We had a good dinner at Thea! Our server was attentive. Staff checked frequently if we needed anything, how our dinner was,water filled etc. They checked all the boxes. Chef driven cuisine. We had Halibut and Duroc Pork. Halibut was flaky, tender and included a nice amount of crab meat with new potatoes and a corn/arugula salad. Flavor profile was Mediterranean and executed perfectly. The pork was very large, lightly breaded and pan fired - it was perfectly tender and moist. The dish included wonderful snap tender green beans and creamy potato au gratin. Dessert was a yummy banana cheesecake with a few caramelized. The server was very good and knowledgeable. This is my second visit after dinner with friends last month and lunch with friends this week. Good small, creative, sensible menu for lunch and dinner and a few specials. The calamari appetizer is good and at $15 can be shared. Service is good but slow like most places is struggling for staff. I had the lunch special Thai chicken salad, small plate. The peanut dressing could have been more peanut flavored. The chicken was flavorless, and I fear it may have been pre- prepared and not cooked in house, please tell me I am wrong. My friends liked their salmon salad and a home made salmon chowder. Good portions, it is a BYOB with good outside seating. I will be back. read more

Wonderful lunch! Great service and nice outdoor seating. I had an excellent Caesar salad with a perfectly cooked steak. The dressing was obviously kitchen made and very good. Wow! We had an amazing experience this evening at Thea for our 40th Anniversary dinner! The food was stellar as usual! We had the blackened halibut and twin crab cakes along with salad and calamari appetizers. But what was amazing was our customer experience. Upon arrival, there was a minor snafu with our reservation which was quickly and politely resolved by Ann Marie. Our waitress, Janelle was professional, polite and on her game! As soon as a glass of water was emptied she refilled it.... Just perfect! Finally, when our desserts came (we had a delicious coconut cake and the peanut butter and chocolate pie) they were served on the same plate with "Happy Anniversary" drizzled in chocolate and raspberry sauces. In addition there was a very generous and gracious comp done for us for the minor reservation issue. I have never been treated so well as a customer! Kudos to the staff and management of Thea! Enjoyed a fabulous dinner with friends at this lovely restaurant in a newly developed area of Mechanicburg. The menu is creative exploring new interpretations of some classics and presenting new innovative dishes. We enjoyed fried Brussel sprouts, as light as feathery butterflies. Drizzled with balsamic and feta cheese. This is one of the 2 recommended appetizers. The other is truffle fries. Also shares a spectacular Brie brûlée, melted Brie served in a ceramic dish accompanied by fruit jam and slivered pecans, served with toasted slices of French bread. This was delicious. Following that we had a lovely summer salad with watermelon and feta. For entree we had the veal parmigiana with pasta and our friends enjoyed the crab cakes. For dessert we shared a refreshing raspberry sorbet and our friends had a warm bread pudding with ice cream. We had the honor of meeting the chef and owner Ann Marie who named the restaurant Thea as she is Aunt to all. Come enjoy this lovely restaurant and the unique and delicious food in a lovely venue with indoor and outdoor dining. So since my last review several years ago, we have returned to Thea at least 6-7 times. Glad we did because it is unequivocally, an elite culinary institute and is easily in the top 3 restaurants in the area. Most recently, we dined here last night for my wife's birthday in their private room. This room is great for large parties (10+ people) as there is plenty of space. It's also decorated extremely well and instantly enhances all photos taken in this room (and hides my poor photography skills). The room also comes with a private Bluetooth speaker. The fact that this restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night, albeit with Covid restrictions in place, leads me to believe that they are doing something right. For those who wish to dine outside, they offer individual pods which are heated and have their own Bluetooth speakers as well. Great option! The service provided by Nanci was nothing short of phenomenal. She was very patient, helpful and friendly. Thanks, Nanci! The chef even stopped in to check on us which was a nice touch. As usual, the food was awesome! We started out with the brussels sprouts (which might be the best ever) and calamari. I had the Veal Parm special that was served over a bed of pasta and marinara, all of which were perfect and enough to feed two adults, but my gluttony got the best of me. Others from our group really enjoyed the Blackened Halibut special, Chicken Milanese, Pasta Bolognese, Crab Cakes, Truffle Fries, Burger, and the French Bread Pizza (children's menu). We really wanted to like this. It had so much potential and I will say the venue is lovely, though difficult to find. I have been twice but I will not be rushing back. The first time the food was pretty good apart from my friend's steak being served medium well when she asked for it to be done less. The service was rather snooty though, the hostess seemed very annoyed that we had no reservation even though we purposefully came early and did not linger over our dinners. The restaurant was only 1/3 full the entire time we were there so we didn't understand the attitude. Then the server kept trying to rush us along. My other friend had a salmon special which was good and I enjoyed the crab pasta which was very light. We all started with salads. Due to the "warm welcome" we opted to eat dessert elsewhere. Fast forward a month or so, I decided to bring my husband and got a reservation because I hadn't hated my food and I wanted his opinion. We were seated next to the kitchen and a very loud family. It was a little busier. While we did enjoy our charcuterie board, our entrees were very disappointing. His rib eye was just ok (not worth the price, and he is willing to pay quite a lot for a good one) but the sides were obviously leftover warm ups and tasted strongly of microwave. He added crab cake and it was very crumbly and fishy. My halibut was also sub par being way over drenched in the balsamic, I practically had to eat the sides with a spoon. My sides were slightly underdone which made it seem like I was eating rabbit food. I don't mind tender crisp but this was more under. I would have been better off getting the crab pasta again. Maybe we will try one more time but honestly, for the distance we drove and the two experiences we had, I think there are other better places around. read more

I was excited to finally get reservations. The little Arcona 'town' feel is great and Thea looks welcoming & who doesn'tlike a BYOB? The vibe was off & not chill for a Friday wind down. (Couples date night out for laughs, good food & to share bevies.) Customers were kinda old & wanted the lights turned up, eyeroll. The staff offered no ice bucket or fresh cold glasses in between drinks. We felt rushed to order & once din was done, probably for the next reservations? The food that I've heard so much about was mediocre at best. They could not accommodate no onions in the crab dip which says to me frozen. The truffle fries were the worst ever. Salad dressing serving is a thimble. I'm giving 3 stars only because I have heard good things and this was my first visit. Perhaps this was an off night. The manager did check on our table before we left. Final piece, I definitely won't try hard to visit again. read more

First, it should be understood that while I found this restaurant unremarkable, those who have given it five stars may be justified in feeling differently. There's much to commend, it's just not my style. Second, a word of advice for those navigating with Google Maps: You may have passed the restaurant by the time Google thinks you've arrived. You must enter via Arcona Drive. Restaurant is BYOB. Dinner menu is not extensive and on the pricey side. (I didn't ask if lunch items were available.) Entrees in the high $20s, apps $10-12, specials were $35-50. We had a selection of apps, salads and entrees, no dessert. The meatball and arancini apps ($10 & $12) were unextraordinary, with flavors that didn't really seem to work well together. The crispy Brussel sprouts ($10), while nicely browned, were too sticky-sweet for me. Kale and sprout salad ($10) was "okay," but nothing special. Cumin apparently sprinkled on the squash was a weird taste combination, and the salad could have done with fewer craisins. Chicken was a real grilled breast, however, not frozen strips. Caesar salad ($10) had roasted tomatoes, which was odd, and the polenta croutons were tasteless. The beet and arugula salad was tasty, except for the same tasteless croutons. The Duroc pork chop ($30) was huge (I was unfamiliar with Duroc pork) but very well done, moist and flavorful. The panko crust was not to my taste, but was easily removed. Ambiance was very pleasant, but got noisy as the dining room filled (75dB). Service was extraordinary, led by Allie our server. Total price for three apps, two large and one small salads, and one entree was slightly over $100, high especially for a restaurant without a liquor license. read more

Found this place after searching through OpenTable for a different place to eat Friday night. When I saw the name, I had remembered someone I know mentioning it when it had first opened, so I figured "why not?". Now, this isn't a cheap meal by any means, so if you're just looking for a place to grab some grub, you might want to look elsewhere. The setting is fantastic, located in a newly constructed community with a faux town center located within it. Beautifully modern and tasteful decor throughout, and a very large feeling of "let's make a night of it" accompanies you after walking in through the barn-style doors. We were greeted by our server Ally(i?) whom was very chipper and made you want to listen to what she had to say. We went for the Calamari Fritta to start, and let me tell you it was fantastic. Never have I had such smooth and tender calamari in my life, far from rubbery. I opted for the short rib, while my dining partner opted for the steak frites. Both the steak and the short rib were cooked perfectly, and tasted very good. The red wine Demi glacé on my short rib was delicious, and complimented the pear infused mashed potatoes nicely. We both chose broccolini for our side, which was also delicious. We ended our meal with both the pecan bread pudding, as well as the layered chocolate cake layered with mousse and hazelnut crisps. Both were good, though I was partial to the bread pudding. We were both extremely satisfied with the atmosphere, service and meal as a whole. BYOB can be a positive or a negative aspect in a night like this, but luckily I had a bottle in hand to being along with me. In the end, we each spent just under $60 including tip for the meal, which in my opinion was well worth it for an enjoyable Friday night. Would certainly recommend, and will be back. read more

I loved everything about this restaurant! Beautiful, chic decor, amazing food combinations, great service, and byob with no corking fee! Our party shared the crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer- they were the smallest sprouts and perfectly crisp in a wonderful citrus sauce and topped with feta. Mmm! We also shared an order of the truffle fries. They were nicely done with white truffle salt and black truffle oil. So yummy! I ordered the scallop special and was thoroughly impressed with the dish. Four HUGE scallops that were perfectly seared and paired with quinoa and lump crab and a side of blackened cauliflower. My hubby got the meatloaf entree and I have to the leek & gruyere bread pudding that came with it was phenomenal! The meatloaf was one of the best I've ever tried. I was driving through PA headed to Jersey and I was having a hard time finding food along 76. Thea was a gem and got us through. We all got sandwiches and burgers, pretty decent but not notable on the flavors. The fries were incredibly soggy, and they forgot to give us salt and pepper (on request) so add unseasoned to that. The owner was super kind by personally emailing me a pdf copy of a menu that included prices. I chose this restaurant to get takeout dinner from for my birthday and it did not disappoint. I got the Chicken Milanese which was full of flavor. The sides did kind of become overwhelmed by the sauce but due to takeout that seemed to have been unavoidable. The chicken could have been a little more tender but was still very tasty and the crunch on the breading was perfect. I also tasted some of the French fries which may be my new favorite!
