We travel to Crown Point to visit family every 3-6 months. I can't believe I didn't know about this place. The class that I attended was a restorative class by Ebonie. She was so kind and helpful and it was just what I needed. The staff person at the desk was really nice too. I will definitely be back when in town again!! read more

After taking a Yoga class at college, I was really excited to keep it up. The Yoga Room is tranquil and inviting with tribal/Hindu influences. What I found uncomfortable was the lectures from the instructors at the end of each session. I was extremely uncomfortable that their religious practices was shared and encouraged. I love the feeling of health and well-being from yoga, however their spirituality was intrusive and not welcomed! read more

I wrote this review three years ago and forgot to post it. I only saved it. Got an alert from Yelp that I forgot it--- three years later. It's still the same great place with the same great people. I am visiting the area and saw this studio on Yelp but was curious as to why there were no reviews. I decided to give it a try. This studio is Awesome. I have attended three classes so far with three different instructors, all of whom have been great. I highly recommend this studio. I have taken classes in different cities when I travel, and the instructors at The Yoga Room are some of the best I've had anywhere. read more

About a year ago I contacted The Yoga Room about the possibility of my wife being able to practice yoga. Three years prior she suffered a spinal cord injury. The injury resulted in loss of feeling and limited mobility. Mikes response was the studio would work with her and that their motto was " yoga for every body " . I decided that I would also give it a go. The results for her has been wonderful and much to my surprise I have found the practice very fulfilling. Mike and his staff are well learned and very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend The Yoga Room to anyone looking to improve their lives. read more

I am visiting the area and found this studio on Yelp but was curious as to why there were no reviews. I decided to give it a try, and I am glad I did. This studio is AWESOME!!! I have attended three classes with three different instructors, all of whom have been great. I highly recommend this studio. I have taken classes in different cities when traveling, and the instructors at The Yoga Room are among the best I've had. Great studio, great instructors, and very friendly yogis. read more

Established in 1991.

The Yoga Room started in the basement of our director, Mike Zolfo, home in the summer of 1991 with a few students. He officially began as the Yoga Room in 1993. As he outgrew the basement, he built a studio in his backyard, now called Ye Olde Yoga Barn. Then in 2000, we expanded to our current location on Main Street in Crown Point. We continue to offer yoga to the ever-growing number of students in NWI who want healthier bodies and minds.

Meet the Business Owner: Mike Z.

Mike Zolfo, our owner/director, opened the Yoga Room in the basement of his home in the summer of 1991. Now on Main Street here in Crown Point, it has grown to become the premier yoga studio in Northwest Indiana serving the growing number of people interested in yoga for better health.

She also was an awesome instructor. She led the class through a relaxing/restorative class that was the perfect reset for the week ahead. The studio was very nice and clean. This is great if you have older kids, but since there are two (that I saw) other entrances, it's still best to follow behind younger kids if you want to make sure they don't leave the park. There is an area called Tot Lot for toddlers, which is a scaled-down version of the rest of the park with baby swings, smaller slides, climbing structures, mounted instruments, etc. We spent some time here, but my son was really drawn to the main playground. The main area is truly a wonderland for littles. With ramps, slides, swings, ropes, obstacles, and a zip line, there is never a dull moment. We visited on a day that was about 90 degrees, so there were only 1-2 other families with us at a time, but the kids that were there all gathered in the shade beneath the main structure. There was fun to be had even under there, with the different ceiling heights and areas making playing tag or hide & seek a blast for everyone. Personally, my favorite part was the large, adult-sized swing (I regretfully did not get a photo... because I was on it the whole time!). It's a standalone swing that is supported by 4 cables. The actual seat is so comfortable it makes me wonder why all playgrounds don't have these! I imagine it's truly for older kids with different abilities, but on a slow day it was my perch. I could see the whole park, including under the main structure and 2/3 entrances, so I just enjoyed the breeze while my son played tag with his new friends. There is also a picnic area and restroom building that looked nice from far away, but we did not check them out. The whole place seems very structurally sound and well-maintained. I was positive it must be brand new because of the quality, so imagine my surprise on the way out when I noticed it had last been renovated in 2014 (11 years ago). Overall, if I could give this playground 10 stars I would. Great job, Valparaiso!

The vast playground has a rubbery ground and is consisted of a section for young toddlers and a larger area for older children. We have two young, energetic daughters so we gained quite a bit of steps in chasing after them as they kept running between the different play areas. I am under the impression that either everything is brand new or incredibly well-maintained. The playground equipment appear to be high-end with exceptional diversity and quality. There are several wooden structures, multi-level jungle-gyms, swings, climbing structures, slides, monkey bars with different height levels, and zip line. Several themes were highlighted in the play spaces too - from fire trucks to solar systems to Vikings. There was never a dull moment in the two hours that we spent there.
