The restaurant wasn't very busy when we came in around 5:30ish. A lot of the tables were empty. They had both indoor and outdoor dining available, but the majority of the seats were indoor. The ambiance here is dark and chic, it reminded me very much of restaurants in NYC. It would make for a good spot for a date night or girls' night out. We made it here in time to order one thing from their happy hour menu, the tater tots. These were heavy but moreish, it was hard to stop eating them even when my stomach was telling me I was full. We also shared the corn, which I believe may have been a special/seasonal dish. It will go down as one of the best corn dishes I've ever eaten in a restaurant. My husband got the burger for his main and I got the mussels. The mussels were pretty fresh and silky, and were overall excellent, but I didn't love the broth they came in. My husband's burger was fantastic. It's one of the best burgers I've eaten at a restaurant in LA. Service was lovely and efficient. I'm looking forward to dining here again, and would highly recommend trying it.

I just visited this establishment and was initially impressed -- the venue is beautiful, and the bartenders were outstanding: friendly, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by the conduct of one of the managers, Max. During our visit, a group of women arrived who appeared to be familiar with the staff. One of them handed her purse to the bartender to keep behind the bar. One of the women approached me and asked where I was from. I responded, "Here, California," and asked her the same. She replied that she was Armenian. I said, "Awesome, I'm Mexican American." She gave me a look, smiled, and walked away -- nothing more. Shortly after, Max approached my husband and abruptly asked us to close out our tab, claiming that the bar seating was reserved for guests with dinner reservations. We had been there for two hours, quietly enjoying our drinks, and at no point during that time were we approached or informed of any seating restrictions. His sudden insistence felt targeted and unprofessional. When we asked the bartender to close us out, they appeared genuinely surprised and asked who had told us to leave. Upon hearing it was Max, the bartender seemed confused and apologized on his behalf. His reaction made it clear this was unexpected. Before leaving, I spoke with another manager who had actually been dining near us the entire evening. I asked why we were being asked to leave despite being paying customers. He seemed equally surprised and asked who had instructed us to close out. When Max happened to walk by, I pointed him out, and Max repeated the same justification. I explained how unfair it felt to be asked to leave under the pretense of reservations -- especially when it wasn't our fault if the restaurant had overbooked or failed to manage their seating properly. They denied any overbooking. I don't know whether this situation was influenced by bias -- perhaps due to the earlier interaction with the woman from Max's group -- or if it was simply a matter of poor customer service. But the message was clear: we were not welcome. Whatever the reason, I found Max to be unprofessional, lacking in basic hospitality skills, and dismissive of guests who don't appear to fit the desired aesthetic. Sadly, this experience has left a lasting impression. I will not be returning or recommending this establishment in the future. read more

I've been eyeing THEIA for a while because I really wanted to take my mom here. I've seen videos online of their Friday and Saturday nights with the live DJs and dancers, and it honestly looked SO fun. Unfortunately, I could only take my mom on a Thursday, so we totally missed the fun. No biggie. When we got there, the restaurant was super tiny but cute. There was only one other table occupied when we went, so it was pretty quiet. Our server was adorable, though. She was really friendly, sweet, and checked on us often, so I honestly have nothing bad to say about the service. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. It wasn't necessarily inedible or anything, but it was just... not good. And definitely not memorable. The steak was the worst of it. We ordered it the way we usually do--medium rare--but it came out looking and tasting SUPER rare. It was also really difficult to cut, and there was a lot of fat. There were even pieces of silverskin/gristle and connective tissue still attached, so we ended up spending a good portion of our meal trimming the steak ourselves. I honestly didn't say anything because she was the only person working and I could tell she was doing her best. It wasn't her fault, and I didn't want to make a big deal out of it or be that person complaining when she was clearly handling everything herself. So we just tried our best to enjoy the meal. Would I come back specifically for the food? Probably not. But I'd still love to come back on a Friday or Saturday for the live DJ, dancers, and drinks because THAT is what originally caught my attention. The videos online make the atmosphere look like such a fun time, and I'd definitely still want to experience that side of THEIA. So for me, 2 stars for the food, but I'm still curious enough about the nightlife to give it another chance for drinks and the Saturday experience. read more

I'll definitely be coming back! I've now been to Theia for both brunch and dinner and had to leave a review. The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff are always kind and welcoming. We came for Mother's Day brunch and they gave the moms champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was delicious and super filling, and the Armenian coffee was perfectly made. There's live music with dancers, singers, musicians, and a DJ that keeps the energy going all night. Dinner turns into a full-on party. Parking is the only downside as its street parking, so you may have to walk a bit in to look for parking.

We were headed to valet ($20) and somehow lucked into getting one of the very few parking spots right out front, score. We were warmly greeted and walked to our reservation immediately, walking by a rowdy gen x party at the bar adorned in cowboy hats & wanna-be influencers at nearly every table. It's so pretty inside, each room a little different but equally awe inspiring. I loved the vibe and my seat was perfectly placed in front of a giant mirror. My avoidant self did not have to view my reflection, but rather it was like a TV showing me all the hustle and bustle of the restaurant as diners shuffled back and forth to their seats. Watching the crowd was fun. Classy, range of ages, range of demographics but everyone is LA cool. You can be who you want here and Olivetta exemplifies that under their beautiful exterior. We had a perfect server by the way, very friendly and gave just the right level of service, not too much, not too little, just what I like, like I'm Goldilocks of Yelp LA Dining. We started with the squash blossoms, maybe regrettably so, as we had a hard time choosing an app. I'll try something else next time as they underwhelmed me. A nice crisp on the flowers but the stems were a bit much and I just found this dish to be aiight. Now the pastas I absolutely loved. We tried two and just adored them both. I was actually surprised at how good the portions were for such a classy, cute place. The Creste di Gallo was a sensation for the eyes and mouth, with a fun tableside creation of this dish. There's a generous shaving of cheese and delectable bone marrow in the dish, really great flavor and consistency. The Agnolotti was equally, if not even more, creamy and delicious. I was so full but could not stop eating this rich sauce over sage cream sauce and dried sage leaves. The roasted carrots were a nice accompaniment with our meal over a puffed feta bed sprinkled generously with pistachio and dill. Despite being full, we were still able to get through about half of the Chocolate Olive Oil Cake which was fluffy and soft with a chocolate ganache to pour over the top. I wouldn't have minded if this came with gelato or ice cream, just a tad but it was still a solid dessert. I do wish they had some non-alcoholic items like hot tea or coffee or espresso to go with dessert, they only had alcoholic offerings. Prior to beginning dinner, we did order some drinks. They had 3 Mocktails on their menu and were out of 1, so my friend and I ordered the only 2 mocktails ($16 a pop) options on offer. We found them okay - just fine, but wished they were excellent or more NA options were available & more care was intended for those of us who are Cali sober. Other than drinks though, I absolutely loved Olivetta. I'll absolutely be back to try more on the menu and I'm sitting here craving the Agnolotti, omggggggg it was so bomb. I def will be copping that dish again.
