First time here on Friday 12/20 to see a Christmas Story. The venue is beautiful. Bright and cheery staff. Only 200 seats in the theatre so not a bad seat anywhere. Bathroom is clean and cute little concession stand with very reasonably priced item. The play was 10/10 Parking is easy, there is a lot right across the street, street parking. Also Laz Parking deck a couple of feet away, they validate to make it $8, which is good for downtown Atlanta read more

My husband and I attended a Candlelight performance celebrating Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse on a Wednesday night. Parking was easy, there was an option of street parking, or parking in one of the surrounding lots. We found parking in the lot across the street and paid $6 for 2 hour parking. The event had very strict covid requirements, you had to present your covid vaccination card to get into the front door, also mask were required during your entire stay unless you were eating or drinking. The concessions offered was chocolate candy and twizzlers. There was water and canned wine for sale as well. The theater was small and intimate designed in such a way that no seat is a bad seat. The staff asked the attendees to not record but of course there were several offenders who needed to politely be asked to stop. I truly enjoyed the performance it was outstanding and a lovely tribute to Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse. The restrooms are on the top floor, it was clean and well maintained. Overall, we had a great experience at Theatrical Outfit and I look forward to coming to another production here. read more

Great venue, great concession, and convenient parking! Staff was pleasant and the seats were comfortable.

A couple we know contacted us one recent Friday morning to see if we'd be interested in attending a play with them that evening. They apparently had enrolled in some service where, when unsold, last-minute tickets were available, they would get an option on them. We agreed to me. After fighting traffic, we made it to the heart of downtown by 6:15 p.m. We parked in a garage off Luckie Street. We located our friends and had dinner in a nearby diner. We were then able to walk back to the theater. They had at least 2 temporary bars selling (I think) water, soft drinks, and wine. Wine seemed to be the drink of choice. We had never been to a play at The Theatrical Outlet before. The venue is not huge, but they probably had a couple hundred people in the audience. The show that night was 'Slow Food', a comedy with 3 actors. After a brief intro from the emcee, the play started. It went about 90 minutes without intermission. It was amusing; we enjoyed the evening. There was an optional after-show session where people could talk to the actors but we opted to head home. In all, it was a fun evening. We'd consider going back. The least convenient aspects were parking (our chosen garage seemed somewhat claustrophobic) and the restaurant selection nearby (if there is a big event at State Farm Arena, it saturates the area). read more

Saw, "Christmas at Pemberly," and loved it! I guess it was kind of like Jane Austen fan fiction. Costumes and set were amazing and it's always great to see Tom Key before the show, truly an Atlanta treasure. Theatrical Outfit has really grown in the past few years. You can pay for concessions with a card and take wine and other good stuff into the theater with you. Be careful parking though. Unscrupulous people (some even w Laz shirts on and parking tickets in hand) will stand in lots charging $10 or $20 (and in my case, even offering a discount!) just to run off as soon as you hand them your money. I recommend parking in the garage next to the theater or always going straight to the electronic pay stations in the open lots. read more

Theatrical Outfit puts together some of the best locally produced professional shows I've seen in Atlanta, especially the shows where they partner with the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville. My favorite so far was In The Heights (Sep 2016)- amazing talent and gorgeous scenery. Theatre is subjective so it's all about what you like...do they produce some duds? For sure, but the good outweighs the bad. For my taste, I love a big splashy musical and this company usually delivers at least one or two a season. I also like their theater in downtown Atlanta, with the larger and smaller theaters. I'm not a huge fan of the partner parking garage (though they do have a discounted rate and are right next door...just don't like the traffic flow upon exiting), or the lack of a post-show dessert/coffee place nearby (within walking distance)...you probably have to venture further into midtown or other neighborhoods for that. Theatrical outfit never seems to disappoint. Their motto is they put on shows that stir the soul and you are never disappointed. Every time I see a show from this theater it always makes me think. If you have never been you have got to get to This Little Theater. The best deal is to buy season tickets. read more

As a disclaimer, I got a free ticket to see The Sunset Limited at The Theatrical Outfit tonight. No one asked or expected me to write a review, but the impressive show I saw here totally moved me. Seriously, go see this show. Yes, it was depressing (it's Cormac McCarthy after all) but I found myself laughing often and really truly enjoying it. It doesn't have fancy costumes or even set changes, but it's worth seeing and will definitely make you think about your own personal faith. A really incredible story acted by truly talented artists. If the Theatrical Outfit puts out great performances like these on the regular, expect to see me at more of their shows. The theater they perform in is small enough that there's not really a bad seat in the house, but big enough that you don't feel like your occasional cough is interrupting the performance. I love, love LOVE that it is LEED certified: that's incredible. If you haven't yet been to a show at the Theatrical Outfit, go check out Sunset Limited. If you can't make it out for that, see another show: I highly doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

I can't believe I'm the first to review Theatrical Outfit. Come on yelpers, let's get cultural. This theater company has been around forever, but just a few years ago they held a capital campaign and were able to build the very first LEED certified theater space in the country! If you don't know what LEED is, basically it's a rating for energy efficiency and environmental impact for commercial building. (Earthcraft is the residential version.) Not only did they build green, but they also re-used a really wonderful building in downtown--the historic Herren's restaurant. The performance space is very intimate with just over 200 seats---there's not a bad seat in the house. The acoustics are perfection and over the year's the theater has established a reputation for delivering high quality performances. Artistic Director, Tom Key is one of the most vibrant and respected personalities in the Atlanta arts scene. He's a well-spoken and measured advocate for the arts. He also has a wicked memory. I once attended a meeting at the theater and Tom gave us a tour. At the end of the tour we were seated in the theater and he asked each of us to introduce ourselves. At the end, he went back around and called each of the 50 or so attendees by their name! It was amazing! I've probably seen 10 or 15 different performances at Theatrical and have never been disappointed. Thematically they focus on Southern stories--either by Southern authors or that have a theme related to the south--religion, racial issues, etc. Try Theatrical Outfit and you won't regret it! read more

We went here Saturday night to see The Young Man from Atlanta. We had been searching for more than a year for a good small theatre close to us that we could frequent. We absolutely loved it. I was especially impressed by the set design. Very intricate and professional looking. The acting was supreme. The nature of the play was based very strongly on the actors' ability to convey these intense emotions. I got chills at several points in the performance and for quite some time afterwards. Acting was great, people were very friendly and again - was a fantastic play. Saw Klimchak play there Saturday night. So innovative, also involving--I was rocking in my seat like that former pitching coach of the Braves. Guy is a serious artist who does not take himself seriously at all, an excellent combination. Funny! Strong musicality, fresh and interesting. That electronic marimba is intriguing. The theater has a good feeling, welcoming people at the door, comfort, good acoustics, good sight lines. Glad it's there, enriches the city. read more

A friend heard on NPR that they were putting on "Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley" during the 2017 holiday season, and got us all tickets for a Wednesday night performance. Seats for the 3 row, left were $49 a piece with all the fees. One of the group parked in the deck advertised, and her ticket was validated for free parking. The lobby is small, but full of displays about the history of the building and the company. They've got a small bar with beer and wine in the front as well. The theatre itself is intimate: the seats are stacked in a way so that you've got space and you're not blocked by the heads in front of you. The performance was really good: the writing and acting were both excellent. And since it was an intimate venue, you could feel the actors responding to your emotions. read more

I didn't like how the play began with some guy coming down to the front of the audience and basically begging for sponsorship, then reading off a list of sponsors. I paid $25 a ticket to see the play. I didn't really expect it to begin like the beginning of a damn PBS show. It kind of started off the evening on the wrong foot for me. The bathrooms are located upstairs and were difficult to get to. The staff were very friendly and I even saw one of them helping an old lady get to her seat safely. read more

My honey surprised me with season tickets this year. I love the intimate stage and the fact that there is not a bad seat in the house. We didn't order any drinks, so I can't speak to that. I went here to see the Confederacy of Dunces with a few Yelpers .... or friends that also yelp .... whatever. Anyway, the theater was easy to find and parking was not too far away. There is a $5 lot right next to it as well as down the street. Street parking is also available, but I think its metered. The staff was really friendly and courteous. A real fine establishment. At the begging of the play the organizer/head of charge dude (or whatever his title is) came to give props to the sponsors and his little spiel was a little too long for my liking. The play itself was a fine adaptation of a one of my favorite books. The jokes played out well and the acting was superb. The characters were exactly how you'd envisioned them reading the book. The play itself was a little longer than I had hoped, but they captured most of the book in a play format without TL;DR-ing it. If The Confederacy of Dunces is still playing check it out. If not, read the book, you'll won't be disappointed. read more

Went online to buy tickets to Perfect Strangers. Once I found out that weeknight tickets were $ 49 plus handling I passed. This price was a surprise to me and too expensive for these productions. Plus getting downtown, parking, etc. Support some local theaters with more accessible prices. read more
