I brought in a gold coin to have made into a necklace. This is the third major piece I have had made. I had another necklace and my engagement ring made there. THIS TIME WAS AWFUL! He quoted $500 and charged $800. I called two weeks ago to see how it was coming along and was not told anything of the increase in price. When my husband went to pick it up - the price changed. We have the ticket that says $500. It is the jeweler's responsibility to quote correctly and communicate to the customer if there is a problem. Theodore Jewelers is still very much open in spite of the erroneous report on Yelp. I was there this morning (5 April 2023) and had a watch battery replaced. The proprietor is as pleasant and helpful as ever. This is an old style shop run by the owner and hence may occasionally be closed because of the owner's personal life, so it's worth a phone call. I needed to replace two watch batteries. I called to check the price and confirm the store hours, dropped them off, and picked them up again later. The job was done with no problems, on time, and for the quoted price. I have gone to the store to get watch batteries and watch straps replaced. I considered the prices to be appropriate, reasonable and the owner does the work correctly. When I needed to have something different for a necklace, he told me he did not have what I needed, was clear and appropriate in how he described it. Very inexpensive, excellent service. Owner operated, Theodore. replaced my spring pin for my watch band on the spot, as he was working on a piece of jewelry. $3 total, part and labor. I gave him more as he was SO much better at both service and pricing than the insanely over priced, nearby Boston Watch Clock & Jewelry Repair who try to talk you into expensive watch cleanings and pressure tests for waterproof watch battery replacements. The engagement ring my fiance' gave me came from a jeweler in VT which was incorrectly sized way too small. We needed to get the ring resized larger it was a Friday. We needed it same day so we could announce the engagement to our families over the weekend. I walked in on Friday morning and talked with Theodore, explained my dilemma and he resized it and had it ready by 4:00 PM. As it turned out, it was still a whisker too tight (not his fault, I told him 7.25 and that was what he gave me). I brought it back in the next morning (Saturday) when he opened and even though he was really, really swamped busy, he sized it up a tad more, no charge the second time. Price was $50 compared to $90 which I was quoted at 2 other higher end rip-off jewelers. Couldn't be happier with Theodore's quick turnaround and good work. Highly recommend him. read more

Stopped in for a watch battery. No only was that done quickly and professionally (took the time to clean the battery contacts), but the jeweler discovered the bracelet was broken, and that was repaired quickly and efficiently. Total charge... $10. And... I asked about cleaning for some of my finer analog watches, and rather than farming it out to a watchmaker and marking it up, he suggested I take it to a watchmaker directly. Went here today. Had previously gone down the street to Boston Watch Clock where i was charged $16 for one watch battery that turned out to be dead. Saw man at Theodore take out battery snd test it in front of me. He fixed 3 watches in 15 minutes and one watch band. $16!!!! Same price for one battery down the street and he actually fixed watches, did not have to leave for a few days and he was curtious rather than hanging up on.me twice like Boston Watch 3 blocks down did when i called about dead battery. I've used Theodore Jewelers for jewelry repair. The slight tear in my wedding ring was repaired that even I have a hard time finding it. A ring that was missing a bracket got fixed as well. Both times the cost was very reasonable. When I needed to change my watchband, he brought back a number of watchbands based on my description of what I liked. He's always courteous and customer oriented. Even the jewelry for sale is reasonably priced. Definitely the place to go in the area for personal service! read more

The epitome of small business customer service! I bought a ceramic band watch on Overstock that needed to be re-sized. I work in PA and NO ONE down there would touch it. I tried several jewelers and watch repair shops. Kay Jewelers said they would have to send it away and it would have cost at least $30. I figured I would take it home to Boston and someone would try to fix it. Sure enough, Teddy was able to. He was so, so kind and courteous. He removed the links for me, and while I won't say exactly what he charged, I will tell you it was less than $10! I am definitely recommending Theodore's to all my family and friends. My gold bracelet was returned to me scratched and smudged - didn't bother to clean or polish. Maybe fine for a watch battery replacement but wouldn't bring anything nicer here. I've used Theodore Jewelers today to repair a slide for my Omega necklace.I had broken a piece off the back of the slide and they were able to weld another piece in its place. Terrible service and poor quality product. Had a watch battery replaced here and it died a week later...had to go back for another new battery, since the previous new one had probably been used/sitting there for years. Purchased a new watch band here a few weeks ago, and it started to fall apart after a week. Owner would not replace it or refund the money, said it was not his fault that the product we bought was cheap. Does not stand by his own products. read more

I just used Theodore Jewelers to have the clasp of a pearl necklace fixed. He was very nice and seemed responsible, trust worthy and like he knew what he was doing. He gave me a ticket with a number on it and said to call in 4 days to see if it was ready. I did and it was ready. It cost only $15 to fix the clasp. I thought that was very reasonable and I will go back to him for sure. It is one of those little places that seems like a find...someone honest and reasonably priced that is willing to help and knows what he is doing. I have used Theodore Jewelers for many years. He has repaired broken gold chains and clasp on bracelets where I can't even find where they were broken.
