. My husband ordered a hot maple bourbon latte. It so delightful, I had to get my own. His was made with whole milk and mine had oat milk. The owner and staff were so friendly. My only disappointment was we went there on our last day in Blue Ridge. Save yourself the disappointment, and visit Yellowphant on day one of your vacation. read more

We had breakfast, and have to say we were disappointed. Ordered the waffle, with a side of sausage. The waffle was plain, just maple syrup. No whipped cream, no strawberries. The sausage was tough, like it had been heated in a microwave. There is no table service. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and they deliver it to you. Seating was uncomfortable with metal chairs. Limited menu, and pricey too. Do have to say that staff was very friendly. read more

NO NO NO! We sat for 15 minutes before anyone ever approached the table for drinks and immediately it was POOR service. The lady was rude, she never came back to refill any drinks, was told if we wanted water, it was on the bar to help ourselves. We ordered food and waited well over an hour for food for 4 people. WHILE we watched others get sat after us and get food before we did. I DO NOT recommend unless you want poor service. They definitely need to address poor attitudes. read more
