Thus, I have nothing else to compare the experience to but to say it was fantastic is an understatement. Today was my first time visiting The Yoni Temple for a Brazilian. Getting in was easy but a little awkward because Im awkward af and wasn't sure if I should knock or just open the door.. TIP: JUST OPEN THE DOOR lol. Katie was ahhhmazing! Before going in for my Brazilian she gave me a consultation, she's super easy to talk to her, felt like I was just hanging with a gf. After the consult and before my service she gave me an elixir, I loved it! It's not for everybody, but if you're a Chinese herb drinker like myself, you'll love it! My service was great! Katie was super detailed and talked me through everything that was going on during my wax. What really made me love her is that she is aware of your body, and doesn't leave you in painful leg positions forever. She did a brilliant job on my Brazilian wax because she made me feel extremely comfortable for my first time experience with her (I have been going to the same person for 2 years and she recently moved away, so I decided to give her a try) and she was so sweet and accommodating. I loved how quick, relatively painless my Brazilian felt. She used hard wax which is gentler on your skin, and talked me through the entire process. She also recommended an exfoliating scrub that you use on both your face and body which is great for people who suffer from ingrown hairs. I absolutely love the scrub and I recommended it to everyone. You can find it at the yoni temple or your local Whole Foods store. Visit Amylly if you are ever in the Berkeley area. I visited the yoni temple for my first wax since January 2020. The space is beautiful and smells nice. The waxer (Gloria?) was efficient, considerate, and did an excellent job. While this is never a super comfortable experience, she did her best to make it as comfortable as it could be. I loved the artwork on the ceiling and using breathing techniques to make the experience less painful. I'm not certain that I'm going to become a regular waxer, but if I did this would be my spot. read more

I've had my fair share of Brazilians at hair salons, nail salons, people's houses, etc. from all around the country and I have to say that YT is one of the top places to go. Ashley explains her process, different types of waxes she uses and is open to any process suggestions. What's even better is that the waxing doesn't hurt too much. She gives you thorough aftercare instructions (i.e no heavy working out for 24 hours), which is important because one place told me that I can workout out after waxing if I rinse with cold water...horrible advice! I saw Desiree for waxing, including a boyzillian, which was a first for me! I've been waxed numerous times over the years (but never a boyzillian) and found Desiree to be the BEST! I had my share of nerves but found her to be personable, welcoming and very knowledgeable. She really knows her stuff. When I visited The Yoni Temple yesterday, I hadn't had a Brazilian in months and was nervous about the pain. Ashley's level of knowledge, which lacked any hint of pretension or judgment, made me feel completely at ease. To second the sentiments of other reviews: I don't know if it was the herbal elixir (made by Ashley herself, in her days as an herbalist), the goddess artwork on the ceiling, the all-natural products, or the expert technique, but this was the least painful wax I have ever experienced. Hands down. This is coming from someone who used to work at one of Chicago's elite day spas and get free Brazilians from "top" estheticians. Ashley has a million five star reviews for a reason people! I'd gotten waxed elsewhere in Oakland about a month and a half ago, but was too uncomfortable to go for the full Brazilian I'd planned on. This is the first review I have written in AGES! Ashley was so amazing that I had to write one! I got a brazilian wax and an eyebrow wax from Ashley today. I have to say this was the best waxing experience I have had in my entire life, and I have been getting waxes since I was 17 (and I am now 24). Ashley was wonderful kind and extremely patient. She had a chocolate waiting for me to eat, I chose to eat it right before the wax and it put me in a splendid mood. I wasn't initially going to get an eyebrow wax, but she told me that if I spent $95 dollars I would get a complimentary massage. I decided to add on the eyebrow wax so I could do that, and boy am I glad I did! My eyebrows have never looked so good. I actually realized they weren't symmetrical until today! I was out of town all summer and had to "cheat" on her with another waxer. Most of my life I have not been a person who would consider getting waxed so when I finally had the urge to try it I knew I wanted to find the perfect place. Seriously amazing. I got a Brazilian wax from Christina and she is so meticulous, easy to talk to, and makes you feel very comfortable. She is a true perfectionist, and you will not leave here with anything but a flawless Brazilian wax. I've had enough bad experiences from cheaper waxing joints. I was greeted into the luscious, soothing waiting room by Ashley then led into the equally warm and lovely treatment space where a delicious, chocolate truffle and home-made elixir to sooth my soul awaited me. Each step of the treatment was thoughtfully designed to nurture the health of my skin and well-being of my heart. Essential oils specially chosen to pamper my legs both before and after waxing; different waxes for different body parts so that the best result could be reached with the least discomfort; detailed scrutiny of my legs with handy pink tweezers after waxing in order to remove any sneaky hairs that slipped by the initial phase. The sweet, intelligent, and grounded presence of Ashley was what made it all come together. We had an interesting conversation and really connected, making the whole experience that much more enjoyable and refreshing. It's about time that a session at the waxing salon can be a healing experience!!! This is the kind of business I wish to see more of in society :) As I was leaving, I also noticed that she carries one of my favorite essential oil lines called Pharmacopia. I found an oil I've wanted that is very good for healing all sorts of blood and skin related wounds, including scaring from pimples.
