Met Him At A Bar absolutely delivered. From the moment we walked in, the immaculate decor and adorable patio created such a warm, inviting atmosphere that made us want to stay awhile. The food was just as memorable. The chicken Parmesan was everything you want it to be: crispy, flavorful, and topped with a rich, perfectly balanced marinara and plenty of melted cheese. The Rigatoni Vodka (we added a meatball) was equally impressive. The vodka sauce was creamy without being overly heavy, and the meatball was tender, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. One thing to know before you go: parking can be a nightmare. There is valet in front, or you can opt for parking in the surrounding neighborhood. You're better off grabbing a rideshare if you can. It makes the experience much easier, especially if you plan on enjoying a few drinks. Between the beautiful ambiance, generous portions, and delicious food, this is an easy recommendation. Last night, four of us got together for dinner at Met Him At A Bar for Dine LA. We originally wanted to try another restaurant, but it was completely booked, so we looked for somewhere new to explore. Met Him At A Bar seemed like a good option, and one of my girlfriends made a reservation for four. Our reservation was at 7:00 PM. I street-parked and walked to the restaurant, where one of my friends was waiting outside. I asked why she wasn't sitting at our table, and she told me that our table was right by the entrance. She didn't like that spot and thought the tables farther inside looked much more comfortable and cozy. Since people were sitting at one of those tables, she wanted to wait until they left. Personally, I thought the table by the entrance was perfectly fine, but I was also STARVING! Another friend arrived and also disliked the table, so we decided to wait. After a while, I was getting way too hungry, so we sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and drinks while waiting. I first ordered the Garlic Shrimp and asked if it was spicy. I was told it was, so I asked if they could make it without the spice because I can't eat spicy food. He said he would check with the kitchen, but since I was starving and it sounded like it might take too long, I changed my order to Garlic Bread. One of my girlfriends ordered a glass of wine, and since she had made the reservation and gone through the trouble of arranging everything, I treated her to the wine and garlic bread. Then, of course, our friend who is ALWAYS late arrived about 30 minutes late! By then, the rest of us had already decided what to order from the Dine LA menu. We wanted to try as many dishes as possible, so we ordered different items and shared everything. When our late friend arrived, we ordered his dishes separately. For the first course, we had Caesar Salad, Bruschetta, and Meatballs. For the second course, we ordered Rigatoni Vodka, Cacio e Pepe, and Margherita Pizza. For dessert, everyone ordered Tiramisu. Overall, I thought the food was good. My favorites were the Bruschetta, Meatballs, Rigatoni Vodka, and Tiramisu. The Cacio e Pepe was not my favorite because I thought they used way too much black pepper, and my other friends agreed. Our group had mixed reactions overall. Except for one person, the other two felt the food didn't quite live up to their expectations and were somewhat disappointed. But everyone's taste is different, so I completely understand. Considering how expensive everything has become these days, I thought the Dine LA price was pretty reasonable. It was $45 per person, and with tax and tip, it came to $60 each. For that price, I thought the amount of food and the overall experience were pretty good. I also really appreciated how friendly and attentive all the staff members were. I usually don't drink alcohol, and especially when I'm driving, I NEVER drink--not even a sip. That has been my personal rule for decades. So I just ordered water, and I loved how the staff kept coming by and refilling my glass whenever it got low. I drink a LOT of water, so I really appreciated their attentiveness. Now, about parking: valet parking is $17. I decided to street-park instead. One of my friends also street-parked, but unfortunately she got a parking ticket and was VERY upset. I had originally found a spot where a sign said a parking permit was required, so I decided not to take the risk and moved my car. Before leaving, I asked a man walking his dog if it was okay to park there. He said he had seen many cars parked there and they had been fine, but I still didn't trust it because the sign clearly said permits were required. I told him, "I don't think that's allowed." He was very nice and suggested going about three blocks farther, where there was plenty of street parking without a permit. I followed his advice and parked there. Unfortunately, my friend who stayed in the permit-only spot ended up getting a ticket. Another friend parked in the parking structure across the street and said it cost $18. Since I had parked farther away and didn't want to walk alone at night, I asked him to drop me off at my car after dinner, and he kindly did. So my parking recommendation is to use the $17 valet or street-park about three blocks away where no permit is required. I definitely would NOT recommend parking in the permit-only spaces unless you want to risk getting a ticket. One of the funniest things about this neighborhood is the restaurant names. The restaurant we went to is called "Met Him At A Bar," and literally right across the street is "Met Her At A Bar." There's also another restaurant called "The Night We Met." I have to say, the names are pretty creative and definitely make this neighborhood more fun! As we walked in, nothing caught our attention more than the brilliant lively atmosphere. As we took our seats we awaited what would surely be a culinary journey. We ordered the margarita pizza, the calamari, the meatballs, garlic bread, and the pasta pomodoro. Fortunately and unfortunately, our first dish of the night happened to be the garlic bread. The bread locked. It's garlic butter flavor, or that of flavor at all. if it was all we had ordered, Met Him At A Bar would surely be given one star, but thankfully they had more to offer. The meatballs for one held our attention much longer than that of the garlic bread. The flavoring in the meatballs themselves brought us straight back to our childhood straight back to our roots, as the creamy marinara sauce brought the dish to life. A simple yet elegant dish truly. For us, the calamari was simply there. It's maintained everything you want in a calamari yet added nothing new. It stood out to us not in a world of flavor, texture, and culinary experiences. The Margarita Pizza, however it was quite small. What it lacked in size was made up for in flavor. The melted mozzarella mixed with pizza sauce on the pizza to create a pool of flavor, lingering in the middle of the pizza until one slice is picked up and eaten. Lastly, the pasta Pomodoro. The sauce was thin, the pasta was overcooked instead of al dente. In the singular basil leaf stood atop the pasta, not for flavor, but to save the appearance of a disgraceful pomodoro. This has become our go to neighborhood pasta place! We love the food and the vibes are really cute. Our favorite things here are the brussel sprouts, calamari, and the bolognese pasta but their pizza is also really good and if you come at happy hour you can get a great deal with a pizza and a wine! Our host, Robbie, made such an incredible impression of the space-- absolutely charming, kind and accommodating. Jake was our server, we appreciated his attentiveness throughout the experience. There was also an absolute QUEEN serving tables right beside ours who was really owning the space as their own (pronouns unknown but very much giving she/they). I felt like we were in theirs and Robbie's living room honestly, it's exactly the kind of vibe I long for when going out and they BROUGHT THE DAMN HOSPITALITY. One thing we get to enjoy when we live in a large, sprawling city like Los Angeles is not only a wide range of ethnic eateries but fun themed clusters too. That is what we found at Met Him At A Bar (MHAAB from here on out, LOL). Right on the opposite corner is Met Her At A Bar, and it is next to Her Thai and catty-corner from The Night We Met. Whew! A lot to digest. We picked this one to start with and may try the others. Parking is an issue, but the gods were smiling on us and we found a spot at the end of the block, free. Whew. I am not sure we will always be that lucky, but if you don't mind hiking a bit, there are paid parking lots/garages in the vicinity. Now, back to MHAAB. Good food, cheery bright space, best for lunch, imho, with a nice selection of all the usual up-and-coming dishes, for reasonable prices. The service, courtesy of Connor and Carlos, was excellent. The food is all fresh and with loads of eye-appeal. See my photos. The space is spotless (look at the windows, that is always a tell). The portions are generous so we took half of everything home (except dessert and beverages). The decor is organic. Music overhead was upbeat sort of eclectic disco and catchy. Two suggestions for the owners: amplify the vegetarian choices and find a way to knock down the echoic factor -- it was a bit hard to hear our own conversation with all the hard surfaces bouncing noise around. Went for Dine LA and honestly such a good deal!!! Made a resy and everything was smooth. My friend and I each got different dishes so we could try more, which made it even more worth it. The bruschetta was super fresh, light, and a great starter. The tomatoes were juicy and bright with that classic garlic and basil flavor. Nonna's meatball was also really good. Visited here on a Saturday early evening, which there was no wait. Did not need a reservation upon arrival and I was immediately seated for a party of 3. Surprisingly parking wasn't all too bad either since there was a few residential parking spots behind. They also offer valet here, but not sure how much. We went ahead and ordered the Caprese salad, rigatoni vodka, truffle ravioli, and the sausage pizza. Everything came out in a timely manner. The caprese salad was kind of underwhelming, we thought it would be a real salad lol but it was still quite nice. The cheese was surprisingly very light to have. The two pastas we had were both very creamy and flavorful! The truffle ravioli was quite heavy, which it was very cheesy, my bf's favorite. Still delicious! Rigatoni was also delicious to have and I actually may like this one a little more. The pizza was definitely very very cheesy. The toppings are a bit small, so honestly I mainly tasted cheese lol. Overall, the whole experience was very nice! Service was beyond expectation. Our waitress was especially very kind and chipper. Stopped in here for lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised they had HH! The menu had a decent selection of appetizers and drinks. We couldn't pass up, so we got some calamari to start. It was perfectly crispy and a side of Mariana sauce. HH also offered a personal size pizza with a glass of wine for $15. We got one spinach and sausage and one pepperoni and they were both so yummy! Absolutely LOVED this place! My friend and I came in for happy hour and it exceeded all expectations. We started with the calamari and WOW perfectly crispy, cooked just right, and finished with lemon juice that was truly chef's kiss. We went with prosecco to start (so good), and later switched to mojitos, which were hands down some of the best I've had. Not too sweet, not too strong just perfectly balanced. The service was top tier. Our hostess was incredibly friendly, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was relaxed, fun, and welcoming. But owning three restaurants all within walking distance and located just across the street from one other is something I've never seen before. "Met Him at a Bar," "Met Her at a Bar" and "The Night We Met" are the names of the three restaurants all owned by the same couple. I chose to dine at "Met Him at a Bar" and ordered the Rigatoni Vodka, brussel sprouts, garlic bread and a pepperoni pizza. The pasta was absolutely delicious as were the other dishes. The homemade pasta coupled with the bold and flavorful sauce, was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing. The brussel sprouts lightly drizzled with olive oil and cooked to perfection had a balsamic dressing type flavor, which was fantastic. Unlike other establishments they weren't overly charred, greasy or salty. The pizza and the garlic bread were very tasty and had lots of flavor. However, I did find the pizza a tad bit salty but overall it was a pleasant dish. Kudos, to my server melissa she was great. Her personality, friendly demeanor and welcoming spirit was appreciated as were her suggestions of some of the restaurant's most popular dishes. She even recommended some of her favorites. The interior decor and vibe is definitely upscale with a laid back twist. It's the perfect place for a date night or group gathering with friends. The restaurant was very clean and the tables were large enough to accommodate several dishes. The food portions were adequate and priced accordingly. There's also a bar serving a variety of alcoholic beverages. I would highly recommend making reservations and arriving on time. Every table was filled and remained this way until I left. Another cool thing is that all 4 restaurants are within 100 feet from each other, occupying each corner of the street. Met Him At A Bar is their dinner place that serve delicious Italian food. I came with five other people and in order to get the best experience of the place, we each ordered different dishes + a matcha martini for me of course. For food we got: Fettucine Pesto, Truffle Ravioli (my favorite), Six Cheese Tortellini, and Spaghetti Carbonara. All were super delicious that just made us crave it MORE. When it did finally arrive the eggs were lukewarm and the waffle was undercooked. Staff was apologetic but otherwise did nothing to rectify the situation. Same main food items usually no wait and food is just as tasty. I always go for the avocado toast, truffle potatoes, and a side of bacon and it HITS every time. Cons: Interior is nice however things can feel too close together, so I recommend sitting at the bar or getting a booth perhaps. Service isn't horrible but not the best. Just a lot going on in a crowded space imo. Drinks are fine nothing crazy. Bathroom is a little weird but was clean so that's always good. My favorite local spot! It's perfect for date night, and the happy hour deal is great. I've been here for their regular dinner service and happy hour. This was the perfect way to end our dinner 4) Homemade Panino (happy hour) - good value for $10.00! good size and good volume 4) Funghi Pizza - I know I've tried this before, but I honestly can't remember anything about it. 5) Amatriciana - Not as good as their other pastas. A little bland and one note 5) Fried Calamari - not my favorite. Average I usually walk, but the parking situation is not the best. It's on a busy main road, and the surrounding area is residential, with some of the streets needing parking permits. I know there's a parking structure across the street from All Season's Brewing, so that'll probably be cheaper than valet. I heard that the owners are opening a new spot across the street! You're paying for the vibe of this place. The food was not bad but nothing I would go crazy for. The waitress was kind, service was good and the ambiance is great. Its a very romantic spot and I do want to go again to try something different. Its a great spot for a date and I think its hard to find something like that in the city. read more

Fancy tater tots. Too much sauce. Puttanesca - salty, like couldn't finish it salty. Tomatoes and olives tasted fresh. Frutti Di Mare - perfectly cooked pasta, plenty of seafood, served hot. recommend it. Nice ambiance. Overall, check it out, but nothing special, in my opinion. read more

I came here for a casual date night with my boyfriend. I made reservation and was greeted promptly. Our server was amazing. He gave us time to review the menu. My boyfriend and I asked his opinion between our entree options. He provided very honest opinion and we enjoyed our dinner. We ordered roasted Brussel sprouts as appetizer. It was perfectly seasoned and crispy. For dinner I ordered the cioppino, a very delightful dish. It has tons of seafood and the flavor was bold and flavorful. It was a perfect match with the baguette. I pair it with a glass of Pinot Grigio. My boyfriend has the wild caught salmon with spinach. The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned well with some capers and lemon sauce. For dessert, we shared a tiramisu and it was a delightful treat to wrap our romantic dinner. I'd love to try Met her at the bar and the Night we met. I love the vibe and ambience of the restaurant. Casual, cozy and romantic. read more

i almost overlooked this place at first because the ambiance doesn't scream "trendy italian spot," but we ended up enjoying ourselves so much that i barely even remembered to take quick photos of the food before digging in, which says a lot because i usually photograph everything first. i ordered the rigatoni vodka with shrimp. i'm a huge pasta person, and this was cooked exactly how i like it. the sauce was creamy without feeling heavy, the shrimp tasted fresh, and the pasta texture was perfect. my friend got the bolognese and cleaned his plate, so that says enough. they also gave us complimentary calamari and prosecco, which was such a sweet touch and made the experience feel more welcoming. i also want to mention that the restaurant was very clean, and i liked the cute little details on the tables. it made the place feel cozy during dinner service, even when it got busy. my only criticism is that the music was loud enough that our table, along with the people next to us, were basically raising our voices to have conversations. not the end of the world, but definitely noticeable. overall though, i'd come back without hesitation. i can already see myself coming here alone one day, ordering another pasta and a drink, and just vibing for an hour! read more
