TLDR: Beautiful upscale venue with a fantastic dog friendly patio and excellent service for large groups. The kitchen sink breakfast and strawberry ricotta pancakes are highly recommended after a weekend outdoors. My group of eight dined out on the patio for Sunday brunch on a beautiful day. We had two dogs with us as we were rounding out a camping trip in nearby Halifax, and the staff was more than accommodating by bringing out a bowl of water for them. The restaurant itself is a sprawling campus featuring beautiful vintage architecture inside the main building, alongside a modernized covered patio for comfortable outdoor dining all year round. Service was excellent throughout our meal. We made these reservations a few weeks in advance for such a large party with animals, and they were completely ready for us when we arrived. The food was above average and exactly what I have come to expect from slightly upscale American brunch spots. I opted for the kitchen sink breakfast, which is rightfully named since it includes eggs, a thick slice of country ham, biscuit and gravy, and home fried potatoes. Everything was well prepared and really hit the spot after being outside for a few days of camping. I also split an order of the strawberry ricotta pancakes with my wife and was very impressed. I am not usually one to eat pancakes, but these were incredibly light and fluffy. The ricotta complimented the strawberries well, making the dish taste very similar to a strawberry shortcake. This week's Friday Night Solo Date Night destination took me to Greystone Public House -- a spot I've heard people talk about for a while but had never tried myself. When I realized I'd be just minutes away late Friday afternoon on one of the nicest days of the year so far, it felt like the perfect time to finally give it a shot. Friday afternoon, 74°, end of a long work week...this absolutely screamed "patio dinner," and Greystone delivered on that front! I arrived around 4:45pm and asked for patio seating, and was seated at a great table in full sun. The vibe was exactly what I was hoping for -- calm, quiet, and a really beautiful setting. When I got there, the patio was about one-third full, but by the time I left around 5:30pm, it had nearly emptied out. That said, I could definitely see this being a go-to spot when the weather is nice, so reservations are probably a smart move if you're aiming for patio seating. For my meal, I went with the shrimp salad wrap with a Caesar salad and a Diet soda. On paper, it sounded like a solid, light dinner option. In reality...it didn't quite hit for me. The shrimp salad was very mayo-heavy with minimal seasoning, and it was loaded with large chunks of celery (like...a lot of celery). The menu also indicated the wrap would include tomato but it didn't. The shrimp were left whole, which made it tough to eat as a wrap -- I ended up just picking out and eating the shrimp and leaving most of the wrap behind...along with what felt like an entire stalk of celery. Not exactly what I had in mind. Service also missed the mark a bit. My server checked in shortly after the food was delivered, but then disappeared for quite a while. I finished eating and waited about 20 minutes for my check, with both my Diet soda and water empty and no refill in sight before she eventually came back. My total came to $24.30 before tip, which put the experience right around $30 for one person, one cold wrap, one side salad and a Diet soda -- and for that price point, I was expecting something a little more elevated, both in food and service. Greystone definitely has the look of an upscale, country club-style dining experience. The space is beautiful, especially the patio, and the overall atmosphere is appealing. But right now, it feels like the execution isn't quite matching the vision. The food lacked that "oh my god this is GOOD" factor, and the service didn't support the price point. Also worth noting -- a few small maintenance details stood out, like a broken toilet paper dispenser laying in pieces in the women's restroom and loose floor tiles near the bar that shift when you step on them. Not dealbreakers, but noticeable in a space aiming for a more polished experience. Overall, Greystone is a great spot for the vibes -- especially on a sunny day -- but the food and service didn't quite live up to expectations for me. I'd come back for the patio, but I'd probably manage expectations (and maybe try something different on the menu next time). read more

I want to start off by saying the staff was great. This review is just about the food. We went for brunch and honestly were disappointed. It was Mother's Day and my husband noticed that prices on the normal brunch menu were 4-5 dollars cheaper than what was offered for the Mother's Day brunch. But we still decided to go, not a huge deal. We ordered a salad to share and 2 meals. My husband got the quiche and it was over cooked, burnt on the ends and had a rubber texture. My meal was better, I got the stake and eggs but there seemed to be a lot of fat on my stake. I don't eat stake often, I am not sure if this normal. We returned the quiche and decided just to share my meal (since it was a pretty big amount of food). We have been to Greystone a few times, but came to celebrate my birthday. We had a reservation and was taken to our table immediately. The table we were at with came out into the walkway, so we felt like we were in the way as people came by, but it was a nice modern room that was a little loud. We enjoy the food. We started with an appetizer of oysters and the crab dip. The crab dip was nice and light and the oysters were flavorful with fun accompaniments to put on top. We enjoyed a variety of dinners, including the salmon meal, the shrimp salad, wrap and a regular salad with chicken. For dessert, we enjoyed the peanut butter and chocolate dessert. A lucky second choice for us as we originally tried going into downtown Harrisburg but forgot it was St. Patty's day and that we were driving a Mercedes Sprinter Van...we then found Greystone and were really glad we did. At first we thought it was a private club. Has the vibe of a country club. Service was really good. Not only our waiter but the manager checked on us frequently. We had the crab dip for an appetizer and it was so tasty. We then decided on two pasta. I had the sage duck pasta. The braised duck was phenomenal and the pasta had to be homemade. It was delicious. Enjoyed a delicious dinner here for a friend's rehearsal dinner. I had the eggplant rolltini and it was divine-the polenta was cooked to perfection and the flavors all matched well. The serving was very generous and I could have split with someone else. I also enjoyed the butter lettuce Salad which was light and refreshing. The cava Brut was light and refreshing. The family went to the GPH for my birthday. We sat outside. Started with delicious cocktails & four apps: smoked corn arancini, crisply Brussels, focaccia bread, and prosciutto Burrata. All of them were delicious and I would highly recommend. I split the smoked beet salad with my wife. The smoked beats were amazing! I had the single crab cake meal for my dinner. We had a fantastic experience at Greystone Public House! We visited for Sunday brunch to celebrate my mother in law's birthday and really enjoyed it. My group ordered the eggs Benedict, quiche Lorraine, chicken and waffles, and breakfast plate, the food came out quickly and we could tell it was all homemade. Our server was great in explaining the different drink and menu options and was helpful in answering our questions. The restaurant itself is in a cozy building with a warm and inviting atmosphere. There were some groups having Christmas gatherings while we were there. Families with children were there too and the parking lot has plenty of room for everyone. This little gem was near our hotel. I love a good public house and this one surprised me for sure. Beautiful place, large but not noisy. Incredibly welcoming large bar area, and upscale looking. They offered a variety of creative entrees and salads to choose from, featuring house made pastas. Happy hour cocktail prices a plus which our services quickly placed before the time was up at 6pm, before we settled in and ordered our dinner. Salmon with rice polenta for me served with Swiss chard Ana's sausage hominy butter. Very moist fish and creamy polenta. My husband had the duck and sage pappardelle pasta dish. His was incredible! Server was very efficient for handling the dining room herself. We usually don't eat American cuisine. We prefer Asian, but we love Greystone and come here at least twice a year since it's right across from our neighborhood. It's a beautiful building with sophisticated decor and good American food . It seems like the menus change seasonally. We always get great service. I tipped our last server 30%. I have never had bad service here at all unlike what I experienced at the new over priced Freshido "Asian fusion" ugh down the road. Our most recent server here at Greystone was a nice older server. This restaurant also gives a military discount. Even Cracker Barrel doesn't do that. It's too bad they don't give complimentary bread though for the higher priced entrees they serve here. The desserts? Yum. We always get desserts here. This time we go two desserts. read more

It has been a while since I've been in the Greystone (BC--before COVID) but we enjoyed drinks and a snack on rainy winter evening. We initially sat at "overflow" space near the bar and the bartender was quick to accommodate us. We both ordered wine and appreciated the nice presentation using small carafes. Classy touch! For our snack, we split baked meatballs and roasted brussell sprouts. Both were quite tasty, and the sprouts were prepared with chili and lime which gave them a nice taste and just a touch of heat. Greystone is a gorgeous facility and our bar service for drinks and food was top notch. We look forward to returning soon and experiencing the outdoor bar/patio when weather permits read more

Recommended brunch place with excellent food and great service. Be mindful of events as maybe 1/3 of the times I've been there some bridal shower or such has been going on. This place is amazing. Great building and atmosphere. And well prepared selection of tasty food. But the best part is the staff. We had a huge group with multiple reservations arriving all at different times because of travel issues. The two hostesses at the front could not have been more awesome and accommodating. This was Friday 6/27 if management wants to recognize them. Worked with us to get everyone seated with a smile and patience despite all the moving pieces. Recently had brunch at Greystone for the first time. While I have visited for lunch, dinner, and happy hour and was impressed, brunch was a little disappointing. The service was slower than usual; our server was difficult to find when we needed something. The food was also slow in coming out, which made me think they might have been short-staffed as the restaurant itself was not terribly busy. The food was tasy and was similar in portion and quality a our other visits. Pricing is on the higher end for some items, but there is a wide variety of dishes and costs. The restaurant has a beautiful and spacious outdoor seating area for warm weather. read more

We went for Easter brunch. My partner loved the salmon cakes. I ordered leg of lamb and was sorely disappointed. The green beans and mashed potatoes were fine but the lamb was extremely overcooked. 08/12/22 My wife and I were driving around site seeing and getting ready to head back home to MD, we were getting hungry so I went on Yelp and did a search for restaurants with outside seating that would allow us to bring our dog. The Greystone Public House popped up we looked it over and a few other places and decided on here. We arrived at the restaurant it's a big very old house with a newer large addition add, the landscaping is excellent and very well maintained. You have to go inside for a table outside, I didn't spend but a very short time inside and it was very nice. The hostess seated us at a table with an umbrella and shade for the dog, our server greeted us and then asked if she couplet the dog. She took our drink order then went over the menu explaining some of her favorite foods. I took a quick glimpse and saw the Beef Stroganoff on the menu this is a favorite of mine so that's what I ordered my wife had the triple play, it came with soup of the day half a sandwich and a salad. Shortly after ordering our serve brought out a bowl with water for our dog, shortly after our food came out it all looked fabulous. I don't remember the name of the soup but it had rice, chicken, curry and other seasonings it was very good. The salad had fresh greens, apples, nuts, blue cheese and a vinaigrette that was very tasty, the sandwich was a ham and cheese that was also very good. My beef stroganoff was excellent the beef was very tender for $26 it could have used a little more beef the mushrooms were cut perfect and had a earthy flavor the sauce was creamy and tasty and the noodles were cooked perfect, personally if the noodles had of been homemade this dish would have been through the roof. Wish they would have had a smaller lunch portion. The desserts sounded great but we were both full so, but we did get 2 chocolate chip cookies togo. Well I knew our lunch bill was going to be a little high for the cost of the Beef Stroganoff but when I saw the price of 2 cookies $6 I was shocked and even more shocked at the size of them. They were ok but they were only worth 50 cents each, not worth getting. Also they have this printed on the menu: Greystone Public House has adopted the "Living Wage" Initiative to bring equality to kitchen staff wages. In lieu of increasing all menu prices, a service charge of 2% will be applied to all food purchases. You will find this at the bottom of your bill. This will be distributed directly to our Culinary Staff Members. This is a great way to help out the employees!! On a nice sunny afternoon we stopped by Greystone to sit at their outside bar and enjoy the pre-fall day. As usual, the service was great and friendly. It was nice to see long time employees still there after the closure.  While the atmosphere is nice, we noticed prices creeped up a bit. Two basic cocktails totaled around $30, which is a bit steep for the area and the pizzas were $19/$20 each.  We sampled the calamari and one of their new brick oven pizzas. The calamari was delicious, tender and flavorful! The pizza was disappointing and overtopped for a brick oven pizza, where the crust is to be part of the main event. We tried the Soppressata, which had an overwhelming layer of roasted garlic paste as the base. This was topped with too much mozzarella cheese, followed by the red onion and hot honey. This pizza has a lot of potential, but needs to be moderate with the overall toppings. Price was $20.  While the atmosphere and employees are great, I just didn't get the same feel overall that we did in the past. read more
